Speaker 0 (00:00):
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier
and I'm the weatherman.
Thanks for checking in totheweathermanpodcom on your
Friday.
It is the sixth day of thesixth month of 2025 already and
we're already intometeorological summertime.
That's because the sun risesearly, sets late, goes high into
the sky and over the northernportion of Washington State,

(00:20):
montana, northern Idaho, northDakota, minnesotanesota and even
the northern great lakes.
The sun sets quite late becauseof uh well, during the northern
latitudes, that's where the sunis almost at 24 hours of
sunshine up around the arcticcircle and further closer that
you get to the arctic circle, that means that the sun sets

(00:42):
later and rises earlier 24 hoursof sunshine up at the North
Pole, north of the Arctic Circle.
And while that really means alot really heats up central and
northern Canada and the cool airthat usually comes down from
there doesn't really make it,it's the warm southwestern
leaves that take over and we getinto easy, hot and humid
conditions by the time we getinto the dog days of summer
later in July and August andthat's coming up quickly.

(01:09):
In the meantime, we haveanother hazy and humid day from
DC to the Boston area with achance just a slight chance of a
shower or a thunder showerduring the daylight hours.
Most of it will hold off intothe latter portion of the day
and the evening.
We have been watching that areaof low pressure that's been off
the coast of Florida and Georgiabut it's drifting slowly to the
north and northeast.
It may bring some steadierrainfall to coastal North
Carolina and Virginia and evencentral and southern Delmarva.

(01:30):
However, it looks like it staysto the south.
It does inject a lot of cloudcover in our skies.
So southern New Jersey mightget some extra cloud cover, say
at Brigantine, atlantic City allthe way down to Cape May, and
that'll probably last throughoutthe daytime and also on
Saturday as well, because thissystem seems to be almost
stationary across the region.
So lots of clouds for the nextseveral days.

(01:50):
Not as nice as it was earlierthis week.
Highs today, mid to upper 80sand that chance of late day and
evening thunderstorms.
Lows at night in the middle 60s.
Daytime tomorrow, clouds andsun.
A better chance or the bestchance I should say of showers
and thunderstorms along theeastern seaboard from Richmond
up to Boston and all the way upto Portland and Augusta, maine.
Also that possibility of someshowers westward into

(02:13):
Pennsylvania and the Ohio Valley, but that will slowly,
gradually drift east.
We do have lots of moistureover the central and northern
plains states, but that'sassociated with heavy
thunderstorms in Kansas, oklahoma and Nebraska as well,
and even northern portions ofTexas and eventually, as we get
towards Monday, high pressure isgoing to try to build in, but

(02:34):
it looks like the weather isstarting to break down and
almost become stationary, meaning we could have an
extended period of some moistweather or at least a lot of
cloud cover for the next severaldays.
If you're flying today, it looksgood in Atlanta and also at
Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth.
Most of the heavy thunderstormswill be over western Oklahoma

(02:54):
and the northern panhandle ofTexas, amarillo, northwood up to
Lubbock and also some scatteredlight showers offshore.
San Diego it looks like SanFrancisco will be basically good
, maybe a little bit of earlyclouds and fog, a late-day
shower, but most of the timeit's going to just be typically
California and dry.
Looks like good weather up inPortland and Seattle as well.
Chicago not bad.
Looks like rainy weather forthe Minneapolis-St Paul area and

(03:18):
central and south Florida justtypical rains that they normally
expect this time of year.
I'm your manager, stevePelletier, and I am the
weatherman.
