Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Unraid
December Digest.
I'm your host, stefano Partita, and we'll be discussing all the
things that happened duringDecember of 2024 for Unraid.
Let's get started.
Unraid 7, release Candidate 2was released, and it comes with
(00:23):
a whole laundry list of updates, improvements and bug fixes,
some of which are ZFS support, tailscale integration, vm
management, improvements forcloning and snapshots, the
optionality of an Unraid array, enhancements to the web UI,
fixes to excessive flash driveactivity, fixes for single XFS
(00:43):
pools created before 6.12 thatfail to import to RC1 and RC2.
Another fix for XFS disks thatdon't have an XFS signature, so
they don't mount in RC2.
Fixes for allocation methodsnot showing when editing a share
, and just so.
So many more small improvementsthat you can find in release
(01:05):
candidate 2, so those are verywelcome to see.
Now, if this is any kind ofsignaling, I think that the
unraid version 7 will releaseany day now, probably within the
next couple of days, if notimmediately after this video
gets posted or shortly afterthis video gets posted online.
Perhaps one of the most excitingfeatures of Unraid 7 is the
(01:26):
fact that Tailscale is nowintegrated in the operating
system, and to couple with thatrelease, we have a video
available that is acomprehensive guide to pretty
much everything you may need toknow when it comes to the
integration of Tailscale intothe operating system.
You can expect to findinformation about travel routers
, docker integration, sshbetween Tailscale nodes, exit
(01:53):
nodes and all sorts of otherinformation that will probably
be convenient, or just that youmay not have even thought of
yourself.
Furthermore, there's also waysthat you can use Tailscale to
connect two Unraid serverstogether, so that way, if you
have a friend that wants tostore stuff on your Unraid
server, they can actually savetheir information on your Unraid
server and it'd be completelyencrypted and segregated from
your data.
(02:14):
So that way, you don't haveaccess to their stuff and they
don't have access to your stuff, which is pretty cool.
So definitely check out theUnraid video, and there are
other videos that have beenreleased on Space Invader 1's
channel talking about sharingtwo servers or sharing data
between two servers usingTailscale as well, and there'll
be links in the videodescription for both of those in
(02:34):
the comments below.
In an effort to make this videoshorter than the previous video,
I just want to talk about someof the community content you can
find around the web, the firstof which is a video from Space
Invader 1 and myself where weshow you how we shared backups
between both of our Unraidservers using Tailscale Securely
.
We have a video from LCADigital Media that shows us his
dedicated OBS NDI recorder buildthat uses Unraid OS.
(02:59):
We have a video from Raul Leewho goes into great detail about
his backup NAS that will have a80 terabyte capacity, and then
there's another video from SpaceInvader 1 who shows us a little
bit about Unraid containernetworking and GlutenVPN, and I
think that pretty much wraps upthis video.
So thank you all for watching.
Be sure to like and subscribe.
We'll see you all next time onthe next Sunday Night Digest
(03:20):
show Peace.
