SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Welcome back to the
Unity Code where we explore
consciousness, energy, and thesubtle frequencies that connect
us all.
I am your host, Nicole Pope, andtoday we are unpacking one of
the most iconic phrases of theseason.
Oh my gosh, I forgot to turn onmy deadbell.
We need the deadbell for thisone, everybody.
Um, and for those of you thatdon't know, that little ding is
(00:22):
my deadbell.
I have officially named him, bythe way.
Uh, his name is Ernesto, afterErnesto de la Cruz.
For those of you that know theDisney movie Coco, you know.
For those of you that don'tknow, Google Coco and Ernesto,
and it will all make sense toyou.
So Ernesto is my deadbell.
He is going to be representingspirit coming through uh in this
(00:43):
beautiful session here today aswe talk about the thinning of
the veil.
That's right.
We are going to talk about whythe veil is seemingly thinner
this time of year.
And so you've probably heard itaround Halloween, Sawin, Dia de
los Muertos, this idea thatintuition sharpens, dreams are
more vivid, and the messagesfrom spirit are easier to
(01:04):
receive.
But what does that really mean?
Is it because of Earth's naturalcycles?
Is it cultural traditions, or isit something energetic that
happens beneath it all?
And so today I want to exploreall of these things, the
origins, the science, theenergy.
And of course, I'm going to giveyou my own take along with some
ways that you can experience itfor yourself this season.
(01:25):
So let's take a deep breath, settle in and explore the
thinning of the veil.
So let's talk about where thisbegins.
This idea of a thinner veil goesway back over 2,000 years to the
ancient Celts and the festivalof Sawin.
Sawin marked the end of theharvest season and the beginning
(01:47):
of winter.
And it was that liminal timewhen the days were shorter, the
nights were longer, and thenatural world began to retreat
inward.
For our ancestors, the shiftwasn't just physical with the
seasons, it was actuallyenergetic.
So they believed that duringthis changing of the seasons,
the boundary between the livingand the spirit world became more
(02:08):
permeable.
And it was a time to receiveguidance from ancestors to honor
the dead and to protect theliving through ritual and
attention.
So, what did they do?
They lit bonfires forpurification and protection.
They wore masks and costumes, not just for fun, but to confuse
wandering spirits or to embodyarchetypal power.
And they prepared food offeringsand altars inviting benevolent
(02:31):
spirits to commune with theliving.
And while that sounds mystical,it was also very practical for
them because these ritualsprovided a focus, a way for
communities to align theirattention towards something
beyond themselves.
And what spirit is making meaware of as I'm talking about
this, it wasn't just theseofferings, it was also this idea
of protection for the longwinter months ahead and making
(02:52):
sure that they were divinelyguided and protected to have
enough food, to have enoughwater, to have enough sustenance
sustenance, that's the word, um,that allowed them to endure the
harsh winter months.
And so the Celts weren't alonein this idea of the thinning of
the veil because across theworld, other cultures have
(03:14):
echoed this same awareness.
So in Mexico, whole ocean away, right?
Before the Eastern world wasaware of the Western world, in
Mexico, they celebratecelebrated Dia de los Muertos
when families created thesecolorful altars.
Thank you, spirit, um, filledwith marigolds, candles, and
food that welcomed ancestorshome.
In Japan, there was a festivalthat used lanterns to guide
(03:37):
ancestral spirits back from theother side.
In China, there was also thishungry ghost festival, I totally
want to go to this, that honorsrestless spirits through
offerings of incense and meals.
Across continents and centuries, one truth repeats itself.
Transitional times, whetherthat's moments between seasons,
light and dark, are naturallyrecognized as more open and
(03:59):
energetically alive.
Here is an interesting point.
While the northern hemisphere, which is all of the countries
we've mentioned so far, movesinto autumn during October, what
happens in the southernhemisphere is actually the exact
opposite.
They are moving into springtime.
So what happens there?
Countries like Australia, NewZealand, South Africa, October
(04:23):
means days getting longer inblossoming trees and rising
temperatures.
So people might still celebrateHalloween there culturally with
costumes and parties and maybeeven ancestor altars, but
energetically, their environmentis expressing growth rather than
retreat.
And because of that, many energypractitioners in the southern
(04:44):
hemisphere will notice thattheir own experiences of the
veil may differ.
And some might feel thatheightened intuitive connection
in October, but more typicallyin the southern hemisphere,
they're going to feel thataround April and May, when their
own autumn arrives and thenatural world begins its inward
turn.
And so, depending on where youlive, the thinning of the veil
(05:06):
is going to align with differenttimes of the year.
If you are in the northernhemisphere, it is going to align
with the October timeframe.
And if you are in the southernhemisphere, it's going to align
to the April-May timeframe.
And that is mainly because theseason of autumn, of fall, is
experienced differently atdifferent times of the year.
But that is consistent acrosscultures in the northern and
(05:27):
southern hemispheres of thisplanet.
Is that when we shift fromsummer to winter, when we shift
from lightness to darkness, andwhen our nights become longer
and our days become shorter, weconsistently across the globe
culturally feel like there is athinning of the veil, and the
spirit world is a little moreaccessible.
(05:47):
This leads us, thank you, spirit, to my next question is
what is happening scientificallythat makes us feel like the veil
is thinner?
And so let's talk about thescience behind perception.
And the goal here again isn't toreplace this mystical experience
and make you realize that thisis all hoo-e, right?
(06:10):
It really is to understand themechanisms behind the thinning
of the veil and what happensthat support this theory.
Because science and spirit oftendescribe the same truths but
through different languages.
So first up, I want to talkabout circadian rhythms and the
brain chemistry, because as daysshorten, our bodies produce more
melatonin.
And this is the hormone thatencourages rest and dreaming.
(06:33):
And so if we talk about ourbrainwave patterns, there are
three that I want to talk abouthere today.
So we have beta waves.
So that happens when you areactively working.
That's what keeps us alert.
We have alpha waves, whichinvite clarity, calm,
creativity.
And then we have theta waves, which open a doorway to
imagination, intuition, andconnection.
(06:53):
And so alpha and theta wavestend to happen more when we
connect with spirit.
And theta waves, particularly, are kind of that edge of being
awake and being asleep.
And so as we're producing moremelatonin, as we're encouraging
within our bodies more rest andreflection and dreaming, as the
brain slows and draws usinwards, it is naturally priming
(07:13):
us to connect more with thesealpha waves with these theta
waves of intuition andreflection.
So again, those seasonal quietand the darker evenings really
train our brain to move towardsthese more relaxed states of
consciousness and where we aresubtly a little more aware and
accessible of the spirit world.
Take a kind of a different spinon these brain wave and the
(07:36):
melatonin conversation I justhad, and talk more about the
environmental and behaviorchanges that happen this time of
year as well.
So the physical world around usplays such a huge role in how we
perceive subtle energy becauseas thank you, spirit, as autumn
settles in, the natural worldstarts to quiet, right?
The trees shed what no longerserves them.
(07:59):
Animals prepare to migrate orhibernate, and the air starts to
get cooler, the light softens, and everything just starts to
move a little bit slower.
And without realizing it, we ashumans mirror this rhythm.
Our bodies start to respond tothe cooler air in longer nights
by conserving energy.
Our brains again are producingmore melatonin.
(08:19):
Our schedules naturallycontract, giving us more moments
of stillness.
And in that stillness, thatslowing of sensory overload, our
perception sharpens.
So you may feel the world againinstead of just thinking about
it.
So psychologically, this createsspace for intuition to surface.
And spiritually, this makes usmore receptive to subtle
(08:40):
communication, the dreams, thesigns, the sensations that might
have gone unnoticed during therush of the summer.
And even behaviorally, excuseme, behaviorally, new podcasts,
same old stuff stumbling over mywords.
Look, I stumbled over the wordstumble.
We seek comfort and reflection.
(09:01):
We want warm drinks, dim lights, right?
Quiet conversations, the pull ofjournaling or introspection.
And it's not coincidence, it'sentrainment because your body,
your mind, and your spirit areall aligning to the energetic
tempo of the earth itself.
So when we say the veil feelsthinner, it's not necessarily
that something new is appearing.
(09:22):
It's that we finally slow downenough to notice what's already
been there.
Stillness creates perception.
And so this season, this naturalpause in the rhythm of life,
invites us to tune in andlisten.
Culturally, centuries of ritualshave trained us to notice the
thinning of the veil this timeof year.
(09:43):
Energetically and scientificallyand environmentally, we know
that we are setting ourselves upand mirroring ourselves for the
natural slowness that happens inthe environment this time of
year, allowing us to create morespace, more time to go inward
and open up our perception andour brainwaves to be more
receptive to what is happeningon the other side of the veil.
(10:03):
Now, if I take a step back and Iwant to give you my perspective
on this as a metaphysicmetaphysical practitioner, and
I'm going to invite in myguides, my loved ones, my
angels, what is interesting tome is that this time of year is
no different than any other timeof year.
And I um there might bemetaphysical practitioners that
disagree with me.
(10:23):
I am here for this because thisis a community and I want to
hear any disagreements or otheropinions on this, but I can tell
you that energetically, I don'tfeel my guides any stronger, any
closer than I did any other timeof year.
Right?
When I'm tapped into spirit, I'malways tapped into spirit.
The veil doesn't have to be thinfor me to do so.
And so the the veil, thethinning of the veil has no
(10:47):
impact on my ability tocommunicate with spirit.
It doesn't depend on a calendar,it depends on awareness.
But what is interesting to me ishow the idea of the thinning of
the veil creates the intentionof the thinning of the veil, and
it creates the intention ofbeing able to communicate more
(11:09):
easily to your departed lovedones, to your spirit guides, to
your team on the other side.
And that intention, thatcollective intention makes all
the fucking difference.
And when I talk about this, fallgives us collective permission
to feel like our loved ones arecloser.
And because we're setting theintention to feel like they're
(11:30):
closer, they are closer.
It is easier for people to begintalking to ancestors, lighting
candles, visiting cemeteries,telling stories, right?
Because when millions of heartsare turning inward and trying to
connect across the veil at thesame time, that energy amplifies
(11:51):
and we are able to connect moreeasier because the collective
intention is there to do so.
And so it's not the veil thatchanges, it is our perception
and intention that allows us toconnect better together.
And so you don't need to analyzethe physics of all of this to
work.
It's through awareness andintention that makes this
(12:12):
possible.
So I want everyone to thinkabout the science is there to
support it, but what acts butwhat actually happens when we
open our heart to receptivity isit allows it to happen more
easily, more available, andcollectively within all of us.
Isn't that fucking amazing?
It's all through intention,everybody.
(12:34):
And so with that, I wanted togive you some ideas of what you
can use this thin veil for tohelp transform your life a
little bit.
And we are going to do anexperiment on this in the coming
days.
But I do want to tell you thatif you want to explore the
thinning veil, you can do so bynumber one, tracking your dreams
before you go to bed, set aquick intention or writing a
(12:56):
little note under your pillowthat says, show me guidance
tonight in my dreams.
And then when you wake up,record anything that you
experienced in your dream, anywords, any colors and emotions,
and pay attention in the worldaround you for any additional
subtle messages that you receiverelated to your dreams.
You can light a candle for yourancestors, right?
(13:17):
In a nice quiet space, invite aloved one in, write a candle,
ask them for ancestral wisdom.
Sit with that energy, sit in thequiet, open yourself up to
receiving guidance from thatyour ancestors.
Notice any sensations that popup, any memories that pop up,
any thoughts that pop up thatdon't feel like your own.
And then over the course of theday, recognize and observe any
(13:38):
signs that come to you, anysongs, any thoughts, any
feelings, any emotions.
And notice again the pattern ofyour ancestors' guidance in what
you need to do, what steps youneed to take.
And overall, I'm just gonna saykeep a little notebook or
journal of your intuitive hits,right?
Slow down and pay attention tothe signs, the synchronicities,
(14:01):
the numbers, the phrases, thesymbols, the coincidences, and
write them down.
And again, meaning alwaysreveals itself in patterns with
this work.
Spirit doesn't come in with onegiant download of all of the
information.
Well, they do, but it's veryrare.
Um, one giant download of all ofthe information at one time,
soup to nuts, so you canunderstand everything in its
(14:21):
completion.
And that's not how this works.
It comes in in puzzle piecesthat you have to fit together.
So writing down yoursynchronicities, your intuitive
hits in a journal and noticingthe patterns is going to be the
best way for you to receivethose little bits of information
that your team sends you onebreadcrumb at a time.
And so this really closes thefirst episode, second episode of
(14:45):
the Unity Code.
And I want to thank you forexploring this beautiful
thinning of the veil topic withme today.
Because the veil is not adoorway that opens once a year.
It's a living, responsive fieldof connection.
So whether you interpret itthrough science or spirit or
both, the message is the samebecause connection is always
available.
(15:05):
The season simply makes more ofus aware of it.
And so take a breath, set anintention, and see what shows up
in your world.
You don't have to understand itfor it to work.
Being open and sending theintention of receiving is
enough.
Until next time, stay curious, stay grounded, and stay attuned
to the subtle codes that connectus all.
