Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hi, this is
meteorologist Steve Pelletier
and I am the weatherman.
Thanks for checking intotheweathermanpodcom on your
Wednesdays, the 30th day of themonth of July 2025.
And the heat advisories andexcessive heat warnings continue
across the northeast, withtemperatures on Tuesday ranging
between 95 and 102.
All around the area, scatteredshowers and thunderstorms were
(00:22):
widely scattered.
Over the next several days, orthe next couple of days, I
should say, with the nextfrontal system arriving sometime
on Wednesday night, then duringthe daytime on Thursday and
Thursday evening, even intoFriday, we have the possibility
of some locally severe weather, but it will at least break the
heat.
Temperatures once again onWednesday will range up to about
95 to 102, with heat indexvalues, which is a combination
(00:45):
of the heat and the relativehumidity temperature and
relative humidity up to about105 to 107, making it very
uncomfortable Type of weatherthat you have to stay indoors
and air conditioning.
Don't exert yourself during theafternoon heat.
Wear some loose-fittingclothing of light color and
material and drink plenty ofwater.
Stay away and avoid alcohol, asit does make your matter a lot
(01:08):
hotter.
It makes your body a lot hotterbecause it just has to overcome
dealing with the alcohol inyour system.
So stay away from that, mostlywater, fruit juices, if anything
, that will help as well.
Now, as we head towardsWednesday night and Thursday,
approaching the frontal systemfrom the Great Lakes is going to
bring showers and thunderstorms.
There's even a possibility ofan area of low pressure forming
(01:30):
some tropical characteristics, believe it or not sometime
during the overnight on Thursdayinto Friday and that could
cause some heavy rains in somesections of eastern Pennsylvania
, new Jersey, delmarva, and eveninto New York City and
southeastern New England.
So we'll be watching that fortomorrow's report.
Also looking at the tsunamiwarnings that are in for the
(01:52):
island of Hawaii all the islandsactually there for the state of
Hawaii, and even looking attsunami watches along the west
coast of the United Statesbecause of a very heavy 8.8
earthquake that occurred justover the eastern section of the
coast.
It's actually offshore thecoast of Russia and that,
(02:16):
because of the tremendous 8.8,is a tremendous earthquake.
When you get that type ofsystem, the water sometimes will
fill into the cracks thatdevelop as the earth moves and
then, as the earth moves back, pushes it out and it causes
those terrific tsunamis.
You're looking at thepossibility in the Hawaiian
Islands of about maybe 10-footwave surges as that tsunami does
(02:41):
occur, probably sometime.
Probably did occur sometimebetween 1 and 3 am and probably
is a possibility for the PacificCoast of the United States
sometime during the morninghours today.
The heat and humidity continueand we are going to get into
some nicer weather.
High pressure will be buildingin on Friday in the afternoon.
Saturday and Sunday looking atsome very nice weather for the
(03:03):
northeast Carter-ass.
Temperatures will be at moreseasonable levels and that means
80 to 85 as we get into the newmonth of August.
On Friday, if you're travelingby air today, still looking at
showers and thunderstorms inAtlanta and in Charlotte, widely
scattered showers andthunderstorms in central and
south Florida, but no majordelays in those places.
The heat and humidity in thenortheast, no major storms.
(03:26):
But because of the excessiveheat that does slow things down
in the New York area AirportsPhiladelphia, newark, laguardia,
jfk and even up in White Plainsand out in Islip you are going
to have the possibility of somedelays because of the excessive
heat.
This afternoon Also looking atsome scattered showers and
thunderstorms moving into theBoston area sometime late in the
(03:46):
day on Wednesday and probablyearlier on Thursday.
Heavy rains across Louisianadown on the Gulf Coast Dry but
hot.
Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth.
Heavy thunderstorms are apossibility, causing some delays
into Chicago, especially thisafternoon and this evening.
It's that low pressure systemthat will probably reform an
eastern seaboard sometimeThursday night and Friday.
So it's that low-pressuresystem that will probably reform
in the eastern seaboardsometime Thursday night and
Friday.
So it's going to be bringingthat rainy weather to Chicago,
(04:08):
but in the half of St Paul itlooks like it's clearing out.
There's some better weather asthat high pressure starts to
build south Dry conditions in LA, san Diego and San Francisco,
but it looks like some showersin Portland and Seattle, but on
the light side.
For later today and tonight.
Let me do my best to see you,and I am the weatherman.
Hope you have a great day today.
Talk to you first thing on thelast day of July, on Thursday.
(04:30):
See you then.
