SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Hi, this is Middle
Roger, Steve Pelletier, and I am
the Weatherman.
Thanks for checking into theWeathermanpod.com on your
Saturday, and this is a specialSaturday afternoon, Saturday
evening report.
We uh updated you earlier todayand uh told you that we're gonna
be talking to you again thisafternoon because of the
development of this coastal lowpressure system.
Biggest problem with this systemuh is the strong easterly wind
(00:20):
that's gonna be to the north ofthe center.
Now, the center during thedaytime today is located or
expected to be located just offthe outer banks of North
Carolina.
Your strongest winds are gonnabe from Delmarva across to South
Jersey and up through LongIsland and coastal southern New
England.
And that's where you're going tohave coastal flooding and
excessive high tides, times ofhigh tides.
(00:41):
Those high tides probably areoccurring between 1 and 3 a.m.
in the morning and between 2 and4 p.m.
in the afternoon on Sunday andMonday.
So keep that in mind.
Leading up to those high tides, that's when you're going to have
uh the possibility of thatflooding rushing in very
quickly.
A strong east by northeast wind.
Some of the gusts will be up toabout 40 nuts offshore.
(01:03):
And of course, with that inmind, it is sort of like a
semi-uh tropical or subtropicalsystem.
Either way, it's just going tobe a rainy day on Sunday night
and Monday night.
We have uh coastal floodwarnings in effect for Sunday
and Monday.
So keep that in mind as well.
This is again for theMid-Atlantic and Northeast.
The main area of concern isDelmarva, uh, New Jersey coast,
(01:25):
Long Island coast, and coastalsouthern New England.
Uh that includes, of course, theislands, the Cape Massachusetts
Islands, and the Cape as well.
So uh weather-wise, it's justgoing to be uh clouds and some
drizzle and showers on Saturdayin the Northeast.
And heavier rainfall moves inlater Sunday and through Monday,
but it could be between one andthree inches of rainfall from
(01:46):
the system.
Of course, it always depends onthe exact development and
tracking, and we'll be updatingyou on Sunday as well.
So, as mentioned, as we're uhlooking, if you are traveling
today, the weather does lookgood on Saturday and Saturday
evening for the New York area.
Of course, the other problemsare, of course, the not only
they're not really realisticallyslowdowns because you know a lot
(02:07):
of folks are uh uh just tryingto work extra hard at the
National Weather Service.
These guys are federal employeesand they work shift work 24
hours a day.
Somebody's there covering thissituation, and they do that uh
from the beginning of theircareer, usually to the end of
the career.
Similar situation, of course, with the most important the FAA
tower and radar personnel.
(02:30):
Uh keeping our airlines safe uhby uh keeping good separation,
of course, uh watching out forbad weather situations too.
So uh uh our uh thanks go out tothem as well.
But it does look good inAtlanta, an improving trend for
South Florida, decent weather inChicago, West Coast looking
good, except for the PacificNorthwest, where rain is going
(02:51):
to be occurring in Portland andSeattle.
I'm in your model, StevePelletier, and I am the
weatherman.
We'll have an update for Sundaymorning and we'll probably
update you again Sundayafternoon.
Until then, hope you have a goodday.
See you then.
