Speaker 0 (00:00):
Hi, this is
meteorologist Steve Pelletier
and I am the Weatherman.
Thanks for checking in totheweathermanpodcom on your
Wednesday, sixth day of themonth of August 2025.
Almost through that first weekof the month of August already,
and well, it looks like theweather situation has gone dry,
especially across the Northeast.
Also quite smoky too.
The haze and the smokecontinues from the Canadian
(00:21):
wildfires from Manitoba provinceand many of the other provinces
is central and northernportions of Alberta as well, and
it comes down out of anorthwesterly flow because the
winds aloft are basically in thenorthwest, so staying at the
higher levels, causing a lot ofhaze and hazy sun aloft for much
of the mid-Atlantic andnortheast, even though
temperatures today will reachthe middle 80s.
(00:42):
Expecting Expecting hazy andmuggy conditions from DC up to
the Boston area.
Today and for tonight it'll bepartly cloudy with a little
frontal system, a little troughmoving through, but it looks
like it's basically dry.
So you're looking at nighttimelows in the middle 60s, again
still smoky and hazy through theovernight hours.
Daytime for tomorrow look formore of the same, but a little
bit more sunshine as highpressure establishes along the
(01:03):
eastern seaboard and we're goingto have generally fair
conditions with temperatures ofabout 80 to 85 on Thursday, also
mid-80s on Friday Into theweekend.
The dry weather trend doescontinue in the upper 80s on
Saturday, near 90 to 95 expectedfor Sunday of this upcoming
weekend.
So we are going to get backinto some of that heat and
(01:24):
humidity as we head towardssecond half of the weekend and
even into early next week, although we do see a few series
of frontal systems movingthrough this month of August.
Usually you're going to find a4-degree temperature drop from
the beginning of the month tothe end.
As far as averages areconcerned, for example, in New
York City the average high is 86on the 1st of August.
It's down to about 82 for anaverage high on the last day of
(01:46):
August.
Nighttime lows also about thesame, generally around 68 early
in the month and then down toabout 62, 63 later on in the
month.
That's because we're gettingless and less sunshine each and
every day, but the upper-levelwind patterns and the type of
weather situation that we're incontinues to show dry weather
for the most part right over thenext several days into about
(02:09):
the middle of next week.
Not so across the southeasternUnited States If you're
traveling.
A lot of folks have beencomplaining about the delays in
and out of Atlanta and Charlotte.
Atlanta busiest airport in theworld, in the United States also
, of course, but any areas ofshowers and thunderstorms that
go into that impact a lot of theflights inbound.
Well, they can't makeconnections.
So you're going to have aneffect all across the nation of
(02:31):
everything getting all at leastdelayed because of weather in
Atlanta and in Charlotte, twomajor hubs there.
Looking at dry weather inHouston and Dallas also smoky
but dry in the Chicago area, newYork, newark area yeah, there
has been a lot of delays inthere.
It's been very hazy, it's beenvery smoky.
So look for some delays in andaround there because of lower
(02:53):
visibility and some slightweather or visibility-related
conditions.
And as we look towards the WestCoast, it does look smoky.
Also in Central and SouthernCalifornia because of wildfires
there.
San Diego and LA going to bedry, but it's going to be also
smoky, looks like dry weather inSacramento, some rain moving in
to the Pacific Northwest andPortland, and also in Seattle.
(03:17):
South Florida also scatteredshowers and thunderstorms, but
nothing much.
Pretty typical for this time ofyear.
I'm your host, steve Pilatiri, and I'm the weatherman.
Hope you have a great day today.
