(00:37):
Hello everyone. Welcome back to The Victim's
Voice. I am your host Lorelei.
And this week's episode we are going to go back to a case that
we covered in the past. It's the case of Egypt
Covington. However, in this episode we're
going to dig a little more into the investigation and some
things that people have been ledto believe over the years that
are far from the truth but untilnow couldn't be discussed.

(01:01):
Egypt, her family, and her friends have a right to have
their story told. The true story, not a version
told by an outsider who never knew Egypt and who's only tried
to make money and gain fame fromEgypt's story.
Over the last six years Egypt's family has been bullied and re
victimized by his so-called podcaster named Lindsay Brink

(01:23):
Turner. Lindsay is obsessed with all
things Egypt. Her jealousy of the people that
love Egypt and whom Egypt loved is palpable.
So is her hatred for anyone who was close to Egypt and anyone
who had a real relationship withher.
Lindsay tries to distance these people and make it sound like
they weren't close to Egypt at all, while at the same time

(01:46):
trying to make it sound like herin Egypt were the best of
friends. But what is crazy is that
Lindsay never even knew Egypt. They had never met at all.
In fact, Lindsay didn't start dating Egypt's half brother
Dwayne until six months after Egypt's murder.
But if you listen to her, she makes it sound like she was
closer to Egypt than anyone else.

(02:06):
It's crazy and ridiculous. In reality, Egypt most likely
wouldn't give this looney the time of day and would be pissed
at her brother for allowing thiswoman to harass their friends
and family whom she loved. The closer you were to Egypt and
the more of a relationship you had with her, the higher up on
Lindsay's shit list you are. That is why one of the main

(02:28):
people that Lindsay loves to talk shit on is Kristen
Covington calling her Egypt's quote UN quote, evil stepmom.
Kristen technically is Egypt's stepmom.
She married Egypt's dad Chuck when Egypt was 12 years old.
However, Egypt never called her stepmom.
She is the woman Egypt considered and called her mom.

(02:48):
The person that was there for her during the rough teenage
years that taught her to be the amazing adult that she was.
The woman that Egypt loved and that loved Egypt
unconditionally. In fact, to show you how much
Egypt loved Kristen, how much respect she had for her and how
much she considered her her mother, I'm going to play you a
clip from a birthday video that the kids made for Kristen on her

(03:11):
birthday. In it, you will hear Egypt
giving Kristen a personal birthday message.
So. This is like my 20th time trying
to take this video because you would think it'd be really easy
to just press record and list off a bunch of things that I
love about you being my mom. And it is.

(03:31):
However, the hard part is keeping you out every two
minutes. So you're not getting any jokes,
any opening lines, anything because those were all in the
first like 20 of them. You're just getting a list of
how much I love you. You are the most loving person
and the world needs more of that.

(03:52):
And to be able to say the world needs more of people like my
mother, not a lot of people say that.
And when I do see and hear of some other people's
relationships with their parents, I'm ever so grateful,

(04:13):
especially in my adult like years, that my parents are my
parents. And you have always made it easy
for me to call you mom. And your heart is so filled with
love and God and strength. And even though you sometimes

(04:35):
don't feel it, you're inspiring,You're hard working, you're
incredibly intelligent, and you deserve the world.
I'm going to do my best to give it to you, but give me some
time. And the most important thing

(05:00):
that I think that I love about you, and that's what I think
helps make our bond so strong, is that you have taught me to
not only be accepting about everybody.
You've taught me about acceptingmyself and working on the things

(05:21):
that I don't like about myself because they're not bad, but
they can change if I want them to.
You make it really, really easy to look at myself not as harshly
that I feel like I do sometimes.I love you, you're the mom.

(05:46):
I'm so happy you're my mom and happy birthday.
I'm really also sorry that I told everybody the wrong age
today. I can't believe I forgot you're
35, S For that I'm sorry. Thank you for being a really
good sport and not calling me out on it.
You're the best. And it won't, it won't happen
again. I'll post it all over Facebook
like tomorrow or something. Maybe six.

(06:08):
I'm an I'm an asshole. I love you.
Bye. I mean, that doesn't sound like
Kristen. He's the evil stepmother to me.
It sounds like Egypt loved and adored Kristen as her mom,
something Lindsay can't stand and doesn't want to admit is
true. So eventually Lindsay ended up
marrying Egypt's half brother Dwayne.

(06:29):
In my opinion the only reason she married him was so that she
could say quote UN quote my sister-in-law when referring to
Egypt because when she talks about Egypt that's what she
says. She says my sister-in-law way
more than she ever uses Egypt's name.
She has her children from her first marriage calling Egypt her

(06:50):
aunts even though they never mether and she wasn't even dating
Dwayne yet when Egypt died, let alone married to him.
It's scary how obsessed Lindsay is with someone that she had
never met. If you would like to hear in
more detail everything that Lindsay and her followers have
done to Egypt's family over the years, along with the other

(07:10):
families that have came in contact with Lindsay and her
group, you can go back and listen to the episode called Be
a Better Human, which is episode13.
And for an overview of Egypt's case, you can listen to the
episode that I did focusing solely on her case back on April
1st of 2023, which was episode 9.
In today's episode, we are goingto focus on specific things that

(07:32):
have been falsely reported over the years by Lindsay and Dwayne.
This is going to be a three-partseries, so in the next two weeks
we will discuss what was actually happening behind the
scenes between the agencies involved during the
investigation into Egypt's murder.
For years, Egypt's families had to step back quietly, not able
to tell the truth what was actually going on, for fear of

(07:54):
hindering Egypt's case and risking her justice if they
spoke up. They've had to listen to the
false information and downright lies being told by someone who
didn't know Egypt, who didn't care about Egypt or care if her
case was ever solved. This person cared only about her
personal gain and the money and recognition she was getting from
talking about Egypt. But now, Egypt's family and

(08:17):
friends can finally speak up andtell their side of the story,
the true story that most people haven't heard.
For several years now, Lindsay Brink Turner has talked to any
media outlet who would listen toher and allow her to spew her
lies, whether it be the local news stations, Facebook Live,
TikTok, or even on datelines episodes that they featured

(08:41):
Egypt's case on. She wanted her narrative and
only hers out there, and she would go to any lengths to do
it. She told everyone that because
of her protest, her emails, and all of the work that she did
that Egypt's case was eventuallyturned over to Michigan State
Police and immediately solved. In fact, her little spiel about
how she basically solved the case is at the beginning of

(09:03):
every one of her podcast episodes.
So this is what happened according to Lindsay's narrative
and what she has LED her followers to believe when it
comes to Egypt's case. Van Buren Township police did
absolutely nothing in Egypt's case except for to point the
finger at Egypt's ex-boyfriend Kenny.

(09:24):
And not only did they do nothing, they would not allow
anyone else to look into the case and do anything either.
Not the FBI, not the state police, no one.
According to Lindsay, Van Buren was adamant to Kinney, Egypt's
ex-boyfriend killed Egypt and would look nowhere else and not
take anything else into consideration.
That is, until she stepped in and had organized her protest,

(09:49):
made a Justice for Egypt Facebook page, ran her mouth a
lot, and sent out emails to all of the Van Buren Township
officials bugging the hell out of them and impeding the
investigation in the process. She not only sent out emails,
but she had anyone and everyone who would listen to her send
them out also. She even had something typed out

(10:11):
that people could copy and pastein their e-mail so that the city
was getting the same e-mail overand over, only sent by different
people. I mean, I can completely
understand how that would get aggravating.
Then, according to Lindsay, one of the city officials responded
to one of their emails saying that they were sick of this

(10:31):
stupidity, but they accidentallyleft Dwayne's name in the
e-mail. They were busted.
According to Lindsay, they were calling Egypt's murder stupid
and after this error was made, Van Buren police cowered down
and immediately handed over Egypt's case to the state

(10:51):
police, who according to Lindsay, had never been allowed
to look at the case before and it was quickly solved.
Well, that's Lindsay's version of events that she has ran with
for years. That's what she told the media,
her followers and everyone that would listen to her and if
anyone would question her or have an opinion other than hers,

(11:13):
they would be blocked. Only Lindsay's narrative was
allowed to be told, and no one was to question it.
Egypt's family and friends triedto tell people that what Lindsay
was saying wasn't true, but since they couldn't say a lot at
the time because they didn't want to impede Egypt getting
justice, they weren't able to tell all of the facts.
So people were only hearing Lindsay's narrative.

(11:36):
Lindsay used their silence against them by telling people
they weren't talking because they knew they were wrong and
that she was right. She LED her followers to believe
that Egypt's family and friends were nothing more than bullies
and that she was a victim of their abuse and harassment.
She claimed they didn't really want justice for Egypt, but that
they just wanted to punish an innocent man and to be mean to

(11:58):
her when all she was trying to do was get justice for Egypt.
Lindsay claimed that she couldn't understand why these
people were being so nasty to her, which he was just trying to
help. And of course people fell for it
because they weren't hearing both sides.
When in reality, Egypt's family and friends knew the truth and
knew what Lindsay was telling. People were lies, but because

(12:21):
they loved Egypt so much and wanted her justice for her, they
had to keep their mouth shut, not say a word as they were
asked to do by law enforcement. Lindsay was also asked to keep
her mouth shut about Egypt's case by law enforcement, yet she
chose not to. In fact, she did the complete
opposite, which in my opinion, shows that she didn't really

(12:41):
care about Egypt getting justice.
She just cared about making a name for herself.
But now things are different. Egypt's case has been quote UN
quote solved. Well, let's just say there are
three men in prison at this timewho were involved in her murder.
So Egypt's family can now tell their side of the story and
prove that everything that everyone has been told all of

(13:02):
these years by Lindsay and Dwayne are nothing more than
lies to make them look like theywere the heroes.
Lindsay never knew Egypt, but it's downright disgusting that
her husband Dwayne, Egypt's halfbrother, would go along with his
wife's lies and let her nearly ruin his sister's murder
investigation and talk shit on Egypt's family.
A family that helped him out when he was so down and out on

(13:25):
drugs so bad that he was wandering through an airport
barefoot with no Ida. Family that took him in and let
him live in their home and triedto help him get his life
together. They sure sound like horrible
people, don't they? All of this so Lindsay could
make a name for herself. So we are going to go back to
the beginning and break down what really happened.

(13:48):
The truth that Lindsay wants no one to know.
Let's start with that e-mail. Van Buren was not calling Egypt
or her murder stupid in the e-mail that they sent out.
What they actually said was thatthey didn't have time for this
stupidness. The stupidness that they were
referring to was the daily harassment that they were
receiving from Lindsay and Dwayne.

(14:09):
I mean, they were working a murder investigation, yet they
had to deal with these two dimwits on a daily basis.
Of course it would get aggravating.
Second, Dwayne's name being leftin this e-mail had nothing to do
with the state police taking over the investigation.
They weren't caught saying anything wrong in this e-mail.
Like Lindsay likes to say, they were tired of the stupid game

(14:31):
that Lindsay and Dwayne were playing, and I'm absolutely sure
they never tried to hide that from them and had actually told
them that to their faces. So Dwayne's name being left in
the e-mail really wasn't the bigdeal Lindsay made it out to be.
And the State police had been helping in the investigation
from the beginning, along with several other agencies.
They had been working right alongside with Van Buren

(14:52):
Township from the get go, which we will get into much more
detail about later. And let's talk about Kenny being
a suspect. Yes, they were absolutely right.
Kenny was Van Buren's main suspect.
I mean, why wouldn't he be? Most murders are not committed
by a random person. Most are committed by a spouse,
boyfriend, or love interest. And they not only looked at

(15:15):
Kenny the ex-boyfriend, but theyalso looked at Curtis, the
current boyfriend. I mean, he was at the scene and
he was the one that found her and he was her current
boyfriend. However, Curtis completely
cooperated with them. He didn't lie to them or flunk a
polygraph or have a history of being violent with Egypt, but
Kinney did. Kinney had been known to punch

(15:37):
holes in the walls before when he and Egypt were fighting, and
at least on one occasion, he actually pushed her into the
wall. One of Egypt's sisters said that
Kinney was in fact violent. According what she told True
Crime Daily, Egypt had confided in her on a family trip in the
months prior to her death. Egypt's sister said.
Quote, she just started spewing like everything that has

(16:00):
occurred over the years. I heard about times where he
would really get mad and punch the wall next to her head.
He really liked to shove her a lot.
From what she told me at a wedding she attended, he threw
her up against the wall. End Quote.
Egypt had also told Curtis aboutthese volatile outbursts of
Kinneys when talking about the incident at the wedding.

(16:22):
He told True Crime Daily that the cops were called but Egypt
didn't press charges because thewedding party made Egypt feel
bad, like she had somehow ruinedthe event.
In my opinion, it sounds like these people in the wedding
party might have been friends ofKinney's and not friends of
Egypt's. Egypt's sister also told True
Crime Daily quote he was so crazy and would look through her

(16:46):
phone and would blow up her friends if she didn't answer.
Where's she at? Where is she at?
I found out about how many of her friends he slept with to
belittle her to make her feel worthless.
End Quote. Apparently Kenny not only had a
bad temper and stalked Egypt, healso cheated on her all of the
time with her so-called friends. Some of these same so-called

(17:09):
friends are people who now claimto love Egypt and say that they
had been close to her up until the day she died.
These same people are also followers of Lindsay now, so
that should tell you a little bit about their character.
Kitty had also been known to stalk Egypt one night about a
month before her murder. Egypt had been staying the night

(17:30):
at Curtis's. The next morning when they woke
up, Curtis looked out the windowand saw none other than Kitty
himself. He had pulled his truck up
behind Egypt's car and was walking around it looking in the
windows, then got back in his truck and left.
After seeing this, Curtis later confronted Kinney, who tried to
explain away his strange and creepy behavior by saying that

(17:50):
he had just happened to be driving by and noticed Egypt's
sunroof was open. Since it had just started to
rain, he said that he was going to close it for her.
What a nice guy, right? This LED Curtis to think that
maybe Kenny had put some kind oftracker on Egypt's car.
And he wasn't the only one that thought that.
For a while, it seemed like everywhere Egypt went, Kenny was

(18:12):
there too. It happened so much as she
started wondering if he wasn't somehow tracking her.
At the time of Egypt's death, her and Kenny had been broken up
six to seven months. If you listen to my past episode
covering Egypt's story, then youknow that she and Curtis had
been off and on for 10 years. During the time that they were

(18:32):
off, Kinney was the only one that Egypt had been seen.
Different things in life had kept Curtis in Egypt from
continuing their relationship over the years, even though they
had never stopped loving each other.
Curtis told True Crime Daily quote.
She was a bartender. I have a daughter.
I was more of what you would say, A9 to Fiver.

(18:53):
I'm going to work. She's coming home from work.
Then in 2017, their stars aligned and it seemed that this
was the perfect time for them torekindle their relationship.
Egypt had a new nine to five job, unlike bartending that had
consisted of late nights. That was the reason for her and
Curtis not working out before. This was a big help in her and

(19:14):
Curtis's relationship. He told True Crime Daily quote,
we were on the same schedule, wecould have a dinner at 8:00 PM
together. What you would say a quote UN
quote normal relationship. So it was great.
It was perfect. End Quote.
This did not set well with Kennythough.
This time Egypt was ending things that looked like it was

(19:36):
for good and he wasn't happy about it.
Egypt did try to keep Kenny as afriend though after she got back
with Curtis. However, it didn't take long for
her to realize that this was nota good idea and it wasn't going
to work out. Towards the end of May or the
beginning of June of 2017, just weeks before her murder, Egypt

(19:57):
told her mom Kristen that she was cutting all ties with Kenny.
Being quote UN quote only friends was just not going to
work out. He couldn't accept that she was
with Curtis and that their relationship was over.
Then things went from bad to worse.
Five days before Egypt's death, on Father's Day, Sunday, June

(20:20):
June 18th, 2017, the Belleville National Strawberry Festival was
going on and everyone was there. This included Egypt, Curtis and
Kenny. This is also when Kenny found
out that Curtis was planning on moving in with Egypt in July as
soon as his lease on his currentapartment was up and he was not

(20:41):
happy at all. He knew this meant that their
breakup was final and that she was not going to leave Curtis
and come back to him like all the other times.
Curtis had seen Kenny first at the Strawberry Festival and
warned Egypt that he was hangingaround where they were getting
their drinks from. Egypt walked over and a few
minutes later came walking back to where Curtis was setting.

(21:03):
Walking right behind her was Kenny and he looked pissed.
Egypt told Curtis that Kenny hadfound out about him moving in
and that he did not take it well.
Kenny was screaming at Egypt andmaking a total fool of himself
in front of everyone. Enough was enough and after this
incident Egypt blocked Kenny from being able to text or call

(21:23):
her phone, but that didn't stop him.
After Egypt's death, the police found a message that Kenny had
sent Egypt through Facebook Messenger later on the night of
the Strawberry festival. He said that he knew she had
blocked him and that he wanted to talk to her.
He also said if she let Curtis move in that he wasn't sure how

(21:44):
he would handle it or what he might do.
What is crazy is that Kenny wasn't at the Strawberry
festival alone. He was there with a girl he who
he was supposedly dating and apparently according to her
statements after his encounter with Egypt, he and the girl got
in the car to leave and he got very aggressive trying to force

(22:04):
himself on her. Even though Egypt's family and
Curtis were concerned with Kenny's actions and behavior,
Egypt told Kristen that Kenny was like a lost puppy and she
felt bad for him. Egypt tried to see the good in
everyone. That's just how she was.
After Egypt's death, Kenny was adamant that the police check

(22:24):
his phone, telling them that it was, quote UN quote, home all
night. His phone was home at 10:00 PM.
But does that really mean anything?
How many cases have we covered where the person left their
phone at home or somewhere else to throw the police off?
And for him to keep telling the police to check his phone's
location, It seemed like maybe that was something he had
already thought about prior to talking to them.

(22:47):
They did check his phone's pingsfrom earlier in the night,
checked surveillance and trackedKenny's movements before 10:00
PM. Kenny had gone out to a couple
of bars that night, and on his way home from his little
excursion, he took a detour. It was discovered that Kenny
drove through Curtis's apartmentparking lot that night, doing a

(23:07):
quick little loop, and then left.
Why would he do that? Was he trying to see if Egypt
was there with Curtis? Or maybe to make sure Curtis was
at his house and not at Egypt's.We know this isn't the first
time he had been creeping aroundCurtis's, but was he there that
night for a specific reason? Let's talk about the polygraph

(23:28):
that Kenny failed miserably. The only thing he answered
truthfully was his name. Of course, polygraphs are not
admissible in court and can onlybe used as a tool in an
investigation. After flunking this polygraph,
Van Buren Township Police Department put pressure on him.
They brought him in for hours ofquestioning and at one point

(23:49):
they felt like he was going to crack.
But that's when old Kenny lawyered up and never said
another word to law enforcement, except through his attorney.
To this day, Lindsay Brink Turner says that Egypt's family
owes Kinney a public apology fordragging his name through the
mud and for thinking that he killed Egypt.
But why wouldn't they think thatwith everything that we know?

(24:11):
First of all, Egypt's family andfriends were listening to the
police like you're supposed to do.
The police are the ones investigating, and they know
things that no one else knows. When it comes to an
investigation, they have reasonsfor not releasing certain things
and keeping information close tothe vest.
The public doesn't have a right to know everything that law

(24:32):
enforcement knows in an investigation.
Whatever they tell you, considerit a gift and then let them do
their job. Just as Egypt's family and
friends were doing. Law enforcement releases to the
public what they want or need totell them at the time, but for
some reason Lindsay felt she wasentitled to any and all
information regarding Egypt's case and felt law enforcement

(24:54):
should tell her any and everything that she wanted to
know and when they wouldn't it pissed her off.
Lindsay felt that Egypt's familyand friends should listen to her
and not law enforcement, but because they chose to listen to
authorities and not her, this really pissed her off and
started the war between them. Now let's continue talking about

(25:16):
Kenny being their suspect. Kenny is not a good person.
He was never a good boyfriend. He was volatile.
He cheated on Egypt any chance he got and not only cheated but
it was with her friends to top it off and he stalked and
harassed her. Maybe if he hadn't done all of
these things that he had done before and after Egypt died,

(25:37):
then he wouldn't have been a suspect in her murder.
It's not like he was ever arrested or ever set in jail for
even a day and he was never charged.
He was a suspect. A lot of people are suspects in
cases. Some are eventually cleared when
new evidence comes into play, and then there are some who will
remain suspects forever, but there are just never enough

(25:57):
evidence to charge them with anything.
This doesn't mean the victim's family and friends owe them any
kind of apology or need to kiss their ass in any way.
Egypt's family and friends had aright to their opinion and had a
right to listen to law enforcement instead of the
whacked out weird ass girlfriendof a family member who has no
clue what she's even talking about.

(26:19):
Especially when the friends of family knew Egypt and knew what
she had gone through with that asshole of a boyfriend.
They talked to her daily and knew what was going on in her
life. Not Lindsay.
And why is Lindsay working so hard to defend Kenny?
What's in it for her or what's in it for her husband?

(26:40):
Why hasn't Lindsay ever brought up what Timothy Moore said in
his sentencing when he said there is more to the story of
what happened to Egypt and her family deserves to know what
that is, but that they never will?
What could it be? Are there others involved that
are still free? Was this more than some guys
looking for weed and going to the wrong door?
Were they sent there to harm Egypt for a reason or to send

(27:01):
out a message? I mean Egypt's murder was
personal. She was bound with Christmas
lights post mortem. If these guys just happened to
go in the wrong door when they were looking for weed, why shoot
someone? That's a big jump from stealing
weed. And why take the time after you
killed a person to bind their hands with Christmas lights?
That in itself was very personaland it seemed like a waste of

(27:24):
time when they could have used that time to go find the weed
that they were there to get unless there was a reason for it
and they never did take any weed.
So what was the point of all of this?
You would think Miss Justice andTruth Seeker would be looking
into all of this along with Tim Moore's statement, yet she has
never mentioned it once. All she talks about is how

(27:45):
wonderful Kenny is and how horrible Egypt's family and
friends are. Could it be that Lindsay is
trying to get the focus off of what Tim said and off of Kenny
because the answers might hit her close to home?
So back to the investigation. Yes, Van Buren was definitely
looking into Kinney. They had never reasoned to, but
it was not true that they were keeping the case to themselves

(28:07):
and not letting other agencies in.
It's also not true that they were just sitting back waiting
for something to fall into theirlaps.
In fact, the FBI and Michigan State Police were working with
Van Buren from the beginning on Egypt's case.
MSP told Van Buren that they weren't going to take over the
case, but that they would help them in any way that they could.

(28:28):
Oakland County, a neighboring county to Wayne County where Van
Buren is located, also helped out on some things in the case,
such as with the phone data and some grainy videos that were
obtained, which the FBI also looked at.
An investigation is a process, aprocess between many different
agencies and most of the time a long process.

(28:50):
And in Egypt's case, it was because of the Michigan State
Police Crime lab's involvement that it took so long to solve.
However, you will never hear Lindsay mention this because of
the fact that it contradicts hernarrative, the narrative that
because of her actions, the state police took the case over
and immediately solved. Lindsay was able to run with

(29:11):
this narrative for years, but now that the case is considered
closed, evidences came out to prove that everything that she
has said about the state police's involvement and what
happened leading up to the threemen's arrest was a lie.
During any investigation, especially a murder
investigation, there are always several agencies with a

(29:32):
different hand in the case. Each agency has their own job to
do, and as long as everyone doestheir job and it communicates
well with each other, then things go smoothly.
However, when one hand is not doing their job or
communicating, things can fall apart really fast.
That is what happened in Egypt'scase and Van Buren took the

(29:52):
brunt of the scrutiny, especially from bullies like
Lindsay and her followers, when in reality it was not their
fault at all. And that has been confirmed by
Michigan State Police themselves, which we will get
into more in the upcoming episodes.
On May 7th, 2020, Detective Bettendorf, who had taken over

(30:13):
Egypt's case in 2019, talked to someone at the prosecutor's
office. He wanted to know if they had
gotten any information on the case and could help him to
understand what the hold up was on the evidence and talk about
how they were going to move forward.
She confirmed that she had gotten these reports.
He then tells her about Lindsay and Dwayne and all of the
problems they were causing and how they were hindering the

(30:36):
investigation. He stated that Egypt and her
half brother Dwayne had never been had much of a relationship.
From what he had been told, theyhad bartended together in a
couple of places and talked occasionally, but we're never
really close. And Lindsay, as we know, had
never known Egypt at all, yet they were for some reason trying

(30:57):
to cause all kinds of problems in the investigation.
He said that Lindsay and Dwayne were causing friction on social
media by spreading lies and false information, which in turn
was making the case even harder to deal with than it already
was. Lindsay would call the detective
to say she had some tips, pick an argument with him, and then

(31:18):
record the call, which she wouldlater edit to fit her narrative.
She's really good with that recorder, except she never seems
to record the full conversations.
She then would take her edited recording and post it on social
media. And of course, we already know
about the crazy emails they weresending, which Bettendorf said

(31:39):
indicated, quote, UN quote, the pattern of her insanity.
But he also mentions the fact that they were sending in
several FOIA requests for information on Egypt's case and
open investigation. Why Lindsay thought she was able
to FOIA information from a case that was open and active, I
don't understand. She just thinks she's above the

(32:01):
law in my opinion and can do whatever she wants.
Which brings us to the next sneaky, sneaky thing that
Lindsay did. Lindsay doesn't take no for an
answer, and when she was denied the FOIA request, she wasn't
going to stop there. She knew a person that worked in
evidence records for the county. The person she knew was also a
friend of Egypt's, so this person thought she was doing the

(32:24):
right thing. When Lindsay came in and said
she was investigating Egypt's case and requested the autopsy
report, autopsy photos, the 911 call and several other items
from Egypt's case file. So the person gave them to her,
thinking she was helping out. Once Lindsay got a hold of these

(32:44):
items, she then shared them withthe podcaster of Big Mad True
Crime, Heather Ashley, which Heather went over in detail on
her series as she did on Egypt'scase.
Heather was very vocal in the fact that she had received this
information from Lindsay, even though Lindsay would later state
on social media that she had never seen or had access to

(33:08):
anything in Egypt's case file. I have posted a clip on the
Victim's Voice Facebook page where Heather states that she
got this information from Lindsay.
Also, Heather Ashley's husband Kyle, who is a former cop, was
seen in a picture that was posted on social media examining
a necklace of Egypt that they claim was lying on the table in

(33:30):
her apartment. It was the necklace that she had
been wearing when she was murdered.
So how did they get it and why? Were they allowed to take
something from Egypt's apartmentor did they take it without
permission? I will post the picture of Kyle
looking at Egypt's necklace on the Victim's Voice Facebook
page. Detective Bettendorf also told

(33:52):
the prosecutor's office that Egypt's mom's side of the family
was adamant that Kinney was not the one who murdered Egypt.
This included Lindsay and Dwayne, even though Detective
Bentendorf had said that there was far more evidence supporting
the fact that Kenny did do it than not, such as his anger at
her over Curtis moving in and his actions leading up to her

(34:14):
death. The felt polygraph.
His DNA being on the throw pillow that had been placed over
Egypt's head before she was shotto muffle the sound.
Even though like we have alreadysaid, his DNA was probably all
over the apartment. There is also the fact that he
was seen driving through Curtis's apartment complex the
night Egypt died. Yet some people in Egypt's mom's

(34:38):
side of the family believe that the killer was anyone but Kenny.
They believe this because of thesimple fact that Egypt's little
dog Ruby, who was in the apartment when Egypt was
murdered, did not act funny around Kenny after the murder,
because Ruby still allowed Kinney to hold her pet her

(35:01):
rubber tummy, then there was no way that he was Egypt's killer.
This is seriously what they werebasing their conclusion on.
Bettendorf then told the prosecutor's office that the
same part of Egypt's family, along with Lindsay and Dwayne
who believe this about Ruby, wastrying to blame Egypt's death on

(35:25):
the neighbors on the other side of the duplex.
Stephen Megan stating that they had lots of illegal drugs in
their apartment and if they didn't have those drugs then
someone wouldn't have been trying to break in, therefore
wouldn't have went to the wrong door and Egypt wouldn't have
been killed. So let's talk about Steve and
Megan since even now in Lindsay's most recent episodes

(35:48):
she has bullied them and made untrue statements about them.
But that isn't surprising since they knew Egypt personally and
were two people whom she loved and were close to.
Which we know enrages Lindsay and makes her jealous.
And This is why Lindsay is targeting them in my opinion.
She just can't stand anyone who had a real life relationship

(36:09):
with Egypt. Her jealousy is beyond obvious.
Lindsay has said that Stephen and Megan were not friends of
Egypt's, which we know is a lie.In fact, they were actually very
good friends. Egypt was even their daughter's
godmother. At the time of Egypt's death,
Stephen and Megan were out of town 2 hours away at a music

(36:30):
festival called Electric Forest in Rothbury, MI.
Egypt usually went to Electric Forest with Stephen Megan, but
she didn't go that year because she had just gotten back from a
family vacation and had started her new job, so it didn't work
out for her to be able to go with them.
However, while Steve and Megan were gone, Egypt was watching a

(36:52):
litter of pups that their dog had just given birth to.
In fact, Egypt was purchasing one of the pups from Stephen
Megan, which she named Buddha. Egypt's sister ended up taking
Buddha after Egypt's death and still has the dog to this day.
Sounds like Stephen, Megan and Egypt were pretty good friends

(37:12):
to me. In the quote UN quote illegal
drugs in Stephen Megan's apartment?
There weren't any. Steve had a legal medical
marijuana dispensary, but it wasn't in his apartment and he
didn't keep the marijuana there. So what if they did have a
little weed in their apartment? That doesn't make it OK for
someone to break in and it doesn't make it Steve and

(37:33):
Megan's fault if someone does break in and goes in the wrong
apartment. Lindsay's logic behind this is
ridiculous. And when it comes to Lindsay,
Dwayne and drugs, all I have to say is people who live in glass
houses shouldn't throw stones. Also, while we are talking about

(37:53):
people breaking into Stephen Megan's apartment, it would be
broken into again after Egypt's murder.
And even though Lindsay and Dwayne blamed the first break in
on Stephen Megan because of whatthey might have kept in their
own personal home, Lindsay seemed to be OK with the second
break in. In fact, she was somewhat
involved in it. See, while they had their noses

(38:13):
in Egypt's murder investigation, they had hired a private
investigator named David Pomeroy.
This guy was as shady as they come and was well known by
members of law enforcement, and not in a good way.
He had actually broken into Megan and Steve's home while
they were gone during his quote UN quote, investigation into

(38:34):
Egypt's death. Of course, Steve and Megan went
straight to the police and pressed charges on this lowlife
and they were serious about holding him accountable for
invading their privacy and breaking into their home.
Well, of course, Lindsay and Dwayne didn't like this one bit.
In fact, this is what led to theinfamous dinner at Chuck and

(38:55):
Kristin Covington's house. You know, the dinner that
Lindsay loves to talk about and give her version of the story,
which isn't accurate at all, butthat's nothing new.
After Steve and Megan press charges against Pomeroy, Dwayne
and Lindsay reached out to Chuckand Kristen.
They weren't on bad terms at this point just yet.

(39:16):
I mean Chuck and Kristen weren'thappy with the things Lindsay
was doing, but they did love Dwayne and wanted to make sure
Egypt got justice, so they were keeping quiet.
Dwayne and Lindsay reached out to Kristen and Chuck and asked
if they can meet up for dinner so they could discuss some
things regarding Egypt's case. So they set up a time and
Lindsay and Dwayne came to the Covington home where they met

(39:37):
with Chuck and Kristen and also Egypt's best friend Lenny,
another person that Lindsay loves to harass him bully
because she was close to Egypt. It didn't take long for everyone
to realize what this dinner was about.
Lindsay and Dwayne wanted Chuck and Kristen to talk to Stephen,
Megan and get them to drop the charges against Pomeroy, and

(39:59):
when they said they weren't going to do that, all hell broke
loose. The conversation eventually
turned to Kenny and Kristen and Chuck and Chuck couldn't get a
word in edgewise over Lindsay's mouth.
Not surprising, Dwayne sat therethe entire time not saying a
word. Even when Chuck asked him his
opinion on everything, it was crickets from him.

(40:22):
Dwayne seemed to be scared to have an opinion in fear of what
Lindsay might say about it. At one point during this
craziness, Lindsay had the audacity to tell Chuck that he
was too black for her. But that wasn't even the worst
thing that came out of her mouththat night.
When Chuck and Kristin told Lindsay that they were not going

(40:42):
to try to talk Stephen Megan into dropping charges, Lindsay
Lindsay actually told them that she had a friend in the state
police and that she would make sure all of the evidence in
Egypt's case was destroyed and that she would make sure that
Egypt never got justice. Yes, this person who talks about
Egypt as though they were best friends, screams about justice

(41:06):
for Egypt to anyone who will listen, claims to have done all
of these things to get the case solved, had the nerve to say
that she would make sure the case was never solved and that
Egypt would never get the justice that she deserved.
She had the audacity to say thisto Egypt's family, the people
who are actually grieving the loss of Egypt as she was a real

(41:27):
person to them and they had a real relationship with her.
Then after this, Lindsay plays dumb and acts like she doesn't
have a clue why the covenants don't want anything to do with
her. She is a disgusting excuse for a
human being and the biggest manipulating narcissist that
they have ever come across in mylife.

(41:48):
So back to the phone call. Detective Bettendorf told the
prosecutor's office that Lindsaydidn't realize that she was
actually hurting Egypt's case more than helping it.
But I disagree. I believe that Lindsay's goal
all along was to hurt Egypt's case, as her actions and her
words have shown, especially when she already had threatened

(42:08):
to have the evidence destroyed. He said that Lindsay was
demanding that they turn the case over to someone else, but
the FBI wouldn't take it. It was a state level case as far
as they were concerned, not federal.
Michigan State Police said they would help any way they could,
which they had been doing since the beginning, but that they

(42:28):
weren't taking it over completely.
This week we've cleared up some things that Egypt's family
hadn't been able to talk about until now, So only one version
was being told. But next week is when we will
dive into some phone calls exchanged between Van Buren and
Michigan State Police Crime Lab and talk about what exactly was

(42:52):
going on and what led to the arrest happening.
And believe me, it had absolutely nothing to do with
Lindsay or Dwayne. For photos and discussions about
this episode, join us on the Victims Voice Facebook page and
come back next week for Part 2 of The Truth Behind the
Investigation of Egypt Covington.

(43:14):
Until then, peace out.
