Speaker 1 (00:00):
No matter what the spot where it's played or the
teams behind it, We've got it.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
This is the water Boys thanks to Tasmag, Devinport, Montesston,
Bridgewater and Smithton, your local Koboda dealer.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
Good morning everyone, Welcome to the water Boys for another
Saturday of fun and frivolity. Brent Costlo with you alongside me,
old mate Blary Brown.
Speaker 4 (00:21):
So how are you Bb?
Speaker 5 (00:22):
Yes, good morning Brewne. I just noted the date one
April actually, so I wonder what you got your sleeve.
You're a bit of a trickster.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
I'm a trickster, but you picked up on that early unfortunately,
but it is April Fool's Day. I did think, how
can we trick the listeners this morning? But our listenership
is very smart, I think.
Speaker 5 (00:40):
So they are they exactly, But I do have one
that I fell aback to a launch investigation actually, because
why were the scores on Thursday night where the dogs
won by fourteen points and then last night the Pies
won by fourteen points, So they're going to launch an investigation?
Speaker 6 (00:57):
Why is that? So? At the same ground MC.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
I think, as I said, our list is are too
smart for your rubbish Blair, but it's.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
Interesting, good point by you. Fourteen and fourteen. What about
last night though? Were low scoring off?
Speaker 3 (01:10):
I was at the Cricket tas their awards last night,
which we'll get to in a minute, but low scoring
off for I didn't see much of it, but pretty
wet at the G.
Speaker 5 (01:16):
It was wet at the G and they needed roof
Brenne pretty clear.
Speaker 4 (01:20):
Don't get me started on that.
Speaker 6 (01:22):
It will come up a little bit better as well.
Speaker 5 (01:24):
But that was tight and tough and tense, and Tigers
had a few moments at very stages but pretty much
Collingwood were in control all game.
Speaker 6 (01:33):
But geez are off to a fly, Collingwood free and zip.
They are up.
Speaker 5 (01:36):
And about the first two weeks they were playing Brian
football and they tuffed it out last night, so they
won a different way last night they tuffed it out,
so they are a complete side, There's no doubt about it.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
There was an absolute spanking in the NRL last night
running through this result.
Speaker 5 (01:50):
Well Panthers fifty three, camber Raiders twelve.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
That's a stacking.
Speaker 5 (01:55):
That's not good for Friday night football, is it. And
the Rabbitos as well went down to the storm storm
eighteen Rabbitos ten go stormy.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
You know what to like about the NRL's coming home
and their first game starts at six, so often tune
in for that and then you switch over. You get
the first game in just about before the AFL starts.
Speaker 6 (02:14):
It's great, exactly right seven fifty starting out.
Speaker 5 (02:17):
Please, there's a massive difference between seven twenty Thursday Night
seven twenty to seven fifty. And if it's only because
of better homes and garden I will we should be protesting.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Absolutely, we should be because it's seven twenty is the
absolute sweet spot.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
There's no doubt about to.
Speaker 6 (02:35):
Day night as well.
Speaker 5 (02:36):
Brene Thursday Night seven twenty and Friday Night exactly better homes.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
And gardens, fair income yep, no get rid of it.
I agree now.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
A leg last night as well, Adelaide United three, Western
Sydney two.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
So that's a big.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Win for Adelaide United in terms of the ladder and
a heavy loss too. For a heavy loss, but a
big loss of Western Sydney because they are pretty tight
on the table at the moment. Big ahead this morning
cricket Tasbarni Awards last night.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
We'll get to that shortly. Yeah, I got a scoop
for you there, which is which is good? We'll get
that in the minute.
Speaker 6 (03:07):
Well is it that all the players are leaving?
Speaker 4 (03:09):
Well, it might be something, It might be something eight.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Oh my goodness, gracious me. I do ask Jordan's sill
about that later in the show as well. We'll get
to that in the second hour. Also, Sam McDaniel coming
up this morning too. He saw him with the Bristom
Bullets yesterday to play with the Hobart Chargers tonight in
NBO won So a lot to ask Sammy about later
in the show. Your man, Jeremy Webby, we pleased to
hear from you, I reckon.
Speaker 6 (03:32):
You'd be very happy to hear from me. To the devils. Yeah,
the boys team are away, the girls are into round two.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
That's exciting, exactly right, So looking forward to that and
then a big game at Utah Stadium today.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
It's unusual to say a big game about North Melbourne, but.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
A lot of interesting the rules at the moment after
their great start of the season, and looking forward to
talking to Lee Adams of course, was the interim coach
last year.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
Exactly think you won a Lynch medal actually.
Speaker 6 (03:59):
And the Alastair clarkson Cup.
Speaker 5 (04:02):
Yes, play Hawthorn, Melbourne Clark when you love to interview
Clark and just ask him about his relationship with Hawthorne.
Speaker 6 (04:10):
Absolutely, because we asked the tough questions.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Absolutely. Adrian Hickmodal join us too from Hawthorne.
Speaker 6 (04:18):
Yeah, former Geelong play Oh.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
Well you get that.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Indian and raiser Rob Wilkinson, he's in the cage tomorrow,
looking forward to chatting to raise a got the million
dollar payday last year and he's back starting at all
again tomorrow morning. Also we'll look at the Hobart Airport
Marathon which is happening tomorrow morning, looking forward to that.
Blair is going to give us his top three too
for the Australian Grand Prix, which of course is happening
at Out of the Park tomorrow. So somehow we're squeezing
(04:43):
all that into the next couple of hours.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
Don't go anywhere.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Back with more next year on The water Boys run
across Tasmania. Thanks to tas Mack, your local Caboda dealer.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
This's the water Boys.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
Thanks to tas Mack, You're local Caboda dealer. It is
the water Boys who Brent Costella and Blair Browns.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Thing on score from the past seven days. Here's the
water boys wise.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
When he going on as always locally, nationally and internationally.
Want to start with basketball because unfortunately, my man, the
iceman Isaac White has signed a two year deal with
the Brisom Boards.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
And say unfortunately, but that's great news for him.
Speaker 6 (05:19):
Where is the loyalty brand?
Speaker 2 (05:20):
No?
Speaker 4 (05:20):
No, well you got to go where he was a
project player.
Speaker 6 (05:23):
What's it called development player? Project?
Speaker 3 (05:26):
We came in as an injury replacement player actually, and
then he got upgraded to a development player.
Speaker 5 (05:31):
And so he got his opportunity at the JJS and
he got some court time, some serious court time, and
you think you a bit of loyalty showed some form.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
You've got to look after yourself, Blair, And who knows
what maybe the jay I don't have no idea, but
if you've got a two ud up in Brisbane and
maybe get a one year deal here, I'm not sure,
but you've got to go where your security is. And
I know he had a real trouble he almost missed
out in a contract last year and didn't play in
the NBL.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
So you've got to look after yourself.
Speaker 5 (05:58):
To remember where you get your opportunities, but why would
you go to Brisbane Bullets They had diabolical organization and
jjays always you know you're going to play finals based
on the last two years.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Well, Brisbane only had I think four players signed, so
they're starting again.
Speaker 5 (06:14):
Basically, there must be be the salary cap, money keeps.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
Yeah, that's right, that's right. Who knows what the money
off force as well, so you've got to look after yourself.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
I certainly don't blame.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Sam McDaniel going to Brisbane too, and we've got Sammy
coming up very very soon on the with the Chargers.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
He is for the time being, which is good.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
But plenty going on and plenty will happen in NBL
free agency over the next week or two. Hey, what
about harness raising big story this week, probably a bit
heavy forout Fluffy show.
Speaker 5 (06:44):
Won't let the investigations course there, but it's not good.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
There's plenty going on behind the scenes, but we might
unpack it in the next few weeks, but we'll get
to that.
Speaker 4 (06:55):
Mitch Awen was the big story during the week.
Speaker 5 (06:57):
Please come on, great smoothness, gracious, we had the big
night over there and mitch Owen's the winner.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
I said, and happy he came and.
Speaker 5 (07:07):
All the media did, Media Street didn't he And so
clearly the best player in the competition. And I'm not
sure it's actually the awards for the best and fairest, okay,
but he still wins that we did.
Speaker 4 (07:19):
Miss a game as that was the problem for the game.
Speaker 5 (07:21):
Yeah, he got the conversation as the captains do after
that one of the games, had a conversation both captains
with the umpires and he he got a repomand for
that and did miss a game. As you said, brand,
he was found guilty a Code of Behavior breach, so he.
Speaker 6 (07:39):
Got suspended sentence sort of thing.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Well, not even that, I don't think it was just
more it was found guilty of a breach, right, but yeah, no,
no games missed, and I think that's where it was
missed in the process as well, because he wasn't actually
missing a game of cricket. So yeah, he g handed himself.
Well with him, he was a gun.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
And then you look at.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
That page of the paper today you'll see Jack White
New Suffolk ball and they look rapped, don't they. The
metal around their neck you feel you wouldn't feel like
it was yours.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
They lost something got six votes, so they.
Speaker 5 (08:09):
Know that, you can just tell by the expression on
their face. Like you said that, they know that Mitchellan
was the clear best and fairest player in the competition
and we.
Speaker 6 (08:18):
Know it too.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
So it's just it's just a really unfortunate that set
of circumstances and never should have happened.
Speaker 6 (08:24):
I mean, yeah, these things, these are.
Speaker 5 (08:27):
Big mistakes to make when once you roll out the winner,
and I think all media has been taken away from
him ever winning is if you try and google Mitchellen
An Award win.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
I reckon the articles will still come up.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
The Mercury, well, I'm sure will now got some breaking
news news Hound.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
Tasmania Awards last night.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Jordan Silk officially farewell been McDermott so yeah, you can
cross him off the list next year to Queensland, so
that is official. Peter Sills obviously official as well. With
way well, I asked Jordan's talking about that. He wasn't
sure with that.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
He's still in the circuit. He's doing twenty circuit. Tim
Payne retired, Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
It was a lovely farewell to Tim last night as well,
and the awards the big one for me Emma Thompson
as well.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
Congratulations a thirteen year career.
Speaker 6 (09:15):
So how many years did she play?
Speaker 4 (09:16):
That a long time?
Speaker 5 (09:17):
I question thirteen years for Thompson, that's great. The big
one for me is Nathan Ellis. What's he doing?
Speaker 4 (09:22):
I'm hearing you staying right yeap.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
So that's my male that he will go and stay
with the Tigers, which is good news because he could
easily go and do the Tea twenty circuit.
Speaker 6 (09:31):
Couldn't.
Speaker 5 (09:32):
He must be seriously considering, but yeah, hopefully he stays.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
Also, Linda's faying. Great cricket win last week.
Speaker 5 (09:40):
Wow, that was great with university star studded line up
if you don't.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
Mind they read it towards the end. But Charlie Wakem
was outstanding.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
Wilkie as well.
Speaker 5 (09:51):
Wilkie, they're coming at number eleven fifty not out, wasn't that?
Speaker 6 (09:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (09:54):
Crazy?
Speaker 6 (09:55):
And Wakenm two hundred.
Speaker 5 (09:57):
Now he'll probably get a Shield contract on the back
of that. I think he'd be a bit iffy whether
they go again with him Cricket Tasmania, but I think
on the back of that he'll get another contract.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
But I didn't think so.
Speaker 5 (10:07):
Yeah, that was amazing and yeah, all the big stars
from the university just couldn't get the job done.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Under Courtney web and Heather Graham from a Tasmani perspective,
making the Australia a team during the week.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
Now, I want to have a bit of a ranting
about this.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
That's good because Don Baker fronted the Parliamentary inquiry into
the stadium yesterday and was brought up about the roof
and this was new news. I'm not sure why it
got so much attention yesterday because everyone knows you can't
play test creed under a roof, so I pluyted it months.
A guy asked Dom about it months, David Boone about it.
Who's the SEC match referee of course, so it's not
(10:43):
new information. But anyway, that's not the point. I want
to ask you, why do we need a roof on
this stadium for you could save a couple of hundred
million dollars by not having one. It's not much cold
of the Melbourne people understand, if you go to the
foot in the middle of the winter you.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Need to rug up. It's part of the beauty of it.
I reckon why.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
I mean, it's going to be a fully circle, fully
oval stadium. There's not going to be breeze tunnels and
wind tunnels coming through it. We don't have much rain,
especially compared to someone like Sydney, which doesn't have a roof.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
Why tell me when we need a roof?
Speaker 6 (11:13):
All very good points.
Speaker 5 (11:14):
I think you just went tick tick tick, why we
don't need exactly right?
Speaker 6 (11:18):
Then there was a thought there was just going to
be too cult here.
Speaker 5 (11:21):
But the weather difference from Melbourne to Hobart is one
or two degrees if that, And you're actually right, and
we've all been sucked into this concept that we need
a stadium roof stadium to get into the AFL and
to play cricket and all those things. But when you
think about it and you stop from me and go what, yes,
(11:42):
why if it's fully.
Speaker 6 (11:43):
Circler and the closed, you don't that.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
Wind tunnels are the big problem actually if there's a
bit of an opening and that sort of stuff. But no,
I agree, Brando, I'm with you on that one.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
And the other thing is if we do have a roof,
it will have to be retractable. If you want to
play cricket there, it has to be play cricket. Can't
afford it a fixed roof and they were talking about
that Perspec's roof at one stage like in New Zealand. Yes,
you can't do it if you want to play cricket there,
and we have to have cricket there, So it's either
retractable or it's nothing.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
As far as I'm well.
Speaker 5 (12:11):
Retractable, well, if you put it that way, retractable is
too expensive, so it can't be that.
Speaker 6 (12:17):
So it has to be an open, open.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
Stadium anyway, watched his spine good point.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
How good was Jamari Glhagen on Thursday night, after the
week he had racially real a fight on social media,
comes out, lifts the shirt up, points to we skin
five goals one after the sign.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Amazing.
Speaker 5 (12:31):
That was amazing response and good on him. I mean,
there was so much pressure on him for so many years,
wasn't there? And last year you just saw he was
going to be really good player and he started the
season really well. So congratulations to him. It says a
lot about his character.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
Bo Belbourne's got a fight locked in May twenty seven.
Hall looking forward to that. Hasn't much around getting his
next fight locked in after going down to Nikketazool a
couple of weeks ago and just quickly from all of
this shit at the water Boys. Condolences to the Geared family.
Paul Geared passed away recently and just a superstar of
local racing of course owner Gg's BlackFlash and all the
(13:09):
Gg's horses. He's just done a monumental amount for Tasmanian racing.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
Paul Oh, he.
Speaker 6 (13:15):
Has and he's whole stable.
Speaker 5 (13:18):
It's a bit of question mark whether the stable continue
and who's going to take it over there and they
I think it's something like thirty percent of all horses
or something like that come from his stable, So it's
a big question mark what's going to happen with that
stable with the passing of Paul geedah.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
Absolutely resting post Paul, You're a star. Lots more sort
of come on the water Boys this morning. Later this
hour we talk with Jeremy Webley.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
The new.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
I said, new for Sam McDaniel not too far away either.
He's playing for the whole Art charges tonight. Some of
the Briston bullots yesterday, but up next I'm taking it
down to glen Auburn or State. The last night we
had the Cricket Tasmania Awards and I catch up with
Jordan's silk and the two Tigers captains. That's next year
on the water Boys right across Tasmania thanks to tas Mac,
(14:05):
your local Cobota dealer.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
This is the water Boys.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Thanks to Tasmac, your local Cobota dealer. It is the
water Boys with Brent Costello and Blair Brownless.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
It's the water Boys.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
Cricket Report lucky enough to be down at glenn Alburn
Estate overnight for the Cricket Tasmania Awards for season twenty
twenty two twenty twenty three. Of course it was a
wonderful celebration to recognize our women's team who were fantastic
of course only a month ago when they won the
WNCL Final four the second straight season in dramatic fashion
(14:39):
at Bluntted Arena against South Australia, taking five wickets in
the final over to win the match. That's where I
started this chat with alist Filani, the Tasmani and Tigers
at Women's skipper who is still letting it all sink in.
Speaker 7 (14:52):
To be honest, I couldn't remember that over at all.
Had to go back and watch it a couple of
times and just to see that like the way that
it played out like you're actually lost for words, like
you actually cannot describe that moment. Yeah, between Cody and
I out there basically chatting every ball and the way
that she was able to execute. I just don't think
that we'll ever see anything like that ever again, And personally,
(15:14):
I hope that I never experienced anything like that ever again,
because that was like pure stress, Like that was a
ten out of ten on the stressful scale. So yeah,
very relieved at the end of that game, and then
just pure elation as well. So yeah, to go back
to back was, yeah, amazing for our group.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
Have you mentioned the word three p ye.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
We were talking to Don Baker earlier and he said
you might get people in that have done three posts
to forger just to get some advice.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
Is that on your right A?
Speaker 7 (15:37):
Oh, look, it's an interesting concept. I mean, I haven't
spent too much time thinking about it, to be honest.
I think we're all recovering from that final over on
the field. Off the field, it truly was the most
stressful game I've ever been a part of. So to
think about going three pt now and think about the
stress that it required with a back to back is
something that I'm not ready to put myself through yet
at the moment. But look, obviously, you know, I feel
(15:58):
like we're you know, we've got a great group and
we've really built something, and I feel like we're looking
for sustainable success. So it obviously will be our goal
when we come back at pre season. But at the moment,
it's just about switching off and spending time with our
loved ones and making sure that we're enjoying ourselves away
from the cricket field. And then when we come back
it'll be time on task and making sure that we
get ahead of the pack because at the end of
(16:18):
the day, people are going to be yeah, coming for us,
so we've got to make sure that we get better
and better.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
Obviously, some great, outstanding individual performances this year, but Nick
Carey gets the Player of the must be enormously proud
of her season.
Speaker 7 (16:30):
Yeah, I am very proud. I think it's really well deserved.
And the fact that she missed a couple of games
as well, I think that just sort of showcases how
important she is to our team. She's a true all
rounder and she's dynamic in the field as well, so
to have her as captain is pretty unbelievable to have
her sort of talents with us on the field, and
she just really enjoys herself out there as well. You know,
(16:51):
she plays with a smile on her face most of
the time with the Tazzy Tigers, so it's really nice
to see her go out there, and I know how
much she enjoys being around the group as well, So
I think it's yeah reward for huge effort. But at
the same time, I thought there was some outstanding performances
from different individuals throughout the season as well, so I
thought it was a real team performance throughout the season.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
It certainly was, and a season we won't forget for
a long long time for our female cricketers. Congratulations to
Nick Carey for being named the Tasmanian Tigers Female Player
of the Year, and also to Emma Thompson for a
wonderful thirteen year career. She was honored at the function
last night, as was Tim Pain, who officially retired from
the game a couple of weeks ago. Was great to
(17:31):
see them both recognized in front of their peers and
the Cricket Tasmania family. Also caught up with Tasmanian men's
captain Jordan Silk. Obviously the Tigers didn't have the end
of the season they would like, but he's still looking
at the positives.
Speaker 8 (17:45):
Felt like, for the first time in probably a few years,
we'd actually put ourselves in a position at the BBL
break to really have a tilted you know, running home
well and getting ourselves into a final of whichever was
the marsh Cup or the Shield. So that was disappointing
because I feel like we had run home really well
in the past few years, so I felt like we
were set up really nicely to do the same and
(18:07):
it just didn't play out that way. We played some
poor cricket throughout that period, but now we also saw
some really strong performances as well in that back end,
and there are things that really excite me about this
group going forward.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
Looks like rin for a bit of change though over
the off season, losing some senior players we just saw
officially farewell be McDermott inside there. First we want to
ask you about Ben. What's there going to be a
big loss of the group.
Speaker 9 (18:29):
Yeah, it's quite sad, to be honest.
Speaker 8 (18:31):
Now I've played probably the last six or seven years
we've been in and he came down as a kid
pretty much and.
Speaker 9 (18:36):
Now he's such a lovable guy.
Speaker 8 (18:39):
So I mean a lot of I guess what people
see are just the runs on the board and the performances,
but what he actually is in our group and that
sort of person that we all really like being around.
So yeah, you know that's cricket, like you build these
friendships and yeah, you never liked seeing anyone go, but
you know, for him and for kids, the opportunity seem
(19:00):
like the right time for them. It's you know, for
Sids it's getting back to Melbourne and spending time with family,
and for Benny it's no different. So you know, I
think that's where we're in a unique spot and in
Tazzy that you know, we do bring in a lot
of players into state, and you know there's always the
risk that you're going to eventually potentially lose them down
the track, but you know, we wish both of them
like the very best success and I hope, you know,
(19:22):
Bennie can can brain it in Queens and Colors next year.
Speaker 9 (19:25):
I really do.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
There's rooms about other players. I won't ask you about
people individually, but do you expect a bit more change
as well? Apart from those two.
Speaker 9 (19:32):
I don't think so.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
No.
Speaker 8 (19:33):
I think I'm pretty confident with the group that we've
got at the moment that it won't it won't change
too much Outside of that.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
What about Wadey, I said I wouldn't ask for individual players,
but we obviously saw him miss the back into the
Shield season to see.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Lot to have a contract next season.
Speaker 8 (19:45):
I don't know from a contract perspective where we sit there,
but I still I see still a highly valued member
of our team. And I think the situation with Wadys,
you know, we recognize that he was off to explore,
so it's on the opportunities and we said go for it.
Speaker 9 (20:02):
Whilst he's still in the Australian we could keep her
in that format.
Speaker 8 (20:07):
There could be a time where that comes to an
end and he feels like he wants to come back
and contribute to Tazzy cricket, and you know, i'd like
to think that we would, you know, welcome him back
with open arms. And he's been nothing but a he's
a blue chip batsman in Shefferushire cricket. You know, average
is probably sixty for us since he's come back. It's
you know, we'd be it'd be remiss of us not
to consider him moving forward in our plans.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
Had a fantastic Ricky Ponting medalists tonight in Caleb Jill,
who's currently in New Zealand, can't be here, but getting
the opportunity he deserves, what says people together.
Speaker 9 (20:35):
Yeah, it was. It's truly incredible to see his growth.
Speaker 6 (20:40):
You know, he's.
Speaker 8 (20:42):
You know, he spent a favorite of time out of
the team after his debut and has just worked tirelessly
at north Over Korea Club, where he's made countless hundreds
even again this year. He just keeps making hundreds of
that level. And then to see him make four hundreds
throughout the year plus a second one hundred as well,
thoroughly deserves it, and it probably it just goes to
I remember chatting to him a couple of times throughout
the year where he.
Speaker 9 (21:02):
Was perhaps struggling at times.
Speaker 8 (21:04):
So you can actually have these little dips throughout a season,
but if you're strong enough mentally to be able to
put yourself out of that like he has done, and
you have the back half of the season like he did,
you know, he deserves he deserves everything tonight.
Speaker 9 (21:17):
So I'm absolutely wrap for him.
Speaker 8 (21:18):
As a as a mate and you know, really really excited
by what he can do and hopefully for him that
all starts tomorrow in Australia Colors.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
Yes you wish Caleb Jewel, the Ricky Ponting Medalist all
the very best in New Zealand with Australia a Some
of the other winners last night. The Female Young Player
of the Year was Amy Smith. The Jamie Cox Male
Young Player of the Year went to Ian carlos The
State Umpire of the Year no surprises, Sam Degoski. The
Chairman's Award for the Female Program went to Sarah Coyd,
of course, the star of that WNCL title win. The
(21:48):
Chairman's Award for the Male Program went to Mac Wright.
The Female Tigers Captain's Award went to Molly Strano. The
Scott Mason Mourial Male Captain's Award was won by Jackson Byrd.
The Hope Abart Hurricanes WBBL eight Player of the Tournament
was Mignon Dupreya. The Hobart Hurricanes Men's Player of the
Tournament for BBL twelve was Nathan Ellis. The Jack Simmons
(22:08):
Medal for the marsh One Day Cup Player of the
Year was Tom Rodgers after an outstanding season. The David
Boone Medal for the marsh Sheffield Chill Player of the
Year went to Boat Webster. So a wonderful night, a
lot of people recognize, which is fantastic to see and
a great way to end at the twenty twenty two
to twenty twenty three Tasmani and Tigers and Hobart Hurricane seasons. Alright,
We've got plenty more still to come on the water
(22:29):
Boys this morning. Lots of footy coming up in our
number two. But up next with switching our focus to
basketball when Sam McDaniel joins us, the former jack Jumper.
Speaker 4 (22:38):
Now brittin Bollet.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
He will be playing for the Hobart Chargers in the
NBA one season opener on the Northwest Coast tonight against
the Thunder. That's next on the water Boys right across
Tasbania thanks to tas Back your local Combota Dealer. This
here's the water Boys, thanks to tas Back your local
Combota Dealer. It's the water Boys with Brent Costello and
Blair Brownless on this Saturday morning. It's April Fool's Day,
(22:59):
twenty twenty thans three.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
It's time to.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
Shoot some hoops at the water Boys talk all things basketball.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
Well, we've got some big news yesterday with former jack
Jumper Sam McDaniel signing with the bris and Bullets for
NBL twenty four. Also Sammy suiting up for the whole
Art Chargers tonight in NBL one to take on the
Northwest Thunder on the Northwest coast. We had absolute cracker
and please to say Sam McDaniel joins us on the
line this morning. Sammy, welcome mate, and congratulations on the
(23:25):
signing with the Bullets.
Speaker 10 (23:26):
Oh, thank you so much. I appreciate it and thanks
for having me.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
Let's go back to the start. We'll get to charge
this stuff shortly. But obviously this is the hot topic, guest.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
Thing. You just signed with the Bullets yesterday.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
But the decision to leave the jack Jumpers made I'm
sure it wasn't an easy one.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
You could have.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
Stayed if you wanted to, so just bring us up
to speed on moy decided to go for a fresh start.
Speaker 10 (23:48):
Yeah, absolutely, Like you said, I could have stayed. I
had a player option for my third year, which obviously
would have been next season. And yeah, it was a
really tough decision. I've loved everything about the jack jumps
and the way they've done things. The fans, you know,
my teammates had been super supportive, and yeah, it was
it was a rough year for me last year, obviously,
(24:10):
getting injured early, breaking my rib and then getting another
injury during the season and tearing my calf. So those
the injuries kind of sent me back obviously. Then I
didn't see a whole lot of game game time at
the end of the season, obviously, and that's just kind
of part of the deal. You know, it happens through
most people's basketball careers. But it was kind of communicated
(24:31):
to me and in the after season meeting that it
might be the way that it goes again next season
for me in terms of playing and roll and things
like that. And you know, I'm twenty seven years old
and I'm at the point of my career where I
just feel like I need a real opportunity to get
out there and consistently and show what I can do.
(24:52):
And so there was no hard feelings, and yeah, I
just had to had to make the moves.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
And the prison bullets is where you've landed, always the
number one option for you. Were there other ones you
could choose between or was Brisbane always always the place
you wanted to get to?
Speaker 11 (25:07):
Yeah, I think I.
Speaker 10 (25:09):
Think Brisbane was always a strong one in my mind
because I worked with Justin Schulder before at Melbourne and
also and also Darren McDonald's team mat over there as well,
and so I had those sort of connections. And yeah,
obviously Prison is pretty attractive city, and yeah, looking forward
to to another opportunity.
Speaker 5 (25:31):
Now, Sam, I know said you're a package deal too,
because former JJ's playing now Isaac White is heading to
the Bullets as well.
Speaker 10 (25:41):
Yeah, absolutely, yes, I saw that as well. Super pumped
for him. You know. I think he's a really good dude,
the first and foremost and obviously a start on the
court and worked super hard. He's got the right attitude,
and I think the Brisbane Bullets have done a great
thing by picking him up and to have a two
(26:01):
year deal for him. He's worked really hard for it
and he deserves it.
Speaker 6 (26:05):
And yeah, now we wish you all the best.
Speaker 5 (26:08):
We've loved your time at JJ, Sam, But what about tonight,
because I know you love the hohbout Chargers and you'll
be running up against the big grudge game against the thunder.
This will be huge tonight.
Speaker 10 (26:20):
Yeah, absolutely, I'm looking forward to it. Got up to
the north west coast. I'm in Bernie at the moment.
I traveled up yesterday to see my partner's family. They
live up here, so got up here at night early.
It'd be nice and rested tonight. It would be nice,
and yeah, looking forward to what should be a pretty
good game.
Speaker 5 (26:39):
I think, just be careful, don't walk around the streets there.
They might throw stones at you and all sorts of stuff.
Sand they like the Southerners in town out there. But well,
how about the injuries though, how are you feeling? You
mentioned those injuries you had during the season. Are you're
back to full fitness?
Speaker 6 (26:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (26:57):
Absolutely, in really good check down. You know, the last
lot of months of the month or six weeks of
the NBL season, I was ready to go if needed,
and I was continually just working on my buddy and
getting myself in shape. And now obviously I've had another
six weeks or two months or whatever it's been since
the season's ended, and yeah, I've just been once again
(27:18):
working and had a few weeks off there just to
kind of decompressed and give my mind the rest but
since then, I've been getting back in shape and I'll
be definitely ready to go tonight.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
What about tonight, Sammy, Obviously the thunder have got a
pretty good lineup. They lost their import actually, Montavious Murphy
during the week.
Speaker 6 (27:34):
And meeting expectations.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
Well, yeah, exactly, so he's that means it would be
pretty small tonight, but they've got some good players obviously,
Try Armstrong's back from the States, Thanky Joyce basketball journey
and players for them. Joe Chilcott's there, so there won't
be an easy matchup, saying, but your side's pretty red
hot so obviously won the championship last year. A lot
of those players back. Jared Bearsta of course is jb
soning up tonight. He was recovered from injury, wasn't he.
Speaker 10 (27:58):
Yeah, I don't think he'll be shouting up to that.
I think he actually went up to prison just to
catch up with some of his family as well, So
I don't think he'll be there tonight and possibly not
next game as well. I don't quote beyond that, but yeah,
it'll be great to have him obviously, whenever he is ready.
And yeah, like you said, I think we've still got
(28:18):
the pieces on this team to get the job done.
Obviously Big Ali, who hopefully have a few highlight players tonight,
and obviously our new import as well. Devin is looking
pretty good at the practice court as well. So I
think we'll be all right tonight.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
Before we let you go, mate, just one more on
the jack Jumpers. I guess you had two years here.
You scored the first points for the franchise at my
state banker any you are the first player signed, so
no doubt you'll leave with some pretty fond memories of
a pretty incredible ride.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
So making the Grand Final Series in year one.
Speaker 10 (28:51):
Yeah, absolutely, you know. Can can't express enough how grateful
I am to you know, not only the Jack Jumpers organization,
but all the people who have tasmine, all the fans.
You know, wherever I go, I get nothing but love
and compliments. And it's been in an absolute joy to
be here, to be, like you say, the first time
player and score the first point and just be a
(29:12):
part of that journey, that right of the two years
of you know, both having winning seasons and making the playoffs,
and I think having a really successful two years. And yeah,
like you said, I'll never forget that, No one can
never take that away from me and it'll always be
loved for me towards Tasmania and.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
Back at your mate, we all always love you to
love watching your work here for the jack Jumpers over
the last couple of years and we can't wait to
watch it for another few months too with the high
about Charges and we look forward to hopefully change to
you again throughout the season in that particular role.
Speaker 4 (29:43):
Were done and.
Speaker 3 (29:43):
Signing with the Boughts, Mat and thanks very much for
joining us on the water Boys this morning.
Speaker 10 (29:47):
Yeah, no worries, Thanks for having me, guys.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
Sam McDaniel superstar absolutely start class act. Yes, absolutely and
well absolutely no. I can't wait saying back here that
maker ready. But as I said, we'll see a lot
of them during the winter time with Charges Charges big
games not Tornadoes and the women's team for the Hoobat
Charges on before too, so big night of basketball pump
(30:09):
in Olveleston to I can't wait for it, can't wait
for the rest of the show as well. After this
we're going to chat footy with Tasmania the Devil's coach
Jeremy Webbly. That's next here on the water Boys. Right
across Tasmania. Thanks to tas Mack your local Commuta dealer.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
This is the water Boys.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
Thanks for tas back your local Commuta dealer.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
It's the water Boys with Brent Costello and Blair Brownless.
This is no April Fools joke, Blarry, We've actually got
Jeremy Webley on the show.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
Someone would think it's a prank that we've gone.
Speaker 6 (30:37):
Well, we don't think it's a prank.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
Well, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (30:39):
I'll probably get a better guess. I guess, but now
that's real. He's on the line, Jess, welcome to the show.
Speaker 5 (30:45):
Whack whack jezz Yeah, what an.
Speaker 12 (30:50):
Thanks for having me. It's good to be finally on it. Brent,
finally covering some footy would be fantastic instead of the
jack job.
Speaker 4 (30:59):
Nice nice good come back and nice come back.
Speaker 13 (31:01):
Hey.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
Game Mate's season launched today for the Coach League. Is
it's now known that the men's or the boys competition?
You must be looking forward to attacking on the Western
Jets as southter down.
Speaker 12 (31:11):
Yeah. Absolutely, Look it's beIN. You know everyone says it's
been a very long preseason and you know it's been
the same for us. The boys have been ready to
go for two or three weeks now, had some really
good practice matches the Kingston Tigers and obviously north On
Teston last week. So yeah, the boys are raring to go,
and yeah, coat wait for the first bounds.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
But such a successful season for you guys last year,
how's things going to look this year? You've got some
players from that team coming over and playing as overrageous
have you and how do you expect to go?
Speaker 12 (31:43):
Yeah, look, it's an interesting question, especially with the three regions.
Like you know, I think we've got some outstanding talent.
It's about piecing it to deck together and getting them
to play for each other. So yeah, we've really liked
what we've saying in the last two weeks with our
practice matches. But until the real stuff starts, you never
really know where you get going to fall. Yeah, there's
a couple of guys that are really impressed. Obviously, Carlwyn
(32:03):
Kirch or Jack Callen are both part of the National
Academy and you know they've had outstanding pre seasons already,
Excited about those boys this year. Some nine year olds
coming back, Keith Ellington and Mitch Nicholas, two nine one
year olds of players with us last year it had
outstanding pre seasons also, so there's probably four names to
keep an eye out for.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Jason.
Speaker 5 (32:24):
What's the criteria for a neighbor age player to continue
on in the Devil's Program.
Speaker 12 (32:31):
Oh, probably there's there's probably a range of things. The
first one is they've got to have a little bit
of IFL interest and you've got to be able to
sell how they can develop as a player, so generally
looking at developing tools, or maybe a boy that's got
a really late date of birth to come back into
the program. So there's probably a number of factors that
go into or you have to write a submission down.
Speaker 10 (32:53):
It gets reviewed at.
Speaker 12 (32:53):
The end of May. So some players, you know, they
get the full clearance. Say, look at a developing call.
You know that my playing the ruck a bit of
key players forward, he might he might get an exemption
for the whole year. But some other players, maybe inside
mid you know, just playing a different position or had
an outstanding year the year previous, he might only get
an exemption. Tom to sort of put his trace on
(33:15):
show and show his improvement. So yeah, there's probably a
range of things. For the first one is we've got
to think that they have some artful actricbut then the
leagus got I think that as well.
Speaker 5 (33:24):
Yeah, fair enough, And just want to talk to you
about the turnover players. Obviously you have players exiting the
program and new players coming in each year.
Speaker 6 (33:34):
How the whole pathway works.
Speaker 5 (33:36):
You keep close eye on the sixteen boys coming up,
and you're always trying to get you a game or
two into the younger players and just managing that whole
turnover players. It's so constant, isn't it in the program?
Speaker 12 (33:50):
Yeah, absolutely, it's a really good point. So obviously we've
got the three talent managers in each region there they're
going out, you know, we can work out and training
identifying talent coming through and that starts it early is
under twelve for by some boys and girls. And then
I'm lucky to have Jamie Haywood on the Northwest. It's
in charge of our stayed under sixteen is in then
outstanding job last year. They actually wonder to dive two
(34:12):
championship last year, so they had a really good campaign
and you know all the stuff that he teaches and
exactly what you know, how we're trying to play as well.
So generally the guys come to by the time they
get to me, as you know, seven eight year olds,
they're really developing sort of their game understanding. So that's
that's sort of the process of it. This year. Also,
we're lucky enough. Look we've got eleven under seven eight
(34:33):
year olds in today, which is really exciting. Look we've
got a bit of a younger group this year. As
I said before, I stayed under sixteen extremely successful last year.
You know, we're really excited about giving out a lot
of those boys and opportunities today.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
Jeremy Revelly, the coach of the Coach League Boys teams,
I guess on the water Boys this morning, Jez, you've
got the boys is your full focus this year. You've
we've got Jennie Clifford on board looking after the girls.
You still got your your fingerprints on that program as well,
in some way, shape or form.
Speaker 12 (35:03):
Yeah. Look, I'll still take the Southern Girls for their
training sessions and those types of things still across you know,
selection of the team and how they're looking at play
and all those types of things. So I have still
got you know, some involvement is that, but come down
and game day and throughout the week, it's the Joey ship,
so she's doing outstanding a job one from one. They
played extremely well last week, so yeah, really excited about
(35:27):
you know, them going out today representing the jump in
right one and getting another win. But so far it's
playing smooth sailing for the girls.
Speaker 5 (35:35):
It has I mean a double headed two and double park,
isn't it three point thirty at Penguin for the girls
game and then you guys come on at five point
forty five, So terrific afternoon the footy there in Penguin.
And you did mention a couple of players there, and
we always like to think we know about Jack Callanan
and we know about Colby mckircheer on the IFL radar.
(35:58):
Do you think who are could bob up there? Because
both of those boys, you're in the academy squad as well.
Speaker 12 (36:07):
Yeah, look, we've we have a couple of players that
played some games last year that kicked on a little
bit as well. So Oscar van Zan or Thorn test product,
he played the back end of all started last year,
in the back end of last year. You know, he's
had an outstanding preseason as well. He's he's a real
got that real athletic profile, and you know il prototypics.
(36:27):
You want record in terms of his height and running power.
So we're really excited about what he's going to offer.
And there's another boy that played in lawn sestance to
our premiership last year. James Leaku has come across and
engaged with the Devils this year. We're really excited about
him as a as a top Asian as well, eighten
year old. Both boys playing the back half of the ground.
(36:48):
As I said before, both boys have got really fantastic
athletic profiles and you know, good defenders, but also I
can give us some offensive run and carry. So there'd
probably another two to.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
Have a look at now, Jesse boy.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
Mid last week, we're all all sorts of big names
in Tasi sports were invited down to a new establishment
on Salamanca Place called the Pavilion, which is owned by
Larry Brown this year or part owned.
Speaker 4 (37:13):
I look around. I saw Brett gaping, and I saw
Jordan's silk, and I saw Matt Wade.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
I saw all these big names. I didn't see you
there lurking around. Anyway, You get an invite down to
the Pavilion.
Speaker 6 (37:28):
And didn't even reply. I did not even reply.
Speaker 11 (37:31):
Yeah, unlike you.
Speaker 12 (37:33):
I like you too. I didn't have to. I don't
want to have to compete with all the personalities on
the opening.
Speaker 5 (37:50):
Miss that's it exactly that we don't want to see
the players in there.
Speaker 6 (37:54):
Just your good self.
Speaker 4 (37:56):
Yes they're a bit young.
Speaker 3 (37:58):
Absolutely, Jess takes to your time, good luck this afternoon
for your devils and we'll talk to you during the season.
Speaker 4 (38:05):
There he goes Jeremy Webley, the coach of the Coach Lee.
Speaker 3 (38:08):
It's going to take some getting used to the Coach
League and that league sometime, wasn't it.
Speaker 6 (38:12):
It is exciting, isn't it?
Speaker 5 (38:15):
Looking boys and girls programs, It's going to be exciting
year ahead.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
It is big day coming up at dol Parking. Peing
will get along if you can if you're up there
on the coach big show head this morning after New
Sporting Weather, we're coming back and looking at the AFL
game in long set and this afternoon we're going to
prevay it with Adrian Hickmott of Hawthorne and Lee Adams
from North Melbourne. Also raiser Rob Wilkinson will join us
and we wind up with our good Sport Award and
check in about how the Hobart Airport Marathon is going
(38:40):
to run tomorrow. That's all coming up for you. In
our two of the water Boys after New Sporting Web.
Speaker 2 (38:45):
This is the water Boys.
Speaker 4 (38:49):
Really nice first out of the show.
Speaker 3 (38:50):
We've got more to come now though in extra time
here on the water Boys. Not too far away is
Adrian Hickmott from the Hawthorne for the club Lee Adams
from the North Be Football Club raiser Rob Wilkinson who's
entering the cage for the Professional Fighters League tomorrow morning,
and wind up the show with our Good Sport Award
and also chat to Todd Skipworth about tomorrow's Hobart Airport Marathon.
(39:13):
We'll look at the Grand Prix coming up as well
with Blarry. Some overnight scores and it was the Mrighty
Pies three and none at the MCG.
Speaker 5 (39:21):
Yeah, eighty five thousand at MCG hot Pies fourteen point
winners over a gallant Tigers lay, scoring affairs sixty three
to forty nine. And on Thursday night the Dogs are back.
Yes I needed that win, didn't they brand in points
win there over the lines fifty three who were a
little bit disappointing.
Speaker 4 (39:41):
Yeah they were. Indeed, let's go to the A League.
Last night Adelaide United three Western Sydney two. Big result
there for United and NRL was a she.
Speaker 5 (39:49):
Lackey on Friday night fizza. This one Panthers fifty three
is a very good team. Camber Raiders only twelve. And
then in the other game Storm our team Melbourn's on
love the Storm eighteen, rabbit os on on teen.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
Very nice.
Speaker 3 (40:04):
As I said, big second hour of the show coming
up up next, So we're talking footy with the Hawthorne
footy clubs Adrian Hickmott. That's next year on the water
Boys right across tas Mony thanks to tas Back your
local Commota dealer.
Speaker 2 (40:15):
This here's the water Boys.
Speaker 3 (40:19):
Thanks to tas Back your local Massey Ferguson Diller. It
is the water Boys with Brent Costello and Blair Brownless
this morning. Big game coming up at u TAZ Stadium
the statter in one five.
Speaker 4 (40:35):
It is Hawthorne and North Melbourne in the Clarko Cup.
Speaker 3 (40:38):
We're looking forward to Alistair Clarkson, of course coaching against
his former club for the first time. And one man
that is on the other side of the coin today
to Clarko is Hawthorne assistant coach Adrian Hickmott, who joins
us on the water Boys this morning. Adrian, thanks for
your time. Good Yeah, going well mate. Much been spoken
about clark O and the bled up to this game.
Speaker 14 (40:59):
Or not not internally, No, no, we're about you just
getting ourselves to be the best we can and show
good e f on the game day. So you know
last week was a challenge. We missed a few opportunities
early and then Sydney you know, been a premiership contender,
really went away at the game. So yeah, we've been
(41:20):
training hard all through the week and having a few
meetings to realign ourselves and make sure that we give
good effort on the day.
Speaker 3 (41:26):
Where do you see ourselves out this year? Obviously everyone
knows the turnover you've had with players. You're a young team,
but do you expect better results than what we saw
last weekend against Sydney?
Speaker 14 (41:36):
Yeah we do, Yeah, yeah, no doubt. So you're right.
We're working on our on the way we want to
play at training and you know we trained as expected
and we want to train the way we play, so
younger boys have to understand that and now we just
got to refine ourselves each week that we go out
(41:57):
there against whoever team it is and give our best
and hopefully walk off the ground where our supporters and members, well,
they really gave a good effort today. Good on them.
So that's what we're after with the team.
Speaker 5 (42:10):
I think they all your supporters are looking for a
response there today, are doing because fifty nine points against
Essen and then eighty one point loss against Sydney. I
think they're looking for a response. But you you're in
a place where you love a Utah Stadium and loncest
and then this of course is a tazzy cup really
of course with North Melbourne playing their games in Hobart,
so there's a lot of interest in this one and
(42:32):
we expect a really big showing from the Hawks.
Speaker 10 (42:35):
Yeah that's right.
Speaker 14 (42:36):
Yeah, we need to respond. We need to play good,
strong football. And you're right, it's long sense. It's a
beautiful ground and beautiful area and you know we love
coming down here and playing excuse me, so yeah, giving
our best and playing good football, playing.
Speaker 11 (42:54):
Good quality football, good tough football for.
Speaker 14 (42:57):
Our members and for ourselves to come up a train
or i should say, the ground on the fat come
off the ground and know that we've had a good shown, good.
Speaker 6 (43:05):
Effort well one for five game.
Speaker 5 (43:08):
I'm tipping in big crowd for this one because all
Raids will lead from Hobart, all the North Melbourne supporters
and we know there's a big supporter base in the
north of state for the Hawks, so it's going to
be fantastic because there's no local footy really, it's just
about to kickstart actually your local games, so we expect
a big crowd. And who's a couple of young Hawks
players that really caught your I am a doing over
(43:30):
the first couple of weeks.
Speaker 14 (43:32):
Yeah, well throughout the pre season and over the first
couple of weeks. Young Cam McKenzie's shown is that he's
got in composions of footy. You know, it comes out
of the midfield really composed, and you know the way
he goes about his training is really impressive. So especially
for his first year, in his third game doing a
good job. Even young young Will Day running through the
(43:55):
middle of the ground shows good poise as well. Josh
Award and Connor McDonald's so they're probably a couple of players,
but that's showing improvement every week they go out.
Speaker 3 (44:08):
I want to ask you about Jack Scrimshaw, Adrian left
out of the side for the first couple of games,
gets his chance today.
Speaker 4 (44:14):
What was his issue not getting into the team for
round one.
Speaker 14 (44:18):
Over the precess its form? Jack Jack wasn't playing to
the way that we I think he can play to
and guys were in front of him at that time.
And he's been playing exceptionally well in the VFL over
the last two weeks shown that, you know, he is
AFL ready to go. So he's got his opportunity this
(44:40):
week and we really look forward to it, you know,
coming in good form, and that's how you like to
pick the players, showing good form in the NFL and
then producing at an.
Speaker 4 (44:48):
AFL, absolutely spending a good form.
Speaker 3 (44:50):
You're up against one this afternoon in Harry Sheesel of
course for North Melbourne.
Speaker 6 (44:55):
Tagg him.
Speaker 3 (44:56):
He's been in unbelievable Nick the first two rounds with
his first two game of his career.
Speaker 4 (45:01):
What do you do with him this afternoon?
Speaker 14 (45:03):
Yeah, well, well we're going to the game of the plan.
But he's been playing sexually good football, you know, the
whole really North Melbourne's midfielder a tough and strong inside
there and their forwards and backs definitely work hard. So
you know, so's the challenge for us and we'll work.
We'll work through those with your closest to the game.
(45:24):
But that should be a good chance for our midfield
as well and our half forwards to to help help
get scores on the board. Really, that's all we want,
don't we.
Speaker 5 (45:34):
Exactly Right now, what's your role on the day are
you doing nextly?
Speaker 14 (45:38):
Yes, I'm up in the up in the box and
looking at a contestable and team defense and working with
the coaches up there.
Speaker 6 (45:46):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 5 (45:47):
Now, I just want to take you back because you
are a Geelong star back in the day and you
played yes West Coast as well, you do the Carlton
as well, But I want to talk about your gee
long career because you played in that magnum Us in
ninety five Grand Final cut. We're a bit too good then.
You played with some stars back then, that's right.
Speaker 14 (46:06):
Yeah, that's that's a long time ago, don't you. Yeah,
but there's good times back then. You know, we played
in at ninety five and the next year I went
to Carden after that. Yeah that was strange in itself,
but now all great times. You mentioned Billy Browns far
and the guys. They're all good good fellas and it's
(46:26):
the thing about when you play football and playing teams
just stay good friends for a long time.
Speaker 3 (46:30):
So yeah, absolutely, well mate, I really appreciate your time
this morning, particularly on game day. Good luck this south
tonoon obviously it can be exciting to see both two
young teams going.
Speaker 4 (46:41):
Head to head and we're sure the very best for
a great result.
Speaker 14 (46:44):
Yeah, we'll be good on you guys.
Speaker 3 (46:46):
Thanks for the chat, Adrian Hickmont. They're joining us song on
that the water Boys should be a crack of Larry.
Speaker 5 (46:52):
As well, so and North Melbourne and super haven't they
In the first couple of weeks Clark has got them
up and about so looking forward to this one.
Speaker 3 (46:59):
And Clark I just putting himself on the different flight
to everybody else getting out of.
Speaker 6 (47:04):
It was probably a smart flight.
Speaker 4 (47:07):
I think it's a pretty wise move to be fair.
Speaker 3 (47:10):
Anyway, we're gonna get on the other side of the
coin next because Lee Adams.
Speaker 5 (47:13):
Do you do you reckon? He needed extra leg room
Clark in the flight and.
Speaker 6 (47:18):
He didn't get it, so he.
Speaker 3 (47:19):
Went, no, I don't play. I think you just didn't
want to get with all the other paper. Yeah, nothing
to do with the leg room. Yes, Adams will join
us next here on the water Boys.
Speaker 4 (47:32):
Thanks to tas back your local Commuta dealer.
Speaker 3 (47:35):
This's the water Boys, thanks to tas Back your local
Commuta dealer.
Speaker 4 (47:40):
It's the water Boys with Brent Costello and Blair Brown.
Speaker 2 (47:45):
Seeing it at all chorus.
Speaker 3 (47:51):
We just spoke to Adrian Hickott, got Hawthorne's side of
the coin. Now we're going to get North Melbourne's build
up to today's big game at UTAZ Stadium. And joining
us on the line now is assistant coach Lee Adams.
Speaker 4 (48:02):
Welcome to the water Boys, Lea. Are you pumped for
this afternoon?
Speaker 6 (48:05):
Mate?
Speaker 11 (48:07):
Yeah? Put the weather on for us down here. We're
looking forward to it, to getting out there today and
hopefully but.
Speaker 4 (48:12):
Not a show, absolutely mate.
Speaker 3 (48:14):
Lots of like about this game, as we just said
to Adrian, two young teams going head to head and
the way you guys have started the season two and nine,
a thrilling win last week, a great win against the
Eagles in round one.
Speaker 4 (48:25):
You must be absolutely pumped just to get out there today.
Speaker 15 (48:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (48:29):
We we're pretty excited. It's been one of those starts
a year where we probably could quite easily be zero
and two, but luckily we've been on the right side
of a couple of close results and today I give
us another opportunity to hopefully, hopefully go three and oh.
But yeah, we've obviously got a big challenge in front
of us with the Hawks, but yeah, looking forward to it.
Speaker 3 (48:50):
In your world of streams, did you ever think you
could be three and zip to start the season?
Speaker 11 (48:56):
Yeah, I see towards the end of last year it
would be possible. But since Clark has come into positivity
and the change around the place has been amazing, and
he hasn't really capped on what we could and couldn't do,
And yeah, we've just sort of been able to ride
a little bit of be hind the last couple of
weeks and and get away with a couple of wins.
(49:17):
So yeah, I wouldn't have thought that. But in saying that,
we did sort of think that with the draw we had,
we might be able to start well at the start
of the year and swift out that way so far.
Speaker 5 (49:28):
Now, we don't understate your role in all this because
you were interim coach last year, so you took over
from David Noble and so you passed on a lot
of intel to Clarko and now you've taken out of
the forwards and they're on fire with the two wins.
You've got Nick Larky and all the forward line firing.
So and all, I'm just saying, it all comes down
to you and your role.
Speaker 11 (49:50):
Yeah, it's about time. I'm going to be a credit
for that. It was a great experience last year's take over,
the last six weeks, and we didn't had a lot
of winds when I took over, but it was it
was a great It was a great time and I'm
loving going back to an assistant role, particularly under clark
oh and just learning off him. Obviously we know how
(50:11):
great his coaching record has been and the way he's
been able to turn our footy club around him in
the four or five six months that he's been here
is Yeah, he's amazing.
Speaker 6 (50:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (50:21):
What was it like when he first walked through the
door and the initial meetings and that there would have
been a real buzz And you know he has that presence,
hasn't he when he walks in the room that you
just want to soak up and just learn everything he
possibly can from the.
Speaker 1 (50:35):
Great man Yeah, he's got a as we all know,
he's got a fantastic footy brain and a presence about
him as he said, But probably the one thing that
struck me he's just down to earth and a good person,
good bloke he is.
Speaker 4 (50:49):
Really.
Speaker 11 (50:50):
I was sort of a little bit nervous, probably like
most boats that he come in, and probably heard about
his reputation that he can get a little bit angry
at times, and we thought that he was cooking in
for a little here. But his ability to empower his
staff and empowered to player and teach the players the
way he wants to play and then let them just
go out and play has been unbelievable. And we're turing
(51:11):
out at the moment, so we haven't had a famous
clark O spray and hopefully it stay that way for
a little bit longer.
Speaker 5 (51:16):
Exactly are you going beautifully? But the great interest in
this game, as you know, because all the North Melbourne
supporters will be heading out from Hobart and you know
that Loncessen's a stronghold for Hawthorne, so tremendous interest in this.
And we're saying before that not a lot of local
footy on so we're expecting big crowd there at Utah Stadium,
but which will be great. But you must be looking
(51:39):
forward to come back to Bluntson Arena because that's been
a fortress for you guys as well here in Hobart.
Speaker 11 (51:45):
Yeah, yeah, you're right, hasn't It's been actually a while
since a couple of years since we've actually played up
in one sesson as the chamber has been used obviously
at Blunstone. And yeah, probably will be outnumbered as the
supporters today I would have thought, but we actually do
love playing up here as well. But yeah, we'll be
wrapped when we do get down there might be around
(52:06):
nine from the background to Bonstone, and you're right, we
have played really good footy there particular out to just
suit us being a little bit smaller contested team.
Speaker 10 (52:15):
We are.
Speaker 11 (52:16):
Hopefully we can join up here today and then come
back down to the Bondstone.
Speaker 3 (52:21):
And what about eight and zero by then hopefully Absolutely.
Love Adams is our guest, the North Fountain assistant coach
on the water Boys this morning.
Speaker 4 (52:29):
You've been in footy for a long time now, Harry.
Speaker 3 (52:32):
She'sl how's he compared to some of the young guns
you've seen come through the club plays.
Speaker 11 (52:38):
Yeah, he's completely different to probably anything I've seen. She's
We've had a few players in the past. I think
Tom Power had quite a good first year. I remember
back to when I was playing Ryan Bason because I
would have a really big impact on this game when
he first came into it. But they were more sort
of inside midfielders had already had probably AFL bodies for
these kids to come in. He did a full pre
(53:01):
season training is a small forward, that's what we drafted
him as, and then probably a week or two to
go before the season started, we realized that we probably
need a little bit more put skills out of our
back half, so we've put him down there. And then
you're seeing first two. If he's had thirty four and
thirty possessions and he had a level head, I'm funny
(53:22):
him to just take it all in a humble kids
composer under pressure is probably.
Speaker 10 (53:29):
Nothing I've ever seen before.
Speaker 11 (53:31):
Yeah, there's some pretty big wraps on him early on,
and what I can see with him is the habit
he put in place and the head he's got on
his shoulders. Nothingly one of those players that jumps onto
the seat and then sort of.
Speaker 10 (53:43):
Pizza set it away. He looks like it's going to
be a good player for a long time for us.
Speaker 3 (53:48):
Absolutely, just back onto your and coaching, mate, what is
your long term goal I suppose with your coaching And
how difficult is it when you get a taste of
saying you're coaching, having to go back when you probably
know you're capable of doing the top job but on
your own.
Speaker 11 (54:02):
Yeah, look, probably after having those six weeks on it's
something that I would like to shoe in the future
to go into senior coaching. But it also did teach
me those who have a fair bit more to learn,
you know. I think the tactical side of the game
is quite I'm quite comfortable with. But I think it's
probably just that understanding of how much much extra commitment
(54:22):
you have when you've got a list management. There's Coderie
Groups is running a whole club basically, where I'm not
at that stage yet where I'll be comfortable enough to
do that. So I'm going to take the opportunity for
the next however long under Clark go to try and
learn as much as I can, hopefully in the future
if the position does come up and I'm lucky enough
(54:44):
to be able to go to that job that I've
got a really good branding number, in my opinion, the
best coach and I probably thirty or.
Speaker 6 (54:52):
Forty years now.
Speaker 5 (54:54):
I just want to take you back to your Devil's
days because you in your playing career, you at North
Melbourne and when you didn't get picked in the senior team,
you played for the Tazzy Devils. With that alignment, you
must have some fond memories of your time here playing
in Tasmania.
Speaker 10 (55:10):
I did.
Speaker 11 (55:11):
Yeah, it was a really interesting linement obviously with all
the other clubs not being in a state for us
to know the first year player. We'd fly down on
a Friday night on the plane all excited and come
down and get to play, you know, on some really
good decks down here. Obviously played most footy at Bunstone
and a little bit up here at your days. But yeah,
(55:32):
I've made some really good friendships down here from people
that I played with. I would have been fifteen years
ago now, Yeah, I love the experience. Didn't get a
lot of on field success, unfortunately we're pretty young at
the time, but yeah, it was a great it was
a great serence. Maybe grow up fairly quicker having a
jump on a plane every second week to come down here.
Speaker 4 (55:53):
Where's your alice to Lynch medal those days?
Speaker 11 (55:56):
Yeah, my folks house actually cool.
Speaker 3 (56:01):
Very nice mate, Well done, Thanks very much for joining
us on the show this morning. Good luck to your
kangaroos the Stuf and I'm looking forward to a big
game at Utah Stadium. Appreciate your time on game day.
Speaker 4 (56:11):
Thanks having on your lately.
Speaker 3 (56:13):
Adam's the North Beldin assistant coach looks after the Fords
and on fire.
Speaker 6 (56:18):
Lucky and Crewe. Yeah. I like it because they're far.
Speaker 5 (56:21):
More attacking this year in North Melbourne and they're trying
to hit the scoreboard, which is great. Any team like
that playing taking footy, you've got.
Speaker 3 (56:28):
To love absolutely a big game one forty five bounce
at Utah Stadium the stuff and we can't wait for it.
Can't wait for this as well because up next to Razor,
Rob Wilkinson joins ashead of his big fight tomorrow in
Las Vegas.
Speaker 4 (56:41):
Can't wait for it.
Speaker 3 (56:41):
That is next for you on the water Boys right
across Tasmania. Thanks to tas Back your local combuta.
Speaker 2 (56:46):
Dealer is the water Boys.
Speaker 3 (56:50):
Thanks the tas Back your local Commuta dealer. It is
the water Boys with Brent Costello and Blair Brownless. We're
switching our focus dow to mixed martial arts because this
man had a million dollar payday last year when he
won the Professional Fighters League at Madison Square Garden in
New York City. I speak, of course, of raiser Rob Wilkinson,
who re enters the cage tomorrow morning for his twenty
(57:14):
twenty three campaign, and Rob has been good enough to
join us on the water Boys raiser. Good morning to you.
First of all, mate, tell us about your opponent and
who you're fighting tomorrow morning.
Speaker 16 (57:23):
Fighting Thiago Santos. So he just got signed coming over
from the UFC. Really big name. He's fought pretty much
in the top five of the UFC at light heavyweight
for the last probably four years. Had a really close
fight with John Jones back in the day, which he
lost for the UFC title. So just a big name
and one of the top ten guys in the world.
(57:44):
So someone I'm looking forward to fighting to try and
help get my name to kind of up into that level.
Speaker 4 (57:50):
Fantastic stuff.
Speaker 3 (57:51):
Now, do you feel that there's a lot more pressure
on you coming into this campaign? In twenty twenty three
because last year, I guess a lot of people wouldn't
have known who you were.
Speaker 15 (57:59):
Yeah, I definitely feel bit more pressure. Obviously.
Speaker 16 (58:01):
Last year, no one kind of really knew who I
was coming into the tournament and and you know, I
just came through and obviously won it. But this year,
you know, I've kind of got the target on my back,
so everyone will be looking to kind of take me out.
So that kind of excites me. And yeah, yeah, it's
a good fight. I'm excited for the first round.
Speaker 4 (58:19):
Obviously, had such a successful campaign last year.
Speaker 3 (58:22):
So have you changed anything up coming into this first
fight of the new season.
Speaker 15 (58:26):
Not really, Everything's pretty much the same. You know.
Speaker 16 (58:29):
I came back to Denver to do my training camp
eight weeks ago, and yeah, like I did everything well
last year and trying to just keep that momentum rolling
into this year and keep improving on my skills and
my performances in the cage.
Speaker 3 (58:43):
As I said off the top, a million dollar payday
for you last year?
Speaker 4 (58:47):
Was that the same prize on the line again?
Speaker 16 (58:49):
Yeah, me and dollars at the end of the year
for the for the final and then I've obviously since
I won it last year. My purse has gone up
a little bit per fight leading into that into that
final raiser.
Speaker 3 (59:01):
Rob Wilkinson is our special guest on the water Boys
this morning, Rob, But what's the fight card look lock
for you after this first one? Is that a lot
of the same fighters as you fought last year?
Speaker 15 (59:12):
There's quite a few new fighters? I think sure.
Speaker 16 (59:15):
I think there's only a couple who were actually in
it from last year. I know a couple got injured.
A Mari who I thought in the final was meant
to be in it, but he he had knee surgery recently.
So I think there's probably maybe out of the ten,
maybe six or seven new fighters.
Speaker 3 (59:31):
And what's your long term plan for the sport? We
know you've competed at UFC level before. Is your aim
to get back to there?
Speaker 16 (59:38):
With my contract, I'll be with the PFL probably for
at least two more years, which I'm happy with. A
really like their structure of everything, and obviously the pay
is very nice and they look after us well.
Speaker 15 (59:54):
But yeah, I'm not sure what the future will hold.
Speaker 16 (59:55):
I would obviously I've had two losses in the USC,
so just from that standpoint and I'd like to kind
of get those losses back in the sense of actually
winning some fights in the US as well.
Speaker 15 (01:00:05):
But at the moment very happy with the PFL.
Speaker 3 (01:00:08):
What happens after this fight tomorrow, Rob, do you get
to come home for a little break or do you
stay in the US ready for your next fight.
Speaker 16 (01:00:15):
I'll be staying over there. It's only nine weeks to part.
I think it's June seventh or eighth is the next fight,
so I'll have a week off and over here then
and then straight back into training camp for the next one.
Speaker 3 (01:00:30):
And as you said, you've been back in the United
States for a couple of months now. But how was
that little period after last year when you return home
to Tasmania and you got to spend a couple of
months back home. It must have been really nice just
to recharge the batteries for some AhR and R.
Speaker 16 (01:00:43):
Was so good to be back in Hobart, and especially
over summer, you know, that's the best time to be
there and see everyone. It did seem to go very
quickly though. I was only there maybe eight weeks before
I had to fly back to Edinburgh to start my
training camp for this fight.
Speaker 15 (01:00:58):
But yeah, it was lovely to say.
Speaker 3 (01:01:00):
Everyone absolutely mate, there would be no doubt about that.
Now before I let you go in a nutshell, everything
is looking absolutely spot on for the fight tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (01:01:08):
Then.
Speaker 16 (01:01:08):
Yeah, training was good last couple of weeks. You know,
you always want to peak leading into it, and I
felt really sharper. Probably my last three sparring sessions felt
really good. Waits coming off nicely. I've got two more
days until weigh just under forty eight hours now, so
you know, getting a little bit hungry, but looking forward
to making wait and then and then I can enjoy
(01:01:30):
some food and enjoy myself on Saturday night.
Speaker 3 (01:01:33):
Outstanding stuff well raiser, Rob Wilkinson, all of Tasboni's behind you, mate.
Speaker 4 (01:01:37):
We can't wait to watch you fight tomorrow morning.
Speaker 3 (01:01:39):
Tasbony and Time all the very best and we look
forward to talking to you in the lead up to
your next spot.
Speaker 4 (01:01:43):
Thanks for joining us on the water Boys.
Speaker 9 (01:01:45):
That's all good.
Speaker 2 (01:01:46):
Rank, here's the water Boys.
Speaker 3 (01:01:49):
Thanks for Taz back. You're local Kabata dealer. It's the
water Boys with Brent Costelo and Blair Brownland.
Speaker 2 (01:01:54):
He's been doing the hard yards this week thanks to McDonald's.
It's time to announce the next winner of the water
Boys Good Sport War.
Speaker 3 (01:02:00):
Yeah, we love this segment where we get to give
away one hundred dollars to spend it into sport thanks
to McDonald's pick up forty chicken, McNuggets and Tangy Cajun
sauce at macas drive through today.
Speaker 4 (01:02:09):
Select itands available for a limited time. Larry, who's our
winter this week?
Speaker 6 (01:02:13):
Please?
Speaker 5 (01:02:14):
You won't believe this, Brene. We've got him live on
the phone. It's young Max Cole, who's eleven years old.
Good morning, Max, good morning, good morning. Great to have
you on board. You're our winner one hundred dollars voucher
to spend Now. The reason you want because in summer
you play cricket and you do athletics. In cricket, what
do you.
Speaker 11 (01:02:33):
Do a wicked keep?
Speaker 5 (01:02:37):
You're a wicked keeper, nice and a batter as well.
Speaker 6 (01:02:40):
Now athletics.
Speaker 5 (01:02:41):
What's your best events in athletics? Wow? But three one three,
he's a start this one. So that's summer Brendo and
then in winter he rolls over water polo on Friday night.
That's hey, Actually, Max, I know you're a little fiery competitor.
(01:03:01):
What happens under the water in the water polo. Is
it a bit of bargie bargie, a bit of wrestling?
Speaker 11 (01:03:07):
Yeah, sometimes it can be, but you might could.
Speaker 6 (01:03:10):
I say you wouldn't do that? Max? Would you?
Speaker 8 (01:03:13):
Probably not?
Speaker 5 (01:03:14):
I know you did. So that's Friday night. Then Saturday
you play basketball. Who do you played basketball for?
Speaker 11 (01:03:21):
The Kings and Kings?
Speaker 6 (01:03:22):
What position?
Speaker 5 (01:03:25):
Pointyard, point guard? Kingston King's that what a great club
they have to Oh right, very good? And then footy
on Sunday the Kingbird Tigers. What number are you wearing?
I'm thirteen thirteen and what position.
Speaker 1 (01:03:44):
Too?
Speaker 6 (01:03:45):
He's a miad failure? Of course he is young Max.
Speaker 5 (01:03:47):
And who don't you like? Is there another club that
really don't like Max in the footy?
Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
What is that?
Speaker 10 (01:03:56):
Mainly because I really.
Speaker 4 (01:04:01):
I hope no one's listening from Lord and Dale this early.
Speaker 6 (01:04:04):
Max.
Speaker 3 (01:04:04):
Anyway, you are our winner, mate, Well done, congratulations, one
hundred dollars out you to spend it into sport thanks
to our great partners at McDonald's World. Done mate, And
if you'd like to be like Max and win one
hundred dollars to spend it into sport, head to the
website of the stage you listen to us on it
right now, could be your player, a coach, of volunteer,
anyone doing a wonderful job in the local sporting community.
Speaker 5 (01:04:24):
Hagil was a good sport there. Now Breno, we move
straight over to the Hobart Marathon, which will take place tomorrow.
Todd Skipworth is joined us.
Speaker 6 (01:04:32):
Good morning, Todd, Good morning.
Speaker 4 (01:04:34):
How are you well?
Speaker 6 (01:04:36):
I'm very well.
Speaker 5 (01:04:37):
How are you going to imagine you're very busy because
it's a massive day tomorrow and just having a look
at the course on paper it looks magnificent.
Speaker 13 (01:04:46):
Yeah, yeah, well, yeah, we're pretty excited about it. So
second second running which makes things a little bit easier.
We know what we're doing, or maybe half know what
we're doing.
Speaker 11 (01:04:53):
This year, but still busy and very excited for tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (01:04:57):
Now that's huge. How are you going for entries? And
I know said well the city will be actually pretty
closed off for or what's happening with traffic just for
all our listeners.
Speaker 13 (01:05:07):
Yeah, yeah, entries are going really well. The last couple
of days have been going fantastic and we've got late
entries open from ten am to four pm today down
at Princess Wharf one shed, so come down and check
out the markets and enter one of our races and
have a run tomorrow with everybody.
Speaker 11 (01:05:23):
That'd be great.
Speaker 13 (01:05:25):
In terms of road closes tomorrow, we've tried to minimize
impact as much as possible. We do run out from
Franklin Wharf and up around the Domain, so we have
a lane of the Tasman Highway close and the Domain
closed until eight am, but after eight am everything is
open that side of the city. And then we run
(01:05:46):
through Battery Point and down Sandy Bay Road, but we'll
only be running on the Kingston bound side of Sandy
Bay Road, so runners will be out and back on
the Kingston bound side, which means that if you're coming
into the city on Sandy Bay Road travel as normal.
Speaker 4 (01:06:01):
Very nice.
Speaker 3 (01:06:02):
Now, what about the race favorites for the men's and
women's todd Who do you like?
Speaker 13 (01:06:07):
We've got a cracker field in both actually, so we've
got our inaugural champion. Dion is having a run again,
so he's pretty he's in pretty good form and I
think he'll be hard to beat in the marathon. Millie
Clark's coming down so tazzy local, she's coming down to
run the marathon. She took out our half last year,
but I think she'll be very hard to beat in
(01:06:27):
the women's marathon as well, and Miriam is running that too,
so there's a really good men's down women's field in
both the marathon and then half marathon. We've got Joel
Tobin White coming down who's a red hot favorite in that,
but he'll be going up against our local champion from
last year in nick El, so watch out for the
half marathon as well.
Speaker 4 (01:06:48):
The plenty to be excited about, Todd. Was she all
the best? Mate?
Speaker 3 (01:06:52):
It's a wonderful event for our city and we can't
wait to say it all plays out tomorrow mate, the
second edition of the Hobart Airport Marathon. Thanks for your
time this morning, good luck setting up today and we
look forward to seeing how it all plays.
Speaker 4 (01:07:02):
Out tomorrow mate, Thanks very much.
Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
There he goes Todd Skipworth, who's the race organizer there
for the Hobart Airport Marathon. Can't wait for it. I
can't wait for the Australian Formula One Grand Prix tomorrow too.
Blearyyah huge anyone beat for.
Speaker 4 (01:07:16):
Starping Red Bull.
Speaker 5 (01:07:18):
Red Bull being sensational this year and I'm very much
looking forward. I must've haven't got into it previously. I'm
about to have a really close look at it tomorrow
and enjoy the spectacle.
Speaker 4 (01:07:29):

Carlton and Richmond into our Thursday.
Speaker 5 (01:07:40):
Night into Friday watch them go around. It was amazing
watch them live.
Speaker 3 (01:07:45):
We obviously saw the Grand Prix canceled right before it
started a couple of years ago to COVID.
Speaker 4 (01:07:50):
It's just great to see it back in last night.
Speaker 3 (01:07:53):
I think there was one hundred thousand there just yesterday
at the Gold Prix watching the.
Speaker 5 (01:07:58):
Thirty around albert It's a massive event and it's great.
And what about the young gun from Australia, how will
he go?
Speaker 4 (01:08:05):
Yeah, Osco Piastre hopefully well the same.
Speaker 5 (01:08:09):
If he gets our top ten finish, that would be
a fantastic, magnificent rou would be great results looking forward
that because you've got the supercars as well.
Speaker 4 (01:08:16):
Yeah, you do and then race your points. So there
used to be the exhibition round.
Speaker 3 (01:08:19):
Actually race the points now which is huge day, huge day.

Speaker 6 (01:08:24):

off to Right now, I'm off to the Guilford Young
College Open Day an autograph sessions.
Speaker 4 (01:08:33):

get in form an orderly queue please.

That's it and then there's only one spot to be
if you want to watch sport in.
