Prakash Koirala is a true Change Agent.
This often-awarded, and highly regarded financial literacy educator has made it his life's work to ensure that future generations around the world are able to have important conversations around money. In 2017 he established Finlit Nepal, to teach basic personal finance to low-income and vulnerable Nepalese communities.
Though running workshops and providing important information, he was acutely aware that such complex detail would be easily forgotten if not reinforced by a connected activity. From this awareness, he introduced the concept of the 'Piggy bank'. This alone helped to rewire the mindsets of the many young and older generations to whom he shared this seemingly simple idea, when it came to understanding the intention behind savings, and future financial management.
Prakash takes Finlit into governments, companies, and neighbourhood groups to help create financial policies and programs. FINLIT Nepal won The London Institute of Banking & Finance and UK Finance Financial Innovation Award 2017. Harvard Kennedy School Scholarship recipient, and award-winning financial inclusion champion and policymaker, Prakash is helping reduce poverty through education.
