Speaker 0 (00:00):
Hi, this is
meteorologist Steve Pelletier
and I'm the weatherman.
Thanks for checking in totheweathermanpodcom on your
Saturday, 21st day of the monthof June 2025.
We have the first full day ofsummertime, the summer solstice
occurring during the eveninghours on Friday.
And boy I'll tell you, afterhaving generally benign weather
(00:20):
or actually even cool kind ofdamp weather for the early
portion of June, and thengradually heating up in the east
, it's been very hot across theMidwest and northern Plain
States.
Eventually, now that's movingto the east, it looks like
summer is going to come in witha real strong push.
Over the next several dayswe're going to have excessive
heat warnings and heatadvisories to continue, probably
(00:42):
right up and through Wednesdayand Thursday.
This will be from DC right upto the Boston area and many
places across the nation'smidsection to the east.
Our temperatures will be wellabove normal over the next
several days.
Today, though, not too bad forthe northeast.
There is a slight chance of alate day or evening
thundershower on Saturday.
Otherwise just sunny weatherfrom DC up to Boston,
(01:05):
temperatures varying between the80s in Boston to about 90 in
New York City, 93, 94, baltimoreand DC, and then on Sunday,
temperatures back into the midto upper 90s.
Monday it'll range to near 100to 105.
And that'll be for all themajor cities across the eastern
seaboard and into the Midwest.
And it looks like the heatindex values, which is a
combination of temperature andhumidity, will be up there
(01:27):
around 105 as we head towardsTuesday and Wednesday of this
week.
Now we do see some frontalsystems that are trying to push
on through towards the end ofthis week and that hopefully
will bring us out of the heatwave, but it is going to be
about four very brutal days, theworst of which being Monday,
tuesday and Wednesday, withexcessive heat and humidity
across the Northeast.
(01:48):
If you are, however, travelingon this Saturday, looking at
pretty good weather in theAtlanta area.
Also in Charlotte, no problemsweather-wise there, except for
just temperatures near 90 andfair skies.
It looks like decent conditionsin New York City, except for
the possibility of maybe somethunderstorms at night.
Boston also looking pretty goodDry but hot weather in Chicago.
(02:08):
Hot in Houston and Dallas-FortWorth, but dry St Louis.
About the same West Coastshowing dry conditions in San
Diego, los Angeles and SanFrancisco, but rainy weather
across the Pacific Northwest, from Portland to Seattle,
extending all the way intowestern Montana and the northern
portions of the Dakotas.
I'm your host, steve Pelletier, and I'm the weatherman.
Hope you have a great Saturday.
(02:29):
Get set for sweat.
It's going to be hot in thenortheast over the next several
days.
Today highs near 90, but wellinto the 90s near 100 on Sunday,
right up through Monday andTuesday and possibly even
Wednesday of this upcoming week.
Take care, talk to you firstthing tomorrow.
