Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletierian
.
I am the weatherman.
Thanks for checking intotheweathermanpodcom On your
Monday.
It's the 11th day of the monthof August 2025.
And it looks like the weathersituation is starting to really
heat up along the easternseaboard, at least north of
Richmond.
We have a lot of showers andthunderstorms in an area of
moisture that's been across theCarolinas for the past couple of

(00:21):
days, and also scatteredshowers and thunderstorms across
Georgia, central and southernFlorida and extending along the
Gulf Coast.
But in the northeast it's goingto be very warm weather as we
get into the dark days of summerand are starting to get close
to the middle of the month.
High temperatures this weekwill be ranging into the 90s 90
to 95.
Humidity values now too bad.

(00:42):
At this point, however, becauseof that strong southwest wind,
we're not getting that heat andhumidity coming up from the Gulf
Coast.
But eventually that shouldstart to work into our weather
situation and possibly give ussome widely scattered
thunderstorms by later on thisweek.
Well, earlier last couple ofmonths we've been giving you
some articles from Jeff Morrison, a good friend of

(01:02):
weathermanpodcom.
Jeff has always been interestedin the weather since he's been
a small kid and he's beencollecting New Jersey weather
data for 50 years and has beenproviding local observations to
us at Eye on Weather since 1979.
Jeff has been a longtime friendand member of the North Jersey
Weather Observers, the NJWO,along with being a local

(01:24):
Coqueras Community Color AmputeeRain and Hail Snow Network
that's called Coqueras and is anobserver in Somerset County
providing valuable precipitationdata to this nationwide network
.
Jeff has a full weather stationat his home and enjoys writing
articles on a variety of weathertopics for the general audience
, and this month's weatherarticle has a lot to do with a

(01:48):
big anniversary.
August marks the 70thanniversary of the historic
flooding along the DelawareRiver in New Jersey and
Pennsylvania, and that happenedin 1955.
Now we've been hearing aboutall the floods in Texas and
we'll be talking about that, butright now just a little bit of
a focus on the 70th anniversarythe 70th anniversary of this

(02:08):
historic flooding along DelawareRiver in New Jersey and
Pennsylvania in 1955.
The Delaware River rose to alevel never before seen after
Hurricane Connie and Dianedrenched the region with record
rainfall just days apart I thinkon this Monday it was Hurricane
Connie, and then Diane occurreda little bit later on Both
Phillipsburg, new Jersey andeastern Pennsylvania, located

(02:30):
just across from each other overthe Delaware River, were in the
epicenter of this flooding, andwe'll have more information
about this historic 70thanniversary historic flooding
around the Delaware River overthe days to come this week, as
this is the anniversary week ofthat flooding as well.
So make sure that you tune into the Weatherman Podcast every
day this week.

(02:51):
We'll have more informationabout that and also some context
to the flooding that happenedin Texas as well.
So maybe we can sort of likecompare and just look at that
situation as well.
If you're traveling on thisMonday, it still looks like the
showers and thunderstorms acrosswestern North Carolina,
charlotte, south Carolina andGeorgia also going to have
scattered showers andthunderstorms Could be some
delays into there, some delaysinto the Chicago area.

(03:13):
That's because of frontalsystem, a very slow mover just
off to the west of there thatextends all the way down to west
Texas.
Dallas is going to be dry andhot.
Houston could have somethunderstorms.
Also showers and thunderstormsdown in South Florida as well.
New York area just hazy andvery warm.
So some minimal delays becauseof the weather.
There will be other delays, butnot because of the weather

(03:34):
across the New York and Bostonarea.
Even down to DC.
West Coast shows very smokyconditions because of the
wildfires across SouthernCalifornia.
Generally dry conditions there, but the visibilities and
conditions are lower so therecould be some delays going into
the West Coast in San Diego andboth Los Angeles, san Francisco
at this point looking dry, dryweather, also up in Portland and

(03:54):
in Seattle.
I'm Eddie Rogers, stevePelletieria and I am the
weatherman.
Hope you have a great day today.
More information about the 70thanniversary of the historic
flooding along the DelawareRiver in New Jersey and
Pennsylvania that happened in1955.
More information on that overthe next several days.
So make sure you check in withthe Weatherman Pod each and
every day this week.
I'm Steve Pelletier.
