Speaker 0 (00:00):
Hi, this is
meteorologist Steve Pelletieri
and I am the weatherman.
Thanks for checking intoweathermanpodcom.
On this Sunday.
It's the first day of June 2025.
And boy, we had a lot of rainaround the eastern seaboard
yesterday, especially during theovernight hours Friday into
Saturday.
In some places there was overtwo to four inches of rainfall.
And that brings the totalamount of rain for the month of
(00:22):
May from DC up to the Bostonarea above normal by about 2 to
4 inches, up to as much as 7inches.
Haven't had that much rainduring the month of May since
about maybe 21, 22.
And we've also had times in thepast where we've had heavy
amounts of rainfall the all-timegreatest amount back in 1978,
(00:42):
the month of May then Almost 10inches of rain in many places
across the eastern seaboard.
But now that's all behind us.
It's the first day of June.
What is so rare as a day inJune?
Well, it's not going to be thatgreat today.
We are starting off with clearskies but cool conditions.
But as the day wears on we'llhave some fair weather.
Clouds develop during theafternoon.
High pressure building in fromthe Tennessee and the Ohio
valleysalleys means some prettynice weather for us for today,
(01:05):
but temperatures will only rangein the 60s.
North there's still going to besome showers across central and
northern New York State, butalso in the south we'll have
fair skies but with cooltemperatures near 70 degrees.
Fair weather.
Clouds during the afternoonwill make it overcast on your
Sunday, but it looks like skieswill clear tonight and again
another cool overnight period.
Back to some great weather forMonday, tuesday, wednesday and
(01:27):
even Thursday and magicallywe're going to be into
summertime.
Temperatures will get close to90 in many cities like Baltimore
, philadelphia, new York CitySometime by later Wednesday,
thursday and Friday of this week.
Maybe a frontal system movingthrough towards the end of the
week and that could bring in amore normal weather pattern.
But up until then, starting offfair and cool, ending up very
(01:48):
mild and dry right up throughthe end of this first week in
the month of June.
If you're flying today.
Well, it looks like Atlantawill be pretty good.
No problems weather-wise inCharlotte, although there will
be a stationary front there.
There will be some cloud coverbut no major weather and it
looks like scattered showers andthunderstorms central and south
Florida, so that could slowthings down a little bit there.
Fair skies in New York City, also fair up in the Boston area,
(02:11):
but windy, so that'll slowthings down by about an hour or
two if you're going in and outof those places.
Fair skies in Chicago, someclouds and fog in Minneapolis.
St Paul, maybe a shower or two.
Also some showers in Houstonand Dallas-Fort Worth.
Dry weather, however, incentral and southern California.
Upper-level low-pressuresystems swinging across San
Francisco.
That'll keep some clouds inthere Also.
(02:32):
Variably cloudy conditions forPortland and Seattle, with
temperatures a little bit belownormal for this time of year,
but no major problemsweather-wise flying in and out
of the West Coast for today orfor tomorrow as well.
I'm meteorologist, stevePelletier.
