Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning and
welcome to the Unraid Digest.
I'm your host, stefano Partita, and when this show is late, we
try to be especially late.
So, without any further rating, let's go ahead and check out
all things that went down inFebruary for Unraid.
Unraid 7.0.1 recently justdropped and all users are
(00:26):
strongly encouraged to upgradeto that version, especially
those of you that are using thetailscale integration for any of
your containers.
There was a security flaw thatwas found where containers that
are using tailscale integrationand also in host mode have
inadvertently allowed root levelaccess through the web UI to
(00:46):
any user.
With this release, the abilityto launch such containers has
been disabled.
The security fix preventscontainers with the network type
of host from using theTailscale integration, and any
existing containers in thisconfiguration will no longer
start.
All users will be warned viathe Fixed Common Problems plugin
(01:07):
if any container exists withthis configuration.
The container logic has beenenhanced to prevent containers
with the network type containerfrom using the tailscale
integration.
What essentially this boilsdown to is that you can no
longer use host modes.
That means you'll have to use acustom interface BR0, e0, or
Bond0, something like that inorder to get your containers to
(01:29):
work and or function correctly.
Other bug fixes andimprovements have been made to
the memory management, filemanager, hardware support,
butterfs, pool expansion, partition management and array
management.
There was an issue identifiedwith Mover where shares with
spaces in the name would nottransfer from the array to a
pool, and another issue whereMover did not handle hard links
(01:50):
appropriately.
The virtual machine managementreceived some fixes as well,
like the fix for VMs that had asingle quotation mark in the
name would prevent the VM fromstarting and stopping.
Perhaps more importantly, there's a fix that now prevents
new shares from being createdwhen a new VM is created.
My notes are a little unclearabout this next one, but it's
(02:11):
something about a discard fieldappearing blank.
That's been fixed, so you don'thave to worry about that.
For whoever that affected, therehave been more improvements to
Docker, such as the containermanager, hiding update statuses
for containers managed bythird-party tools, the
blacklisting of CDC drivers toprevent issues with NICs that
(02:32):
have IPMI capabilities oncertain motherboards.
There's also been a downgradeto the DHCPD package that
affects containers.
Somehow.
My notes are quite literallyblank on this one and I'm not
really sure who that wasaffecting, but at least those
users that were being affectedby the DHCPD issue will no
longer have to face that, sothat's good news there.
(02:54):
Ui and diagnostic improvementshave been made, so now there is
a tooltip that correctlydisplays spaces instead of that
pesky %20 encoding mumbo jumbo.
The kernel has also beenupgraded to 6.678 and along with
that are some updates to somepackages like bind, curl, git,
mc, openssh, openssl, rsync anda few others.
(03:16):
The Unraid API for the Connectplugin got some new features,
such as a new notificationsystem, new options to the
Unraid API command lineinterface, graphql enhancements,
the new option to allow singlesign-on with your Unraidnet
account, a fix to thenotification count syncing in
the web UI, modified the logrotate configuration and its
(03:39):
permissions, fixed broken modalsand CSS headers for the web UI,
as well as several other fixesand improvements.
Ed AKA Space Invader 1 has beenunleashed and his role has been
expanded.
This means that he'll becreating additional content in
the form of guides, tutorials, tech deep dives that are
relevant to the Unraid community.
He will also be helping shapeprofessional services and work
(04:01):
with business users andcontributing documentation
related to best practices inproduction environments.
Most users on the forums arewelcoming this change with open
arms, so I'm sure he greatlyappreciates all the support that
y'all have shown him thus far.
Be sure to check out the UnraidFebruary Digest webpage, where
there's some sweet communitycontent posted there, and, while
