Speaker 0 (00:00):
Hi, this is
meteorologist Steve Pelletieria
and I am the weatherman.
Thanks for checking in totheweathermanpodcom.
On your Friday.
It is the 20th day the month ofJune.
We've made it to the first dayof summer.
Summer solstice officiallyoccurs at 1041, 1042 this
evening, representing the highpoint of the sun wherever it is
(00:21):
at high point somewhere over thePacific, and we're looking at
generally fair conditions butincreasingly milder weather as
we head through this weekend.
And boy, it just starts summer.
And the next thing you know yougot a heat wave to contend with
across the northeast and thatheat wave will cause
temperatures to be near 100degrees monday, tuesday,
possibly even wednesday of nextweek, with an increasing chance
(00:44):
of some scattered showers andthunderstorms by the time we get
to the middle of next week aswell.
But here's a weather situationfor the Northeast corridor on
your Friday.
It looks like sunny skies, 80to 85.
Actually, sunny is going to bethe best day weather-wise for
the next week, I would imagine, because it just starts to heat
up and get more humidity andmore oppressive heat for the
(01:05):
area.
This is going to be between DCand up the Boston area.
At night it'll be fairly partlycloudy as summer arrives.
Overnight temperatures back toabout the mid-60s and our highs
tomorrow upper 80s, lower 90sacross the Northeast and at
night it'll be fair back to themid-60s, although there will be
some scattered showers andthunderstorms moving down
through New York State intosouthern New England.
(01:26):
It'll be Saturday night, earlySunday, but that basically
represents a little warm front,Actually a very big warm front
because it's going to get hot onSunday highs mid-90s for the
most part, near 100 degrees insome of the cities and it looks
like near 100 on Monday, Tuesdayand possibly even Wednesday.
By Wednesday of this upcomingweek we get into the chance of
(01:46):
some scattered showers and somethunderstorms.
Again, that's going to beprobably around midweek of the
upcoming week as we come to theend or at least the last few
days of this month of June.
If you're flying today, it lookslike we've got great weather
into the New York area as thefrontal systems have gone
through.
There are some showers uparound Buffalo, western New York
(02:07):
and over Lake Erie, includingErie, Pennsylvania, and sections
around Cleveland and Cleveland.
To the north, Detroit alsogoing to have scattered showers
and thunderstorms, as willMinneapolis-St Paul and also in
Milwaukee, but Chicago's lookingdry but hot and scattered
showers and thunderstorms incentral and south Florida, but
mostly during the laterafternoon and early evening
(02:30):
Generally fair conditions atHouston and Dallas, Although
there could be a few scatteredshowers, but nothing much.
But the heat is going to beoppressive across the central
Mississippi River Valley In the90s to near 100 or the lower
100s, All because of the heatpump that's going to be
continuing to move graduallyeastward over the next several
days.
Weather-wise it's essential inSouthern California.
No problems weather-wise there, and it does look like some
(02:53):
rainy weather up in Portland andSeattle and that will probably
continue in through Saturday aswell.
So no major problems.
As far as traveling isconcerned, you see that most of
the heaviest weather is going tobe around just to the north of
Minneapolis-St Paul Also, ofcourse, essential on northern
Great Lakes, North Dakota,Montana, Idaho and Washington
State, and it just looks likejust heat continues across the
(03:16):
nation's midsection rightthrough early next week.
I'm Eddie Ron, just StevePelletier, and I'm the
Weatherman.
Hope you have a great day today.
Talk to you.
