Elizabeth (00:05):
Hey. It's Elizabeth flying solo with the Web Canopy
Studio Show. Today, we're gonnacontinue the momentum train.
Last week, we've talked about, you know, deduplicating contacts
and how it's important to keepyour database clean. And the
next step in this equation toget to launching a campaign
inside of HubSpot, well, actually, any CRM really, is to,

(00:26):
create some email templates andbranding.
And so, for those listening onthe podcast, make sure you go
find our video on YouTubebecause I'm gonna do a little
screen share today, do a really, really quick crash course on
some little hidden nuggetsinside of HubSpot. So I'm going
to share my screen, and this isa test portal, so there's all
kinds of funny weird data in it.But the first thing you wanna

(00:49):
check, especially inside ofHubSpot and a lot of other
content management systems havesomething that is compatible,
but in HubSpot, it's super dupereasy. You wanna go and create
your brand kit. Right?
This will include favicons ifyou're using Content Hub. You
can use different logos, URL ifyou want a logo on things. You

(01:11):
can set colors, primary color, secondary accent, additional
colors. If you're using a theme,if you're using, HubSpot example
for, your website, so contenthub, you can set up your theme
right here. And then HubSpotalso has a few, AI tools
available, as well.

(01:31):
That's what that brand voicepiece is. The next thing and so
this is really for your website.Right? But then you can also use
it to grab things for, email, stuff like that. The other thing
you'll wanna not forget aboutinside of HubSpot is to go to
the email tool under marketingand then set set your footer.

(01:52):
Right? Because you need a footerinside of HubSpot, inside of
marketing email, that's justmarketing email good practice.
So you'll want to set thatfooter in here. The branding I
just showed you, this is theclassic editor. You'll wanna use
the first one that I justshowed.
But then the next tab ispersonalization. So what this
means is you can actually editdefault values for different

(02:16):
properties that you use insideof your email campaigns, like
first name, last name, companyname, things like that. You can
come in and set these are theglobal values. You can still
overwrite them on an individualbasis. But if you have things
that you want to use all of thetime, like, for example, some
people, instead of first name, like, first name is unknown on a

(02:36):
on a contact record, forexample, you could do something
like friend.
Right? As long as it's brandappropriate, you could do,
something like that for thedefault value instead of it
showing up as a blank space. Thenext thing you'll wanna do is go
to marketing and then email. Soinside of HubSpot, you've got a

(02:57):
lot of different options tocreate an email. You can create
from scratch.
You can create from template. Most of the time, you'll do a
regular email. Automated is forany email that you want to use
via a workflow. And don't worryif you create a regular email
and you're like, oh, dang it. Ineed it to be in a workflow.
Not a big deal. HubSpot letsyou, change it to an automated

(03:19):
one. But in here you can dothings like manage your saved
templates. You can even create anew template inside of HubSpot.
If you want to edit a template, right, you want to select this
and then hit edit.
And what this will do so thiswon't apply if you edit a
template that's existing. Thechanges won't apply to any email

(03:40):
that you already have in yourHubSpot portal that used this
template. So this will be, youknow, future forward. So if you
wanted to do things like changewhere the button was or
something like that, you can dothat. And in HubSpot, just like
on pages, you can actually dragthe email and, you know,
rearrange things as needed.

(04:01):
And then if you look right here, you can see that there's
sections inside of the email. Ifthere's a layout that you like,
as long as the components areinside of a section, you can
actually save sections foremails, which is really awesome.
A common use case that I havevery frequently for this is,
like, text that's got somecomplicated formatting,
something like an event or, youknow, a webinar or something

(04:24):
like where it's all bulleted. And everybody knows Outlook, you
know, messes up your textformatting. So sometimes it's
just easier if you work out thekinks on one thing, save the
section.
And the reason why I'm bringingup save sections is because you
can actually use those sectionsin something that's not the
template that you just picked, which is actually pretty
awesome. But we're gonna exitthis because I already have a

(04:48):
podcast example ready to go, sothat we can go in and edit it.
You'll hit edit on the emailname. So here, you could see,
like I showed you in thetemplate, you can drag things
around. You can also clone themif you want to, but I recommend

(05:09):
getting things situated, puttingin things that you already had
in your settings.
By that, I mean, your brandsettings, using save sections,
things like that. So let's sayyou've used a template, but it
gets you most of the way there.Just like in the content editor
in HubSpot, you can actuallydrag, more modules, if you will,

(05:33):
over to your email. So let's sayyou wanted to put in a video,
you can do that as well. You canalso like I mentioned, you can
remove things, you can drag themaround, you can change colors,
and it's really easy to do allinside of HubSpot.
This looks like it's an image,so if you don't want it, you can
remove it. A couple otherthings. So if you wanted to

(05:56):
let's say you needed to addsomething to your email, you can
drag over a 2 column if youneeded something that's 2
column. And now I've got asection, that I can put things
in. In HubSpot, if you have aproduct library, you can
actually drag and drop and addproducts here.
So if you're an ecommerce brand, you can do that and as long as

(06:16):
your product library is builtout, you can, pull information
from there. And then let's sayyou want text over here, and
then I wanna get rid of this, and then I wanna make this a CTA
for the bottom. You can dothings like that, stuff like
that. Obviously, this is not awell designed email, but I think
you guys get where I'm going.Right?

(06:38):
The other thing to keep in mind, the email best practice is to
have, a 5050 at least balance ofimage to text. And you'll also
wanna make sure that your imagesall have alt text. That's just
good practice, guys. Be ADAcompliant, please. Please.
Please. You can adjust a few ofthe styling, corner radius,

(07:00):
things like that inside of here, but, make sure you have those
brand settings available. And ifyou set it on the template, and
then you use the template, allyou would have to do here would
be to replace the images. Right?Just fantastic.
Another few things to look atare from names. You can come in,
edit those subject lines, stufflike that. The last thing you'll

(07:22):
want to check before sending anemail is, recipients. So, this
one, don't send to unengagedcontacts, is just email best
practice that's gonna help youremail health. And since you've
the last step you're gonna do,before scheduling an email is
putting the list on.
Right? So, you'll want to makesure you have your list built.
If you don't, that's okay. Youcan actually import a list in

(07:45):
HubSpot or you can create a newlist, but you'll wanna select a
list of recipients. And then theother thing you'll want to do is
to also include a don't sendlist.
So, for example, let's say thisis a marketing email for a
product and you have a list ofclients that's already using
that product. You wanna makesure that they don't receive it.

(08:06):
Double down, add a suppressionlist here of those clients that
already have that. And then, youdon't have to that that way,
they won't send it or receivethe email, and then you'll
schedule as needed. I hope thatlittle crash course in HubSpot
was helpful.
Hopefully, you learned a coupletips and tricks, specifically

(08:26):
with the saved sections. I lovethat piece. And then working
from a template, but make sureto manage those templates. Go
into the saved template and editit if you needed to, update
something or create versions orthings like that. Work smarter
not harder.
The templates are there to getyou most of the way there. They,
a lot of times, don't do thefull job, but they can at least
make quick work of stuff foryou, especially when you're

(08:49):
super, super busy. So thanks forwatching and joining, listening.
This is Elizabeth. Next up,we'll have more tips and tricks
to get your email marketingcampaigns up and running in no
time using HubSpot.
