We recognize that as humans, we all have different interpretations, but upon joining the United States military, that sense of individualism is trained out of us. We then operate as a unit with a common objective: success. However, what would happen if the Chain of Command shifted focus from the unit's collective goal to promote individualism? What if the advancement of one individual took precedence over the safety of the rest, especially if that advancement was based solely on skin color? Such a scenario would be tantamount to injecting poison into the unit.
