And I'm your other
co-host, Mr Eric Almighty, and
for this edition of CreatorSpotlight we are going back to
the well of friends that we madeat Brick City.
If anything, Phil, we're tryingto collect the infinity stones
of voice actors that we'vebecome very good friends with
since Brick City passed inFebruary, but an episode that
(01:01):
has been long overdue and we'revery excited to jump on to
tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
But an episode that
has been long overdue and we're
very excited to jump on totonight.
Yeah, super excited, as youknow, curator spotlight is you
know, Eric you talked about inour international feature
episode like that's.
One of the proudest things thatwe've been able to do is
continue that series and this islike one B, you know, like one
A and one B between those twoseries, and that's because we
get to talk to cool people thatwe have made friends with along
the way, and tonight is nodifferent.
(01:26):
So, Eric, as far as InfinityStones, I want to ask our guest
It'll be your first questionwhich Infinity Stone are you?
Please welcome in our guest,Rue Ryder, voice actress,
streamer, cosplayer.
Rue, it's so good to see you.
How are you tonight?
Which Infinity Stone are you?
Speaker 2 (01:43):
I know there's a few
colors.
Do they mean things?
Speaker 3 (01:46):
Yes, which one is?
Josh Eric.
Josh is what Maybe Power Stone.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Man, you really
wanted to throw a wrench to
start off the episode.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
You said Infinity
Stone, so that got me.
Yeah, but I meant Is there ablue one?
So I'll go.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Yeah, there's a
couple, there's a couple.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
Infinity Stones.
The blue one is the space stone.
Yeah, are you Sure?
Are you big into it?
Okay, there you go, yeah We'llbe the space stone Perfect.
Crazy.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
Had to maybe pull up
infinity stones.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
You brought it up, I
ran with it.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
I thought you were
lobbing it up to me so I ran
with it.
Yeah, you know, I saw Ruecosplay as Thanos once.
Yeah, especially her cosplay.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
That's it, she was
full on purple.
It was great, I knew it.
I knew it Well.
Rue, thank you so much forbeing here.
How are you doing tonight?
Speaker 2 (02:37):
I'm doing pretty good
.
Thank you guys for having me.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Yeah, like Eric said,
you're super busy so we knew we
had to make sure we got you onthe schedule and it's really
great to see you and hear fromyou, but it's going to be a
really fun episode.
So for anybody that is new tothe podcast and maybe you're
from Rue's audience, make sureyou stick around.
At the very end of the episodeWe'll let you know where you can
(03:02):
find everything you needregarding Wayfarer Podcast, as
well as Rue.
But, eric, anything else weneed to go over before we jump
into this very, very funconversation, and then you
inevitably rig a game against me.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Well, you know that
may or may not happen.
We are going to see whether ornot that's the case.
I have been accused of suchatrocities, but tonight we don't
know what's in store.
And, rue, honestly I don't haveanything else to bring up other
than to maybe kind of throwyour first lob to you For our
audience.
You know we've definitely beenpretty open about our experience
(03:31):
at Brick, getting to meet youand some of your other castmates
as well for a very special showthat you're a part of.
I'd like to give you anopportunity just to introduce
yourself and also you know, notonly what you do but what you've
got going on, before we kind ofget into the nitty gritty of
this episode.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Yeah, absolutely so.
I'm Rue Ryder.
I'm mostly known for my voice.
Yeah, I mean, that makes sense.
Yeah, I'm known for my voice.
I'm known for voicing TorikoKoshi in the show my Dear Friend
Nokotan, which is a super sillyanime about a deer girl, and
then my character characterwho's a former delinquent who is
now dealing with this deer girland is now the president of a
deer club that she had nointerest in being a part of.
(04:11):
So it's, it was a lot of fun.
But outside of that, though,I've been doing, um, a lot more
video games lately, which is sofun, so cool.
Um, I love doing video gamestuff because it can be super
grounded and, you know, likerealistic, but then other times
it's super fun and over the top.
So I've been doing that, someanimation things and a bunch,
just a bunch, of other things, and then, like you were saying
(04:33):
earlier, a lot of cons coming up, a lot of cons coming up this
year.
So I'm just very excited to bea part of the you know, the
space.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Yeah, and we knew
that we had to have you know,
you guys on as we make our waythrough the cast, because it's
already radiating right now, erica, and I'm sure our audience
will pick up on it.
Just the energy that all of youbring is so much fun and I
can't wait to see you guys again, whether you know whether it be
at another convention or orwell, for you and I it's going
to be at our Florida voiceovermeetup, which I'm super excited
about in August and I neverreally want to do anything
(05:10):
Disney, but I was likethroughout Disney Springs I was
like we can do that, I'll go.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
I'll make an
exception.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
Yeah, that'll be fine
, but but I want to ask you know
what, as we we've had quite afew voice actors on the podcast
and we always want to know whatyour journey was.
Is this something that youalways knew was going to be an
option for you, or were you oneof those theater nerds and
that's how you got into this?
What was your journey?
Speaker 2 (05:34):
So my journey was I
was an athlete growing up and I
basically did sports my wholelife.
Until college I was doing track, cross-country volleyball,
soccer, basketball, swimming,all the stuff.
And I really enjoyed thingslike theater, like I really
enjoyed Disney movies andTangled is my favorite one.
(05:55):
So I was really inspired by,you know, rapunzel and
everything.
She's my favorite Disneyprincess.
And you know I wanted to dotheater but my schedule wouldn't
really allow it because I wasdoing so many sports.
It's like, oh, you know Iwanted to do theater but my
schedule wouldn't really allowit because I was doing so many
sports.
It's like, oh, you got practiceafter school, you have meets on
the weekends and games andstuff.
You didn't really have time todo it.
So I did audition for one playback in seventh grade I think,
(06:18):
and my friend told me the daybefore the audition.
They said, hey, there's anaudition tomorrow and she was
big into the theater that I wasgoing to audition for.
So she was like alreadyprepared, she had everything.
She's like you need a monologueand you need a song.
I didn't know what a monologuewas, I had no idea.
A song, sure, what kind of songshould I sing?
(06:39):
And she was like maybe a Disneysong.
So I sang Feed the Birds fromMary Poppins and I did not get
any role in the show.
I didn't get stage crew either.
So back then that was, you know,it kind of saved me to be able
to continue doing the sports, because once I got into college
(07:00):
I ended up dropping from collegeas I found a lot of other voice
actors also too.
But once I got out of there Istarted doing party princess
stuff.
So I would be an entertainerfor kids, parties and everything
.
So I would dress up as thedifferent princesses perform,
sing, and it was all improv, nothing was really scripted.
So that was kind of my firstactual dive into acting scripted
(07:26):
.
So that was kind of my firstactual dive into acting.
And then during COVID I actuallyworked with another voice
actress who at the time wasdoing a lot of indie stuff and
is now very successful in theircareer.
And I didn't know that voiceacting was like a thing.
You know I was like I mean, Iknew it was a thing, but I
didn't know it was a thing thatI could do.
So I was just like, oh, that'sreally cool.
So then when COVID was, youknow, really starting to kick in
.
My husband showed me a video ofsomeone explaining about voice
(07:49):
acting and casting call club, and from there I looked into it
a little bit.
And then 2022 came around andthat's when I was like, all
right, let's try auditioning forthings.
And then I did.
And then I've taken classes.
I've been a part of so manydifferent productions, you know,
I've met so many friends andthat's kind of how I got here
Not much acting experiencebeforehand.
I just kind of dove in andhoped for the best.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Yeah, I think the
Feed the Birds poll is crazy.
I was like, what song did shesing?
Feed the Birds.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
I told you for sure
it was going to be a Tangled
song.
I definitely would have putmoney on a Tangled song.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
It's so funny though.
Like everything in my lifebecause, as most people know
about me, I love my chickens, mybirds and stuff.
It's like everything in my lifehas kind of led up to where I'm
at with birds.
It just never occurred to meuntil I became an adult.
Like Feed the Birds is thatsong my?
Like Feed the Birds is thatsong?
My favorite Pokemon growing upwas like Blaziken and stuff,
which is just a giant chickenand everything.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Solid choice.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Yeah, just everything
is like bird related growing up
and I just made that connectionwith that song too.
That's crazy.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
That's insane.
Well listen, that's what we'rehere to do is we're diving deep
into it.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
We're unlocking
generational memories.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
You didn't even know.
But obviously journey intovoice acting is amazing.
I know that chickens is not theonly thing that you've grown up
with over the year that hasbeen so important to you but
also cosplay, and I'm verycurious what has that journey
been like?
Has it always been somethinglike since youth that you've
(09:23):
been interested in and issomething you've kept up with
today?
Because it seems to be as mucha part of your journey as the
voice acting is, at least fromthe social media standpoint like
getting to see the differencebetween your two accounts and
the love and passion you havefor each of the things that
you're doing on each of them.
So where does cosplay kind offit in your journey?
Speaker 2 (09:44):
So growing up, I
loved dressing up.
Like I love dressing as HannahMontana.
That was like my favorite thing.
That was the show that I waslike I want to be like her, I
want to be the you know, thesuperstar, but then also have
like a secret identity.
But so I started dressing upwhen I was really little and
then again, like when I got intothe character performing stuff,
(10:05):
that was kind of when I starteddressing up.
So that was like 2016 or so andthat was.
You know, I didn't really getto pick who I dressed up as,
because it was whoever, um, theparent wanted for that party or
for that event.
So it'd be like Rapunzel, elsa,um, anna, I've done like, uh,
like Ariel, I think.
So it was very dependent onwhat they wanted, but I mean, I
(10:29):
still had fun with it because itwas princesses I love the
princesses.
And then, in 2019 or so, myhusband told me about this game
called Danganronpa, which a lotof people are very familiar with
, and he's like I think you'dlike this game and I didn't
start playing it yet, but Ireally enjoyed the aesthetic of
the character, junko Enoshima, and I was like I want to dress
(10:52):
up as her.
And he's like do it.
So I ordered the stuff onAmazon and then put on the wig.
It wasn't styled or anything.
This is 2019.
Tiktok had just become TikTokfrom Musically and I just threw
that on and I actually had avideo go viral back in 2019 of
me with my rooster or two of mychickens, where it was that pew,
(11:14):
pew, pew, hold up, wait aminute, it's a chop.
It was a weird audio, but ifyou know, you know.
But I did a video like that andthen I got.
That's kind of where I got myfollowers from was from that
video in 2019.
And then I was able to do likelive streams and stuff on Tik
TOK and the people there wereactually, you know, super, super
(11:35):
kind and they were donatingmoney through Tik TOK or like, I
guess, tipping or whatever itwas called on there, and I was
able to afford to go to my firstconvention ever, which was
MegaCon in 2019.
So that was my first con everand then from there it was just
I really enjoyed hanging outwith other people with the same
interests, just enjoyed crafting.
(11:55):
Like the crafting kind of came alittle bit later, but once I
learned that, like sewing, it isabout as scary as it seems but
it's still manageable.
I was like I want to try sewing, I want to try foam crafting,
painting and all that.
So I just kind of picked upthose little bits as I went and
then I picked characters that Ireally liked, that I'd have a
(12:15):
passion to cosplay, because ifyou're trying to cosplay
something you don't have anypassion for, it's going to feel
like a chore, like it's alreadygoing to kind of feel like a
chore, but it's going to feellike a chore.
You don't want to do so.
From there I and then I gotinto One Piece like two years
ago, and so like all of myrecent cosplays are like all One
Piece related, like Chopper, buggy, nami, sanji, luffy,
(12:40):
everything.
That's great, yeah, phil you cansit this one out.
We're able to talk some One.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Piece.
That's usually how it goes.
I will ask because I am stillalso very early into One Piece.
I've already talked recentlyabout possibly switching over to
the manga for my own personaljourney.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
I'm going to take you
off for a second really, gary,
because you say you're prettyearly in your One Piece journey,
but you're like 100 plusepisodes in which is-.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
That's so early, that
is so early.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
That shouldn't be a
thing.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
You're not listening.
That shouldn't be-.
Yeah, you don't get it.
You don't get it, phil, that'sthe beauty though.
I'm going to dead.
No, don't do that, you're gonnamake me mad.
We did go to that, we did go tothat, uh, but yeah, so I'm in
skypea right now.
I had started watching it andthen I started re-watching it
from the beginning so my familycould take part in it, and you
(13:35):
know, the anime can be a grind.
I admit that I love it fromepisode one, though, like I'm,
I'm in it for the long haul.
So I've been.
I've been thinking aboutjumping into the manga and that
I say all that to ask where youare in your journey and what has
it been about One Piece thathas been such an interest of
yours, because I feel likeeverybody's answers have
(13:56):
similarities, but everybody'sjourney with One Piece is a
little different.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Oh, I hate that we
get on this, because I could
talk for years about this.
No, this is perfect.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Phil's just like.
Oh God, no, phil's going to gograb a drink.
He's going to go eat Phil'sMavericks cup.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
Yeah, so I am on
about episode 870 right now and
I'm actually I'm still not evenclose to the end or like to
where they're at right now.
I still got another 300, 400episodes, something like that.
So I don't know when I startedit.
I will admit I started it outof spite.
I was like there's no way thiscan be good, this like there's
(14:33):
so many episodes they'reovercompensating for something
like there's no way people areactually watching this.
So I actually started it, Ibelieve, when I was making my
Krampus version of JunkoAnoshima for Holiday Matsuri,
which is a holiday convention, and I was just kind of putting
it on in the background becausecosplays take hours.
So I was like this is theperfect thing to just have.
(14:55):
You know, I don't have toreally pay too much attention.
And as I'm watching it, I juststarted getting more and more
interested.
But I was such a hater.
The first thing I said was Ithink the show looks dumb.
And then, who is the guy withthe curly eyebrows?
That's the dumbest thing I'veever seen.
And now Sanji is my absolutefavorite character of all time,
(15:16):
like of anything, ever Ofanything, ever.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Sanji's your guy.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Yes, I love him guy.
Yes, he is, I love him.
But it's like every backstoryfor me just shows, you know, the
hardships of what eachindividual person as just a
human or, I guess, as a reindeeror a skeleton.
You know, we all have our ownbackstories where we come from.
And for me it's the beauty ofthe found family with everybody,
(15:41):
because they all are kind of ontheir own for the most part and
then they just find that theycan still be happy.
It doesn't have to be with, youknow, their blood family or
anything, it can just be withthe people you find along the
way.
And it really resonates with mebecause growing up I didn't
have too many like close, closefriends.
I had like a friend or two butthey one of them was not very
nice to me but I thought it wasfriendship because I was like,
(16:03):
oh, they're paying attention tome.
Turns out they were bullying mebut I just didn't know so at
this point in my life.
I now have, you know, multipleclose friends of mine, like Josh
, who you guys had.
Me and Josh have connected somuch over the last few weeks,
just from like going to cons andstuff.
You know he's a really greatperson.
(16:23):
Um, I have my friend Megan whovoices um Neko in my Dear Friend
no Katan, like we we met alittle bit before that show and
everything and it's like thesepeople now in my life are the
closest friends I've ever hadand they are the most
comfortable, like I've neverbeen so comfortable with a group
of people before.
So having One Piece is kind ofthat like reminder where Luffy's
(16:45):
just like you're my friend, nowyou're on board, let's go, and
just everybody becomes a familytogether, learns you know how to
work with each other, how toget over, you know arguments and
everything.
So it's just a really beautifulreminder of how life can be.
So that's kind of where Ireally resonate with it.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Yeah, I love that,
and, again, it's always
wonderful to hear whereeverybody sits with it, because
I think One Piece speaks like auniversal language that everyone
can kind of really buy into, except for Phil.
So, phil, this is youropportunity.
Now you jump right back in andtake control of the episode,
because otherwise we'll justkeep going here.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
Yeah, let's do that.
So, yeah, no, I'll give Ericthat time.
It's okay, it's totally fine, because he can't talk to me
about it.
So when he gets an opportunityto talk to someone else he's
like, please.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Someone, please talk
to me.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
Remember that friend
that was bullying you?
Well, I haven't figured it out.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
I'm still friends
with him.
Don't worry, eric, me and youwill talk after this.
That's right, please, and shoutout to Megan, who you mentioned
, who was the TA for my classwith closing credits.
She is awesome.
But when we talk about, like, shifting to video games you've
already talked about Danganronpa, as you know already.
What other games as well, kindof you know.
You said that you growing upyou, you were an athlete, so you
(18:10):
were pretty busy with that.
Were there a lot of games thatkind of shaped you when you were
younger?
Or and also, what are youplaying now?
We definitely know about Repo, which we we still are behind.
We need to get together and play, I know know, I know, but what
are those games that shaped youearly on, if there were any, and
also, what are you playing now?
Speaker 2 (18:28):
So I would say,
definitely, growing up, I was
big with the GameCube.
Oh, I loved the GameCube.
It's still like my favoriteconsole to play.
I usually played it a lot withmy cousins who were about a
month older than me and a yearyounger than me, so we were very
close in age and growing upbetween like the ages of
(18:48):
probably like three and like 12or so, we were always playing
video games together.
They were, you know, they're twoboys and I was the only girl,
so I would always pick the girlcharacters for everything.
Like it was just that typical, like they'd fight over who gets
to play what and I'm just likeI'll take the girl, and that
settled that.
But it was just that typicallike they'd fight over who gets
to play what and I'm just likeI'll take the girl, and that
settled that.
But it was a lot of.
I loved things like Mario Kart, double Dash that was one of my
(19:11):
favorites.
Uh, kirby Air Ride, which Iknow some of these games are
coming out for, like the Switch2 and stuff.
But I don't have that kind ofmoney to get the Switch 2, so,
uh, I'm just gonna have to finda GameCube, think of the tariffs
.
Yeah, I'm just going to have tofind a GameCube.
Think of the tariffs.
Yeah, I'm just like doesanybody have a free game, a
spare GameCube somewhere, please?
I'll give you like a hundredbucks, I don't know, but that.
(19:32):
And then again this goes backto the whole bird thing.
One of my favorite games everwas the game Billy Hatcher,
which is a kind of very nichegame.
It's from 2003 and it's about aboy named Billy and he is kind
of dressed up as like a littlechicken boy basically, and he
rolls around these eggs andhatches them.
He goes and then it likehatches open the eggs.
(19:53):
And it was a Sega game too.
So like there was a cameo ofSonic was in there too.
Like you could hatch Sonic outof an egg it was.
It was really cool.
But that was one of my absolutefavorite games ever Because you
just like roll around the map,you have like the boss guys that
you have to fight, you havelittle creatures that get to be
like your buddy, that havesuperpowers.
It was a lot of fun.
(20:14):
But that and the Shrek games.
I was obsessed with the Shrekgames on the GameCube as well.
The.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Shrek games are
underrated.
They are crazy good.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
They were so good.
I think it was the Shrek 2 gamethat I loved so much, because
that's when they go to like thekingdom and stuff, like when
they meet Fiona's father andeverything and mom, yeah, that
game there was like a party gamethat was a Shrek Loved that.
And Mario Party Mario Party wasalways a good one.
I didn't usually, I usuallyplayed by myself.
That sounds so sad, but I hadfun.
(20:46):
I had a lot of fun with it.
And now I would say, as far asvideo games, now I'm not playing
too too much, besides when Istream, because I'm usually
recording stuff or I'm takingnaps or doing something not the
most interesting in the world,or I'll be hanging outside with
my chickens and stuff.
So I would say repo isobviously a very big one.
(21:09):
We've been playing me and Meganand our friends have been
playing supermarket together andfast food simulator games where
you just get to work a jobwithout having to actually work
a job.
It's still just as intense,though.
I'll tell you what we'reyelling at each other.
It's like we got to pick who'sthe manager, because this is not
(21:29):
something's not working out,but that.
And I used to play a lot ofOverwatch and Overwatch 2.
Once I switched to Overwatch 2,I was kind of I was a little
rocky with that.
I wasn't really sure how I feltabout it.
I'm still kind of, eh, and alsoit consumed my life a lot.
So I'm like I think I need tostep away, just take some time,
because I'm spending too muchtime playing this game.
Um, so right now it's it'smostly just games that I can
(21:51):
play with my friends and havefun with.
I have people telling me toplay Baldur's Gate and actually
start it.
I customized a character and myhusband was the most
disappointed I think I've everseen in our relationship when he
was like what class is yourcharacter?
And I said you pick a class, like it was a fully customized
character, and he's like, yeah,are you like a I don't know
(22:12):
warlock?
I'm not.
I'm not big into this stuff andI'm like I don't know.
And so he looks, he's like youpicked a human and I'm like I
don't know, I don't know what'sgoing on.
So I'm gonna eventually likeredo that and actually make a
character that maybe makes sense.
But I know I'll get sucked intothat because I know the romance
options are going to be.
You know, I'm going to be allover that kind of stuff.
(22:33):
So we're bouncing all over theplace with games at the moment.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
No, it's so funny.
We always have guests on therelike I really love this Nintendo
system and we were like wedidn't have either one of those.
I had a.
Did you have a friend, eric, like me, that had the GameCube
and we just didn't go to hishouse?
Speaker 2 (22:51):
Honestly, I think.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
I had.
I think I had an N64 and aGameCube and a Game Boy,
obviously, but outside of those, like no, we just weren't
Nintendo guys and we stillreally aren't, we'll.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
We'll go to like a
place and if they have like
mario card, of course we'll jumpon it.
But, like we we had thisconversation recently with some
friends like with nintendoconsoles unless we're having
hosting people to play thosegames like we don't really play
them and that doesn't reallyhappen when we're hosting, we're
having a movie night or we'replaying a card game you know, or
something like that.
So, like the nintendo game isn'ton our docket but, eric, now
(23:26):
you can step aside, because simssimulation games are my thing I
love sim games I have like 80hours in tcg card shop simulator
.
I don't really play it as muchanymore, but when it came out
there was a pokemon mod so youcould open a pokemon shop and I
just played that all the time, totally, totally neglected my
regular job.
But my shop was great youreally clocked in.
(23:50):
I really, really did a great jobat the job.
I cared about that, didn't payme any money.
What else is on my library?
We have Ranch Simulator, whichis okay.
Yes, we played that one.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
It's goofy because
it's kind of not super perfected
.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
Schedule 1 is the big
one that's been out recently
but it's been a lot of fun.
But when I pull up my wish list, eric was over the other day
and saw my wish list and he waslike man, our wish lists are way
different.
So I have liquor storesimulator, pool cleaning
simulator, thief simulator, which I do have the first one,
that one's good Toy shopsimulator, crime scene cleaner.
(24:29):
I really want to get to thatone and I really want to play
fast food simulator with somefriends.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
They've just done
some updates on that one.
You should join us, we'll play.
We'll play some fast foodsimulator Now they have you like
filling up like the sodamachine yourself and all that,
and I'm like, okay, I'm sold.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
I'm about it.
Also, there's an escapesimulator which is just an
escape room, as opposed to justgoing to an escape room in
person.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
I think I've played
that one.
Maybe I'll play escapesimulator.
It was a good one.
If it's the same one I'mthinking of, yeah, I liked it.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
And then, like park
builders, so like Jurassic World
Evolution, I have a ton ofhours in.
I have two point museum in mywishlist like stuff that I want
to try out, so yeah, so, eric, there we go.
We both got our fill of thingsthat neither one of us are
interested in.
Crazy, yeah, no.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
You guys are going to
start playing podcast simulator
instead.
Oh my, God Hold on, I candevelop that.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
I should develop that
game.
Oh my god, stop.
Like a voice voiceoversimulator.
Yeah, I've been.
I've been interested insimulator games.
It's just like he does all ofthem.
He does all the simulationgames.
It's too many.
If he ever needs to like find avery specific niche job.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
He's gonna have it on
his resume.
He's gonna be like I did like ahundred hours in crime scene
investigator simulator.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Exactly, and they're
all different somehow.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
Exactly.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
Somehow, I guess so
but as far as yeah, as far as
like gaming and then cosplayingand voice acting, like you just
mentioned, you got to fit somenaps in there, like like it's
obviously a really hecticschedule.
What do you fit in Rue?
That's like your comfort place, like your comfort place to go.
(26:07):
When all of that is done, you're not doing the things that
you need to do, the things youwant to do.
You want to watch something, read something.
What have those things been foryou?
And that can be in general orjust like so far this year well,
naps are high on that list, butusually it's.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
I play these.
Really they're kind of dumbgames on my phone.
It's not anything cool likegotcha games or anything.
It's literally those games thatyou see in an ad for another
game.
I end up getting sucked intothose games.
There's one called Two Dotsthat I played years ago and I
redownloaded it again because itwas an ad on a different game
(26:47):
that was just filled with ads.
So I am like addicted toplaying those where it's like,
literally you take like one turnand then it's like, oh, here's
an ad, you take another turn, here's another ad.
And I never pay to get rid ofthe ads either.
So I usually lay in bed and thenI'll have one of my favorite
YouTube channels of all time isGood Mythical Morning, and I'll
just have Good Mythical Morningplaying while I'm doing that and
(27:08):
just like laying in bed.
Or also I like to sing too, solike it's something that I'm
working on, like trying to putout there more, but I love just
kind of like singing in my roomor I'll stand outside with the
chickens and I'll sing.
They don't like to listen, theythey're on the other side of
the yard, they don't care.
So they're.
(27:29):
You know, if I can impress them, that's a.
That's a big feat, butdefinitely just like I like to
to perform songs and stuff likeEpic.
The musical has been, has takenover my life.
Goodbye, phil, see you later,phil.
See you later, phil.
You know who got me into itMegan.
Megan got me into it.
She's like you need to listento this, and so I did, and then
(27:51):
I'm listening through and justbawling my eyes out.
It's like it's whatever.
So I just like sing that aroundmy house all the time.
What else do I Like?
That's it.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
This isn't too unlike
what we do, eric, minus
chickens and actually there's achicken that always shows up in
my backyard like a neighborhoodchicken.
And my dog always chases it off.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
It's a sign, though
it enhances the experience.
So much.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
That's crazy.
So, rue, we'll go off on thattangent really quick.
So Epic the Musical.
So, obviously, saga ended rightat the end of last year.
It's still probably going todestroy my Spotify wrapped
because it's all I listened tothis year.
So what is your favorite song?
(28:44):
And then what is your favoriteSaga?
Speaker 2 (28:47):
Okay, so I want to
save my favorite character too.
I like Polites.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
Yeah, there we go,
polites is my favorite character
.
That's unfortunate.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
Rest in peace.
I would have to say Poseidonhas some good songs, I'll tell
you that.
But for a weird like one that Ilike is Charybdis, which is
like in one, I think it's theRevenge Saga.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
The Revenge Saga.
Nobody talks about that one.
It's so good.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Charybdis is such a
good song.
I like that.
You know he's getting into thismode where he's fighting this
big whirlpool monster and thenhe's finally seeing you know his
home again and then you've gotPoseidon just being like well,
about to F you up real quick.
So it's like I, I love.
I would say like that saga isprobably my favorite.
(29:35):
Like I love 600 strike, I loveum get in the water.
Like I said, I love Poseidonstuff too.
So it's probably that saga, isthat?
No, that's not the same one.
I love them all.
I love them all.
I'm just like they're all great.
and then open arms is also oneof my favorite songs, Like Pull
a Tease is just ah, they casteverybody so well.
So I'm kind of all over theplace because it's hard to pick
(29:57):
like one that I really like ofeach thing.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
Yeah, I'm going
through a full listen through
again, because by the time thisepisode comes out, I will have
either already done it or willbe in the middle of doing an
epic stream.
Oh yeah, where I can.
Anybody that wants to join thathasn't seen it before?
Do the animatics.
Yes, with it, because there's alot of really creative people
who have put together animaticsfor it and I think it adds a
(30:22):
little bit of appeal.
If people don't want to justlisten to it, yeah, so giving
them that avenue and lookingthrough.
But my favorites, I've got tosay I think characters,
characters, is tough, because Ireally love all of them.
I mean, odie is the main guy, obviously.
Jorge, his voice, the way he'sapproached it creatively, it's
(30:45):
hard not to love him.
I do love Cersei though.
Yeah, definitely love her.
If I had to pick one thatwasn't odysseus, I will say it's
.
It's tough to pick favoritesong.
I think favorite saga is thethunder saga, oh that's also,
that's just because there's alot of my favorite like from
suffering to different beastsmutiny was a really good one too
(31:07):
.
Mutiny was good, nobody talksabout grew on me.
Nobody talks about Scylla, andScylla is like so close to being
number one.
And then of course, you gotThunderbringer.
But if I had to pick a favoritesong, it's like really close.
I really love Legendary, like Ilove Legendary so so much.
But I also I've been listeningto the Ithaca Saga so much this
(31:31):
year.
I've been listening to theIthaca saga so much this year
and between the challenge andHold them Down, they're both so
different and so crazy good theyare, despite how dark it gets
in that last saga I know, I know, but I would say right now if I
had to pick one Scylla's upthere, legendary, and then it's
probably a 1A, 1B with thechallenge and hold them down
(31:53):
Like I love those songs a lot.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
I will say, like Just
a man too.
That one was the.
I think that was the first songthat I had ever heard anything
from and it was on throughTikTok and that one like I just
really love, like how it kind ofescalates and stuff.
And then what really got meinterested, interested was, um,
oh gosh, why can I not think ofthe name Eclipso song?
(32:18):
Love in paradise, Is that whatit's called?
Speaker 1 (32:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
That was like all
over Tik TOK and I was like this
is really catchy.
Maybe I will actually listen toit.
And it's been same thing.
My Spotify rap is going to bejust that, and then probably the
One Piece live actionsoundtrack.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
Yeah, that's pretty
much it and the edits go crazy
with Epic.
But yeah, phil, you can comeback in.
I guess Really what are you?
Here for.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
I was trying to boot
up Pokemon Ruby Red, but my DS
is dead because I haven't turnedit on.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
You should have come
better prepared.
I knew we were going to go on aone-piece.
I mean, I have Clare Obscure onthe other screen right now.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
That's not true.
No, you just hear the speakingof music you just hear, then you
would definitely hear me getdistracted.
Yeah, I definitely would.
But, rue, I want to ask becauseyou also do a lot of work with
closing credits, you do some ofthe workouts and you're also
about to host a boot camp.
So I want to talk about, likeyou know, like you said just a
(33:18):
few years ago you didn't knowthat like this could be a career
you could even pursue, and nowyou've been, you're gracious
enough to like share what you'velearned so far with a lot of
people like myself who are justnow entering their voiceover
journey.
So here is the obligatory lot ofpeople like myself who are just
now entering their voiceoverjourney.
So here is the obligatory whatkind of advice do you have to
(33:39):
someone who is looking to getinto voiceover, voice acting?
You know what you know becauseeverybody's journey is different
, just like you've alreadytalked about so far.
Yours has been so differentfrom you know, even Josh's.
So what is that?
You know that starting adviceyou have for somebody looking to
get into this line of work youknow that starting advice you
have for somebody looking to getinto this line of work.
Speaker 2 (33:58):
It's always like
making sure you have a passion
for it.
First of all, because you'regoing to go through so many you
know acceptances, rejections.
I say that in quotes becauseyou know you're not really
rejected.
You just weren't picked for acertain role.
They can only pick one personmost of the time, so it's not
that they didn't like you, butit's just somebody else filled
their expectations better thanwhat your performance did.
So it's having the passion forit and absolutely making sure
(34:21):
that you have friends that areoutside of voice acting that has
helped me so much, because it'sso great to have other voice
acting friends.
But you need to be able toseparate yourself from it at
times too, you know where.
That's not what you're justtalking about, because since
we're, you know, most of us areremote, working from home, it
really consumes us.
You know we're like oh, I gotto check my email, I got to
(34:42):
check this notification, I gotto go on Discord, I got to do
this audition, I got to do thisand this, so to kind of be able
to step away from thatcompletely, you know, even if
it's just for an hour to hangand play simulator games or
something you know it's justrefreshing and it keeps that
passion going because you're notjust overwhelming yourself with
the negative thoughts about itand also surround yourself with
other people who are just lovingyou know, who care, who
(35:05):
genuinely care for you andeverything and being genuine
yourself as well, because thereare people that you know are
maybe not the greatest that willuse people as like stepping
stones and stuff and it justdoesn't feel good when you're on
you know the other end of itand you're you know, you're like
, oh, I thought we were friendsand then they're gone or
something.
So just being a genuine friendto those that you have, either
(35:26):
in voice acting or outside, will, just, you know, help you
emotionally, help other peopleor outside will, just, you know,
help you emotionally, helpother people.
So I know that's not like themost voice acting, like centric
kind of advice, but if I were togive like a voice acting,
advice is start off with, startsmall, you know, start within
your budget for everything.
Because I've seen people saythings before like, oh, you need
(35:49):
this, this and this to start upand it's like thousands of
dollars and this and that this, what I have here, has taken me
almost three years to get towhere I'm at and it's just from,
you know, accumulating fundsfrom doing voice acting and
everything.
I started off with a uh, theRode PodMic.
That was like the first micthat I had, so it's just a like
(36:09):
$100 XLR mic and I was at mydesk, my computer desk, and I
had a big blanket over my headand that's all I had.
I didn't have a booth, I didn'thave anything like that, and I
was able to get jobs from it.
So it's a matter of workingyour way up and not setting the
expectation of I have to be hereat this point, because even
something for me like gettinginto my dear friend Nocaton was
(36:34):
like honestly the biggest dream, like that was such a cool
experience to have.
But I didn't really set a goalof like, oh, be in anime by this
year or something.
I was just like I think that'dbe a cool thing to do someday.
So that way it wasn't like a ifI don't get it in a year, then
I'm a failure, or if I don't dothis in a year, I'm a failure.
So it's know goals but notreally having a deadline.
(36:56):
Considering.
This is mostly a career.
You know you're going to be init for the long term, so you
don't know what's going tohappen throughout.
You know the years and yearsand years of you practicing,
auditioning and getting roles.
Yeah, I think.
(37:24):
In total I've submitted, likeyou know, eight auditions and
all of them, you know, like Ididn't get picked.
I ever came out either.
So that's also like anotherthing.
So it took 60 there.
Last year I did 700 auditionsand I got about 60 roles, which
not all of them were fromauditions either.
Some were from, you know, people like friends and stuff,
that were like hey, this personneeds a voice for something, can
(37:45):
you do it?
But I mean, 60 out of 700auditions is a great number.
Like I'm very proud of thatnumber.
But even if it were only like20 or something, you know, it's
like just getting a role out of700.
It's like you just got to keepputting yourself out there and
hoping that.
You know you're what somebodywants and sometimes, you know
(38:06):
you do get down on yourself too.
You're like man, I didn't getthat.
And then you see, like, like thesame I thought I did really
good on that, like I would havebeen perfect for that, yeah
exactly, and a lot of the times, like you do kind of get put
into, um, a little box of likeyou mostly do this kind of
character and it's not reallyintentional.
But I've I've ended up with alot of characters that are my
(38:28):
personality, which I hope thatdoesn't mean I can't act, you
know like, oh, you can't act asanything else, you can only play
yourself.
No, but I'm usually playingcharacters that are like
teenagers and they're kind ofangsty, but they also have like
kind of a sweet side and stuff, and that's really like where
most of my stuff is.
I don't really branch out toomuch into like super mature
(38:50):
characters and stuff, becausethere are other people who have
voice prints that are moresuited for that kind of stuff.
I kind of have the more likeyouthful side of it, but I'm
like, why am I not getting theseroles?
And it's just, you also listento the person that did get it
and you're like, ah, okay, I see, I see why they got it.
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
And like Eric, for
example, I didn't tell you this,
but one of the things I put infor was like a true horror
YouTube channel, which is likeone of the podcasts I listen to
the most.
I was like I know exactly whatthey're looking for.
I'm definitely going to hearback from them Nothing.
So it's like I think people arereally surprised and that's one
thing that I really learned.
Going through the closingcredits class is like it's not,
(39:28):
you know.
So many people I think willassume, oh, it's like anime or
bus, but there's so many thingslike people in my class have
been cast in someone's YouTubeproject, you know, or something
along those lines.
I'm like man, I didn't eventhink.
Of course, those people thatare the content creators will
also need somebody to dovoiceover for them.
Like you don't even reallythink about it.
So I really really love thatanswer and, to speak on just
(39:50):
kind of as far as just where tostart, that answer is very
similar to podcasting.
We get a lot of questions wherepeople are like, well, how do I
start?
And I think people are kind ofblown away by how relatively
simple it is to just get up andgoing, especially when you're
early on, and just startsomewhere, which I think is
always a major key, and thenalso to speak on having those
(40:12):
friends and having thatcommunity outside of voice
acting.
That's why I think all three ofus can agree like having that
convention community is huge.
We have artist friends, we havevoiceover friends, we have
podcast friends, we havephotographer friends and it's
like this whole blend of peoplethat are supporting you and it's
very, very important.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
So you know, go to
more conventions.
Speaker 3 (40:34):
That's what I'd say.
Speaker 2 (40:35):
I mean one of my best
friends right now.
We met because she was makingart of Sanji or no, she's making
art of other One Piececharacters on TikTok.
And I said, are you planning ondoing Sanji?
And then she was like, oh, whatoutfit would you want to see
him in?
And then she was like, oh, whatoutfit would you want to see
him in?
And then we ended up in eachother's DMs and we've been
friends for like two years nowand you know it's been great.
(40:57):
But again, she does a lot oflike vending.
She's in Texas so she does a lotof like vendor stuff there.
So I'm like getting to knowother artists and stuff that are
over there and I'll be in Texasin July, so it's like I might
get to meet some of them andit's like it's really cool to
have that the con experience, just because you get people who
are, who come from all differentbackgrounds of like, whether
(41:18):
they're just fans of stuff orthey're artists.
You know they love to do thefan art, they aspire to be voice
actors as well and they're justsuper interested.
When they come up to youthey're like, how do I get
started in this?
And I'm like, well, get a penand paper out, because I'm about
to start telling you where wecan start with this.
(41:39):
So it's always wonderful to beable to guest at a con.
Even if you're just attending acon as a cosplayer or just an
attendee, just make sure thatyou've got money in your wallet
because you're going to spendmoney.
You're going to spend a lot ofmoney in the artist alley, or at
least I do every time.
Speaker 3 (41:50):
Sounds like that's
her, Ivan Eric yeah.
Speaker 1 (41:54):
Hi Ivan.
Speaker 3 (41:54):
We all got to get it.
We got to listen to this inJuly, because you're behind.
Speaker 1 (42:00):
He's already talked
to us at Bold and everything.
Yeah, no, I definitely thinkbeing a part of the community in
those convention experiences isimportant you mentioned, like
the networking.
I do want to take a step backinto the roles that you've kind
of had or either auditioned for,and I do want to ask something
that you kind of mentioned.
(42:20):
We like to bring up a lot oftime with people in voice acting
because we always hear thiskind of like typecasting
situation that can happen, whichcan be both a good thing and a
bad thing, depending on the time, the situation and the role.
I'm very curious if you arefeeling like maybe there's a
role you haven't gotten yetbecause of that, what would that
(42:43):
role be like?
You know you mentioned thereare some more mature roles or
like a mature needing voice, andyou understood why they got
that.
But is there something withinyour skill set, within your
interests, that you just haven'tquite landed, that you would
like to?
And if there is one, what is it?
Speaker 2 (43:00):
I would have to say
like little, like little boy
voices and stuff, because I, Imean, I don't really see too too
many auditions for them toooften, but usually just
something that's like in thelittle boy like area or on the
exact opposite side is likeseductress.
I love like those kinds ofcharacters, you know, that are
(43:22):
just trying to seduce them, usually like villains and stuff.
I love those kinds ofcharacters too.
So I feel like both of those, cause it's like you've got
teenage girl, which is where I'musually at, and then you've got
like the mature seductress andthen you've got an
eight-year-old boy.
It's like the two other sidesof the spectrum.
Speaker 1 (43:40):
Complete opposite
sides of the spectrum.
You know what.
You answered that beautifully,Phil.
What is your dream role?
Have you thought about that yet?
Would you like to be aneight-year-old little boy?
Speaker 2 (43:51):
I'm not going to
answer that question.
He was one at some point.
Speaker 3 (43:55):
From experience.
Who's going to land it first isthe question.
Speaker 1 (44:01):
Who's going to be you
?
Speaker 3 (44:03):
I'd be like Rue.
I'm so sorry I landed the roleof this child, eight-year-old.
Speaker 1 (44:09):
It's going to be
eight-year-old specifically.
Speaker 3 (44:18):
I'll only go out for
eight-year-old roles.
Uh, you know, for me, you knowit's always it's it's definitely
going to be somethingvillainous, because you know,
you know you and I are huge fansof of those characters that can
be a little bit more on the themorally gray side.
Speaker 2 (44:26):
So that would be it
for for sure for me yeah, yeah,
love that yeah, I guess, forlike a type of character too,
not necessarily like the voiceis just a character that you
hate.
That is such a good villainthat you hate the character, but
you have to love them too.
(44:46):
And an example sorry, phil isdoflamingo from one piece.
Such a good villain, but Icannot stand him, but that's why
I yeah yeah yeah, there's thebird thing again
but it's like a character likethat, where it's just they do
(45:07):
such like heinous things andthey make such a good villain
that you're just like, Ooh, Ican't stand them.
But God, they do villain stuffso good.
Speaker 3 (45:17):
I know this guy.
This is pink, muscular Eric.
Stop what it's like it's fairlyaccurate.
Speaker 1 (45:27):
I'm a little annoyed,
yes, kind of kind of, but not
really.
But, phil, I know we have acouple of fun things planned
here towards the end.
Did you have any any finalquestions you wanted to ask Rue
before we get to some of the funstuff we have planned?
Speaker 3 (45:44):
Yeah, I guess I do
also have a fun question,
because we were talking aboutyou were discussing Disney
earlier.
We were discussing Disneyearlier and I don't know if
you've heard, but after the kindof like flop of Snow White,
they've kind of like put a pauseon all of these live action
films.
And the next one, I think thatwas on the docket Well, of
course, lilo and Stitch is aboutto come out, but one of the
ones that was on the docket thatkind of got shelved is Tangled,
(46:06):
and I think that's kind of abummer because I think Tangled
live action could work with theright casting.
So how do you feel about that?
Also, do you care for any ofthe Disney?
Speaker 2 (46:18):
live actions.
I always think that's just afun conversation.
I see I haven't seen too toomany of them.
I know I've seen Beauty and theBeast.
There's got to be somethingelse that I've seen that was
live action.
No, I actually never saw theLion King ones.
I cause there's also like Iknow it's not Disney, but like
how to train your dragons comingout For me I've been kind of
(46:44):
like on the inside becauseanimation is such an art in
itself and it just kind of feelslike we're going backwards and
like trying to replicatesomething that was already like
a really cool thing in the firstplace, when we can have like
new stories and like new, because it's hard to replicate a
one-to-one of, like you know, fantasy stuff and all that you
can get close.
But it's not always going to beexactly perfect because, like
(47:07):
you said, it depends on thecasting and everything.
So as long as the cast, youknow, can represent the
characters, like that's cool andall.
But I would prefer originalstories, you know, if that makes
sense, because, like I don'tknow, a lot of them do just seem
kind of almost one-to-one oflike the storyline and stuff and
it's like just watch theanimation at that point, you
(47:28):
know, just watch the original.
So I don't know they.
I didn't see Snow White either.
I've seen a lot, a lot of thediscourse on it and everything.
I think Tangled, tangled wouldhave been a cool one to do too.
I think it would have beeninteresting to see how they did
like the I'm trying to think ofthe word for the like the big,
like barbarians and stuff youknow that are in there.
(47:50):
I'm sure they could have likecasted, that really cool like
done maybe some cool um makeupand like prosthetics and stuff.
Um, it would have been veryinteresting to see if they would
have done a similar thing withrapunzel's hair as they do like
in the animation you know, likemostly like cgi, it and stuff,
because I mean that that's a lotof hair to to just have on a
wig.
Her neck would literally likebe like this the whole time.
(48:11):
So I think it would have beencool.
But hopefully, if they do comeup with it, hopefully they do it
to the best of their abilitywith the best cast and
everything.
Speaker 3 (48:20):
All right.
Well, obviously, eric, I pulledup some fan casts.
Do we want to hear?
Who do we think as Rapunzel?
What do we think?
Sabrina Carpenter I don't knowabout that one, not sure.
Okay, flynn Rider.
Fabian Frankel I don't know whothat is.
Anybody know who?
That is no clue.
Fabian Frankel Tangled oh, he'sHouse of the Dragon.
(48:44):
So Game of Thrones stuff, Idon't know.
All I know is they have-.
Speaker 2 (48:48):
Sabrinaenter might be
too short, Honestly she's very
compact Like yeah.
I don't know.
Rapunzel reads like I thinkshe's like five foot seven or
something.
I feel like the hair would justovertake Sabrina very
aggressively.
Speaker 3 (49:02):
Catriona Balfe as
Mother Gothel Again a name I
don't.
I'm not familiar with.
Dave Bautista as Hookhand OK itseems unnecessary unnecessary
if you ask me.
Speaker 2 (49:14):
Okay, okay, okay, I
mean, I can see it.
Speaker 3 (49:17):
This one has Florence
Pugh as Rapunzel.
Speaker 2 (49:21):
I can see that.
I can see that.
Speaker 3 (49:23):
Again, fabian Frankel
also appears on this list.
I don't know who that is.
And then obviously, catherineHahn as Mother Gothel right,
that would probably be the theeasiest win.
Uh there, but yeah.
But again, I just thought thatcould have been one of the ones
that did work, as opposed tosome of the other ones.
Um, not only just because ofthe story, but also, like, I
(49:44):
think, humor wise, they likemaybe they could have done
pretty well with it.
But yeah, I don't know.
I mean, the more and more I seethe live action how to train
Dragon, the more lifeless itlooks every trailer and I'm like
what are we doing here, man?
Speaker 2 (49:56):
It just looks like
they're just trying to do
exactly what they did in theanimation and I'm like I don't
really need it and the animationis already perfect.
Speaker 3 (50:02):
I think the first,
how to Train your Dragon, is
perfect.
Speaker 2 (50:06):
Yeah, I need to
rewatch it.
It's funny because the liveaction coming out is making me
want to re-watch the originalanimation.
I'm like let me see that againor go to epic universe.
Speaker 3 (50:16):
Definitely be
watching that, yeah yes, I would
love to go there but yeah, eric, you know, the live action
disney thing is always uhinteresting conversation but
there's so much money in it.
They're not going well.
Maybe they're on pause forright now, but but I think
they'll revisit it.
Speaker 2 (50:34):
Let's rethink some
things and we'll see where we go
from here.
Speaker 1 (50:37):
They'll be back.
They'll be back.
But yeah, we do have some fungames planned.
A really fun game that we'veonly played like once, I think,
on the show.
I've also modified it a littlebit.
It's going to be anime centricand then we have a pop culture
character draft.
Both of these with the help ofchat GPT today.
Speaker 3 (50:58):
Will you?
Speaker 1 (50:59):
also have this.
No, no, I will be hostingbecause there's going to be a
lot of like manual stuff.
I will share my screen and seehow this goes.
Speaker 3 (51:07):
Oh, ok, I had it
pulled up, but it's OK.
Speaker 1 (51:09):
Yeah, Well, when we
do the character draft, I'm
going to have to do so many liveedits anyway so I'm going to
have to figure this out.
But, yeah, I'm going to goahead and share my entire screen
and you guys should see anemoji, an emoji, an emoji, yes.
So this is where we're going togo ahead and dive into our game
(51:33):
.
Now for this here, let me goahead.
Speaker 3 (51:36):
Can you hit?
Stop sharing at the bottom.
Speaker 2 (51:39):
I mean not stop
sharing.
Speaker 3 (51:42):
Not stop sharing,
hide, let me stop, all right.
Speaker 1 (51:45):
So there will be a
series of emojis that will
appear on the screen.
Speaker 3 (51:51):
I understand this one
now.
Speaker 1 (51:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (51:54):
All you have to do
here.
We've seen like most of Naruto,so there's like no reason to
watch it now.
Speaker 1 (51:58):
Well.
So I did change it a little bitfrom the actual um.
I did change it from the way weplay Cinemoji because it's so
difficult to just figure outlike emojis for the titles.
So the way this is going towork is the emojis that are on
the screen is going to describethe show.
And I asked ChatGPT what arethe easiest animes to determine
(52:24):
just off of emojis.
So I went off.
Speaker 3 (52:26):
Those answers
Couldn't you figure that out?
Speaker 1 (52:28):
yourself.
I could have, but I didn't wantto.
You wasted like nine bottles ofwater.
You know what?
I'm not going to be criticized, but what I will tell you is
that I did try to pick the onesthat are most known from this
list.
So they're fairly popular animeand, phil, you have seen a
majority of these.
Or you know them, okay, theseare in your realm of these, or
(52:55):
you know them, okay, these arethese, these are in your realm,
rue.
Uh, as far as anime goes, howconfident do you feel you might
know some very frequently knownanime in you know?
Speaker 2 (53:02):
those circles.
Speaker 1 (53:02):
Pretty good okay, I
feel pretty good, awesome okay
well then, we're gonna start offwith our first one, and the way
this is gonna work is justchime in with a guest, so you
don't have to wait, you canshout out an answer.
In fact, you want to shout itout before the other person.
Speaker 2 (53:20):
So let's go to our
first one Ratatouille.
Speaker 1 (53:23):
Demon Slayer.
Demon Slayer.
All right, very good.
Speaker 3 (53:28):
It is Demon.
Speaker 1 (53:28):
Slayer, all right.
Speaker 3 (53:29):
I saw the train.
Speaker 2 (53:30):
That's what gave it
away for some reason, not the
demon, the train.
Speaker 1 (53:35):
I wouldn't have put a
train in there, so ChappyGBT
knows what it's doing.
Alright, here's going to be oursecond one, one piece.
Speaker 2 (53:47):
Of all of them.
I can't let you have that one.
Speaker 1 (53:51):
I was like, please.
I was like he can get this one.
Speaker 3 (53:53):
Let's get the one
piece, one out of the way you
can get the other ones, it'sfine.
But that one's not acceptable, all right.
Not to call out one of ourprevious guests, who is Jessica
Kavanaugh, who was incredible.
She plays Deku's mom in my HeroAcademia.
Speaker 1 (54:07):
And missed, missed
the my Hero, and she could fail
Almost.
Almost Phil had to give it toher to be fair.
Speaker 3 (54:13):
Oh, no, I was like
Jessica, I'm going to give you a
second and I was like this onewas made for you.
She still won, so it didn'tmatter.
Speaker 1 (54:21):
Yeah, all right.
Speaker 2 (54:28):
Our next one.
Speaker 3 (54:33):
Oh, hold on, it's not
Sword.
Art Online no, I was going tosay, oh, hold on, it's not sword
art online.
No, I was no.
No, it is not solo leveling.
Speaker 1 (54:41):
Damn, oh, okay, oh,
okay, okay, oh gosh I will tell
you what is the first and thethird emoji to me make the most
sense the first and the thirdmake the most sense.
Speaker 3 (54:52):
The first and the
third Make the most sense.
Speaker 1 (54:54):
Full Metal Alchemist
no.
Speaker 2 (54:55):
Reincarnated is
something it has a slime.
Speaker 3 (54:58):
No, it's usually a.
Speaker 1 (55:01):
No, I will tell you
this isa huge anime Crap.
It is not currently running, but it also Attack on Titan.
It is Attack on Titan.
Speaker 2 (55:11):
Oh, okay, okay, I
guess, just because it's sad.
Speaker 1 (55:14):
I don't know.
Alright, I think that's what isthat.
Speaker 3 (55:19):
Rue 2?
Speaker 1 (55:20):
2-1.
Alright, let's go to our nextone.
Speaker 3 (55:25):
One Punch man.
Speaker 1 (55:28):
No, not a bad guess.
Speaker 3 (55:30):
Is that the stars,
the planets, space Dandy.
Speaker 2 (55:33):
Not Space Dandy.
That would have been a badguess.
Is that the stars, the planets, space dandy.
Speaker 1 (55:35):
Not space, dandy.
That would have been a crazypoll.
Speaker 2 (55:39):
Oh gosh, Interstellar
Jujutsu.
Speaker 1 (55:41):
Kaisen.
It's not interstellar.
No, not Jujutsu Kaisen.
Speaker 2 (55:47):
What is this?
Speaker 1 (55:49):
You're on the right
path with fighting, but there's
a lot more hints that are goingto be way more out there than
Jujutsu.
Speaker 3 (55:57):
Fighting, saying
words Explosion.
Speaker 1 (56:00):
It's a huge shonen
anime.
It is a huge shonen anime.
Speaker 2 (56:05):
It's not Bleach right
.
Speaker 1 (56:07):
It is not Bleach.
Dragon Ball it is yes, dragonBall Very good?
Is yes, dragon Ball Very good, okay.
Speaker 2 (56:14):
Okay, okay, okay.
Speaker 3 (56:16):
Where's the dragon
emoji.
Speaker 1 (56:19):
Again, I didn't want
to be blamed.
All right, let's see howquickly our next one goes.
Speaker 3 (56:29):
One Punch man no.
Speaker 2 (56:31):
What Fire Force?
Speaker 1 (56:32):
Oh, okay, this is
taking so much longer?
What?
Speaker 2 (56:43):
Assassination
Classroom no.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure no my.
Speaker 3 (56:49):
Hero Academia.
Speaker 1 (56:50):
My Hero Academia.
We're just talking about it.
Speaker 3 (56:54):
I was like look at
the hero at the end.
Speaker 1 (56:56):
Yeah, that's why I
was like the hero.
The hero.
That's okay.
That's okay, we're at 3-2.
We still have quite a bit to go, so let's jump into our next
one.
Speaker 3 (57:08):
Sailor.
Speaker 1 (57:08):
Moon.
Speaker 3 (57:09):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (57:10):
That was a good one.
Did not see that coming.
Sailor Moon, wow that was agood one.
Speaker 3 (57:12):
Did not see that
coming.
Speaker 1 (57:12):
Sailor.
Speaker 2 (57:13):
Moon, that was a good
one.
Speaker 1 (57:16):
All right, are we
tied?
We're tied 3-3, and we?
Speaker 2 (57:19):
do have.
I was taking it easy on him too.
He's catching up.
Speaker 3 (57:21):
We do have four more.
Speaker 1 (57:23):
That's a good call
actually we have four more All
right ready, here we go.
Speaker 2 (57:27):
Death Note here we go
Death Note.
Speaker 1 (57:30):
It is yes, death Note
.
Speaker 3 (57:32):
Very good, awesome
All right, it was the apple.
It was the apple.
Speaker 1 (57:37):
Rue up by one Next
one.
Speaker 2 (57:42):
Assassination
Classroom Fuck yes.
Speaker 1 (57:43):
Yeah, it was
Assassination, classroom All
right, just barely, barely.
Barely so, rue, you're up two.
Phil can't tie it, but he'llhave to get the next two.
So the next one you get, you dowin.
And I didn't tell you the prize, because there is not one, but
it is Dragon Race.
Here we go for the next one.
This one may be the hardest andit's the least known of every
(58:05):
one of them.
Speaker 2 (58:08):
But I did have to put
it on here.
Speaker 1 (58:10):
You're a Lion April.
Okay, very good, you're a lionApril.
Okay very good, yes, very good, awesome, alright.
Well then, this one's just forshits and giggles.
Speaker 2 (58:20):
Kung Fu Panda.
Speaker 3 (58:21):
Jujutsu Kaisen Stupid
fucking bear hey leave Panda
alone.
Speaker 2 (58:28):
No.
Speaker 1 (58:29):
Phil's not a huge fan
of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Speaker 3 (58:32):
Alright, let's go
ahead here.
Speaker 1 (58:33):
Thanks for playing
and we'll jump into our next one
.
That went way better than Ithought it would, alright.
So for our next one, guys and Ishould have mentioned at the
last one, if you're on our audioside, only visuals are going to
help for the video side.
Speaker 3 (58:51):
We tell them that,
but no one's watching on YouTube
, so it's okay, no, it's okay.
Speaker 1 (58:55):
They like the audio.
Speaker 3 (58:56):
We know what the
download numbers are.
It's fine, they like listening.
Speaker 1 (59:00):
Alright, so let me go
ahead and make sure I've got
this in the right view.
Uh, phil, I do have a wheel.
Yeah, but I'm using that SorryAct, right?
Speaker 3 (59:15):
Well, we couldn't buy
the Plinko board at Costco this
weekend, so I guess we'resticking with the wheel.
I guess we are, yeah.
Speaker 1 (59:21):
I also used a
different wheel, because the
wheel of names would not stopgiving me ads.
Speaker 3 (59:28):
Oh yeah, it's pretty
bad.
Speaker 1 (59:29):
It's like really bad.
So we're gonna see how this newwheel goes um, so I'm gonna
share that first no, actuallylike I oh no, it's, it's just.
It's just a normal, a normalone.
Speaker 3 (59:40):
All right, here we go
, like earth tones like the
green one?
I don't think.
So what, we'll see.
I know my wheels.
Speaker 2 (59:46):
I can google a lot of
wheels it's like how many
wheels have you seen?
Speaker 1 (59:51):
so.
So I'm doing some finaglinghere to make this work.
So as far as this yep, let's gohide.
All right, so we've got ourslots for the draft.
So the way this is going towork is I am going to have a
pool of characters I think it's80 characters total across anime
, TV movies and video games.
Total across anime, TV moviesand video games.
(01:00:13):
I asked ChatGPT what in thosefour categories, what were the
20 characters that people wouldmost likely cosplay as?
Okay, and that is how I came upwith the characters.
So you may know some, you maynot, but I mean you should know
a lot of them.
We're going to draft for eachrole.
So, Rue, the way this is goingto work is we're going to spin
(01:00:33):
the wheel.
You'll see all the characters.
You'll be assigned a characterat random as you spin Each turn,
you're going to have to assignthem blindly to a role.
So, as it goes on, it's goingto get a little bit harder, but
you have a captain, vice captainof your team, your tank, your
(01:00:54):
healer, and then three supportcharacters we're fighting both
of you guys each other.
Speaker 3 (01:00:58):
Our teams are
fighting each other.
Yeah, and then we're gonnadecide who would win who would
win?
Speaker 1 (01:01:02):
all right, so who has
the better team?
Speaker 3 (01:01:05):
so we have a wheel.
I don't recognize this wheel.
Yeah, no, not my wheel, notyour wheel.
I tried to let you know.
I don't even know what thesound is.
Speaker 1 (01:01:15):
I don't even think I
shared a sound.
Yeah, we're just going to say, spin that wheel.
Speaker 3 (01:01:22):
We're not going to do
that every time though.
Right, Phil.
No, we don't have to do that,we have to do it at least three,
two, one.
Speaker 1 (01:01:29):
And for this first
one we're going to say spin that
wheel.
So we're going to say I'm goingto count down three, two, one
and then, in that cadence, spinthat wheel.
Speaker 3 (01:01:40):
You think that we
want to be so specific about
these instructions.
Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
But we do All right
Three, two, one Spin that wheel
All right, let's see what we get.
Who's going first?
Phil's going to go first, okay.
Speaker 3 (01:02:03):
I don't know what
that is.
Speaker 1 (01:02:05):
You've got a.
Do we get a skip?
Speaker 3 (01:02:07):
I'm not going to use
a skip, but do we get one skip
or no?
You can get one skip, yeah, whois this?
Oh Genshin.
Speaker 1 (01:02:13):
Yeah, going to use a
skip, but do we get one skip?
Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
or no, you can get
one skip.
Speaker 2 (01:02:14):
Yeah, who is this?
Oh, genshin Yep, genshin Impact, I know that character.
Speaker 1 (01:02:16):
So Hu Tao is a
playable character.
That's not helpful.
Great question, rue.
How would you describe Hu Tao?
Speaker 2 (01:02:29):
She's like a ghost
character.
She's a girl, but she's like aghost, like a traditional
folklore type of ghost.
Speaker 3 (01:02:37):
Oh, okay, all right.
Well, we'll just slot in asupport character here.
Speaker 1 (01:02:42):
All right, so we're
going support for you, yep.
All right, so we're goingsupport and let's go ahead and
update.
This is where it's going to getreally tricky.
Speaker 3 (01:02:55):
That's why you got
the two screens.
You got this.
Speaker 1 (01:02:57):
You know what?
Yeah, no, I hear that.
And here we are, you're doingsupport.
Speaker 3 (01:03:02):
Yeah, we'll do
support.
Speaker 1 (01:03:04):
All right.
So we've got that removed andwe've got our wheel.
So for our next spin again,we're not doing spin that wheel
every single time.
Speaker 3 (01:03:17):
Just make it short,
right?
Yes, yes, just spin them.
You can just spin it now.
Speaker 1 (01:03:21):
Cool, cool, all right
.
So let's go ahead and do a spinand let's see what we land on.
Speaker 3 (01:03:30):
Oh, interesting.
Speaker 1 (01:03:36):
Edward Scissorhands.
All right, so let me go aheadhere and let me, let me show you
the uh, the actual look here, and where would you want to put
edward scissorhands?
Speaker 2 (01:03:45):
well, I wouldn't want
him as a healer.
I feel like that'd be a littlecounterproductive hold, still
hold, still probably I feel likehe'd be a support
counterproductive.
Hold still, hold still.
Probably, I feel like he'd be asupport He'd have to be a
support yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
It's totally fair.
We're going to oh oh.
Oh Live edits, live edits.
There we go.
All right, we've got him.
That's the only picture I canfind.
That can't be true.
All.
Speaker 3 (01:04:16):
Are we doing snake,
or is this my turn?
It's your turn, okay?
Yeah, we'll go back Geralt's.
Okay.
I feel pretty good, I'm goingto make Geralt my captain.
I'm okay with this.
Speaker 2 (01:04:29):
Yeah, I mean that's
what I probably would have said
too.
Speaker 3 (01:04:31):
Yep, yep, yep.
Speaker 1 (01:04:33):
I mean, it's not a
bad choice at all, not a bad
choice.
So let's go to Phil's here, let's lock them in and lock them
in.
Okay, so we've got.
We'll do the Henry Cavillversion as well, just to make
you that works, make you happy.
Alright, let's go Captain inplace and we'll go to the wheel.
Speaker 3 (01:04:53):
I was hoping to be,
the tub picture.
But that's fine, that's okay.
Speaker 2 (01:04:56):
Tub picture.
Speaker 1 (01:04:57):
He's in the tub.
Alright, let's jump back intoit, okay, oh my God, spider-man.
Speaker 2 (01:05:06):
Come on, oh,
spider-man, okay.
Speaker 1 (01:05:10):
It didn't clarify, so
you can have your pick of
Spider-Man.
Speaker 3 (01:05:13):
From the Spider-Man
series.
Spider-man from the Spider-Manseries.
Speaker 2 (01:05:18):
in case the listening
audience wants to know yeah,
I'm going to say it's fromSpider-Man 2.
Speaker 1 (01:05:23):
Oh yeah, Okay yeah,
Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man.
Speaker 2 (01:05:26):
Yeah, yeah, yeah,
mostly because I think Doc Ock
is fine in that movie.
Speaker 1 (01:05:32):
You know what?
I'm not going to argue with youon that one.
No, let's see.
Speaker 2 (01:05:38):
For mine he's got to
be.
I'm going to put I'm going tohave to do vice captain for that
one.
Speaker 3 (01:05:46):
That's what I was
thinking as well.
Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
You're waiting for
Luffy, I know it.
Speaker 2 (01:05:49):
Well, he listened.
I wouldn't be wrong.
You're right, you're 100% right.
Speaker 3 (01:05:55):
I hope I get him and
I can skip him.
So he's removed from the wheel.
No, no.
Speaker 1 (01:06:00):
Crazy You're him so
he's removed from the wheel.
No, you're horrible you'rehorrible.
Speaker 3 (01:06:05):
You're horrible.
Push the boost the last witch.
Take a shot a shot all right.
Speaker 1 (01:06:10):
Next spin let's see
what Phil gets almost.
Speaker 2 (01:06:15):
Zorro, that would.
Speaker 1 (01:06:17):
That would have been
tragic for me yeah, you're
getting all the characters thatyou I know for sure you don't
know.
Speaker 3 (01:06:22):
I mean, I know Nier.
Is this the main character inNier Automata?
Okay, yeah.
Yeah, this is a good supportcharacter.
We'll go support.
Speaker 1 (01:06:31):
You go with support
there, okay.
So we're going support andwe're going man.
What picture am I going to pickhere?
What?
Speaker 3 (01:06:41):
type of game is Nier
Automata.
Is that like a?
I know it's very combat heavy, but like what kind?
Speaker 2 (01:06:49):
I just see a lot of
cosplays of her, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:06:52):
It always looks
really cool, I mean whenever I
see gameplay.
But I'm like, that looks hard.
Speaker 1 (01:06:58):
I mean you're playing
Clare Obscure now.
So like I don't know, that'strue.
Speaker 3 (01:07:01):
Maybe it's similar,
that is true.
Speaker 1 (01:07:03):
Gotta re-fix that.
All right, cool, that is themost appropriate picture I could
find.
Good call, good call.
Speaker 2 (01:07:11):
Not surprised Not
surprised All right here we go.
Speaker 1 (01:07:14):
We're back to Rue To
be.
Speaker 3 (01:07:16):
Okay, oh my.
Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
God, okay, okay, okay
, oh, my God, okay Okay.
I don't know too much aboutthis.
I know the character.
I don't know too much about it,so now will I pick a correct
spot for her is the question.
Speaker 1 (01:07:30):
So let's take a look.
So you've got a pretty goodspot here.
Now I mean I would say, ifyou're asking me, I mean tank or
healer is probably the way togo.
Oh yeah, I didn't even thinkabout healer.
Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
So I mean healers are
hard.
Healers are hard.
Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
Healers are hard to
find.
Speaker 2 (01:07:53):
I think I'm going to
do healer, because that was
before.
You said that I was like thatmight be where she'd go.
Speaker 1 (01:07:58):
Yep Healers are hard
to find.
Speaker 3 (01:08:02):
I would have put her
in a tank, but yeah, that also
works.
Speaker 2 (01:08:04):
You could also find a
good tank, yeah because I saw
some good tanks on there thatI'm like.
I hope.
Speaker 1 (01:08:09):
Yeah, no, that's a
good call, I'm going to get like
Barney the.
Speaker 2 (01:08:12):
Dinosaur or something
.
Speaker 3 (01:08:14):
There are a lot of
Barney cosplays.
Speaker 1 (01:08:18):
There can be, Phil.
Let's see what you end up with.
Speaker 3 (01:08:22):
Oh wow but he just
just in case.
I almost spoiled something.
Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
But like I was like
don't you dare.
Speaker 3 (01:08:31):
He's just a guy.
He's not very good at what hedoes.
Um, we're gonna.
We're gonna skip Joel.
I'm'm sorry.
I love joel, are you for real?
What is he gonna do againstspider-man and wanda maximoff?
Speaker 2 (01:08:51):
I don't know.
I probably would have put himas vice captain if I were you,
but that's just me, that's crazy, really okay, so we're so this
is joel, but I'm going to skip.
Speaker 1 (01:09:01):
This is where, well,
you do have a good captain, but
you're telling Look at this face, like you're telling me.
Speaker 3 (01:09:07):
What do I put Pedro
there?
Speaker 1 (01:09:08):
No, but look at this
face.
Like you're telling me hewouldn't, he wouldn't Once it
loads.
Like you're telling me this guycan't be a good vice captain.
Come on, man, I trust him.
Come on, I don't.
Speaker 2 (01:09:16):
I don't, I don't, I
don't, I don't, I don't, I don't
, I don't, I don't, I don't, Idon't I don't, I don't, I don't,
I don't, I don't.
I don't, I don't know.
Yeah, this is another one.
You don't know, she's theorange-haired girl from it.
Speaker 3 (01:09:46):
What's her power?
Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
She's spicy.
She's in an Ava unit.
She's a mech pilot.
Speaker 1 (01:09:51):
Oh, okay.
Yeah, I would say you could getthe mech with her, okay.
Speaker 2 (01:09:57):
Yeah, I think that's
fair, Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:09:59):
Yeah, I think that's
fair.
What is the what's the mech?
Look like it's a.
Speaker 1 (01:10:05):
Evangelion Unit 2.
Okay, this is kind of cool.
Speaker 3 (01:10:09):
Alright, is she just
a really good pilot, or does she
also have powers?
Speaker 2 (01:10:14):
No, she's just a
really good pilot.
Speaker 1 (01:10:17):
Because of childhood
trauma, she has developed a
competitive and outgoingcharacter.
Speaker 3 (01:10:20):
Oh yeah, childhood
trauma, childhood trauma.
Yeah, she's going to be superstrong Tank.
Speaker 1 (01:10:27):
Let's put the mecha
tank All right, so we're going
tank here.
Speaker 2 (01:10:33):
I feel like that only
makes sense.
Speaker 1 (01:10:35):
But the childhood
trauma Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:10:37):
Yeah, the trauma is
what put it over the top.
Yeah, that's pretty fair.
Okay, yeah, the trauma is whatput it over the top.
Speaker 1 (01:10:40):
Yeah, that's pretty
fair.
Okay, well, we'll go ahead anddo tank then for you, and then
we will jump into.
Speaker 3 (01:10:48):
Asuka, soryu, our
next one.
All right, is that how youpronounce Soryu?
Yes, soryu.
Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
Okay, all right,
let's go ahead and go to Rue.
Remember, rue, you do have askip if you so need it.
Oh my God, your team is theAvengers.
Her team is the Avengers.
What the fuck is this?
So, rue, I will reveal and showyou back your team, although I
(01:11:15):
think this might be the quickestone.
What is Edward even doing here?
Speaker 2 (01:11:23):
This is nuts.
I forgot Spider-Man's there.
Speaker 1 (01:11:25):
This is insane.
Speaker 2 (01:11:27):
But in all actuality,
though, is it an easy pick of
where he goes.
Speaker 1 (01:11:32):
Rue if you don't pick
Tank.
Speaker 3 (01:11:36):
But older Thor is a
really good leader.
Speaker 2 (01:11:40):
That's what I'm
saying.
I'm like I don't know, or youput him in support.
Speaker 1 (01:11:43):
Come on now.
At this rate you're probablygoing to get like Iron man.
You know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:11:49):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:11:49):
I think Luffy's going
to join the Avengers.
Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
We're going to get
Luffy, so yeah, we'll put him as
tank.
Speaker 3 (01:11:53):
We'll save the
captain spot.
This is a Marvel Rivals theme.
Edward speed, edwardScissorhands is just Wolverine.
She literally has a MarvelRivals loadout.
Speaker 1 (01:12:05):
That is wild,
actually, kind of crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:12:09):
I'm going to get
Softy McNo one from some anime
that I don't watch.
Okay, okay there we go.
Oh, he took.
Speaker 1 (01:12:17):
Iron man?
No way, honestly, the fact thatyou used up your captain spot,
though, is kind of.
Speaker 3 (01:12:24):
That's okay, I still
know I'm still good with Geralt.
No, we'll put him as vice yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
That is wild.
You just said Iron man too, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:12:32):
I know this healer is
going to be tough.
If he's going to work well, mean there's nowhere else to put
him.
Speaker 3 (01:12:38):
I mean he made the
argument that he was.
He alternated with Cap quite abit as far as who was in charge.
Speaker 1 (01:12:43):
so yeah, but you know
, towards the end.
Speaker 2 (01:12:46):
I mean, isn't he?
Like you know super techie andlike, there's the tank that has
all the parts.
Speaker 3 (01:12:52):
Oh yeah, there you go
, she's going to give him yeah,
he's going to give her a newit's actually pretty legit.
Speaker 1 (01:13:00):
Well, you need some
help here.
All right, okay.
Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
Dagon loves this show
and I still haven't seen it.
Speaker 3 (01:13:07):
I watched the first
season.
That's just too much of acommitment.
I'll be honest.
Speaker 1 (01:13:12):
What does he do?
How would you summarize D?
Speaker 3 (01:13:15):
He has all of his
abilities.
It's not like he's.
It all has to do with theparanormal.
Speaker 2 (01:13:22):
So if you're not
fighting demons or wendigo or
ghosts or anything like, that Idon't know how much, how much
out of the faith of megan, justabsolutely hounding me about the
show.
I cannot skip him, so I'm gonnahave to do support.
Speaker 3 (01:13:36):
She would actually
she'd execute me dean and joel
just punching each other whileeveryone else is having like a
super powered fight and thosetwo guys are just hitting each
other.
Actually, they'd probably getalong really well so probably.
They'd probably just like havea beer and watch the fight.
But supernatural is really good.
It's again with.
With that there's just too manyand that show you know episodes
(01:13:57):
.
We're talking about 45 minutecommitments.
Speaker 1 (01:13:59):
Right.
Speaker 3 (01:14:00):
Instead of a 30
minute.
You know show so yeah.
All right.
Is that is Dustin the kid fromStranger Things.
Speaker 2 (01:14:08):
Yes, possibly.
Speaker 3 (01:14:09):
Oh my oh, no, ain't
no way.
Oh my God, oh God, I thought Ispoke it into existence.
Speaker 2 (01:14:29):
Okay, oh, that's
unfortunate.
So, phil, here's your team,okay?
Speaker 3 (01:14:30):
um well, deadpool can
heal himself but I don't think
he heals other people, so I'llput him at support oh man, I
can't wait to see who and healso had that.
Yeah, he had that cameo with um, uh, with what's his name, uh,
with gerald.
Why am I thinking, why am I notthinking of the name of the
actor, henry cavill, in themovie?
So he also had that cameo withwhat's his name, with Geralt.
Why am I not thinking of the?
Speaker 1 (01:14:43):
name of the actor.
Speaker 3 (01:14:44):
Henry Cavill in the
movie.
So yeah, there you go.
Speaker 2 (01:14:47):
Your healer is going
to be Dustin.
Just wait.
Speaker 3 (01:14:49):
It's going to be
something bad.
The healer is always tough.
Speaker 1 (01:14:54):
It's usually a make
or break, honestly, the way it
goes.
All right, rue, we got you backback.
You have one support and onecaptain to fill.
Speaker 3 (01:15:02):
No way, this is nuts,
this is absolutely nuts okay,
um, just a person.
Speaker 1 (01:15:11):
Huh, let's just have
your skip you also have your
skip and you, I mean you couldkind of afford to use it
honestly.
Speaker 3 (01:15:20):
I see you want to
fill out the adventures.
Speaker 2 (01:15:23):
I almost want to do
it for the meme, but I think I
think I will skip this one.
I want to get something out ofit, out of that what do you have
?
Speaker 1 (01:15:30):
tank and support yeah
, so this is a ruse team, as a
reminder oh no, you have to havecaptain and support oh okay,
captain's gonna be.
Speaker 3 (01:15:40):
Oh, that one's, dean.
I thought Dean was the otherone.
Speaker 2 (01:15:42):
That's Sam.
Speaker 3 (01:15:44):
Sam.
Speaker 1 (01:15:48):
Yeah no we can do it,
we can do a respin, let's go
for it.
Speaker 2 (01:15:51):
Yeah, let's do a
respin.
Oh gosh.
Speaker 1 (01:15:57):
I almost got Luffy.
That was so close.
Speaker 2 (01:16:01):
Okay, Luigi's going
support.
I'm leaving my captain up tocomplete chance at this point.
Speaker 1 (01:16:06):
Man, that would have
been crazy on a reroll.
Ah, that would have been sogood.
Yeah, all right.
Now this is going to take amoment, because whenever I get
Luigi, I have to specificallypick the one for Luigi Mansion.
Speaker 3 (01:16:19):
Yeah, he's going to
pick Luigi's Mansion, luigi.
Speaker 1 (01:16:22):
Here we go.
Yep, there we go, alright.
Speaker 2 (01:16:24):
But like him and Dean
, though that's, if there's
paranormal stuff going on, wegot that covered.
Speaker 3 (01:16:29):
Yeah, but I don't
have any paranormal people on my
team I said, if this isn'trelated, yeah, but we're
fighting each other.
Speaker 2 (01:16:36):
Yeah, no, but I'm
talking about they have a side
job.
Don't worry about the fight.
Look at that face.
Speaker 1 (01:16:42):
Side job.
Who wouldn't trust that faceyeah.
Speaker 2 (01:16:45):
Yeah, yeah For sure,
for sure?
Speaker 1 (01:16:48):
Okay, let's remove
them.
Speaker 3 (01:16:51):
Oh crap.
Speaker 1 (01:16:52):
Phil, this is.
Speaker 3 (01:16:53):
Are there any healers
on here?
Speaker 1 (01:16:55):
I mean maybe we're
about to find out, oh.
Speaker 2 (01:16:59):
Oh, let's go.
No, sailor moon come on.
Speaker 1 (01:17:04):
Okay well, phil.
So I mean feels good feels goodman, I almost got sam I mean,
does she uh, does she heal yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:17:19):
can Sure Sailor
Moon's probably nurturing.
He doesn't even know, he's justlike yeah, I just felt good
about getting Sailor Moon.
Look, I could have gottenDustin from Stranger Things, so
I'm just happy about getting agood character.
Speaker 1 (01:17:29):
Okay, so, Phil, this
is your squad.
I feel good.
That's actually a pretty goodsquad.
I feel really good reallymagical.
Which is crazy, because I knowfor a fact you don't know like
three quarters of thesecharacters.
Speaker 2 (01:17:42):
Wait, hu Tao is a
ghost girl and I've got two guys
that go against ghosts.
Oh, no Shit.
Speaker 1 (01:17:52):
That's unfortunate,
that is crazy.
Okay, he's on here Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:17:55):
I see some bad
captains on here, so yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:17:59):
Mine won't be bad,
don't worry, it's going to be a
Marvel character, so Mine won'tbe bad.
Speaker 1 (01:18:02):
Don't worry, it's
gonna be a Marvel character.
Speaker 2 (01:18:03):
so this is our spin.
Speaker 3 (01:18:06):
John Snow.
Speaker 1 (01:18:08):
I don't know anything
about him.
That's like a pretty goodcaptain to get.
Speaker 2 (01:18:13):
Solid.
Speaker 1 (01:18:14):
That's a pretty good
captain to get.
So yeah, we're gonna look atRue's team now.
And yeah, Rue, I'm not going tolie, Captain, if you weren't
going to get Luffy, I mean JonSnow's pretty good People will
fight behind him, Okay good.
A little Game of Thrones action.
Speaker 3 (01:18:35):
The Game of Thrones
characters have powers, or is it
just political?
Intrigue like political power.
It's hard to explain that Mostof them don't have powers.
Or is it just politicalintrigue Like political?
Speaker 1 (01:18:41):
power.
It's hard to explain that Mostof them don't have powers.
Speaker 3 (01:18:45):
It feels like Jon
Snow and Geralt could have some
sort of crossover event.
Speaker 2 (01:18:48):
Oh for sure, yeah, if
they're not following him,
they're going to followSpider-Man.
That's why he's vice captain.
Speaker 3 (01:18:54):
It's like if Jon Snow
if they don't listen to him.
Yeah, because Spider-Man, wandaand Thor are going to be flying
and Jon Snow will just be likeI'll be right there, he'll be
pointing.
Dean will at least be in thecool car.
Speaker 2 (01:19:08):
Him and Luigi are on
Ghostbusters.
They'll be on the car, they'llbe in the car together and then
I don't know what EdwardScissorhands is going to be
doing.
Speaker 1 (01:19:17):
He's giving haircuts.
Let's go back and forth and seewhat decision is going to be
made here.
Speaker 3 (01:19:25):
So Phil, here is your
team.
Speaker 1 (01:19:26):
You want to read it
out for the audience.
Yeah, yeah, so you got GeraltGeralt, is that who?
You said Geralt Geralt From theWitcher series as Captain, iron
man as co-captain.
You've got that chick from EvonAsuka, you've got Sailor Moon.
So as the tank, you've got theSailor Moon.
(01:19:49):
As healer, you got some ghostgirl from Genshin as support.
Hu Tao, you've got her 2B, 2b.
You're doing great with us.
I love it.
Deadpool as support as well, uh, but that doesn't really matter
because uh ruse got john snowas captain, spider-man as vice
(01:20:12):
captain, thor's tank, wandamaximoff as healer, uh, edward
scissorhands as support, deanfrom Supernatural as support and
Luigi as support.
Speaker 3 (01:20:24):
What does the Dean
cosplay look like?
Just for a second.
It's just a guy.
It's just a guy.
Yeah, that's just a Wolverinecosplay with no mutton chops and
no claws.
Speaker 1 (01:20:34):
That's.
Speaker 3 (01:20:35):
Dean yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:20:37):
Yeah, I will call out
some other notable ones here
after we've chosen a winner.
But Phil, I think we both knowwho won here.
Speaker 3 (01:20:47):
Yes, I will take my
victory.
The Wanda thing honestly, theWanda alone of it is kind of
like it kind of wipes everythingelse out.
Speaker 2 (01:20:56):
Yeah, because isn't
she like really powerful?
Speaker 3 (01:20:59):
Yeah, I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:21:00):
She's like beating
Thanos in the comics.
I would say Captain and ViceCaptain are pretty much a
toss-up for both teams right.
Speaker 3 (01:21:09):
It came down to Tank
and Healer.
Speaker 1 (01:21:11):
Tank and Healer and
even Tank, you could kind of say
, because it's a mech maybe.
Speaker 2 (01:21:16):
Can't Thor put his
hammer on the mech and then it
can't get up?
Okay, well, never mind.
Speaker 1 (01:21:22):
Yeah, no, that's a
great point and then I think,
support-wise.
Speaker 2 (01:21:27):
Again, Ghostbusters
versus the Ghost Girl.
Come on, yeah, for sure.
Speaker 1 (01:21:33):
Although none of them
To me it's powerful.
Speaker 3 (01:21:35):
I'm pretty sure I
don't think Edward Scissorhands
is a combat main, so maybesupport you win there, phil.
Yeah, I think Deadpoolabsolutely kills Edward
Scissorhands immediately.
And probably Luigi.
If we're being honest, he mightkill all three support
characters.
Speaker 1 (01:21:51):
Well, here's our
winning team.
Congratulations, Rue Great job.
Speaker 2 (01:21:56):
And without getting
Luffy although we were so close.
What were the chances?
Speaker 1 (01:22:01):
of that.
Speaker 3 (01:22:03):
Like two thirds of
the Avengers Endgame cast.
Speaker 2 (01:22:06):
I almost had Black
Widow too.
Speaker 1 (01:22:07):
if I didn't skip her,
I will tell you looking at this
now, there are a ton ofsuperhero characters.
The first 13 slots aresuperhero characters from movies
, and then it's Elsa, anna, jack, skellington Trinity and Neo
from the matrix, and then thebride from kill bill.
Speaker 3 (01:22:29):
I don't understand,
you could have.
You could have individuallyselected characters, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:22:33):
No, I know, but these
are the ones that chat GBT.
Speaker 3 (01:22:36):
Yeah, but no, you
could have done it.
Speaker 1 (01:22:40):
There were also a.
Here were a couple othercharacters in the anime bracket.
Obviously you had Deku Todoroki, bakugo, zero Two from Darling
in the Franxx Luffy Zoro fromOne Piece.
We also had Goku in there aswell.
Levi Amikasa Ackerman.
You had Nezuko and Tanjiro.
(01:23:01):
From Demon Slayer, you hadNaruto in there.
From the TV show side, you hadEleven in there.
Speaker 3 (01:23:08):
Well, at least she's
got powers unlike Dustin.
Speaker 1 (01:23:11):
Dustin was in there.
Yeah, Dustin was in there.
You had She-Ra in there.
You had Raven and Robin fromTeen Titans.
Speaker 3 (01:23:18):
Go, those would have
been good.
Speaker 1 (01:23:20):
From Go, yeah, from
Go.
That's where Wanda came from.
Wanda for WandaVision Visionwas also in there.
Homelander was in here.
Speaker 3 (01:23:30):
Oh, Captain.
Speaker 1 (01:23:33):
And then video game
characters.
You had Jinx from League ofLegends.
You had Link in Zelda LaraCroft.
That's where the Witcher camein.
You had Link and Zelda LauraCroft that's where the Witcher
came in.
You had Mario and Luigi.
You had Joel and Ellie.
Princess Peach in here yeah, not much help against that
Tracer from Overwatch.
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:23:54):
Was DVa in there.
Speaker 1 (01:23:55):
I saw DVa.
Dva was in there, yep.
So yeah, a couple notable ones, but yeah, that's what we had.
So yeah, a couple of notableones, but yeah, that's what we
had.
And, phil, I think you lostfair and square.
If you ask me, I don't knowthat's not my wheel.
Speaker 3 (01:24:06):
You shouldn't have
skipped.
Speaker 2 (01:24:08):
Joel, it's not my
wheel.
Speaker 3 (01:24:09):
I disagree.
Speaker 2 (01:24:10):
Joel would have taken
you to the top.
Speaker 3 (01:24:12):
Wait, who did I end
up with?
Oh, deadpool, didn't I?
Get Deadpool instead of Joel.
Speaker 1 (01:24:16):
Yes, yeah, that was
good stuff, yeah, but fun stuff,
I suppose, so close well, thiswas a whole lot of fun, rue.
Speaker 3 (01:24:30):
Uh, we thank you so
much for the time here this
evening, like you said, especially amongst your busy,
busy schedule.
We hope to see you at someconventions here down the road.
And, uh, eric, you know, actually I recently I threw out
an idea for maybe not thisyear's Bold Matsuri, but maybe
another convention down the roadas far as a project that I
think I want to try out.
And, rue, I think you will bereally perfect for that.
(01:24:51):
So we'll talk a little bit offthe air.
Maybe the Patreon team will getto hear about what that idea is
.
But before we get out of herefor the evening, once again, if
you could please let everybodyknow where they can find you and
all your work, as well asanything else you're working on,
before we wrap up.
Speaker 1 (01:25:07):
And I'd also
mentioned Rue that this episode
is going to drop at the end ofMay, so anything after that.
So if you have a con nextweekend, this episode will not
be up by then.
So I forgot to mention thatearlier.
Speaker 2 (01:25:19):
Oh no, will not be
out by then, so I forgot to
mention that earlier.
Oh no, you're good.
So you can find me on.
All my socials are atRooRiderVA just my name and then
VA.
At the end I have my website, rooridercom.
And then something that we justworked on was me and Sarah Bae
and Trina, the main four from myDear Friend Nocaton we just
dropped the English four from myDear Friend no Katan we just
(01:25:40):
dropped the English cover of myDear Friend no Katan's opening
on YouTube, which is alsoRooRiderVA.
So if you guys wanted to checkthat out, that was a whole lot
of fun to do.
I do have MizuKan, which atthis point I will have had
MizuKan when this comes out andI had a great time.
I'm projecting that and, uh, Iwill be at finn con in miami in
(01:26:02):
june, delta h in houston in julyand then some other cons kind
of sporadically throughout theyear.
So I'll be kind of all over theplace, mostly in florida,
though awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:26:13):
We love to hear it
rue and, honestly, we really
appreciate you being able tocome on.
We can't wait to get the restof the no Catan cast on as well,
so it's going to be very, veryexciting.
But, phil, this is our time.
Yeah, I don't know whathappened there.
Speaker 3 (01:26:29):
I don't know what
happened either.
I could not hear anything, sodid anything.
Speaker 1 (01:26:32):
I say come through,
yeah, okay, oh yeah, good, yeah,
well, before Phil finds a wayto technically ruin the last of
the episode and we have torerecord the whole thing.
Speaker 3 (01:26:44):
Phil yeah, let's take
it from the top.
Let's start with the wheel.
No, I want one.
No, no.
Speaker 1 (01:26:49):
Rue one, fair and
square.
But, phil, if you want to leteverybody know the spiel at the
end, here we'll wrap up thisepisode.
