Happy New Year everyone.
The year 2024 has finally endedand we're going to take this
moment to take a look back onsome of Unraid's milestones,
updates and accomplishmentsthroughout the year.
But first I wanted to start offby announcing that Unraid 7
Stable is officially released.
So if you've been dying to waitfor it to come out of beta and
the release candidates, now isyour time to go ahead and

(00:22):
install it and start using someof those newest features we've
talked about all year.
There were several updates thisyear, with Unraid 6 starting at
6.12.8 all the way through6.12.14.
On February 15, 6.12.8 droppedand addressed critical security
and data integrity issues.
6.12.9 introduced some bugfixes and performance

(00:42):
enhancements.
6.12.10 delivered important bugfixes and security updates and
then on July 16, 6.12.11introduced an OpenSSH security
fix alongside other improvements.
This was pretty important tothe community.
If you recall, unraid 6.12.12backported several Unraid 7 beta
working fixes and addressedkernel security vulnerabilities.

(01:03):
Unraid 7 beta working fixes andaddressed curl security
vulnerabilities.

impacting hard drives fromspinning down.
And finally, 6.12.14 wasreleased November 26th and had
some bug fixes that werebackported from Unraid 7 and
other security updates that wereincluded with those backports.
The big talk of 2024 wasobviously Unraid 7, where we had

(01:24):
four beta releases and tworelease candidates as well.
Obviously, unraid 7 is a bigdeal because that brings us ZFS
support, tailscale integration, web UI enhancements, we get
improvements to VM management,we also get snapshots and
cloning and so so much more.
One of the major announcementsfrom 2024 was on March 1st, when
Unraid announced that it wouldbe changing its pricing model so

(01:45):
that it could better financeits employees as well as bring
new employees on board and alsobring us some of the features
that we've been asking for, suchas ZFS and the ability to run
Unraid without an array Withthose funds.
Unraid hired Nick as atechnical program manager.
Two full stack developers werehired Pajit and Mike and an
e-commerce developer was alsohired, but we don't know who

(02:06):
that is at this time.
The update tool with inside ofthe operating system has been
updated, so now you can changeversions of your operating
system more easily, whether thatbe moved to a beta or even roll
back to a previous version.
The USB curated tool finallygot revamped so you can now
download and install Unraid muchfaster onto your USB thumb
drives, which is a welcomechange.

(02:29):
There was two partnerships madeone with Tailscale, of course,
as we've mentioned many timesbefore, and one with Link Plus,
so you could buy the LinkStation N1 with Unraid
pre-installed on it.
The support portal was enhancedand streamlined, and there's
also a ticketing system now, sonow the support team can view
history of other tickets and orview documentation, making their

(02:50):
jobs much easier.
The Unraid ambassador programlaunched and saw over 500
affiliates sign up.
The Unraid team has beenattending more events such as
the All Things Open andSoutheast Linux Fest, which has
been great for them to be ableto get out and engage with the
community and other customers.
And, as typical fashion, Iwanted to mention some of the

(03:12):
best videos on the Uncast showfrom 2024.
The first being the Unraidstory that aired on February
23rd.
This video gives you abehind-the-scenes look at the
origin story of Unraid and howit became to be one of the most
popular NAS OSs on the market.
We have a video with TomLawrence where we deep dive into
ZFS and gain all of his expertinsights with it.

(03:33):
We have a video with TechnoTimwhere we explore the
intersection of tech, contentcreation and self-hosting.
There's a video from IAMSystems, who highlighted
Unraid's role in a professionalsmart home integration.
And finally, we have a videowith Tailscale Magic where we
discuss the partnershipintegration with Tailscale and
all things self-hosting withAlex.

(03:54):
