Speaker 0 (00:00):
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier
and I'm the weatherman.
Thanks for checking in totheweathermanpodcom on your
Tuesday, 24th day in the monthof June and the extreme heat
warning continues for thenortheast right up and through
Wednesday.
Now we do see a frontal systemworking its way out of the Great
Lakes.
It's going to cross intocentral Pennsylvania, central
New Jersey, probably passthrough much of New York State

(00:23):
and probably go right over thecity.
That's going to set up a littlebit of an east flow and may
break some of the heat, but tothe south it's going to be hot.
To the north it's a questionmark by later in the day on
Tuesday and Wednesday.
As a matter of fact, by thetime we get to Thursday of this
week, that frontal system willeventually move offshore into
the east and high pressurecurrently across the western
Great Lakes will start to buildinto the region and we get back

(00:45):
into more normal weatherpatterns as we end the month of
June.
As a matter of fact, we'regoing to get into the increased
chance of scattered showers andthunderstorms by Friday, with
temperatures in the 70s and alsohighs only generally of about
85 to 90 for Sunday and Mondayof next week, each day with the
possibility of somethunderstorms as that Bermuda

(01:05):
High sets up along the easternseaboard.
But as for today, with hightemperatures close to 100 in
many of the major cities acrossthe northeast and on Wednesday
with temperatures in the mid toupper 90s and the possibility of
those thunderstorms, with thatfrontal system arriving in the
area later in the day onWednesday, even into Thursday,
the possibility of some showers,as temperatures on Thursday

(01:26):
hover only in the upper 80sbecause of the extra cloud cover
and also some scattered showers.
If you are traveling on thisTuesday it looks like hot but
dry weather in Atlanta, somescattered showers and
thunderstorms during theafternoon in Charlotte, but
nothing major.
Also dry weather in the NewYork Newark area.
No problems for Newark, jfk andLaGuardia as far as the

(01:50):
thunderstorms or low clouds areconcerned.
But because of the extreme heatit takes planes a little bit
longer to get off the runway andget into the air because of
what's called the densityaltitude.
When it gets hotter there'sless air under the wings to
cause lift and of course thattends to slow things down just a
bit.
And that's what you can beexpecting in those places,
especially for takeoff landings.

(02:12):
Generally no problems there.
Also in the Boston area lookingat the possibility of some heat
and humidity Low to mid-90sexpected for Boston, all with
fair skies.
If you're heading towards Texas, it looks like Dallas will be
fine, but it looks like showersand thunderstorms in the Houston
area.
Overcast and rainy in Chicago, the frontal system hanging up

(02:32):
just south of the area, so therewill be some locally severe
weather and some delays intoeither Midway or O'Hare.
It looks like dry conditionsout in Minneapolis, st Paul and
much of California, all underfair conditions.
Portland looking fair Lookslike some rainy weather.
Moving back in to SeattleTacoma later in the day on
Tuesday I'm Eddie Ronson, stevePelletier and I'm the weatherman

(02:52):
.
Heat and humidity a hot onetoday, as temperatures range
close to 100 degrees.
Heat index values up to 108.
That's a combination of heatand humidity and sunshine.
Keep yourself cool and wellhydrated with water and seek the
shade air conditioning wheneveryou can get it.
Don't exert yourself in theafternoon sun.

(03:12):
I'm Steve Pelletieri.
Talk to you first thingtomorrow.
Take care.
