Today, I am happy to talk with John Sanbonmatsu, the author of the new book "The Omnivore's Decepetion", which is a fascinating guide into who are the intellectual handmaiden of the animal exploitation world. To put it simply, think the carnist version of Peter Singer or Gary Francione. People like Michael Pollan - and if you don't know who Michael Pollan is, you are in for a surprise.
We had the chance to discuss some really interesting passages of the book, like the myth of humane meat or how farming animals is empowering to women. But first, we talked about John's position against cultivated meat. He thinks that cultivated meat is a profound strategic miscalculation for our movement. I had the chance to hear him make the case against cultivated meat in a debate against none other than Leah Garces, President of Mercy for Animals, and Bruce Friedrich, CEO of the Good Food Institute. And he did that dressed as a pirate. It is an epic debate that deserves a listen, and you are in luck because it is available as a bonus episode of the podcast.
