SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Hi, this is Minnie
Roger, Steve Pelletier, and I'm
the Weatherman.
Thanks for checking intotheWeathermanpod.com on this
Wednesday.
It is the first day of the monthof October.
It's October already.
And uh looking at uh sunnyweather and some cooler
conditions across the northeast.
Around the mid-Atlantic states,it's been getting a lot of cloud
cover and some occasional rainand showers because of the
tropical systems offshore.
(00:21):
Really interesting to see uh thetwo storms, one a Hurricane
Humberto, the other one aYamanda.
It's uh actually going to travelin unison up along the eastern
seaboard and off towards thenortheast, and will continue to
travel uh slowly towards thenortheast into the North
Atlantic and into the NorthAtlantic.
We're watching uh our buddy EdGalkin and Peter Toon, who are
(00:44):
uh now working their way acrossthe Atlantic from the Azores to
St.
John's, a trip that's going totake them eight hours in a
single-engine aircraft.
If you want to learn more aboutthat, you have to go to flight
tonpolio.com, flighttoandpolio.com and go for the
North Atlantic um mission thatwe're doing right now.
(01:05):
And uh they're actually on theirway home.
They've had some successfulvisits all across the European
continent, uh up in uh Norwayand also in Iceland, and even
actually the the flight routingtook them up to Newfoundland
across through Iceland, thenfrom Iceland to Bergen, Norway,
Norway down to well, it wasprobably right in through uh
(01:28):
Denmark.
From Denmark, they went toFrance, France up to Poland to
the east, and then over toBritain, and from Britain down
to uh Spain, and then Portugal, and then to the Azores.
Of course, the Azores are theislands that are uh to the east
of the coast of the Iberiancoast of Portugal and Spain, and
(01:49):
uh now about 1,500-mile tripthat will be being taken during
the daytime today from theAzores to St.
John, Newfoundland, and in asingle-engine Cessna 210.
So good luck to them as they goacross.
Looks like the weather is good.
The storms are to the southwestand to the northeast.
They got a nice path right to uhthe coast of Canada during the
(02:10):
midday and afternoon hourstoday.
So for our weather, uh, if youare flying today, well,
actually, first our weathersituation, very nice.
Sunshine near 70 today, 67 onThursday, Friday, and Saturday
and Sunday, all looking fair anddry.
Hey, it's been dry and we doneed some rainfall.
Can't make it happen, but aslong as the weather's gonna be
nice, might as well enjoy it.
If you're traveling by airtoday, looks like dry weather in
(02:34):
Atlanta and Charlotte.
Uh some scattered showers andthunderstorms, but to a lesser
degree in central and southFlorida.
Uh, looks dry in Chicago,Minneapolis, St.
Paul, also dry, Houston, Dallas,no problems weather wise there.
Kansas City, up to the Dakotas,Omaha, Denver, dry conditions,
dry in Los Angeles and SanDiego, but rainy weather in San
Francisco, Portland, and inSeattle.
(02:55):
Could be some delays into thereif you are flying today
commercially.
But once again, just it's flytoendpolio.com.
Just go to that site and you'llsee some pretty interesting
things that are going on rightnow.
And the boys are now crossingthe Atlantic from the east to
the west.
So they're going against thewinds, and at times they're
(03:16):
going to have uh probably somepretty strong winds out of the
west southwest, but then uh verylighter winds as they get closer
to the coast of Newfoundland.
In the meantime, I hope you havea great first day of October.
I'm Meteorologist StevePelletieri.
Thanks for listening in, andwe'll talk to you first thing
tomorrow.
