Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hi, this is
meteorologist Steve Pelletier
and I'm the Weatherman.
Thanks for checking in totheweathermanpodcom on your
Monday, 23rd day of the month ofJune 2025.
And an area of thunderstormsworked its way out of central
and eastern New York State rightdown into the lower Hudson
Valley and then across into NewJersey, new York City and
Philadelphia.
And, because of the extra cloudcover and thunderstorms that we
(00:22):
had during the morning hours, from a little upper level
disturbance that swung onthrough our temperatures today
did not get as warm, only in themid to upper 80s, actually, I
should say on sunday.
Now today, however, theexcessive heat warning will
remain in effect for thenortheast corner, from richmond
all the way up to boston, westward out into the ohio and
tenn valleys and southwardthrough the Carolinas.
(00:44):
Temperatures are expected torange well into the 90s to near
100 degrees.
Tomorrow in the lower 100s, 100to 105.
And even on Wednesday with aslight chance of a late-day
thunderstorm.
Highs of around 98, shouldbreak the heat wave on Wednesday
, because we are going to seetemperatures just a touch cooler
(01:05):
, near 90, on Thursday, and thenon Friday, saturday and Sunday
only in the 80s, with a chanceof some scattered showers and
thunderstorms each day, that'sagain across the northeast
corridor.
So we've got some very hotweather expected over the next
several days.
Drink plenty of fluids.
Avoid being out in directsunlight between the hours of 10
am and 6 pm.
(01:27):
Before that, not too bad, afterthat still hot, but at least
you don't have the heavysunshine.
And, of course, make sure youdrink plenty of fluids.
We're looking at water and alsonon-alcoholic beverages.
That's the best way to keephydrated in this type of weather
situation.
The next several days Don'texert yourself, especially in
the afternoon hours when thetemperatures and the heat
(01:50):
indexes are the highest.
Heat index is a combination ofheat and humidity and the worst
of it probably going to be onTuesday and maybe even Wednesday
of this upcoming week.
Now, if you are traveling onthis Monday, expect your weather
situation to be well about thesame as it has been the last
several days Scattered showersand thunderstorms across South
Florida.
Dry in Atlanta, but hot Also.
(02:12):
Maybe a late-day thundershowerin Charlotte, but hot.
New York City, boston all dryand hot.
Temperatures in the upper 90slower 100s.
Looks like an approachingfrontal system will give some
extra clouds to the Chicago area, but they'll probably have some
showers and thunderstorms onMonday evening.
Early Tuesday Dry, a little bitcooler, more reasonable and
seasonable up into Minneapolis,st Paul Showers and
(02:35):
thunderstorms in Houston andDallas-Fort Worth.
West Coast dry, la, sanFrancisco, even Portland and
Seattle probably going to be alittle bit of a drying trend
after the very wet pattern thatthey've had over the last
several days, and it actuallyresulted in the mountains of
Montana of about between sixinches and 12 inches of snow in
(02:56):
some of those higher elevationsin western Montana.
That's because of colder airmoving down from central Canada
and lots of moisture, but that'salso going to start warming up
around there over the nextseveral days as well.
I'm your manager, stevePilatarian.
I am the weatherman.
Hope you have a great day today.
Talk to you first thing onTuesday.
Again, if you're going to beoutdoors, make sure you take it
slow and easy.
Dress appropriatelyLight-fitting clothing and
(03:18):
loose-fitting clothing of lightmaterial and light color the
best and do not exert yourself.
Drink plenty of water.
Get through this heat wave overthe next several days.
I'm Steve Pelletieri.
Talk to you tomorrow.
Take care.
