Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, this is video
author Steve Pelletier and I'm
the weatherman.
Thanks for checking intotheweathermanpodcom on your
Friday.
It's the 15th day, the Ides, ofAugust, and we're looking
halfway through the month andit's a month that's been a
little bit above normaltemperature-wise across the
northeast part of it, very lowon precip.
The amount of rainfall we'vehad in many places less than an
inch in most areas, and it doeslook like we might see a few
(00:22):
showers or a thunderstorm laterSunday.
That could be a little bit moreintense, but a few isolated and
scattered showers, likelyespecially across from
Philadelphia down to Wilmington, baltimore and then down into DC
during this afternoon as well.
But it does look a little bitdrier as you head further off to
the north.
First, an update on Erin it'sstill a tropical storm becoming
a hurricane today.
(00:42):
On Erin, it's still a tropicalstorm becoming a hurricane today
, as winds last evening werealready up to 60 miles per hour
70 miles per hour, actually 60knots, and that means that
moving to become a hurricaneover the next 12 hours was a
sure bet.
And the storm continues to movetowards the west and northwest
at 15 miles per hour and itlooks like it's going to stay
(01:04):
offshore.
Just take a look at the latesteuropean model as far as
tracking is concerned.
It'll probably be due east ofhatteras, north carolina, by a
good safe margin, almost athousand miles, uh, by sometime
on thursday of next week oneweek from today, actually, or
one week from yesterday and itdoes look like it will be
turning up the atlantic quite abit.
It's higher tides and roughseas.
(01:27):
However, it does look like itwill be churning up the Atlantic
quite a bit Higher tides andrough seas.
However, it does look like itwill stay offshore.
So that's good news as far asErin is concerned, to be on the
hurricane and then a majorhurricane as it will be out in
the Atlantic.
Our weather situation for theNortheast Carter looking at
partly sunny skies today, with achance of an isolated shower
here and there, especially south, as I mentioned.
Temperatures ranging in the 80sto near 90s.
(01:47):
Probably not as warm, but ithas been getting up to near 90s
about every day over the lastseveral days.
Temperatures on Saturdayholding in the 80s, but a good
deal of sunshine as highpressure builds in from the
northwest and it does look likeanother frontal system arriving
on Sunday.
Of course, some heavythunderstorms across New York
State and southern New EnglandSunday afternoon, sunday evening
arriving in the east andthrough New York City,
(02:08):
philadelphia and Baltimore,probably sometime overnight
Sunday into Monday.
Then we get into some drier andseasonably nice weather as we
head into the middle of nextweek.
Still a bit on the warm side tostart, but then cooling back to
near normal.
Normal temperatures this timeof year should be a high of
about 82.
Nighttime lows should be downto around 70.
And we have been significantlyabove that over the last several
(02:30):
days.
If you are flying today, itlooks like the weather situation
is a little bit better alongthe eastern sea where there are
a few light showers around.
I don't think it's going tocause any major problems.
In the New York area Newark, new York, laguardia, jfk you end
up nice slipping out in theWestchester area it doesn't look
too bad.
There will be some scatteredshowers and thunderstorms in
Baltimore and Philadelphia aswell, but again on the lighter
side during the afternoon hours.
(02:52):
Atlanta looks like it's better, just a slight shower and
thunderstorm action in Charlotte.
Also, central and south Floridalooking better.
Maybe the west coast a littlebit more thunderstorm action as
that trend continues.
Houston's looking generally drybut hot.
Dallas-fort Worth.
Hazy, hot and humid all the wayup into Oklahoma.
Looks like dry weather inChicago, but rainy conditions in
Minneapolis, st Paul, and itlooks like rainy conditions.
(03:13):
The monsoons continue acrossthe four corners.
It looks like fair, dryconditions, but warm LA.
San Diego, north of SanFrancisco, but rainy weather
Moving in to Portland andSeattle later today.
I'm your manager, stevePelletieri, and I'm the
weatherman.
Hope you have a great day today.

Morrison's report that Inarrated on yesterday when two
