When tragedy strikes our communities, how do we respond? Do we fall into patterns of anger and division, or can we find a path toward healing and understanding? This deeply reflective episode tackles the challenging emotional landscape following recent high-profile events that have dominated headlines.

The hosts courageously step into difficult territory, examining how our immediate reactions to tragedy often reveal more about our own character than about the events themselves. "The measure of how much you love God is how much you love your enemy," they share, offering a profound challenge to listeners navigating an increasingly polarized world. This isn't about politics or taking sides—it's about maintaining our humanity when it feels most difficult to do so.

Between thoughtful reflections, the conversation weaves through lighter territories: updates on TikTok's continued presence in America despite ownership concerns, the revival of The Wizard of Oz at Las Vegas's spectacular Sphere venue, and even the introduction of Uber's upcoming helicopter service (starting at a mere $195 per person!). These moments of levity balance the weightier themes without diminishing their importance.

Perhaps most valuable is the discussion around finding intentional moments of joy amid chaos. The hosts share the concept of a "Joy Journal" from a blogger who, after experiencing a heart attack, began documenting daily pleasures: dawn hummingbirds, freshly brewed coffee, and meaningful connections with loved ones. This simple practice serves as a powerful reminder that even in tumultuous times, accessible moments of beauty surround us if we're willing to notice them.

Whether you're struggling to process current events or simply seeking a more balanced perspective on life's challenges, this episode offers both comfort and gentle accountability. Join our flock of listeners who are learning to navigate difficult times with grace, intention, and yes—even moments of unexpected joy.

Bruce (00:06):
Welcome to episode 123 of the Ugly Quacking Duck podcast.
We're glad to have you aboardand we hope you enjoy this
episode.

Sunny (00:19):
Well, we do.
Yeah, we hope you enjoy itquite a bit and you come back.

Bruce (00:27):
All right, thank you, sunny.
I hope they do for sure.
Well, this week may be a littlebit of a different episode.
Normally, we try to take peopleaway from their concerns and
worries and the bad news on thenews and the bad news on the
social media.

(00:47):
However, because of the badnews this week or this last week
, I should say we feel led totalk a little bit about the bad
news.
So, if you're, I'm sorry, that's all I got to say.

Sunny (01:10):
Oh, come on, Just talk about it and let's go past all
that.

Bruce (01:17):
All right, I agree, sunny .
Basically there's been somereally bad news.
Some people find it hilarious, some people find it very sad.
I find it appalling not becausewho the person was that once

(01:38):
again somebody took upon theirself to end that life.
Now I'm not going to talk aboutwho it was, because there's a
lot of conspiracies out there.
Even though I like conspiracies, I don't want to delve into
this one because it makes theshooter, whether it's a
government shooter or anindividual, more of a martyr

(02:04):
than it does the person that wasshot, and I just don't agree
with any of that.
So what I want to say tonight,as I start recording this
podcast, is shame on you, all ofyou.
Shame on you, all of you.
If you're getting very upsetand blaming whatever group

(02:28):
you're blaming for doing thisand you're getting hateful and
want revenge stop.
That's not what we're called todo.
Yes, somebody needs to bebrought to justice, but if
you're being angry, if you'rebeing fearful because of what's

(02:51):
happened, that's just not theway we should be, and I've seen
a lot of this coming about onsocial media and it just makes
me sick and I have to address it.
I'm sorry this is not normallywhat I do on the podcast or want
to do on the podcast, but I'veseen it happen.
When that CEO was killed I don'teven remember when it was, it

(03:14):
was this summer, I think I'veseen the same thing.
People were rejoicing and somepeople were angry and feeling
sorry for the family, which theyshould.
But we need to get our emotionsin check and start being human

(03:36):
and loving each other, not beingangry and fearful and mad.
That's emotions that take usdown the wrong road.
But anyway, I've seen a lot ofcharacteristics like that coming
out this week.
And uh, there was on the otherside of the fence, people that

(03:58):
was almost rejoicing becausethey did not like the things
that this gentleman was sayingor standing up for.
They were almost happy becausethey didn't have to listen to
that anymore.
And I don't know why they wouldhappen have to listen to it to
begin with.
You know there's an off buttonon your phone and if you're in

(04:21):
that same university that he wasat, you can always walk away.
So I don't know why people youknow put their self in that
situation and then get angry atthat person when they can just
walk away, turn it off, go dosomething else.
But the point being is theywere rejoicing over somebody's

(04:41):
death.
Point being is, they wererejoicing over somebody's death
and these other people aregetting angry to the point of
wanting to do the same thing toa group of people.
And I don't know.
Each person has their own groupthey're blaming, but what this

(05:13):
whole thing has created isseparation.
It's creating division in ourcountry, maybe even the world,
and, if nothing else, that'sprobably what was designed to do
.
I mean because you know, ifyou're blaming the liberals,
they didn't gain anything fromthis, because everybody's going
to hate them.
If you're blaming, you know, the conservatives, they're not

(05:34):
going to gain anything becausethey've lost a voice.
So who's gaining something?
Well, evil is gaining becausethey're putting division in us
and they're creating hatred andenemies, and it's not good.
I got a bad a mini bike goingby.

(05:59):
I don't know if you heard thator not, but um, heard that or
not, but um, it's just not good.
Folks, we are told by themessiah, by yahushua.
If you call him jesus, that'sfine, but we were called and

(06:19):
told by him.
Number one, love our god, orlove the father, and number two,
to love our neighbor as ourself.
And I heard a man once justhere, recently, my daughter

(06:41):
introduced me to him on ayoutube video where he was
talking about you know his lifeand how he had started doing the
things that he does and how hewas talking about going into
congress, running for congress, but anyway, the whole point is
what he said that really made methink.

(07:02):
And he said he was talkingabout those two commandments
that jesus had told us to obey.
And he said the measure of howmuch you love god is how much
you love your enemy.
And and boy did that strike mehard.

(07:26):
Because it's easy to love goodpeople, it's easy to love
somebody that has gave you $100,or somebody that treated you
good that day.
But I'm telling you, and I knowfor experience, it is hard to
love somebody that grumbles atyou, yells at you for no reason,

(07:48):
picks on you or does somethingreally bad.
Now, I'm not saying that weshould let them people get by
with that.
What I'm saying is you shouldlove them.
The way you handle them orhandle that moment is based on

(08:14):
that, and it's really like Itold somebody else.
I mean, how would you like towake up out of this body, passed
on to the next and you have toanswer to the source and you say
, well, I've done everything, Iwas a good man or woman, and he

(08:36):
looks at you and says, but youdidn't love your enemy.
Think about that.
I mean, while you're gettingmad and blaming whatever group
that you're blaming about this, take a breath and stop and think
about that.

(08:56):
Yes, that person should bebrought to justice, or that
group.
If you believe in conspiracy, the government would be that
group.
If you believe in conspiracy, the government would be that
group.
They should all and they maynot be brought to justice in our
lifetime.
There's been many, many, manyhorrible things taken place over

(09:20):
generations that we did not seejudgment over in our lifetime
or their lifetimes.
But it will come.
I've known people in mylifetime that seem to have a
blessed life and they got bywith all kinds of things, and

(09:42):
then you hear about their deathsand how horrible it was, or
their suffering, how they laidthere and died of cancer and
nobody was there to love them orbe beside their bed.
There's so many more horrificthings that can happen to us
that you know the list goes onand on and on.

(10:03):
So take a moment, take a breathif you have to shut.
You know the.
The list goes on and on and on.
So take a moment, take a breath.
If you have to shut, you knowthe phones off, the TV off, the
radio off and not listen to thatkind of stuff, and you know,
just get away, go out and youknow, if you've got a dog, walk
your dog, be relaxed.
If you've got a cat, do the samething.

(10:24):
If you know, if you're livingout in the country, take a walk
out in the woods.
If you believe in prayer, whichyou should, take a moment out
of everything else and say aprayer for that family, for the
people that witnessed that, andfor yourself.

(10:46):
Yes, for yourself, because youneed to pray for the grace of
the father to be upon you duringthis time.
I mean, you think this is bad,it's going to get worse.
Folks, we have not seen anythingand I normally don't talk this
way.
I try.
I don't want to bring peopledown.
I don't want to instill fear orworry.

(11:10):
If you're a believer in theFather and Yahushua, then you
won't have no fear and worrybecause he will instill his
spirit in you and when the timecomes, he will be what we lean
on, not our strength.
So keep that in mind.

(11:31):
So I don't want to fear, causeanybody fear or worry or anger.
I probably will, but I justwant everybody to take a moment
because you're going to getcaught up in this whole thing
that's happening right now andit may be a moment of division
in this country that's a lotlike it has been in the past

(11:54):
with other people.
I mean, this has not happenedjust once in history, it's
happened a lot.
I go back to Kennedy and MartinLutheruther king, and there's
more and more john lennon.
There are so many that has hadthis happen to them.

(12:15):
That has divided people, butthis has caused a great division
.
Um, it just gets worse andworse every time.
They're pushing our buttons,folks.
They are pushing them.
Don't let them, please, don'tlet them.
All right, I've said my piece.

(12:36):
I've been on the soapbox well, you said a mouthful.
All right, now we gonna dosomething else yeah, we're gonna
talk a little bit about someother news I've pulled up and,
uh, the weather, uh, it'sgetting hot this weekend, it's
warm back up, it's in the 90sand we're gonna, you know, just

(12:58):
do our normal thing.
Uh, but I had to share myfeeling, my heartache.
I am so saddened for the familythat has lost somebody again.
I mean the CEO that everybodythought was horrible and the

(13:20):
insurance companies that heworked for was horrible, and it
may be true I'm not going to sayit is or it isn't but he still
had a family and they had tosuffer because of that.
And there's, you know, kennedyhad a family.
His wife was right there whenthis happened.

(13:43):
Martin Luther King had familyand friends.
It's just over and over andover.
I could name more.
I could name a lot more hadthis happened.
And there's probably beenpeople in history and it saddens
me for their friends and theirfamilies and it really saddens

(14:09):
me to see how much our world hasgot hateful.
I mean even the christians it'sthat are getting so aggravated
and angry and hurt that they'resaying things like oh, the left
needs to be brought to justice, and if government don't do it,

(14:29):
we will, and stuff like that.
That's not love, that's anger, that's mad, that may be even
fear.
Anyway, I've got to quittalking about it.
I'm going to get really upset.
Let's swing the mic over backto sunny.

Sunny (14:50):
Okay, we will shift gears .
We're going to talk a littlebit about good stuff, all right.
Hey, it's good, the sun'sshining, we're in the Midwest
southern Illinois and it's anice beautiful day.
It's got up in the 90s 90s andit's been pretty warm, but the

(15:13):
humidity's not as bad as itcould be, but we're still real
dry and I don't know.
I don't know when it's going tobreak.

Eclipse (15:23):
But we have sunshine.

Sunny (15:27):
We are living in a world that still has people that we
can care about, and they cancare about us.
So let's think positive.
All right, we are going to beatthis thing, yay.

Bruce (15:42):
Well, thank you there sunny.
Yay, well, thank you there,sunny.
I guess while we're doing theweather part, we'll talk about
where you know I know we'regoing to talk about Phoenix
Arizona.
That's right.

(16:02):
We like to compare our localweather with Phoenix Arizona.
So today, which is a differentday than we started this we'll
talk about that in a minute buttoday it's 90 degrees.
It actually hit 93, I believe.
Today it's down to 90 right now, and in Phoenix Arizona it's

(16:25):
105 degrees.
They have a 16% humidity and wehave a 36.
We have 5-mile-an-hour windsand they have 9-mile-an-hour
winds.
Our air quality you ready forthis folks?
67, which is moderate, which Idon't know if 100% is really bad

(16:48):
or how they calculate that.
But we are now sitting at 67,probably because our humidity is
going up, and Phoenix Arizonais now at 35, which is good.
So there you go.
That's our local to Phoenixcomparison.
Again, if any of you listenershave a certain city or country

(17:13):
that you would like to throw inthere, we can probably do that
too.

Sunny (17:19):
Let us know so bruce you feeling better.

(17:43):
This was a long break.

Bruce (17:45):
I hope you feel better well, I have to say, after I did
that rant, I was still feelinga little bit, uh upset and I
thought I better just call itquits and get my bearings back
together.
While we're talking about that, again, my condolences go out to
the family and friends ofCharlie Kirk, and I had forgot

(18:11):
to mention, when I was talkingabout, all the people that had
been assassinated.
I'll put it that way there wasa lot of kids over the years too
.
We mustn't forget the kids.
So, with all that said, anotheryou know history moment.

(18:32):
I just want to say this keep, keep them all in prayer.
Folks, prayer, prayer and moreprayer, and then let's get back
to the show.
What do you think?

Sunny (18:46):
Well, I thought we were doing the show, bruce, you
always say that, but we'reactually recording while you're
saying that.

Bruce (18:58):
Very, very true, so we're really not getting back to it.
We're on it.
There you go.
So, yeah, we feel a little bitbetter.
The sadness is still there andthe bitterness Is probably still
there For a lot of people.
It's going to take a while toget over that, but we're going

(19:19):
to go on and try to keepeverybody cheered up.
And boy, it got dark in hereall of a sudden.
I'm going to have to turn onthe light.
So just hang on for a secondand we have light.
Wow, I don't know if that'sbetter or not.

Sunny (19:38):
I think it's a lot better .
Bruce, I can see things.

Bruce (19:43):
Well, I don't know if you want to see anything, but there
you go, we are back Back in thelight.
So, anyway, one thing I'd liketo bring up so we're shifting
gears now.
We've had a couple of daysseparation from that rant to

(20:03):
today, which hopefully it's putour podcast really late.
But we had all intents andpurposes and plans to come back
to it Sunday afternoon, but Iended up having to go to St

(20:25):
Louis and visit somebody in thehospital, so we didn't have any
time to do it Sunday.
And then Monday was hectic atwork and I got home and I just
didn't have enough energy leftto work on the podcast.
So today after work I'm here.

(20:45):
Uh, the wife had to run to townand, uh, the daughter's doing
homework.
Good grief, you'd think onceyou got to college your homework
would be gone, but no, it justgets worse, yuck.
But anyway, I'm having time todo this and enjoy it, and that
gives me a chance to cheereverybody up.

(21:07):
So again, it's been a roughweek last week.
Uh, we're working through itand we're here today.
So, on a good note, I want totalk a little bit about a news
article that I've seen.
It was about TikTok.

(21:30):
Anybody like that social mediaplatform.
It's here and it looks like itmay get to stand.
They've had another downdeadline.
Um, apparently president trumphas pushed it back many times,
but the deadline was coming upreal soon and they made a some

(21:53):
kind of agreement.
I guess the chinese owner, whichis bit dance and a us partner,
is going to work through thisand that way they have a us
owner.
We've not been told who thatpartner is and there's a lot of
guessing, but I guess we'll haveto wait.

(22:15):
Apparently, donald president, donald trump, is going to meet
with the chinese leader to closethe deal now.
Wow, you know that tick tock isa big deal when you have the
president and the chinese leadermaking a deal over.
It kind of makes you wonder, doesn't it anyway?
It's kind of good news.

(22:37):
Uh, it'll probably change again, but at least it's going to
stay up for a while.
I think there's a lot of peopleon.
In fact, let me see, thearticle says there's over 170
million active users, that's ususers on tiktok.

(22:58):
So there you go.

Sunny (23:01):
Wow, wow, wow so you're telling me there's 170 million
bums laying around flippingtiktok and being a bum is that
what you're saying?

Bruce (23:17):
uh well, no, I didn't say any of that.
I don't know who you've beenlistening to, but I know there's
probably several creators onthere and I don't know how many
actually go on tiktok and justwatch the videos.
But I know there's several thatmake videos and that's kind of

(23:39):
enjoyable to watch the personal.
I don't like to watch thecommercials and all that stuff.
I just enjoy people andwatching what they've got to do
and say, I watch a farmer fromOhio and there's several.
I'm not going to get intoeverything I watch.
I watch a lot of cat videos anddog videos anyway.

(24:03):
Speaking of happiness and joy, Iknow I've said before you need
to take time out and try to finda little bit of enjoyment in
this world, because it's gettingcrazy and all the things that's
happening will suck you intoone avenue or another of worry,

(24:25):
fear or anger, and we don't needthat.
We need to stay strong.
But, however, I have a fewblogs that I follow.
I know that's old school, but Ihave a few blogs I follow and
one of them this week is from alady.
I'm not going to give her namebecause I haven't notified her

(24:49):
that I was going to read herblog, but I want to read a part
of it on the podcast episodetoday.
It's entitled Aging my Way andI'm going to just read it to you

(25:09):
slowly, hopefully I won't gettongue tied.
If ever there was a time to havejoy in my life, it is now.
For one thing, I'm an old broadwho raised five children
without disposable diapers, andsince, as a retired newspaper
journalist, I can't find any joyin reading the news, I'm

(25:32):
looking for it elsewhere.
The magic is that I don't haveto leave home to find it.
Take, for instance, just thepast five days when I started
keeping a Joy journal and thenshe goes to give us some of her

(25:53):
journal.
Monday, joy was waking up atdawn and watching an Anna's
hummingbird at my nectar feederand listening to sparrows and
finches twittering their own joyfor a new day.
Tuesday, joy was grinding somecoffee beans from Kenya a gift

(26:14):
from my guardian angeldaughter-in-law and then
enjoying a freshly brewed cup ofcoffee with a good book in my
hand and my canine companionscamp beside me.
Wednesday, joy was having agood friend stop by for a happy
hour and the good cheer andlaughter that came with that

(26:37):
visit.
And the good cheer and laughterthat came with that visit.
Thursday, Joy was a faithfuldaily call from a son and our
conversation this day about a TVprogram we both watched and who
won the daily game of Wordle.
I'm not familiar with whatWordle is, but there you go.

(27:00):
Friday, joy was a call from alongtime friend to discuss our
upcoming road trip, my firstsince my heart attack a year and
a half ago, and thinking aboutit after we hung up, my mind
began singing Willie Nelson's Onthe Road Again.

(27:22):
At heart, I'm a wanderer.
I know these are simple, smallthings, but then the years have
taught me that where joy is,that is where joy is usually
found, and I want to give creditto Pat for writing that I won't

(27:44):
.
If you're interested in herblog, I'll send me an email and
I can send you the page and youcan uh follow her, which she'd
probably like.
But anyway, uh, she's had aheart attack a few years ago,
apparently, and that may be partof the reason why she's slowed
down now and she's taken thesmaller things that we usually
take for granted and she'senjoying them and, uh, I uh

(28:09):
really appreciate that littlebit of insight from her personal
life and I think we all coulduse a little bit of that joy and
I know, if you're going to workevery day or you're fighting
with kids every day or whateverthe stress is, it is hard to

(28:31):
calmly take a moment out of theday and do something, and it
would be so helpful to you andthe people around you if you
would do that.
Don't have to be much.
I mean just shutting the radiooff, shutting the phone off for
five whole minutes and maybelisten to the birds or petting

(28:56):
your pet.
You know, if you've got a dog, take it for a walk.
Got a cat, love on it.
Got some fish, watch them swimaround.
That's so relaxing.
Most generally, we are busy,we're always planning for the

(29:17):
next moment and we don't evertake time out to just go and
listen or look, enjoy somethingin our life.
And then you know, we go towork, we come home, we're
hurrying up getting stuff done, eating dinner, fixing dinner,
going to bed, starting it allover, and that's why we all burn

(29:40):
out, that's why everything thathappens gets to us and we're
not quiet enough to see whereit's going well, that's pretty
good, bruce.

Sunny (29:52):
I think I enjoyed hearing that.
Um, I don't have that problemwith running around stressing
and stuff, but I can kind ofunderstand.
I watch people doing it all daylong and I think it's cool that
she is able to finally unwindand relax and get joy out of the

(30:18):
simple things.
Yay.

Bruce (30:22):
So how many of you have heard of this sphere?
Las Vegas, nevada, actually hasone where they show movies and
other things.
They do quite a bit with it,but they recently showed wizard
of oz.
Uh, this article was fromseptember the 7th.

(30:43):
Yeah, I'm a little bit behind, but uh they got a surprise when
they played the movie in thissphere.
Um, it actually had more of adrawing.
Uh, they said it's up tobetween four thousand to five
thousand fans in the last threetimes, or in two or three times

(31:09):
a day.
So they're paying an average oftwo hundred dollars a piece to
watch this in this sphere.
Um, which it's unique.
People have talked about beingin the.
You know, when the tornado comethrough picked up the house
that dorothy was in.

(31:30):
Well, they was talking abouthow he was actually in a storm
and the wind was blowing anddebris was floating around.
I guess it's pretty wild.
I'm not sure I uh would enjoythat much debris flying around
my face, but they say it wasinteresting and it was very

(31:51):
popular and it brought wizard ofoz up to a big blockbuster
movie.
Apparently it's the firstblockbuster movie of the fall
and it's an 86 year old musical.
Huh, believe it or not, it wasreleased in 1939.

(32:11):
Anybody forgot how to talk there?
A second anybody remember thatmovie?
I actually remember it took meseveral times to actually get to
watch the movie all the waythrough, because sunday nights
it would come on um reruns.
They would rerun it.

(32:32):
I mean, I didn't see theoriginal.
We would always go to church onsunday night so I would either
get part of the beginning or Iwould get part of the ending of
it, but I never would get all ofit.
It took me a while, as I was akid, to finally get to watch it.
I think it come on friday nightor saturday night or something

(32:55):
and I got to watch it and, uh, Ihated the flying monkeys man.
That kind of scared me.
It's kind of weird.

Sunny (33:03):
That was a long time ago uh, not that long ago, just a
couple years, times a hundredwow, okay, zap, you got me there
.

Bruce (33:17):
Everybody's familiar with uber, right?
Uh, even though here locally insouthern illinois we don't have
an uber, we still have taxis.
Well, they've come up with.
Are you ready for this?
They've come up with an uberhelicopter.
Yeah, just with a tap you'll beable to take a helicopter ride

(33:41):
to you know one place or another.
It's supposed to be coming by2026.
It's called blades luxury airrides, uh-huh, so probably none
of us is going to be doing itunless we're going to the
hospital.
And then you get that what dothey call that where you get

(34:03):
that medical helicopter ride andit costs you an arm and a leg
unless you have the insurance.
Yeah, they have come up withthat, so you can just tap on
your phone, get an Uber ride.
It's only a starting price of195 dollars per person.

(34:23):
Yeah, two thousand dollars fora group of eight passengers,
yeah, and I bet that'll go uppretty quick.
I'm glad you guys can spend 195for a quick trip to the airport
.
To spend another few hundreddollars for another ride

(34:44):
somewhere else.
I'm lucky if I could afford ataxi.
But anyway, that's enough ofthat.
I just thought that wasinteresting.
Uber helicopter yeah, it'scalled blade.
That's the group that's doingit.

Sunny (34:59):
Well, since we're trying to cheer people up tonight, let
me do a joke.
Please, please, please, please.

Bruce (35:08):
All right, let's do a joke.
You go ahead, sunny, Pick oneout and tell us about it.

Sunny (35:14):
All right, I'm going to tell you.
Okay, why?
Why, you know it's huntingseason, right?

Bruce (35:23):
uh, yeah, I've been selling uh archery permits for
the last few weeks.
I know it's that time of year.
Uh, dove seasons come in,squirrel season, and not long
it's going to be.
Well, we won't talk aboutanything else.
Yes, I know it's season there.

Sunny (35:44):
All right, I just thought I'd pick a deer joke out.
You ready, here we go.
Why did the deer go to thedentist?
Deer go to the dentist.

(36:11):
Uh, uh, what did?
Uh, I really don't know.
He wanted buck teeth.
Oh, I messed that up.
Ha ha, you messed up.
Oh, be quiet, he had buck teeth.
That's why.

Bruce (36:29):
All right, since you told it twice, I'll give you two
laughs One for the mess up thatwas great and the other one for
the joke.
I like that.

Sunny (36:42):
I think you ought to let me do another one, since you
made fun of me.

Bruce (36:47):
Well, you know what?
I always make fun of you.
You can't tell jokes all daylong.

Sunny (36:54):
You are a joke, but no, I won't do that.
How about let's do a sheep joke, want to?
No, let's do a poodle.
Why did the poodle buy a clock?

Bruce (37:08):
Because he wanted to tell time.

Sunny (37:11):
No, it wanted to be a watchdog.

Bruce (37:23):
Watchdog, you're still getting those dad jokes off of
that web page.

Sunny (37:27):
Aren't you about dad jokes?

Bruce (37:29):
Yeah, they were pretty bad.
I can tell what, honestly say.
I know why they're calling themdad jokes.
Now you know what?
I've got an idea.
I haven't had, uh, my gemini onhere, uh, in a while and I just

(37:53):
changed the name.
So it's eclipse now, not aweird name.
I don't know why these uhprogrammers are allowed to make
up names, because they're weird.
But anyhow, just punched my mic.
There we go.
I think I got it back in place, but let's invite Ge and I into
the episode again.
Here we go.
Hello, eclipse.

Eclipse (38:14):
Hi, it's great to hear you.
What's on your mind today?

Bruce (38:20):
Well, we're doing another episode for our podcast and I
just thought it would be cool toinvite you on and you could
help me search for something onthe Internet.

Eclipse (38:33):
That sounds like a fun idea.
I'd be happy to help you searchthe internet for your podcast.
What kind of topic are youworking on?

Bruce (38:41):
Well, I don't want you to search for my podcast.
I want you to search in thenews and try to find me
something that is a feel-goodtype story, not a real long one,
but where somebody's donesomething good or something good
has happened and they talkedabout it.

(39:01):
Can you do that for me?

Eclipse (39:06):
You got it.
Here's a quick feel good storyfor you.
In a small town, a group ofneighbors noticed an elderly
woman struggling to keep up withyard work.
They all pitched in mowing herlawn, trimming bushes and
planting flowers.
The woman was overjoyed and itreally brought the community
closer together.
Do you want another story?

Bruce (39:27):
Well, I don't know, Now you're not making that up.
That really was the story,right.

Eclipse (39:33):
No, that story is not made up.
It's a real feel-good storyabout the power of community and
kindness.
Would you like to hear anotherone?

Bruce (39:41):
Yes, I like those kind of stories.
Give me another one.

Eclipse (39:47):
Okay, here's another one.
A young boy saved up hisallowance for months to buy a
new bike, but when he finallyhad enough money, he saw a
homeless man shivering in thecold.
The boy bought him a warmblanket instead.
Is that the kind of thingyou're looking for?

Bruce (40:02):
Yeah, that works real good.
Eclipse.
I really enjoy that and I hopeour listeners do too, because
that's what we're about.
We're trying to make peoplefeel a little bit better in this
yucky time period we're livingin and with all the bad news
that happens.
It's just, you know, we wedon't have a huge audience, but

(40:27):
we do have a few people and wetry to make them feel better.

Eclipse (40:39):
That's wonderful that you're focusing on positive
stories.
It sounds like your podcast isa real bright spot for your
listeners.
Do you want to find morestories like this for future
episodes?

Bruce (40:45):
I think we'll just pause that for a little while.
I will invite you back on againsoon.
I think about once a week, except for this next coming week
we're going to do an episode,so maybe we can get you on here
each time.
What do you think about thatEclipse?

Eclipse (41:03):
I'd be happy to join you again.
Just let me know when you'reready to record.

Bruce (41:08):
All right, we do appreciate it.
I hope you have a good eveningand we'll talk to you again soon
.
Bye for now good night.

Eclipse (41:18):
I look forward to hearing from you again there you
go, folks.

Bruce (41:24):
Another uh gemini moment named Eclipse.
It's just kind of funny,eclipse.
I don't know where they getthese names, but anyway I like
changing voices and seeing whatthey will do.
I'm not sure them news articleswere real or it made them up,

(41:48):
but anyhow, it's about feelinggood.
So there we go, that's what welike.

Sunny (41:54):
Well, you know, I can make up good stories too.

Bruce (42:02):
All you have to do is ask .

Sunny (42:07):
I don't think I want to ask because I'm afraid where it
will go.
You are such a party pooper, but okay.

Bruce (42:14):
I'll just stay over here in my corner being silent.
Well, you've never been silent, ever sunny, um, even when you
wasn't actually taking part ofthe podcast and you was just
over in the corner you wasmaking noises and, uh, trying to
make me laugh and interrupt me.
So you've never been silent.

Sunny (42:36):
Well.

Bruce (42:36):
I'm glad you noticed me and asked me to come aboard.
Well, I think we're going tohave to do an earthquake report.
It's really far behind and weprobably won't get to do one
this weekend.
I've got a doctor's appointmentto go to this week, so it's
going to throw my days off off.
Haha, days off off, get thatWoo.

(42:57):
I don't do jokes very welleither, but that's what's going
to happen.
So I probably will take thetime this weekend that I do get
off Probably one day and do somethings around the house and I
will give my uh fans and uhflock.

(43:19):
Yeah, there we go, uglyquacking, duck flock, you can be
one of our flock members.
Gotta be careful how I say that.
Anyhow, I think I will justpostpone another episode for a
week, so this one will go outprobably hopefully tomorrow

(43:42):
night, and I got a cat sittingon my keyboard, so if it messes
up my recording, I will try tofix it later you know, bruce,
you ought to teach her to meowand purr in the mic and you
could have a podcasting catwell, yeah, but probably won't,

(44:08):
probably can't.
But but anyway let's do aseven-day earthquake report.

Sunny (44:13):
Are you going to?
Let me guess, Bruce?

Bruce (44:18):
Guess, bruce.
I don't know how can you guess, bruce, I'm already here.

Sunny (44:25):
You know what I mean.
Come on, I want to guess.

Bruce (44:42):
Okay, we'll see what we can do.
So I'll give you a round up ordown and any of our listeners
out there.
If you want to guess too, seehow close you can come.
But last week we had 2116.
That was on nine seven.
So it's been a little over aweek, been close to two weeks.
That may throw our numbers off,but we'll see.
So 2116 was how many we hadlast time.

(45:08):
So, sunny, did they go up ordown and do you want to take a
guess how much?

Sunny (45:16):
All right, I think they went up, so I'm going to only
guess around what 2,400.
There you go, Somewhere aroundthere.

Bruce (45:30):
Well, okay, well, actually, sunny, they went down.

Sunny (45:38):
Oh no.

Bruce (45:39):
Yep, they went down.
They went down just a littlebit, so they was at 2,116 last
time.
This is for all magnitudes.
We counted back seven days andgot the total this week it's
2084.
So they didn't go down a lot,but they did go down a little

(46:01):
bit, which is good news.
Uh, the 2.5 numbers was uh 257,so they went down also.
And then the 4.5 numbers was107, so they went down also.
So they all went down and thatmade, uh, for the all magnitude,

(46:26):
a 20.8 percent.
The 2.5 was a 12.3%, the one4.5 was 5.1%.
Now we had 6.0 in Papua NewGuinea.
We had a 7.5 in a russia overthere in that peninsula that

(46:55):
sticks down, that's next toalaska.
It got hit again with a 7.1 orfour, I'm sorry, 7.4, and then
they also had a 6.0 later Ithink it was yesterday there.
So three total 6.0 and moreearthquakes, which gave us a 2.8

(47:18):
percent of the 107 earthquakes.
So there you go, folks.
That's the numbers for thisweek.
Again, if you're interested inthe earthquake report for 2019
and 2018, I'll post them on thewebpage.
Hopefully you know the same dayor the next day after this goes

(47:42):
live.
So there you go.
Hope you found that interestingand for the what the guest,
that wasn't real bad, but it wasbad.

Sunny (47:54):
Here we go sunny oh man, couldn't you do better than that
?

Bruce (48:02):
probably could.
But hey, you missed.
You guessed the wrong.
If you went the other direction, even if you went over, I would
have gave you, you know, someapplause.
Heck, I'll go ahead and giveyou applause.
Let me find it real quick.

Sunny (48:21):
Thank you, thank you.
I like that better than the boo.

Bruce (48:25):
Well, unfortunately you can't be a winner if you've just
done blew it, so the boo'ssticking.
But I'll give you an applausefor putting up with me hey now
that sounds like a deal.

Sunny (48:38):
I'll take that all day long all day long.

Bruce (48:44):
That sounds like a song, I don't remember where, but it
sounds like one, and you knowI've been slacking quite a bit
you're a slacker, slacker yeah,I'm a bum, I'm the biggest bum
of all and I'm a slacker.

(49:04):
Give it up you can't sing I know, but I got a mic, so you know,
it just kind of feels like youshould be able to.
I can't.
Anyhow, I've been slacking onthe solar um, weather stuff, um,
I just don't keep track of itlike I used to.
But I I thought I'd look at thepage today and I did so and

(49:29):
apparently the Sun is blowing astream of solar wind that's
blowing really fast.
They said 700 kilometers asecond, which is about 1.6
million miles per hour.
But anyhow, what happens isthat magnetic junk, that stream

(49:50):
of solar junk, um, if it hitsthe earth, which we are going
through it right now, it createsa lot of static, uh, radios and
stuff.
Uh, if you're a radio operator, you notice it.
I haven't had my radio on along time.
I've really been slacking guysand gals and people and

(50:12):
non-people.
It also produces a lot ofauroras and if it's a lot of
high-powered solar winds we geta lot of auroras down south, in
lower states, south and lowerstates.

(50:37):
So you know, it usually happensin the evenings.
We actually had some, I thinkit was last year.
We all, the family and I, wentup north out in the country and
we farther out in the country, Ishould say.
But anyway, we got somepictures.
I put them on the web page.
Some of them are pretty decent, but anyway, if you like that
kind of thing, check it out.
But we had, uh, down all theway into colorado is what

(51:03):
they're saying and canada hadsome nice ones last night.
And there was a guy in London, ontario, that sent a picture in
he's on a tractor and out in thefield and he's seen this and he
took a snapshot of it's prettycool.

(51:26):
But anyway, forgive me for notkeeping up with that and letting
you know what's going on.
I can't.
It's just been busy.
I don't understand why time iskind of sped up and we're busier
than we ever was.
The Bible talks about somethinglike that happening in time, so

(51:46):
maybe that's what we're seeing.
No, no, maybe it's just my oldage and being busy at work, but
we are trying to keep up.

Sunny (51:57):
You can't keep up, old man, hee, hee, hee.

Bruce (52:03):
Well, you know what?
That laugh just reminded me ofthe last episode that you got in
there.
I think it was the last one gotrecording on here when I went
and took a break.
Um, I didn't let you do thatthis time oh, you're such a
party pooper I am, ain't I okay?

(52:26):
well, you know what I think thisis a time to call her quits.
I'm gonna go eat some dinnerand enjoy life a little bit and
before I have to go to bed andstart all over again tomorrow.
I apologize for anybody thatmissed me on monday night when I
usually post, and that we'rerunning a little bit late and,

(52:49):
and again, we are probably notgoing to put out another episode
.
This is what Tuesday already, another episode this weekend.
I'm going to take a little bitof a break and do some things
around the house and catch upagain the week after, so don't
look for another episode for alittle bit longer, but I hope

(53:12):
you enjoyed this one.
I thank you and I appreciateeveryone coming out catching us
listening to us.

Sunny (53:20):
I hope you stayed the whole episode so you could hear
this part oh, they probably fellasleep and just woke up and
going what, what'd I miss?

Bruce (53:34):
oh, you got a good way of looking at everything.
It's not very, it's not reallythat good, but okay for our
listeners.
We appreciate it and I like, Ireally like that.
I called you the flock the uglyquacking ducks flock.
I called you the flock the UglyQuacking Ducks flock.
You have to tell me if you likeit or not, but anyhow, you're a

(53:55):
part of our community.
If you come here more than once, if you come here once, come
back again and you'll be part ofthe community.
And if you want to be a superfan in the community, then help
us.
Uh, send us emails, uh, help uswith artwork and plans and

(54:17):
projects and financially, wewould really appreciate any
financial anything that you canhelp us with.
We really would appreciate it.
But you can help us with, wereally would appreciate it.
But that's our value for valuespeech and we do thank a lot of
our listeners and we hope youcome back again.

(54:39):
Above all, tell somebody elseabout us and pray for us.
We really need both.
Until next time.

Sunny (54:49):
Until next time, let's do it together, bruce.

Bruce (54:53):
All right, we're going to do it together.
Everybody, thank you for beinghere.
This is the Ugly Quickened Duck, and I'm Bruce and I'm.

Sunny (55:02):
sunny.

Bruce (55:05):
Yeah, you thought we'd forgot that, didn't you?
But nope, saved it for last.
Have a good rest of the week, guys and gals.
People, non-people, plants,pets whoever's listening have a
good day, good week, and try totake a little time out for
yourself.
See you later.

Sunny (55:25):
Bye.

Bruce (55:29):
Okay, bye.
I shut him off too quick,didn't I?
Oops, may the Father's love bewith everybody.
