My friend Dre and I chat about the evolution of the Undrunken podcast, which initially focused on a 100-day challenge of abstaining from alcohol.
We share some deeply personal experiences, including emotional struggles with a close friend's alcoholism, the impact of not drinking on my life, and some huge personal growth through tough experiences.
In the show I mention the word al-ko-hol, and while the word alcohol likely comes from Arabic–although exactly which Arabic word is unclear. Some sources say it comes from the Arabic word al-ghawl, which means spirit in the demon sense. Others state alcohol comes from the word al-koh'l, a word meaning to paint, mentioning it was used for makeup. Others say that the word alcohol comes from the Arabic “Al-Kuhl” which means “ Body Eating Spirit”
I also mention a book that talked about appreciation for members of your family of origin and that book was Worthy by Jamie Kern Lima which can be found at https://worthybook.com/
