SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Hi, this has been
your Steve Pathetierian.
I am the Weatherman.
Thanks for checking into theWeathermanPond.com on your
Friday.
It's the 26th day of the monthof December, 2025, and we have
winter storm warnings in effectfor many places in the
Northeast, including centralnorthern New Jersey, New York,
Long Island, southeastern NewYork, northeastern Pennsylvania,
(00:20):
and western Connecticut.
Also central and northernportions of New York State will
be under the idea of thatpossibility of a winter storm
with the possibility of up to 10inches of snow in a central
Hudson Valley of New York.
Also looking at some heavyamounts of snow into western
Connecticut and western,southwestern Massachusetts.
But most importantly, looks likethe center of this storm
(00:43):
probably somewhere just north ofNew York City in southeastern
Connecticut.
So and looks like thatpossibility will be mainly in
the afternoon, evening, andovernight hours tonight.
So an increase in clouds due forthe daytime.
Good portion of the day will bedry, but looks like that snow
will be developing anytime after2, 3 p.m.
today into this evening.
(01:04):
Could be heavy at times atnight.
Hot jumpatures for today willrange between 27 and 32.
For tonight, snow could be mixedwith some sleet, especially
around central and south Jersey, along the Jersey coast, uh south
of the uh central ocean county, all the way down to Cape May.
Does look dry across Del Marvaas the storm will stay north of
(01:24):
there, so D.C., Baltimore, downto Richmond, also looking
basically dry.
But Philadelphia does have thepossibility of maybe an coating
to an inch of uh snow over thesleet and freezing rain and then
ultimately ending early onSunday.
So that'll be over southeasternPennsylvania.
Looks like it'll be later there, but the heaviest amounts
probably sometime uh around theovernight tonight, and early on
(01:47):
Saturday, and could be up to asmuch as eight inches or even
more if the storm really windsup.
It's moving down out of thenorthwest, out of the northern
Great Lakes.
Kind of odd for this type ofsituation.
Most of the time we have EastCoast storms this time of year
will be coming up along thecoast.
This time out of the northwestis a continuation of that
atmospheric river that's runningfrom Hawaii across to the
(02:09):
Pacific Northwest, uh, causingthe rainy weather that we had
yesterday along the west coast, and then it dries out somewhat
coming across the Great Lakesand then reintensifies as it
gets close to the easternseaboard, which is going to be
happening later today andtonight.
So again, dress for temperaturestoday near 25 to 30.
Snow expected in the mid to lateafternoon hours and tonight.
(02:29):
And uh as mentions there'll be amix to the south, and it's
basically just cloud coveracross the mid-Atlantic states.
And uh for the overnight snowcould be heavy at times, tough
traveling.
So don't expect to do anytraveling across the Northeast,
say up the New York through wayor out towards Rochester or
Buffalo.
That's where the snow will bethe heaviest uh during the
(02:50):
overnight hours tonight andearly tomorrow.
On Saturday, it looks like itall ends.
We'll have mostly cloudy skies,a highs will range between 32
and then Sunday.
Another storm arriving couldgive us a better chance of some
an icy mix to start, but thenover to rainy weather for Sunday
night and Monday.
Going to be really making a messfor early next week.
If you're traveling by air, expecting to travel by air
(03:10):
today, there are going to beproblems across the Northeast,
so expect cancellations in theNew York area for late today and
this evening and overnight, andeven the possibility of early
morning cancellations at NewYork, LaGuardia, JFK, and also
Newark, Teterborough, and alsoout on the island, Ice Lip as
well.
Also looking at uh some heavieruh snow across Bridgeport, so
(03:31):
there will be some delays there.
Also up to Albany and up toRochester as well.
Uh elsewhere, down around out ofPhiladelphia, it doesn't look
that bad, but uh they will havesome mixed precipitation.
Best to try to get a flight outof there if you're going
anywhere.
There will not be any flightsovernight tonight because of the
snow.
And then it also looks dry fromD.C., Dulles, and all the way
(03:53):
down to Richmond as well.
Flying into Charlotte orAtlanta, the weather looks
pretty good today.
No problems weatherwise there, just some light rain showers in
northern Georgia and westernNorth Carolina.
Also some scattered showers asin central and south Florida.
It's been there for the lastseveral days, but nothing major
is not going to cause any majordelays.
Weatherwise are flying in andout of those places.
(04:14):
Chicago's looking dry, fair andcold in Minneapolis, and Houston
and Dallas also looking on a dryside.
West Coast still with that rain.
San Diego to LA, all the way upto San Francisco, Portland, and
Seattle expect delays because ofrain in and out of those areas.
It does, however, look like uhthey may get into some drying
weather as we head into thisupcoming weekend.
But the big story is the winterstorm warning expected for the
(04:36):
New York City area and centraland southern New England.
That'll be for later today andtonight.
I'm in your mouth, just StevePelletieria, and I am the
Weatherman.
Hope you have a great day today.
We'll update you a little bitlater on today on the Weatherman
Pond.
So check in sometime after aboutmid afternoon for the latest
update on this winter storm.
Hope you have a good day.
Talk to you soon.
