Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier
and I am the Weatherman.
Thanks for checking intotheweathermanpodcom On your
Sunday.
It is the 20th of July 2025.
Two-thirds of the way throughthis month.
Let's take a quick look around.
What's going on?
Dc up to Philadelphia, new YorkCity and even up to the Boston
area, temperatures are averagingabout 1.

(00:23):
Half to two degrees abovenormal.
I can't go by Newark LibertyInternational Airport.
When they changed where theirthermometer is and all their
weather packs were, they're upusually by the north terminal
years ago.
Now it's sort of like rightalong the Jersey Turnpike and
you got what?
12 lanes of cars going north tosouth and around that area.
So it's a different type ofclimate there.

(00:45):
So they're showing four degreesabove normal.
It's four degrees above whatthey used to be.
When they consider the normalfor Newark International Airport
, of course it is also a littlebit on the hot side there, but
basically most precipitation isa little bit above normal.
There are a few places that didnot get the big storms of July
14th.
July 14th was an interestingday.

(01:07):
We saw some places in northernNew Jersey where the amounts of
rainfall were about less thanhalf an inch.
Similar situation in southeastNew York and much of southern
New England.
However, new York City got twoinches of rain, about two and a
half inches in the Newark area, union County.
Many places in Union County, new Jersey, received between

(01:29):
four and six inches of rainduring the later afternoon and
evening hours.
It caused widespread flashflooding.
That was on the 14th of Julyand so far this month.
So you're finding that mostrainfall amounts are a little
bit above normal.
We do have some great weathercoming up over the next couple
of days, actually the nextseveral days.
However, we do have a frontalsystem moving through today.

(01:51):
That frontal system is alignedacross the central and northern
Ohio Valley, extending downthrough the central Mississippi
River Valley, with a little areaof low pressure.
But the high pressure that'spushing it our way is located
just north of the Great Lakes.
The high pressure that'spushing it our way is located
just north of the Great Lakes, just north of Sault Ste Marie,
in southern portions ofSaskatchewan and southern

(02:11):
Ontario, and it's pushingtowards the east, southeast, and
will continue to move righttowards us, probably passing
over New York State and southernNew England over the next
several days.
But it does mean drierconditions, more comfortable
weather on Monday and Tuesday, but first a hot day today 90 to
95 in Philly, new York.
Up in the Boston area, probablycloser to about 88.

(02:32):
Dc could get up to about 93.
Late day and evening.
Thunderstorms are likely onyour Sunday, but overnight it
will clear.
Temperatures will drop backinto the 60s.
You'll notice the difference onMonday and Tuesday.
Remember the 4th of July thisyear?
We had some excellent weatheraround the Northeast.
Similar situation coming up forMonday and Tuesday Low humidity
, bright sunshine, fair weather, clouds, northwest winds Just

(02:54):
perfect July weather coming ourway that starts to heat up by
later Wednesday and Thursday.
It'll be back into the 90s.
Thursday and Friday this week.
Maybe another frontal systemworking its way through on
Saturday of this upcoming weekand that should set the stage
for some nice weather.
Second half of the weekend andthe early last few days of the
month of July.
We're getting close to that andonly 10 more days.

(03:15):
11 more days left to the monthof July and it's going fast.
But we've got some greatweather coming.
If you are flying today, it doeslook like the frontal system is
going to be past Chicago.
It had some showers andthunderstorms earlier today, but
it looks like another round forthe early morning today and
then a clearing trend in theafternoon.
Fair weather up in Minneapolis,st Paul, not too bad.

(03:37):
Down in Florida, atlanta isgoing to have some thunderstorms
, some delays into their NewYork area.
Probably no delays early, butlate in the day and at night
there'll be some showers andthunderstorms and it'll slow
things down into Newark, laguardia and JFK.
Up in the Boston area, overcastand some rainy weather there.
So that's going to cause somedelays.
Up in Boston, houston, dry.
Dallas-fort Worth hot and dry,dry weather into LA, san Diego,

(04:01):
san Francisco, even though a lowpressure is approaching the
Pacific Northwest, just a lot ofcloud cover.
Dry conditions for today inPortland and Seattle.
I'm your moderator, stevePelletier, and I am the
weatherman.
Hope you have a great day today.
Look forward to that greatweather on Monday and Tuesday of
this week.
See you then.
