Speaker 1 (00:19):
Hi Wellness Warriors, Happy New Year and welcome back
to another episode of thewellness inspired podcast, a
place where you can findinspiration, motivation and
empowerment in the pursuit of awellness lifestyle.
I'm your host, sherry Davidson.
I'm a wellness coach,acupuncturist, trail runner and
former interior designer inHouston, texas, and I am deeply

(00:40):
passionate about health andwellbeing.
And, as always, I'm here withmy co-host, finn, and if you're
new to the podcast, finn is myTerrier, mix Rescue Dog, trail
runner and loyal companion.
He is also a therapy dog andgreeter at Element 5,
acupuncture and Wellness.
Today we are diving intosomething that has been on my
mind a lot lately, especiallywith the new year, and it is the

(01:02):
adventure of stepping outsideyour comfort zone and saying yes
to the things that stretch you.
I've been feeling that buzz ofexcitement that comes with a
fresh start, and new year's ismy favorite holiday and 2025
already feels like it's shapingup to be a year full of
possibilities.
You know that feeling whenyou're at the edge of something

(01:24):
new, a little nervous but alsokind of thrilled.
That's the energy I'm leaninginto this year, so I thought it
would be a great topic for thefirst episode of 2025.
But before we jump in.
For all those avid listenerswho've tuned into the podcast
over the past year.

(01:44):
You've likely caught wind ofthe Wellness River Cruise.
Well, friends, the moment hasarrived.
Mark your calendars for April20th 2025, as we set sail on an
unforgettable seven-night cruisealong the Danube River.
We will traverse thepicturesque landscape of Austria
, Germany, hungary and Slovakia.
Prepare for many activesightseeing adventures,

(02:05):
including invigorating hikes, scenic bike rides and maybe
maybe a few brisk runs Alongsidethese activities.
Indulge in the serenity of yogasessions, engage in
enlightening wellnessdiscussions and savor the
flavors of locally sourcedcuisine.
Excitement is already brewing,as several enthusiasts have

(02:25):
secured their spots.
For those intrigued, I'll putthe links in the show notes and,
if you want to learn more, inepisodes 63 and 64, a journey of
wellness and wonder on theDanube with Ammo Waterways.
I had the pleasure of havingLaurie, a representative from
Ammo Waterways, and Tammy, myfriend and a seasoned travel
concierge, on the podcast todiscuss the full river cruise

(02:49):
experience.
So feel free to check out thoseepisodes for more information.
And this all has to happenquickly.
The cruise is around the cornerand there are only 129 cabins
on the boat.
They sell out quickly, so ifyou're interested, put your
deposit down.
It's not a lot to hold yourspot.
Okay, let's get started.

(03:17):
Let's talk about comfort zones.
You've probably heard one saydo one thing a day that scares
you, and while that might sounda little extreme, there is some
solid science behind it.
Psychologists call this thecomfort zone theory.
So basically, our brains arewired to keep us safe and
comfortable, which is great, except when it keeps us from
growing.
Growth happens right at theedge of comfort, where things

(03:42):
feel challenging but notoverwhelming.
It is the stretch zone, wherewe build our confidence, learn
new skills and start to realizejust how much we're capable of
and, trust me, I have beenliving in that zone a lot
throughout my life.
In October, I joined amastermind group to stretch and
grow professionally andpersonally.

(04:03):
I applied for this group inOctober and I had my first call
today and this is January the7th, and I just realized how
much I am stretching myself thisyear.
I was so excited and supernervous on the first call.
However, I am overwhelmed witheagerness to know where I am

(04:29):
today and where I will be nextyear.
What is coming up for me in2025?
Well, there's a lot I'm excitedabout, but I'm also giving
myself permission to let thingsunfold, naturally, so I don't
wanna give too much detail here, but I am planning some
incredible experiences, thingslike an Urban Wellness Day,

(04:52):
online classes and, of course, the Wellness River Cruise.
That's already in action, butI'm excited to evolve that piece
Also.
I'm exploring new ways to growwellness inspired and I know
that my vision for it is goingto grow and evolve as a year
progresses.
So don't be surprised if youstart seeing some changes and
shifts here.
And as far as the otherexperiences I mentioned, I will

(05:15):
share more with you about themas they roll out.
On a personal level, I plan tokeep traveling and trail running
.
Another 100 mile trail racemight be on the horizon.
I'm not sure yet.
My foot is still not a hundredpercent, but I am running and it
is a little bit better, but Istill have some numbness and a
little bit of pain.

(05:36):
It is what it is right now andthat's what it is Um, but yeah.
So I am definitely thinkingabout uh training for another.
Another one and you know manypeople think I'm crazy for even
thinking about attempting to runa hundred mile race, but there
are so many reasons to do it.
For me, it's not just aboutcrossing the finish line.

(05:58):
It's about who I become in theprocess, and that same
philosophy applies to all areasof my life.
Stepping into the unknown isexciting because I have a vision
that pulls me forward, and sure, it can feel scary at times,
but the vision always wins overthe fear.
So here's what I've learnedit's not about the goal itself.

(06:19):
It's about the person youbecome on the way to reaching it
.
The growth, the grit, themoments when you surprise
yourself that's the real rewardand, honestly, that's why I keep
chasing these adventures.
Now I want to invite you tothink about what adventure looks
like for you.
Maybe it's finally signing upfor that class you've been

(06:44):
eyeing, starting a new wellnesshabit, or even just making more
space for rest.
Whatever it is, let 2025 be theyear you step outside your
comfort zone and say yes togrowth, say yes to the
adventures in your life.
Okay, well, that's it.
We're going to wrap up this newyear episode.
Uh, and I just want to recap bysaying you know, growth happens

(07:04):
when we step outside, into newchallenges and break free from
the ordinary, and by embracingan adventurous mindset in our
wellness goals, we can unlocknew possibilities and deeper
fulfillment.
If this resonates with you, Iwould love to know how are you
leaning into growth this year?
Let's keep the conversationgoing, because the best

(07:25):
adventures are the ones we growthrough together.
What's the one thing you'resaying yes to in 2025?
Send me a message.
I'm all about cheering eachother on as we take bold steps
to move toward meaningful growth.
Thank you for tuning in untilnext time.
Keep exploring, staying curiousand taking that first step

(07:45):
toward whatever wellnessadventure is calling your name.
