Speaker 1 (00:00):
No matter what, the sport, where it's played, all the
teams behind it.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
You got it. This is the.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Water Boys thanks to Tasmac, Devinport, Montston, Bridgewater and Smifton,
your local Koboda dealer.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Good morning everyone, Welcome to the water Boys for another
Saturday of sport. Brincos solo with you as I have
been the last couple of weeks with Offside has just
been rotated out to the reserves and he's back fresh
from gather around in Adelaide. He looks a million dollars flying.
Blair Browns, good morning to you.

Speaker 4 (00:31):
Yes, good morning, brand a little bit flat, had a
massive week gather around. Wow, I can't wait till it
comes to Hobart. I'm not just Hobart. In four years time,
I be magnificent. We'll talk about.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
It later, but it's a very nice few days for
you over there. I've not heard one bad word about it.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
No, I could not speak more highly of Adelaide, Adelaide Oval, magnificent,
taking the gamest the Norwood Adelaide Hills there.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
You would have gone on the Adelaide over that's it.

Speaker 5 (01:02):
Well, No, I just spend my time at Adelaide Oval.
But jeez.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Adelaide live. The whole town was a buzz and it's
amazing what AFL can do for a city and in
this case Adelaide, it was absolutely magnificent the AFL and
the big Pad on the back for taking Dadelaide and
keeping it in that lade. They deserve it.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
I want to talk to you about that too. Oh Jesus,
before we get into what's coming up on the show,
let's go through last night's scores. What is going on
with Fremantle please?

Speaker 4 (01:31):
She whiz jeez? Aren't they on the nose? Look at
the way they were projecting last year and you know
in the finals up there they looked really good and
they looked like a really good year ahead. They have
been futrid, haven't we? The Dogs by forty nine points
last night at home? You know, at home they used
to be very, very tough to beat, but geez at

(01:51):
easy beats this year.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Bro West Astralian footy not the greatest shape of the moment.
We are talking about that a little bit later on
NRL last night was bucketing down, up and down, took.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
The game to Darwin. Then they put the weather on
for him and it was absolutely pouring and the Eel
sixteen to Broncos top of the table. The Broncos on
twenty six. Do you know they've already played eight games
in the NRL. Yeah, I think we need to do
a season.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
We need to look at that. I think we give
him too much of a jump start.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Yes, well, and we did give him Thursday night football.
If you don't mind as well, we'll be in there.
We'll be talking about that absolutely now.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
I was out at the Netball Sports Center last night
for the NBA one our man Anthony Stewart Double Tech
sent out so you later got home.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
He's getting cranky age, he's carrying on, So come on,
stew You've got to be better than that. I'm going
to get him in here and it's lay down some
lord to him and actually try and straighten him up,
because in his old age he is one of the
crankiest people in hober Is.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
And his team unfortunately went down last night by eleven
points to Baller at the Northwest Sunder. They had a
big lost too against Knocks up in Cesston. The Tornadoes
went down as well against Knox as women's team and
good news was the Hobut Lady Chargers got their first
win of the year, so that the pressure A League
last night, so Western Sydney Wanderers have short up almost

(03:14):
a top two spot potentially.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
Yes, with a four nil win over Wellington. So the
season coming to a close there in the A League competition.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Put round of the season. We've got a big show
ahead this morning, looking forward to going over the week
that was with you locally, nationally and internationally.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
Of course, what.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
About this sad do you got the burpies?

Speaker 2 (03:33):
No?

Speaker 4 (03:33):
Good, good, well, this our.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Guest this morning, Luke Calbott, goes very very well. In fact,
she got the world record.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Has you already got the world record?

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Trying to break it as well? So that's happening laughter,
the sporting She's going to join us before she starts,
which is great. Now you've talked this up. You've got
a man on the ground. I'm not sure who it
is over at the.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
Guests mystery guess and now he live. He was yesterday
there for day one live golf thirty over thirty thousand
people there yesterday and again today's huge in Adelaide, and
so we'll talk to a man on the ground.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Look forward to that now one for the Geelong, Nuffi's
lot for you coming up ball and Bundy Christensen at
the lord Dale Footy Club coach. I've got to be
gang Zac Day game coming up on Tuesday. Looking forward
to chatting to Bundy. We'll look at AFL Round six
so far and what's to come. David Hale from Hawthorne
will join us as well, looking forward to that, and
Anthony Drimik, who is the new jack Jumpers recruitable join
us later in the shows.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
We'll also look at.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Some of the games in the round, games of the
round and all the different sports we like to cover
here on the water Boys. That's all coming up for
you over the next couple of hours. Here on the
water Boys, you're right across Tasbury doing it thanks to
our great partners at Tasmac, your local Caboda dealer. This
he's the water Boys thanks to Tasmak, your local Caboda dealer.
It is the water Boys for your Saturday morning. Brentcosts

(04:47):
Hello and Blair Brownless.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Reflecting on sport from the past seven days. Here's the
water Boys week and wise.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
This is w we like to cover off everything happening locally,
nationally and internationally over the past seven days. We mentioned
gather around off the top of the show. You were there.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
That's your problem with it? Brand? Oh, no problem.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
I think it's a fantastic initiative.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
I would have liked to have seen.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
It shared around. Isn't that Wasn't that the idea of
it to start with?

Speaker 4 (05:11):
No, I don't think so. If a state and a
premier puts a proposal to the AFL and they gnadle
it in every sense, you know, taking big games in
Adelaide to Adelaide Hills, like we said to Norwood, everyone
the whole town was a buzz. If they set that
up beautifully as they did in Adelaide and South Australian government,

(05:33):
why wouldn't they be rewarded with going back there again?
And geographically Adelaide is the perfect spot.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Yeah, I agree with that. That makes complote sense because
it's in the middle of everywhere. But look, I don't
really upset about it staying where it is.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
But I just sort of I know what you're upset
because West Coast they're looking up. Your team is sucking
up about an extra travel day.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
I couldn't give a stuff about that. To be brilliant.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
Also, what we're going to win a game exactly.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
But now I just think it'd be a good opportunity.
But but you made a good point in our production
meeting during the work. If you do take it to Sydney,
you're not going to get the sell out crowds from
you're getting an Adelaide. Look at if you did.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
Gold Coast versus free A Breno in Sydney and even
Brisbane as well. Yeah, they're just not going to get
the punters to those games. But if you brought it
to Tasmania Dhle Park, you could play a game up
there in Penguin. Okay, get the Northwest Coast involved. The
north obviously you played games at Uta Stadium that question.

(06:33):
Currently you played Bell Reeve. You're also go down to
Kingston Kingston before. Yeah, and because what we learned with
the Adelaide Hills, it's all about the deck, the actual
the grass and how well that facility is and all
those ovals I mentioned that a one facility.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
Sorry, we're going to North Hobart too.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
If we go back to the Spiritual Home.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Size and of the ground is an issue. It's not
because we saw some screens that we used last week.
So like Gather around good.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
And what about the tackle.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Talk during the week obviously a big, big talking point
during the week.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
What's your thoughts on it?

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Is the game dead?

Speaker 4 (07:12):
No, no, it's not. If you tackle someone and drive
them into the ground and their head hits the turf,
I think you deserve a week.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
I all over could not agree more. We're trying to
look after concussion, et cetera. It's black and white.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
Man. If the head hits the turf and you do
a forceful tackle and that happens, you're in trouble. And
people always talk about the Tribune or not being consistent. Well, hello,
last couple of weeks have been consistent on this tackle rule,
and it's very clear and I think it's one of
the best things they've done for quite some time.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Absolutely well said. Now let's go to basketball JJ's fixture
release during the week. We already knew about the Christmas
Day game.

Speaker 5 (08:00):
I like it. You don't like it?

Speaker 4 (08:01):
No, no, no, I've come around to it. Just because
you just keep getting presents all day brand, don't you
have your presence. Most of us just get a gift
or two in the morning and then have a bit
of lunch and we're done.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
But for you just keep runing in exactly well, the
perfect president now will be a JJ's win on Christmas Day,
won't it? So looking forward to that news day as well.
As I said, they start this season in Perth against
the Wildcats on Grand IFL Grand Final eve.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
That game is I know, the competition just starting before
the Grand Final and then our.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
First home game my State Bank Arena the Friday following,
which is the six against the Kings. Huge that will
be beig looking forward to that.

Speaker 4 (08:39):
So there's the renovation going out there Bane, not what
he's talking about. The extra crowd.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
Look, I don't know if that will happen.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
On this is going to happen.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
The government's paying for some other stuff. Might have wait
a little bit longer for that Ashes squad during the week.
No real surprises there, I don't think.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
And that's what it was. Bancroft. I would have picked Bancroft.
I would have taken him ahead of Harris. Actually no,
I would have had Harris. I would have had Renshaw out.
I'm not a Rent Shaw fan about Warner and well
warning you have to have him in the squad, but
he is under pressure and isn't that great to hear
from Candice Warner on the back page in that great
to get her advice on on David's form. That's just

(09:23):
wonderful and whatever she says, you just got to say yes,
I agree, totally not yes, but yeah, he's under pressure.
This is why we've got about seven openers in the team.
And I think I think he will definitely play in
the first yeah, not the first Test World Championship, World

(09:43):
Test Championship and then go from there. But George Bailey
has supported him at this stage.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
Okay, well we'll wait and see how that all plays out.
A Timmas had a pretty good work up at the
World Swimming champ the Australi Swiming Championships on the Gold Coast.
One of pet events, the eight hundred and the four
hundred were down the two hundred to Molly O'Callahan, who's
obviously a rising start.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
Not a real surprise, is it, because.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
Molly's she's absolutely and iuld have been sick as well
and leading up to it, so I think we've got
too much story about there.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
They've got them, Well, we've got how what about the
four by two hundred relay when that comes.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
Around, won't we And I wanted to just give a
shout to the Masters swimming, which winds up today. The
Australian Masters Championships been up at the Hobart Aquatics and
I went up there for work. On day one I
met her, a lady by the name of Dorothy Dickey.
She's ninety three years old. I saw that just finished
the eight hundred when and then she was at all

(10:41):
these other races.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
That was.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
If that doesn't motivate, yeah, they're great to see that,
you must have.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
That would been a great story.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
Yeah it was great actually yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Ninety three and swimming the eight hundred at the Master
I can't even swim a hundred. Absolutely stuffed.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
So well done, Dorothy, you're for You are a super
stuff and.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
In fact we should give her a Good Sport Award
this week.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
All that is the work that was. We've got lots
to come on at the show this morning. Later this hour.
Alan Christensen from Lord and Dale will join us.

Speaker 4 (11:11):
Blair.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
We'll have someone on the ground for us in Adelaide
that live Gulf to a little concern about that up next,
so we're talking burpies and for those who don't know
what burpies is, we'll explain it next because we've got
a superstar joining us in Louke Colbert. That's after this
on The water Boys do it all thanks to tas
Back your local Comboda dealer.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
This is the water Boys, thanks.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
To tas Back your local Caboda dealer. It is the
water Boys with Brent Costello and Blair Brownless. Now we
mentioned this off the top of the show.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
Barre, I asked you, this is amazing.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
How good are you a burpie?

Speaker 4 (11:44):
Have you done a few? Come on, Breno, Yes, of
course I have.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
I know you're a fitness well not well, but I've
done a few. Okay, very good. Well our next guest
has done a few as well. In fact, she holds
the world record for most burpies. It is an extraordinary
thing and she's about to try and beat it as well.
Speak of lou Calbott, who's about to get on the
mat and start doing her thing in the next hour
or two, and we really appreciate her time on The
water Boys this morning.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
Lou How are you how you feeling?

Speaker 6 (12:09):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (12:10):
Good, thank you? How are you going?

Speaker 3 (12:11):
Yeah, We're good, We're really good and we can't wait
to see how you go over the next twenty four hours.
So you want to try and beat your old record
of five, seven hundred and fifty six berpies in the
space of twenty four hours. So you go from ten
am this morning to ten am tomorrow. How does it work?
Do you get breaks and things like that? Just run
us through the setup.

Speaker 7 (12:29):
Please, yeah, sure, so I can break it down however
I like, so yeah, kind of up to me when
I want to break them when I don't. So I've
got a few little formulas in place to keep me
on track in accountable. So I'll work for thirty minutes
and in that time I'll complete three hundred berpies, So
ten a minute for thirty minutes, and then I'll rest

(12:51):
for fifteen minutes and then pretty much repeat that process.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
Quite extraordinary. Tell us about last time, because that was
obviously your first crack at it. How did you go.
Was the mental side of it the hardest or the
physical side? Just run us through that.

Speaker 7 (13:07):
Yeah, So last I was in twenty nineteen, so four
years ago. It was very tough. I guess I was
younger back then, but I did tear ligaments in my
wrist about seven hours into the twenty four hours, so
that set me back.

Speaker 8 (13:22):
A little bit for a few hours.

Speaker 7 (13:23):
I was trying to get some painkillers into me for that,
but we still manage to still accumulate five seven five six,
So this time, being a little bit older and wiser,
hopefully my body holding together, we're on track to get
well and truly over six thousands.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
Now, Lou, just share with us how you actually do
a proper burpee, because your chest has to hit the ground,
doesn't it.

Speaker 7 (13:46):
So chess, you have to start on the floor actually,
so start laying on your belly and bring your hands
out like the letter cheep. After you're starting and finishing
positions for one rep from their hands out, you pull
your hands underneath your shoulders like a push up position,
and then we bring our feet forward and it has
to be half your height, so we have to have
two lines measured on the floor. Feet have to go

(14:08):
from the back line to the front line in one motion,
and then we have to stand fully tall, so no,
none of these bent over salmon burpos that we see
all the time.

Speaker 6 (14:17):
Yes, and then hit the.

Speaker 7 (14:18):
Ground again and then hands back out some one reps account.

Speaker 4 (14:21):
Now that is amazing, because now, Lou, how tall are you?

Speaker 3 (14:26):
One?

Speaker 7 (14:26):
And sixty.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
Yes, So it helps being a bit lower to the ground,
doesn't it, because it is a compound movement, Brent, okay,
And so if you're taller, a bit done, the burpee
is such a difficult move to make, isn't it?

Speaker 8 (14:42):
Absolutely? Yes?

Speaker 4 (14:43):
Now, what about the whole fundraising aspect to this, because
we know you're fundraising for a great friend of ours,
Ryan Wiggins, and who's also your partner here at the moment.

Speaker 7 (14:55):
Yes, correct, So raising money and much needed awareness about
slide reporting injuries. And the main goal is to get
an fees a functional electronics stimulated bike down here and
Tabby for Ryan and others to use the game changer
in rehabilitation. And there's only a handful in Chabby, so
trying to get hold of one of those, they're about

(15:15):
forty five thousand dollars. So cancel the fundraising.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
And how's Ryan's rehab actually going? Because you're you're you're
spearheading that whole his whole rehab program, aren't you?

Speaker 1 (15:26):
Yeh?

Speaker 6 (15:27):
I am, I am.

Speaker 7 (15:28):
It's going great. He's absolutely killing it. He puts in
every single day and it's starting to pay off with
the new little movements, new flickers in nerves. So yeah,
it's been amazing.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
Now if you're there for twenty four hours, you're making
the great man. We go be there the whole time
as well, just so he has to go through hees
to count and done.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
It's using yes, why doesn't he count them for you?

Speaker 3 (15:49):
Lou Oh, I don't know absolutely in all seriousness, how
is there someone there making sure it's all ticked off?
And that's sort of thing hit thatad lines.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
Yeah, so I.

Speaker 7 (16:03):
Could get a Guinness World Record person to come down,
but that costs about twenty thousand dollars, so unfortunately, I'll
do it the hard way. So we've got about twenty
four volunteers from around Tazzi that have all volunteered to
come and count. I need two people counting at all
times so they can double check, one digitally and one
on paper and then it kind of just all gets

(16:25):
cross checked from there.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
Fantastic stuff. Well, we know you're not too far away,
so again we really appreciate your time jumping on with
us and having a chat to only an hour or
so before you actually start. We really appreciating we show
all the very best. It's an amazing thing you're doing.
And if people do want to donate?

Speaker 4 (16:40):
How do they do that?

Speaker 7 (16:41):
Looke, We've got to go bud me page. It's called
Redo for Ryan and the links either on my Instagram
Louise Calbot or Ryan Wiggins Instagram and go from there.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
Fantastic stuff. Well, congratulations and all the very best over
the next twenty four hours.

Speaker 4 (16:55):
We're all behind you.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
Louke, well done, Thanks legend Hell Louke havevites on the
water boards. She is about to start something very very
unbelievable and then try and beat her own burpee world record.

Speaker 4 (17:05):
Extraordinary, extraordinary stuff. When you think about six a thousand
burd peas and you know if you do teen honestly
that you're going well and six thousand it's quite remarkable
and good luck to I just I was going to
ask her, do you reckon she does a couple just
to warm up as well or just mate?

Speaker 3 (17:23):
I don't know. I can't even think about what she's doing,
let alone actually do it. It's it's unbelievable. So yeah,
we're great to have her on the show, and we
think that we go to who's obviously a really tough
last couple is, but he's inspirational. He is watching what
he's been able to do. It's just unbelievable. So we
wish them all the very best. As I said, look,
we've got a big show coming up not too far away.
We're talking footy with Loaded our footy club coach Alan Christensen.

(17:45):
But up next, well there's got a man on.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
The ground on the ground at leave a goal.

Speaker 3 (17:51):
Four corners top set up for correspondent. Sounds like we're
doing something. Three we've got to go at the golf.
It's all we've got. But that looking forward to it
though he's on the ground. The live event in Adelaide's
that's next year on the water Boys do it all.
Thanks the Ta's back you local Cobuta dealer.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
This here's the water Boys.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
Thanks to TAS back your local Cobata dealer. It is
the water Boys with Brent Costello and Blair Browness. Now
you've come in this morning and said you've got a.

Speaker 4 (18:15):
Better guest, someone on the ground at the live golf.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
So I'm expecting Dustin Johnson or Norman Norman. Who have
you got plays?

Speaker 4 (18:23):
Well, I've got a great friend of mine. His name
is a Tim and he is it's not a golfer, No,
Tim Baker the Great South Australian.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
He said, you had a big name live golfer that
for it.

Speaker 4 (18:38):
Well, they're about to play Brene. I just couldn't get him.
We're in the wrong time slot. But we've got Tim
Baker on the line now. Tim. I caught up with
Tim last week in gather around and he was off
to the golf and he went yesterday and he's going.

Speaker 5 (18:51):
To set the scene for us.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
So good morning, Tim, good morning, glad to be with you.

Speaker 6 (18:56):
That's a fantastic day down at the Grains Golf Club. Yes,
sorry not to be one of the top line players.
I'm a local member of the club there, but I
really enjoyed yesterday. It was something I've not seen before.

Speaker 4 (19:08):
We'll talk us through that, Tim, because it was absolutely huge. Now,
the PGA two never comes to Australia, does it, And
there are no big events and so Live deliberately brought
this event to Adelaide.

Speaker 6 (19:22):
Yes, it's an interesting backstory with Greg Norman and one
of his first ever big wins was that what was
called the West Lakes Open, which is now the Grange
Golf Club. So he's had a strong involvement locally, but
he's also redesigned the East Course back in about twenty twelve,
so he's had a good connection with the Grange. So
I think the opportunity to bring golf to Australia but

(19:43):
also to a club that he has some very fun
memories of. It was a great win.

Speaker 4 (19:50):
A great win, all right. Now what about the crowd there?
You say it was absolutely pumping. Now, you had a
corporate ticket, You're on the twelfth hole, five hundred dollars
for your corporate ticket. You had the music going, the
DJ after the game, after the round. Sorry, what what
set up the atmosphere?

Speaker 6 (20:08):
Wow? Huge crowd And it was just lucky about season
scenes in Phoenix or you know Sawgrass where you've got
the parts three just lines right around, people up in
the corporate DJ playing all day and I mean all day,
even when the players are teaming off, got their their
leading song.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
They got the leading So none of those people, the
old members with the batons up saying quite please.

Speaker 6 (20:35):
No, Well, there was a little bit around the aside,
but not this hole. This was the party hole. And
hilarious scenes, absolutely hilarious. When camp Smith came on, we
had the headline actor DJ Fisher is run out onto
the Fairway and offered Cam a showy Cam declined and

(20:56):
DJ Fisher took He went through with that. But at
the end of the concert, they've got this headline Guys
International act and camp Smith appears up on stage halfway
through the concert and almost that Chewy so he finished
up the day. It was just hilarious, fantastic.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
This is why I've got Tim on because he was
there brand Where Are People? Show where people were for
the people and Tim was there front and center with
DJ and jam Smith and the likes. That's day one.
But Jesus came up well on the TV as well.
I thought the commentary and everything else was absolutely outstanding.

(21:36):
But what about your town, Adelaide. You had gathered around
into live golf and Jesus. Its all happening in Adelaide.

Speaker 6 (21:43):
It's all happening at the moment, and our premier has
just elevated in status to rockstar with the DJ, and
everyone would have been just as happy. I don't know
what's going on here with the politics and sports, but
so many people from me the state. Yesterday I had
a chat with a few people come across the border
from Victoria loving it. People flying in and out to

(22:04):
do the corporate experience, and I've been terrific for our state,
and it's no doubt terrific for the Grange Golf Club
as well.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
Tim.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
Before we let you go, Blair just said you caught
up with him last week?

Speaker 4 (22:16):
What sort of state was he? Employees?

Speaker 3 (22:18):
When you ran past him? And then and I had
a few beers behaving himself?

Speaker 6 (22:23):
Was he he was behaving himself? He was fine when
I left him, as usually what I say. It was
great to catch up with him and we always have
a good time.

Speaker 4 (22:33):
Tim wasn't there when the whips were cracking.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
Tim, great to have you on board and enjoy the
rest of the weak. Glad to be there across fantastic.
Thanks for joining us, mate. I appreciate and enjoy the
day that you made. Tim, who's on the ground at
Live Golf to be nice to be there. You've made
a mess of that. You should have stayed for an
extra week.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
I didn't know how big it was actually this event
twenty thousand there DJ. We just saw a clip on
the news there DJ just pumping their party. It's like
a rock concert, as he was saying, Kam Smith, they
are doing shilly on there with it is unbelievable format,
very good.

Speaker 3 (23:15):
Yeah, so that was good for me.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
I locked it.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
That was a good get getting team on the ground there.
I live golf in Adelaide. Speaking of men on the ground,
this man be on the ground on Tuesday for Anzac
Day and North hibat over with is Alan Christens and
the coach. Oh the lord of our footy club, premiership
player with your Cats back in twenty eleven. He geors
after this on the water Boys doing all thanks to
taz Mak, you local Combota dealer.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
This is the water Boys.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
Thanks to Tasmak, your local Kbota dealer. It is the
water Boys with the Brent Costello and Blair Browns for
your Saturday morning, April twenty second, twenty twenty three. Ah Yes,
massive an Zach day of footy coming up in the TSL.
We're going to have the Tigers and the Magpie is
going head head of the Twin Obles and at North

(23:59):
high about over all the Bombers are traveling up the
highway to take on the D's and this man will
be out there front and center. It's the coach of
the Lorderdale footy Club, Alan Christensen, who's been good enough
to join us on the water Boys this morning. Dave Bundy,
we're going, well mate, how are you going? Please? You've
started the season one and one in your first year
as senior coach at lorder Dale.

Speaker 4 (24:20):
You're enjoying it so far? Yeah, it's been good.

Speaker 8 (24:23):
Obviously we'd rather a few more wins that you know.
That round one game was pretty ordinary, but yeah, we
sort of bounced back in that second half. Again's called
an auty last week and after the first half I
wasn't sure if we're going to have a job. No,

(24:43):
it was good the boys that well.

Speaker 3 (24:46):
Now we caught up with yesterday for the news, but
just tell us about the privilege of playing on Anzac
Day and how much the group's looking forward to that
come Tuesday.

Speaker 8 (24:54):
Absolutely, Like you know, we're in a really unique spot
down here that was sort of got our own little pocket,
and on Tuesday morning we'll head down to War Memorial
and on all those who have fallen and didn't get
to come back from their conflicts, but also the ones
that are still with us now, ones who are battling

(25:15):
with the post traumatic war disorders that they have to
go through, and just trying to be a little bit
of light to those who come to those games and
have some sense of normality. But yeah, it's also a
great clash between two crowd clubs as well, and I
think it's a massive privilege that we have to play.

Speaker 6 (25:36):
In these days.

Speaker 4 (25:37):
Really well, said Bundy. I love the fact that you're
educating your players in that regard. Now, do you get
the sense that competition has really opened up this year?
Because Long Sesteon in your time here in the state,
Long Sesstem have absolutely dominated this competition and we know
that Clarence and the Tigers are fencing their chances. Do
you get that sense the comps really opened up this year?

Speaker 8 (26:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (26:01):
Absolutely.

Speaker 8 (26:01):
I think you'll see a couple of surprises here and
there throughout the season, probably after this little block coming
up now, Like we played Tuesdays and Sunday and then
travel up to Long Session, so we've got a tough
little three week stretch, three games stretch coming up. I
know a couple other teams are in that boat, so

(26:22):
it's just the way the fixture is rolling out at
the moment. But I wouldn't be surprised if you saw
a couple of upsets over the next few weeks, just because.

Speaker 9 (26:30):
You know, there's commis some.

Speaker 8 (26:31):
Sore entied bodies, but the whole competition's open. I think,
you know, in terms of standard and you know the
way it's the games that we played. I think it'll
be pretty good Foota to come and watch.

Speaker 4 (26:43):
Now, buddy, what about your own form? Because last week
you had thirty two possessions and four goals and I
heard your speech. Is just you told the players just
kick it to me, I'll get the job done. Is
that what that's what you're doing?

Speaker 9 (27:00):
That's none of.

Speaker 5 (27:00):
That, Come on modest on this show.

Speaker 8 (27:06):
A few more explete.

Speaker 9 (27:07):
Is trying to get them going at half time?

Speaker 8 (27:09):
I can tell you that, But no, that was none
of that. Were we st just plick the switch in
the in the second half, which was good. It was
nicely as hard of.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
Buy you've been here? What this is your third season?
Off the top of my head or yeah, so hey,
you enjoying Tasmania. Obviously interesting move for you at the time,
I suppose, But so you enjoying your time here obviously
given that you're still here.

Speaker 8 (27:33):
Yeah, No, it's been good. Like it's a pretty crazy
place to live, and you know, lifestyle was like pretty
pretty easy. So I've got no issues in saying here
and sort of hanging out like a lot of people
for an AFL team and try and find myself into
a pathway to becoming a AFL assistant or development coach

(27:53):
along those lines. So yeah, it's worth the weight hanging
around here, you know, sort of that third year here
it's being good.

Speaker 4 (28:01):
Yeah, just talk about that, I guess.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
So you always wanted to be a senior coach, I think,
and that is that your your career projection, I suppose
is potentially being with the tazzy team, as you just said.

Speaker 8 (28:11):
Yeah, like hope hopefully if something gets announced, even if
you know they somehow find their way back into the VFL.
It's just pretty hard for coaches, especially they do get
rid of the state league. It doesn't really give like
coaches down here any halfway to go about other than

(28:33):
going back to the mainland. So that's probably another thing
that you know, there is a lot of noise around
state league and stuff like that. But if we drops
back the regional football and you'll probably find some of
these really good coaches and stuff to start going to
the mainland to chase their dream of being you know,
AFL business development coaches and stuff like that. I think

(28:55):
you have to look at like Dane little John up
at North Lannie. He's a great job at the North
on Sesson and he comes up to Brisbane and does
a great job. And that's where like state league development.
I'm not sure if you know, we get rid of
state league like that development and then you know to
the players they're not going to get the development they
need either. So yeah, I think it has there's another

(29:18):
effect on it that people probably don't recognize. So hopefully, yeah,
we get some sort of team in now soon and
I can sort of jump on that fam.

Speaker 6 (29:27):
Wagon and help.

Speaker 4 (29:29):
Well. The good news is Bundy were spoken on this show.
There's announcement coming next week, so there is some very
very good news coming on that front. But I want
to take you back to twenty eleven the Grand Final,
the Mighty Long Football Club taking on Collingwood and you
played in that and what are your memories of that day.

Speaker 8 (29:52):
I was still pretty young, so I was only in
my nineteenth game of foot, so I was pretty pretty
fortunate to be in that position to sort of break
into a team that the year before lost or prelium.
In the year before that beat sank Kilda in a
Grand Final. So I was pretty fortunate being in the
position I was the day. It's a bit of a blur,

(30:12):
to be honest, but there's only a sort of moment
that I can sort of like vividly remember, and I
can remember the final sign and though, which is a
nice memory to have there. But in terms of the game,
watch it back a few times and you do things,
I'm like, I do not remember that, don't remember that.
It's a bit of a blurb, but something that I'll

(30:35):
cherish forever. And so I take the granted because there's
been a lot of great to AFL footy that have
never been able.

Speaker 9 (30:41):
To do it.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
Now, quickly before I let you go, Bundy, Chris Tencent,
can you just clear that up for everyone so they
don't call you Christensen because that's how much that annoys you,
but it annoys me and it's not even my name.
And then secondly, tell us where the nickname Bundy came from. Please,
I love this story. Tell me about it last year now. No, No,
it's a good one. It's a good one. I know
that how it is.

Speaker 8 (31:01):
It's all weird, yeah, Christensen, so there's no Christian some
in there. Or anything like that. But yeah, uh, the
old char married the children. His name is Al Bundy.
Since I was a young kid, you know, been called
Al and then Al Bundy and then Bundy is just

(31:23):
stuck like everyone. Yeah, my mom calls me Bundy. Yeah,
everyone just called it.

Speaker 4 (31:29):
So I'm glad. It's got nothing to do with the bear.
Nothing to do with the bear there by, no, absolutely nothing, good.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
Goody, fantastic stuff. But I really appreciate you joining us
and all the very best on Tuesday when you take
on the days at North High bad on Anzac.

Speaker 4 (31:44):
I appreciate it's on this morning.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
Thanks Christinsen, your son you are you are professional. That's right,
it's just there. It's there, you can see it written down.

Speaker 4 (31:55):
Yes, anyway, great chatter. Bundy, he's been for the competition.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
Solutely to get superstars.

Speaker 4 (32:03):
Well we don't get him. We don't get him, and
he's not even a sometime even ow Tasmanians don't come
back okay after their IFL stints. So to get a
player fresh of this incident like Bundy, he's been fantastic.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
Well, you've got to get to New Sporting Weather because
we've got a big second out of the show coming
up very very soon. We're going to talk it about
AFL round six so far. David Hail from Hawthorne will
join us. Anthony drimmingk the new Tasmani a jack Jumper's recruit,
and wind up the show with our good Sport Award
in some of the big games across Tasmani this weekend.
That's after new Sporting Weather. Here on the water Boys,
all thanks to tas mak you Lo kal Kabata dialer.

Speaker 2 (32:37):
This is the water Boys.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
How good was that first hour of the show this morning,
But we've got lots more to come. We'll get to
that in the moment, but let's quickly whip through the
scores from overnight BB and Freeman of Woody Club.

Speaker 4 (32:52):
Goodness, Gracio, What is going on there at Freeman or
is it football going well in West Australia overall? As
you pointed out early in the show, Brene, but the
Dogs one hundred and eighteen three a sixty nine, so
forty nine point victory. That's on the home deck of
the Mighty or once Mighty, no never mighty Free Football Club.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
No disappointing, isn't it?

Speaker 4 (33:16):
Nur?

Speaker 3 (33:16):
Last night Brisbane had a good win ten points over
Paramatta twenty six to sixteen. Up in the top end
basketball last night. Ow, I mean Anthony Stewart kicked out
of the Obataporn Sports Center double technical foul, so I
think it was just right on three quarter turn.

Speaker 4 (33:32):
Actually they probably played better when actually did you he
left the court?

Speaker 3 (33:36):
I actually did. I came back and we were pretty good
in that last quarter, but they went down in the
end of the charges by eleven ninety four to eighty three.
The women had a good win though over Ballarat fifty
five forty two. And in the North last night the
Thunder and the Torns both went down to Knox. And
now all those teams flip around tonight, so Knox will
come south and Ballerat will go and.

Speaker 4 (33:57):
That's good rustering.

Speaker 3 (33:57):
Yeah, actually, yeah, you don't see it, toten. I think
we saw it once last year the double headers, but
formally the Friday night here and the Saturday night in
the North. So yeah, I don't mind it. Actually, what
about the A League last.

Speaker 4 (34:09):
Night Western Sydney. They're showing up there Spy in the
finals four. Well it's in zero, very nice.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
We've got a big second out of the show coming
up shortly. We're going to look at AFL round six,
what's happened so far, what's to come. We're also going
to deep dive into Adelaide Hawthorne tomorrow at Utah, starting
with David Hale, the assistant coach at Hawthorne, and Anthony
Drimakill joined us as well the new jack Jumpers recruit.

Speaker 4 (34:33):
Finally, we had a free agency.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
Signing during the week, which was good. We've got the
next one of our good sport of ward Well whip
around some of the grounds for some of the big
games this weekend, happening to at the end of the show.
That's all to come for you in the next sixty minutes.
Here in extra time of the water Boys.

Speaker 4 (34:45):
Do we got all?

Speaker 3 (34:46):
Thanks to tas Mak, your local Kbota dealer.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
This here's the water Boys.

Speaker 3 (34:51):
Thanks to tas Mack, your local Kbota dealer. It is
the water Boys with Brent cos Elo and Blair Brownless.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
Now before we get to the AFEL games this week,
Brene I made up this new stinger hit it.

Speaker 1 (35:02):
Will We or Won't We?

Speaker 2 (35:03):
Get a license?

Speaker 1 (35:04):
The water Boys discuss Tasmania's AFL push.

Speaker 4 (35:08):
How professional is that? You've got at our production meeting.
I put that together behind the scenes. But now where
we're at I hear there's some very very very exciting
news just around the corner.

Speaker 5 (35:21):
Breno.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
Yeah, we're getting an AFL team, no doubt, and a
stadium and a stadium, and I believe one hundred percent,
and I believe we'll get an announcement as soon as
this week on the stadium the week coming up. Yes, yeah,
that's that's my mail.

Speaker 5 (35:39):
And this is huge.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
I don't understand undersell this. And because a lot of
people are saying, yes it's likely, and yes things are
looking in good, but you are saying one hundred percent.
Obviously the federal government and the AFL will make some
sort of joint announcement this week.

Speaker 3 (35:57):
This coming week, I think what we'll see is Anthony
Abernezi or the federal government come down, make the announcement
on the stadium or the urban renewal projests at Macquarie Point,
and then a few days later the big man, Gila
McGlocklin all roll into town and announced Tasmania as an
AFL t Wow.

Speaker 4 (36:16):
Wow, this that will be chopped up and played everywhere.
It will be and that's that is fantastic news because,
like I said, people are saying things are looking good,
things are looking promising, but you're saying one hundred percent
it will happen and very soon. Ye, well that's so exciting. Now,
what about the roof Breno.

Speaker 3 (36:36):
Yeah, I don't think.

Speaker 4 (36:36):
I don't know if it will have a Well, that's
the thing.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
We haven't seen a design for the stadium, so it's
literally going to be the fundings there for the stadium.
Then I guess I have to start that process. And
that's another story altogether. How much it will end up costing.
What's it going to look like as obviously a few
issues to deal with with different bodies and stuff that
have piped up, I suppose with things that they'd like
to see fixed. So that's going to be the next

(37:00):
part of it. But we'll see a tick. We'll see
another tick from the AFL Gila mcglock and can go
on his merry way and right off into the sunset
and all progress from there.

Speaker 4 (37:09):
Now, the announcement won't be just about the stadium. This
will be the important beat one. It will be about
a whole region, regional to sort of development there down
at mac point one.

Speaker 3 (37:19):
Yeah absolutely, So yeah, what that looks like to will
be really interesting because.

Speaker 4 (37:24):
Yeah, it'll be housing, it will be commercial opportunities and
be transport hard.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
Yep, all that.

Speaker 4 (37:30):
Yeah. Do you know what Dad laid oval they've got
a hotel on the outside of the ground attached to
the actual oval.

Speaker 3 (37:37):
And I think something we've lacked too. Here's a major
convention center. You've got a few places around, not anything
super super huge like you've seen in Melbourne.

Speaker 4 (37:46):
The big exhibitions of the conferences.

Speaker 3 (37:48):
So that that's something else I would have thought I'll
look at as well, but we'll wait and see.

Speaker 4 (37:54):
Branche. I am so super excited about that. So fantastic news.
Fantastic news.

Speaker 1 (37:59):
Turning their attention to the national game. It's the water
Boys AFL ramp.

Speaker 3 (38:03):
All right, lots to get through. Last night. It was
a very disappointing night for the Fremantle foota club, as
we said, going down to the Western Woo Dogs one
hundred and eighteen to sixty nine, forty nine point margin
in the end.

Speaker 5 (38:16):
Yeah, alarm bells going up.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
So, as you said, they showed so much promise and
they've got they've got some good players to Brayshaw and
so wrong.

Speaker 4 (38:23):
And all these all these guys just not happening. It'd
be interesting to really analyze why it's not happening there.
Everything looks so good, and you know why their forward line.
It's the forward line. There's always been suspect they don't
have tall targets. Tabernas not the answer, and they really
struggled up the forward line. But they did welcome back
Rory Lob. They are very happy to see Rory back

(38:46):
in the wild words.

Speaker 3 (38:48):
He gave it to him.

Speaker 4 (38:51):
Now we'll spend exactly five seconds on this game Port
Adelaide versus your team West Coast Eagles.

Speaker 3 (38:57):
Let's just say the margin. What's the margin going to be?
That's all we need to talk about.

Speaker 4 (39:00):
Plus sixty plus sixty there. I watched them last week
against Geelong in gatheround the second quarter. It was like
a training drill. The West Coast players were like, witch's hats,
thanks you, and this is AFL we're talking about. This
is not some country competition. They were absolutely putrid West
Coast Eagles and they do have injuries though I'll cut

(39:24):
you a little bit of slack, but it's not happening
there either.

Speaker 3 (39:27):
GWS and Brisbane in Canberra.

Speaker 4 (39:30):
You see Brisbane losing that one though. I like Brisbane.
They're starting to get on the roll, aren't they under
master coach Christy Fagan. We love Fags and GW pretty inconsistent.
Then when they turn it on they can be quite damaging.
But the Brisbane lines which linds for me to your cats.

Speaker 3 (39:47):
So they get their first game at GMHBA starting for
the season. This would be a good one against the Swans.

Speaker 4 (39:52):
Swans record, yes, not too bad, but geez have got
some defenders out. They've got McCart and boys out and
rampy and they'll be up against Jeremy Cameron and Tomahawk
as well. So look they're unveiling the flag. It will
be unfilled and the whole town will be a buzz
now just quickly, so you can't take the glory when

(40:14):
you know you're family with Paddy McCart And obviously yes,
now you're asked to answer the hard questions as well.

Speaker 3 (40:19):
Is he going to play footy again?

Speaker 4 (40:21):
Well that that's a really good question and I would
not want to make a comment on that because it's
still unknown there. He's still suffering from some symptoms on
the concussion and say it's his brother actually Tom, which
is not in the same category as Paddy, don't get
me wrong, but yes, so it's still uncertain at this stage.

Speaker 3 (40:42):
Good friend of the show too after a few weeks ago,
Well look at Hawthorne Adelaide in the next segment David Hale,
so will skip to Carlton and this will be a
good guy.

Speaker 4 (40:50):
This would be a great game. Yeah, well Cartler disappointed
last week, but they've been super up until then. Fourth
on the ladder, so kill the first on the ladder?
Can you believe that? Rosso line? That is unbelievable in
that Like when Brett Ratton got sacked last year, I
was angry actually at the club. I thought, how dare
they a great bloke Brett Ratton? But what Rossy Lion

(41:12):
can do is remarkable and to get them top of
the table that is extraordinary.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
And who you tip?

Speaker 4 (41:18):
Well Sat killed it. Yeah at least I got big
power forwards. It's something I like about Coult. Yeah, there
is a bad team to watch a gold coaster.

Speaker 3 (41:29):
You think would beat North Melbourne?

Speaker 4 (41:31):
Yes, you're not sure about the gold case that beat
longer and then their future the week afterwards go figure.
That's North Melbourne struggling along as we.

Speaker 3 (41:42):
Know, always a big spectacle on Anzaka even at the
MC A lot scheduling, magnifficent occasion. But I think Melbourne
will be far too good for Richmond given the Tigers
injury concerns.

Speaker 4 (41:52):
And Tommy Lynch is important. You know Tommy Lynch. But yeah,
go on, you were going to say something, well, because
it marks about their big recruits Hopper and Taranto. They
get a heap of the ball, but they're a bit
like Tom Mitchell was at Hawthorne, not damaging. That's a
few question marks about Richmond.

Speaker 3 (42:11):
Now typically wouldn't matter where Essendon and Collingwood are on
the ladder when it comes to Anzac David, they have
them second versus third. This is this is all set
up for the first time in a long time, isn't it.
They sit on the ladder.

Speaker 4 (42:23):
It was just gonna be a huge spot on Brent.
This is huge, as you said, third and second on
the ladder, and Collingwood is they're exciting to watch and
Esendon play an exciting brand of football, a bit like
we were saying with some killed A new coach coming
in Brad Scott and has really lifted Essendon this year,
so I can't wait for this one. The pre game

(42:44):
set up, I was going to say entertainment, it's probably
not the correct word, but the pre game set up
there absolutely magnificent.

Speaker 5 (42:53):
But it's not entertainment the respects.

Speaker 3 (43:00):
Yeah, it's called tradition, observance, ceremony, I think is the
official title.

Speaker 4 (43:05):
Well done, but get there and make sure you're watching
from about two o'clock onwards doing it three twenty.

Speaker 3 (43:12):
They do it so well, they do it very very well.
And hey, that's our AFL rap. But we're going to
continue the AFL talk next when Hawthorne Footy Club assistant
coach David Hale joins us to preview the game at
Utahs Stadium tomorrow afternoon between Hawthorne and Adelaide. That's next
on the water Boys thanks to Tasmack, your local Kombuta dealer.

Speaker 2 (43:29):
This is the water Boys.

Speaker 3 (43:31):
Thanks to tas Mak, your local Commuta dealer. It is
the water Boys with Brent Costello and Blair Brownless.

Speaker 1 (43:36):
It's now time with the toughest segment in Tasmanian radio
is questions with a notice.

Speaker 3 (43:41):
And these questions without notice and you can have a
new ball today.

Speaker 4 (43:44):
Yet soul start. The first question is where is David Hale,
the Hawks assistant coach, who should be we should be
speaking to this very segment right now. Where is he?

Speaker 5 (43:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (43:56):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (43:56):
He's not answering his phone right and you can only
do so much when you turn for an interview. You've
got to rely on people.

Speaker 4 (44:03):
Works from their phone.

Speaker 3 (44:04):
Unfortunately, we can't get the big feller this morning. So
here we are with questions without noticing, well, what will.

Speaker 4 (44:09):
The crowd be there tomorrow at Utaz Stadium. I'll say
ten four hundred good. If they get over ten thousand,
that would be great. You have your thoughts. Yes, I'm
happy with that. I think Adelaide has been very good actually,
and they were terrific last game. But they might be
a little bit flat for this game, Brenet, because they

(44:31):
were up and about last week, because they gathered around
and they really turned on turned it on.

Speaker 5 (44:36):
So I get the feeling they might be a little
bit flat.

Speaker 4 (44:39):
And Hawthorne the real underdogs, might win this because they've
beat North Melbourne up there a couple of weeks ago
and they.

Speaker 5 (44:46):
Yeah, they do, they really do.

Speaker 4 (44:47):
So there's upset brewing here and we.

Speaker 3 (44:50):
Didn't get approve you that game. But Chase Jones has
been really good the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 4 (44:54):
And it's been good because he struggled to be honest,
he's been on the fringe for the last couple of years.
And Chase has really some the spot in that team,
which is great for him.

Speaker 3 (45:03):
Okay, I want to ask you about when we get
our AFL team. Yes, what is the perfect split of
games from your perspective from the south of the North.

Speaker 4 (45:13):
Let's say we'll have eleven games. Will we eleven home games? Yes? Yes, eleven,
so it has to be seven in Hobart at the
new stadium and for Utahs seven to four.

Speaker 3 (45:25):
Yeah, yeah, I think that's about right.

Speaker 4 (45:28):
And if we get an extra gather around, well actually
next one, Yeah, that's right, get the extra round now,
But that's a that's obviously to go elsewhere.

Speaker 3 (45:36):
So it's still the same amount, isn't it?

Speaker 4 (45:37):
For exactly now? Still on the new stadium at macpoint,
and you have exclusively revealed that there'll be one hundred
percent it's exclusive.

Speaker 3 (45:47):
I think everyone knows what's happening now.

Speaker 4 (45:49):
Everyone's saying it's most likely things are looking good. But
we've gone with it's going to happen. Now, will that
stadium have a roof?

Speaker 3 (46:00):
I don't think it will.

Speaker 4 (46:01):
Yes, what it was meant to be a pre records
the AFL said it had to have a roof and
we never agreed with it that that's what they were saying.

Speaker 3 (46:10):
The problem is that if you have a roof, it
has to be retractable, otherwise you can't host cricket.

Speaker 4 (46:15):
There, test cricket, test.

Speaker 3 (46:16):
Cricket so in the and that's going to cost a
lot of money.

Speaker 4 (46:20):
So whether it's too expensive, it's not going to happen.
I don't think it is.

Speaker 3 (46:23):
But what I would do in the design is build
it so you could have one built on there in
the future, in the future.

Speaker 4 (46:29):
Right, that's about the hothouse thing that the New Zealand
Rugby Stadium.

Speaker 3 (46:34):
It couldn't work. It's still classes of roof would have
thought for cricket, So that was the go I think
the perspect sort of permanent one.

Speaker 4 (46:41):
But I like that.

Speaker 3 (46:43):
No, that's so good. And guess what that was my
question for you as well. So I've got one to
come back one for you.

Speaker 4 (46:50):
What will your perfect day look like? For Christmas? This
year because your big JJ's nuffy. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (46:59):
Well, I'll wake up with the kids and early Santa
will have been and it's always a beautiful moment when
we sit down and wrap the presents, and then we'll
I think we're off to my parents for breakfast this year,
and then we'll go down to Allison's mums for lunch. Yes,
and then about three or four o'clock I'll have to
toddle off the my State Bank arena and watch the

(47:21):
JJ's win against Southeast Melbourne Phoenix.

Speaker 4 (47:23):
Yeah, so you won't be partaking in a few drinks
around the lunch time because you're a professional.

Speaker 3 (47:27):
That's right, exactly, very professional.

Speaker 4 (47:30):
They're exactly right.

Speaker 3 (47:31):
The crowd will be interesting on Christmas Day.

Speaker 4 (47:33):
I reckon a bit obviously built for TV, there's no
doubt about it. Yeah, correct, Actually here you spot on. Yes.

Speaker 3 (47:39):
But the thing is with the jack Jumpers, most of
their seats are members ships anyway, so that there's no
seats to be sold, and you can put your ticket
back into the system if you want to try and
resell it. So what the crowd looks like on Christmas
Day will be fascinating. I reckon a lot of people
will get around it. Yeah, yeah, because by that time
of day unless you got and a lot of people
do have things on at the night in nighttime because
you do go different fans and things like that.

Speaker 4 (48:01):
But there'll be a lot of people looking.

Speaker 3 (48:02):
For something to do as well. And a lot of
people don't celebrate Christmas like others do.

Speaker 4 (48:05):
But that's true.

Speaker 3 (48:06):
Yeah, so it's going to be really interesting.

Speaker 4 (48:08):
I reckon and another one from you because of you said
Lonceston in the t cl are on the slide, you said,
there's trouble. Excuse me, excuse me, he wins. I may
have been belliest that a little bit, a little bit
wins the premiership this year because I think Clarence. I

(48:29):
think Clarence is going to win that this year. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (48:32):
I think the Tigers for me, Yeah, a lot of
the Tigers. They've just got a good build over the
last five years. And Nick people like James Webb who's
got premiership experiences with an Orkie and you know the
big fellow Tompkinson's there and Tyler Carter and Able obviously
College Will exactly he's been good too.

Speaker 2 (48:53):
Really good.

Speaker 4 (48:54):
Do you know what I like about him? Because for
about the last four or five years. We've said they're
a young team, they're up and can't mean but your
time has come, Tigers. You know you can't be a young,
up and coming team forever. And they made big steps
last year to get to the Grand Final, and so yeah,
they are cherry right to take it out this year.
I agree, but they're going to come second and Clarence

(49:17):
to win.

Speaker 3 (49:17):
Take your Clarence had off you.

Speaker 4 (49:19):
Thanks for all your questions to me was great.

Speaker 3 (49:22):
Too, and then you took one, so I had one
about Tommy did some Here's.

Speaker 5 (49:26):
Another one for you.

Speaker 4 (49:29):
Spot what's the secret to a great marriage? Brent?

Speaker 3 (49:33):
What just go from?

Speaker 5 (49:35):
You just talked about your Christmas Day and all that.

Speaker 3 (49:39):
I think that's a story for another day. We'll keep
a whole segment for that and we can both share
our secrets long lasting. That'd be great.

Speaker 4 (49:48):
I'm up to thirty years married. Don't you believe that?
Thirty years married? We're ten this year, so wow, I'll
pass on some tips. Very good, very good.

Speaker 3 (49:58):
I don't know what that came up with any He's
on a different tangent our man this morning. It's interesting anyway,
that's question that no David Harl Unfortunately we couldn't reach him,
so David, we had to pull out questions of that note,
which is always an entertaining segment anyway. All right, we
got to straighten up because lots more still to come
on the show this morning, not too far away as
the next winner of our good Sport Award. But up

(50:18):
next it's the new tas Money, a Jack Jumpers recruit
Anthony Drimmik joining us here on the program doing it
all thanks to tas Mack, you local Kambuta dealer.

Speaker 2 (50:25):
This he is the water Boys.

Speaker 3 (50:29):
Thanks to Tasmack, your local Kamata dealer. It is the
water Boys with Brancostelo and Blair Brownless. We're talking basketball
on the show.

Speaker 2 (50:35):
Now.

Speaker 3 (50:41):
We love that tune and this man is gonna have
to get used to singing along to it because he
has been our first free agency signing for the jack
Jumpers for NBL twenty four. His name is Anthony Drimmik.
He's a veteran of the NBL, being at the Britain
Bullets the Adelade thirty six is and now we're lucky
enough to have him here in Tasmania.

Speaker 4 (50:57):
Welcome to the show. Anthony.

Speaker 9 (51:00):
Hey, you guys, going.

Speaker 3 (51:01):
Thanks having me, great to have you aboard, mate, and
welcome to the jack Jumpers as well. We can't wait
to see you down here in a few months time.
But just tell us about how you landed in Tasmania.

Speaker 9 (51:11):
Yeah, I mean free agency opened up and you know,
had a few options, but this one just made the
most sense, you know, both where I'm at with my
career and uh, you know, style of play and you know,
just an opportunity to come in and help an organization
like Tasmania you know, hopefully reached that next that next level.

Speaker 3 (51:31):
Now, we only got the announcement earlier this week, but
the deal has been done for a little while, hadn't it.

Speaker 4 (51:36):
The coach said, yeah, it's been done for a little while.

Speaker 9 (51:40):
You know, the contract stuff, they are, the announcements, they
do take a bit of time. But yeah, soon as
free agency got started, Yeah, Scott, Scott hit me up
and we kind of got it sorted pretty quickly. I
was excited to yeah, sign that fign that deal.

Speaker 3 (51:54):
Now, what have you made of the jack Jumpers journey
for the for the first two seasons From the outside
looking in at a pretty wild ride down here for
all of us. But you must have looked on with
a lot of respect and admirational assume.

Speaker 9 (52:07):
I mean incredible, right, two years, make the playoffs, but
playoffs playoffs for both years, and make the finals the
first season. So you know, it's not very often you
see a new organization come in and have that kind
of impact. Yeah, just incredible.

Speaker 4 (52:24):
I would say it certainly has been incredible Anthony, And
it's great to have you on board. Now, what are
you doing Christmas Day this year?

Speaker 9 (52:33):
Playing a basketball game?

Speaker 4 (52:35):
Yeah, it's Are you excited about that?

Speaker 9 (52:38):
Yeah, I'm excited In Tasmania, that definitely helps. I think
the league made a great impact by bringing games to
Christmas Day and bringing more eyes eyes to the game.
I definitely think it'll be.

Speaker 4 (52:52):
Exciting now for all our fans listening out there. What
can I expect? What's what type of play can I
expect from the Anthony? Hard?

Speaker 9 (53:02):
Competitive, shoot the ball a little bit. You know, I
think I'm going to fit the Tasmanian style pretty well.
I feel like, you know, from the outside looking in,
I definitely think that, you know, I'll be able to
just slide straight in and kind of kind of fit
that Tasmanian game style.

Speaker 4 (53:21):
Yeah, So as you as you mentioned at the top,
was that a big factor because you know Scott Roff
and his style and defend the island and the mantra
there that really does suit your game style.

Speaker 9 (53:33):
Yeah, that was definitely a big draw for me. I
know it's not going to be easy. I know nothing
is easy over there, so I'm really excited to go
over there and kind of earn my opportunity and you know,
just just help the team win. I'm at that stage
of my career where I've said it a couple of
times now where I want to win a championship. So
if I can come over and help us do that,

(53:55):
then yeah, I'm excited for that.

Speaker 3 (53:57):
Anthony Dre mccanneer, Jack Jumper's recruit is guests on the
water Boys this morning. Anthony, you've you're great mates with
Jack McVeigh. Of course, how much influenced hey having your
decision to come down here and and may may have
you gone somewhere else if if Jack hadn't have been
here in Tasmania.

Speaker 9 (54:13):
I do want to give too much credit just in case.
But soon he got a smiff that there was a
chance I was coming over. He was all over and
trying to convince me. So look, me and Jack have
been really really good mates for it for a while now,
and I'm excited to be able to play with him again. Yeah,
I'm just really happy and excited for it.

Speaker 3 (54:34):
And what about the NBL is a whole made As
we said, you've been at the bris and Bullets and
the Adelaide thirty six is, how do you say the
competition just seems to be gathering more interest and just
growing by the year, doesn't it.

Speaker 4 (54:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (54:46):
Every year, I mean every year you say it's getting bigger,
but it's true, it really is getting bigger. You see
it by the crowds, see the quality of game day
and the quality of the players, right, you know, with
the Next Dollars program, you've got guys coming over who
are lottery picks. So it's it's just getting better and
better every season. And you know that just that just
shows the incredible work that the NBL and all the

(55:08):
teams put in.

Speaker 4 (55:09):
It certainly is now just just a question on the
like thirty six is, like pre season you look like
well beats and looked like it was going to be
a massive year. What actually happened there? Now that you've
left the organization, what actually happened there, Andy, Look.

Speaker 9 (55:26):
It was tough, but I just don't think we, you know,
got all the pieces together throughout the season. I feel like,
you know, teams really started buying their identity towards the
second half of the year, and we kind of struggled
with that. I can't give a bunch of details on why,
but yeah, we just didn't really find our identity and
then we just struggled through that later half of the season.

(55:47):
I think that cans last where we were up big
in the fourth quarter and then kind of blew that game.
It really did impact the rest of our season. We
kind of went on a slump after that.

Speaker 4 (55:58):
Mate. We can't wait to see.

Speaker 3 (56:00):
Yeah, here, you're obviously playing NBA one at the moment
over in South Australia. So when do you're likely to
relocate to Tasmania.

Speaker 9 (56:07):
Probably mid July. Me and the missus and the dog
and my son will take the big ship over and yeah,
we'll probably do that.

Speaker 3 (56:15):
In mid July, and I actually during the week, but
at one year deal at this stage, but you said
you might even like to finish your career down here
for all guys.

Speaker 9 (56:22):
Well, yeah, you know the one you deal I'm not
really stressed. I'm pretty confident in my ability to play basketball,
So I'm confident that I'll be able to get another contract.
And you know, if that happens to be in Tazzy,
I'll be excited for that. I have jumped around a
few teams the last last three seasons. You know, before that,
early in my career, I was in Adelaide for four years.

(56:45):
So you know, if I can set up base somewhere,
me and the family would be more than happy to
stay in Tazzi And yeah, play out my career if
I it happened to happen.

Speaker 3 (56:53):
Fantastic stuff, mate. Well, as I said, we're all really
please that you're coming down. I can't wait to see
in action for the mighty Jack Jambers. And thanks very
much for joining us on the show this morning.

Speaker 9 (57:04):
I'm very excited and thanks for having me.

Speaker 3 (57:06):
On Anthony Anthony drink there the new Jack Jump out,
the newest Jack Jumper joining us, and we've got a
couple more domestic spots to feel we've got the development players.
Shawanny mc donald has got one of those spots, and
then a couple more, and then we look at the
imports and we'll reported, so all good news surrounding Milton Doyle.

Speaker 4 (57:22):
Which is what's the latest.

Speaker 3 (57:24):
We're confident he'll be back.

Speaker 4 (57:25):
Yes, we've been confident for about a month now. Bran, Yes,
On's not moving.

Speaker 3 (57:30):
I'm pretty confident it gets done. So yeah, we'll see
what happens. Great to have Anthony on board as well,
and great to talk jack jumpers here on the water Boys.
We've got lots more to come on the show this morning.
In fact, up next we announced the next winner of
our good Sport Award and have a look at some
of the big games happening right around the state this weekend.
That's next on the water Boys Doing it all thanks
to tas Mack, your local Combata dealer.

Speaker 2 (57:50):

Speaker 3 (57:52):

the water Boys with Brancos Hello and Blair Brownis he's.

Speaker 1 (57:58):

a I, a coach, a volunteer, anyone that's doing a
wonderful job in the local sporting community.

Speaker 1 (59:06):
What when, where and why? The water boys. Take a
look at what's happening across the state this weekend.

Speaker 3 (59:11):
Well plenty going on. I want to skip through some
of the big games that are happening across the state.
Will start in the North and the NWFL game of
the Round today will be an absolute beauty at Devnport
over one versus three Devenport. Of course the reigning premier
is hosting Winyards, so that'll be a cracking game. And
then this morning the two teams go head to head
also in the women's competition that's one v three also

(59:33):
Devenport and Winyard, So looking forward to that. NTFA Blarry,
I want to give a shout out to to the
University of Tasmania at footy club celebrating one hundredth anniversary
today versus the East Coast Swansea ininny Over at two o'clock,
so well downe their Premier league. That big game in
the NTFA Premier League.

Speaker 4 (59:48):
Today, Yeah, Bracknell and Longford traditional rivals. Actually have Bracknell
third on at Longford second. This game at Bracknell two pm.
Get along for that one.

Speaker 3 (59:57):
Yeah, looking forward to that. The NTFA W game the
round Old lon Estonians in second spot taking on Lonnie
in fourth at Windsor Park. That's this morning at ten
twenty five am the SFL now Linda's fans. Signet would
typically be game of the round, but the two Bloyes
have dropped there opening two games.

Speaker 4 (01:00:15):
Know Michael Cassidy, the Superstar captain coach, they're just falling
away a little bit. But Signet are always up there
and they are strong again this year, so you think
that Signet might be a little bit too good.

Speaker 5 (01:00:27):
In this game at Enzac Park.

Speaker 4 (01:00:29):
Fair trip to come up to town and also Brighton.
Now I like Brighton and Clean They're on the improve,
aren't they this year they are, which is actually really good.
That punk Field Oval if you've been out there, have
you seen the new grain stead It's incredible and the
changer engine and the club rooms absolutely amazing out there
at punk Field and Brighton On the charge up the
ladder and Save's claim up, which is good to see.

(01:00:50):
It is.

Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
They've had a win earlier in the season only a
couple of weeks ago. Started a couple of weeks ago
at Brighton to a big day for them. They've got
a heritage day, so all of their past players going
back to the club for a function, so they want
to put in a good display against the Pies. Sfl
W Division one that begins next week. But shout out
to the Division three Dodgers Verry Side today playing its

(01:01:11):
very first game.

Speaker 4 (01:01:12):
Very first game. I saw that, yeses against Linda's fan
Anzac Park ten am, so that'd be fantastic and yeah,
great to see Dodges very a new team coming into
the competition.

Speaker 3 (01:01:22):
Absolutely, let's go to the NPL game of the round.
This will be an absolute beauty up at Darcy Street today.
The Devonport Strikers coming down with probably five of their
first choice players out, so you give South but a
pretty big chance of winning this game. Also their one
hundred and thirteenth birthday.

Speaker 4 (01:01:38):
What a history South thirteen years there at Darcy Street.

Speaker 3 (01:01:41):
Amazing.

Speaker 4 (01:01:42):
Well the stand is original.

Speaker 3 (01:01:45):
Well yeah it looks it looks old, so you think
you'd been there for a while. WSL game in the round.
Devonport traveled down the Highway too to take on Clarence
Zebras at Wentworth Park quarter past twelve the safternoon. That'll
be a really good game as well. We've got the
State Club State Cup hockey too. This weekend, so that's
always exciting. The Premier League playing a few midwek matches

(01:02:06):
at the moment to compensate for that. So lots and
lots and lots of sport happening across the state this weekend.
What's on for your couple of days over the weekend.

Speaker 4 (01:02:14):
Actually, I'm off to the Clarence lon Ceston. Actually it'd
be a good game, it'd be a great games. So
that's over at Bluntson Arena and Clarence and the kingbrid
Tigers really liking their chances this year in the competition.
As you know, it's been a closed book for the
last three seasons with Loneston dominating the competition, but a
couple teams in the South really liking their chances this year.

(01:02:35):
So that'll be very interesting to see how Clarence go
against lon Seston.

Speaker 3 (01:02:39):
It was interesting listening to Mitch Thorpe's press conference a
few days ago to see he said we're underdogs. You
don't hear that. I know that's mine games, but it's
come on. They probably are in this game against Clarence.

Speaker 4 (01:02:52):
They've won the last three.

Speaker 3 (01:02:54):
This particular game though, I would have to agree with them.
I reckon Clarence going as far they've got a few out.

Speaker 4 (01:03:00):
But yeah, yeah, interesting. So it's good, isn't It's great
for the competition. It has been dominated, as we said
by in one Sesson.

Speaker 3 (01:03:06):
All right, that is it for us this morning.

Speaker 4 (01:03:08):
We're back.

Speaker 3 (01:03:10):
I'll go and watch the Eagles get smacked this afternoon.
That'll be good fun. And then not much else, to
be honest, at which I'm looking forward to.

Speaker 4 (01:03:18):
You'll be in the garden probably at some point.

Speaker 3 (01:03:21):
I probably will, to be honest.

Speaker 4 (01:03:22):
Yeah, well I've got to do it myself.

Speaker 3 (01:03:26):
Unlike you, I haven't got an empire of businesses that
I can just rely on the.

Speaker 4 (01:03:31):
Cash to pay in the Pavilian sports, but I got
to go.

Speaker 3 (01:03:36):
That is it for the water Boys Saturday morning for
more fun and provality.
