Speaker 0 (00:01):
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier
and I am the weatherman.
Thanks for checking intotheweathermanpodcom on your
Tuesday, fifth day of the monthof August 2025.
And it looks like that haze andsmoke from the Canadian
wildfires, mainly up in Manitoba, starting to spread across the
Great Lakes and starting to showsigns of being into New York

(00:21):
State, southern New England.
We see signs of it all acrosseastern New York, from the
Adirondacks all the way down tothe Catskills and extending into
central and northern New Jersey, northeastern Pennsylvania,
where the air quality has beenon the light side.
Actually, the winds are verylight and variable.
When you have light andvariable winds, no mixing in the
lower atmosphere and even ozonelevels for this time of year
start to creep up without any ofthat low-level mixing.

(00:43):
So, along the Jersey Shore, coastal Long Island, cape Cod
and coastal Maine, even downinto Delmarva Peninsula and
coastal Virginia, north Carolina, that little bit of an east
flow will keep their winds onthe light side, between 5 and 10
knots and keeping it a littlebit cooler at the beaches.
However, there is that haze inthe loft and it's cutting in on
the amount of sunshine that wedo receive.

(01:04):
Either way, temperatures willstill manage to get in the 80s
and the lower 90s today andwe're expecting generally fair
to partly cloudy conditions hazyovernight and smoky in some
places, with nighttime lows downinto the mid to upper 60s and
more of the same for tomorrowMore haze and cloud cover.
Temperatures range into themiddle 80s.
On Wednesday A weather frontwill be moving through, although

(01:26):
very light, just reinforcinghigh pressure and a little patch
of some drier, slightly coolerair will be arriving on Thursday
, but highs tomorrow in the mid80s, lower 80s expected for
Thursday and Friday 80 to 85.
We start to warm up though aswe head into the weekend.
Both Saturday and Sunday 80s tonear 90 are expected.
If you're flying today it lookslike we've got some rainy

(01:47):
weather still down in Atlanta.
That stationary front is fromEast Texas right along the Gulf
Coast of Louisiana, alabama, mississippi and North Florida.
That area is going to causemore showers and thunderstorms
Also across sections of western, north and south Carolina.
So that means Charlotte will beimpacted by that and it looks

(02:07):
like Houston will have somelight showers, but dry in
Dallas-Fort Worth, chicago, justsmoky there from those Canadian
Manitoba wildfires and alsoclouds and some showers, maybe
some cleansing rains acrosscentral and northern Minnesota
and up in Minnesota, atMinneapolis-St Paul, lots of
clouds, maybe a shower or twothere as well.
Central and South Florida alsoshowing showers and

(02:29):
thunderstorms, mainly during theafternoon at typical times.
No major problems with that.
It looks dry also in San Diegoand LA, but with their own smoke
and wildfire problems they'recausing low-level pollution
problems to be at maximum leveland very unhealthy Unhealthy
also in the central Californiabasin.
But up in San Francisco alittle bit of a slightly

(02:51):
south-southeast flow will keepthe weather situation dry, but
also a bit on the humid side.
It looks like some showersmoving into Portland and Seattle
.
I'm your man, justine Pelletier, and I am the weatherman.
Hope you have a great day today.
