Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, this is
meteorologist Steve Pelletier
and I am the weatherman.
Thanks for checking intotheweathermanpodcom on Wednesday
, 24th day of the month ofSeptember 2025.
Going very quickly.
This month so far, averagetemperatures across the
northeast have been pretty closeto normal.
The amount of rainfall in thenortheast has been below normal
and we're going to see a littlebit of a change in that over the
(00:22):
next couple of days.
Big area of low pressure that'soff to the east and a series of
weaker low pressure systemsalong the stationary front
pretty close by are going tokeep us in cloud cover from DC
up to the Boston area during thedaytime today, tonight and also
on Thursday.
By Friday high pressure startsto build into the region.
It looks like it probably willbring us some decent weather for
(00:45):
this upcoming weekend.
But, as mentioned for today, itdoes look like lots of cloud
cover and there'll be somebreaks in the overcast, driving
temperatures back up to near the80, 85 degree range, which is
above normal by about 5 degrees.
But heavy showers andthunderstorms are likely to
develop in the later afternoonand during the evening.
We had those on Tuesday eveningsome scattered thunderstorms
(01:06):
across the northeast.
They are now regeneratingacross a series of frontal
systems almost stationary fromthe eastern Great Lakes right to
the eastern seaboard, includingNew York Boston area, also down
to Baltimore and DC.
Another frontal system expectedto work its way out of east
Texas and moving through thecentral Mississippi River Valley
will slowly, gradually trudgeon through the eastern seaboard
(01:30):
over the next 48 hours.
It'll take that long.
So look for clouds today andthe possibility of some showers
and some thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and
evening.
The temperature trends will beabove normal for today and for
tomorrow, however, back to nearnormal as we head towards Friday
and this upcoming weekend.
So maybe some dry weather forthe weekend, but it does look
like some much-needed rainfallfor your Wednesday and Thursday.
(01:52):
From DC to Boston.
Today.
Our look at our aviationweather situation across the
nation Atlanta not too bad, although most of the heavy
showers are across the centralMississippi River Valley.
So the heavy showers across thecentral Mississippi River
Valley.
It's going to cause somelocally severe weather extending
from Ohio down through Kentucky, tennessee and into northern
sections of Alabama, mississippiand Louisiana, even seeing some
(02:14):
heavy frontal system actionmoving in through east Texas.
That'll be causing problemsdown in Houston and, to a lesser
extent, dallas-fort Worth.
The Chicago area looks likeit's going to try to clear out
just a bit Central and southernFlorida some scattered
thunderstorms, but nothing major.
And it does look like dryweather for San Diego and LA,
but some rainy weather nowmoving into the middle and
(02:34):
northern portion of California, including Sacramento and San
Diego, excuse me and SanFrancisco.
It's especially off towards thenorth with another frontal
system working its way throughPortland and Seattle.
That's where you're going to begetting a possibility of some
scattered showers with that coldfront during the daytime today
and for the evening and earlymorning on Thursday as well.
(02:54):
So no problems into Atlanta.
There will be some showers andthunderstorms and delays in the
mid-Atlantic and northeast onWednesday night and on Thursday.
So if you're traveling on thosedays, expect the possibility of
either delays or even somecancellations because of the
possibility of some locallysevere weather from place to
place in the east during thedaytime on Thursday.
(03:16):
I'm Eddie Ron, just StevePelletier, and I am the
weatherman.
Hope you have a great day today.
Talk to you first thing onThursday.
See you then.
