Speaker 0 (00:00):
Hi, this is
meteorologist Steve Pelletier
and I'm the weatherman.
Thanks for checking in totheweathermanpodcom on your
Friday.
It's the 27th day of the monthof June, a month that has shown
us wet weather in the first halfof the eastern seaboard, then
very hot conditions over thelast several days and now a cool
situation.
The situation on the weatherchart shows an area of low
pressure right over the centralGreat Lakes, right around Sault
(00:22):
Ste Marie, the northern portionof Lake Michigan, the joint
between Lake Huron and LakeSuperior.
A frontal system, a cool front, extends from the center of that
low down into northern Illinoisand just through Iowa.
During the afternoon hours, however, a stationary front
exists across Lake Huron, acrossinto southern Canada, southern
Ontario and then into westernNew York State, central
(00:42):
Pennsylvania and then south ofNew Jersey and New York, central
Pennsylvania and then south ofNew Jersey and New York.
That means an area of lowpressure is going to form along
that system and keep us in aneast flow.
That means some cool weatherfor the mid-Atlantic and
northeast.
During the daytime todaytemperatures will hover between
70 and 75.
Tomorrow, however, the frontmoves further to the north and
that means temperatures willrange into the mid-80s and
(01:03):
there's an increased chance ofsome scattered showers and
thunderstorms, especially asthat cold front arrives.
The cold front does movethrough Saturday night, so there
could be some heavythunderstorms with that.
Then we get into some dryweather for Sunday, a little bit
on the warmer side 80s to near90 and the possibility of a late
day thundershower on Monday andTuesday and a series of fronts
will be moving down out ofcentral and southern Canada
(01:25):
heading into the mid-Atlanticand northeast and that's
probably going to give us somenice weather for this upcoming
week where we transition fromJune to the new month of July
and get close to that 4th ofJuly weekend.
Looks like the weathersituation will turn out nice,
with a big area high pressuredown from Canada going to give
us drier and less humid weather, but still with seasonable
temperatures towards the end ofthis upcoming week.
(01:46):
If you are traveling today, itlooks like we will still have
occasional rain and showers inAtlanta and also in Charlotte,
in central and south Florida.
Showers and thunderstorms justacross most of the peninsula,
especially during the afternoonhours.
Some light rain and showers inHouston, but not a tremendous
amount, but it doesn't look likemuch that will be causing too
many delays in the aviations inand out of Houston, but it looks
(02:09):
like Dallas-Fort Worth will bedry and also dry weather from
the west coast San Diego, la,san Francisco but some rainy
conditions.
Who would have thought it?
Up in the Pacific Northwest, upin Seattle and in Great Lakes,
looks like that cold front willbe moving through so there could
be some delays going intoChicago, but dry weather from
Minneapolis, st Paul and, ofcourse, in the New York area.
That's where we're going tohave occasional cloud cover and
(02:32):
some sprinkles and showers.
Not terrific IFR weather just isgoing to be a cloud cover
that's going to be somewherebetween 3 and about 6,000 feet
above the ground, on east windsand that usually causes IFR
delays into the area airportsinto the northeast on your
Friday.
It does look like some betterweather for Sunday, but Saturday
, if you're going to betraveling, probably some heavy
(02:54):
weather in the northeast becauseof thunderstorms.
We'll have more to say on thattomorrow morning.
In the meantime, have a greatFriday.
Talk to you first thingtomorrow, take care.
