Hello again; I hope you are having a good week so far. This time on What's Your Excuse? I'm happy to bring you a very inspiring woman named Linda Bjork. I was impressed with ow she handled not only one life-crushing event but a string of experiences that should have finished her. She first shared with me about the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold — built on the idea that in embracing flaws and imperfections, you can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art. Every break is unique and instead of repairing an item like new, the 400-year-old technique actually highlights the "scars" as a part of the design. She uses this as a metaphor for healing ourselves teaches us an important lesson: Sometimes in the process of repairing things that have broken, we actually create something more unique, beautiful and resilient. She explained about the two different kinds of broken. Which I thought was very similar to how athletes describe the difference between hurt and injured. She talked about feeling like she was at the bottom of a dark cave or basement with no way to get out. She talks about how her sister extended her a ladder, but she still had to find the strength and courage to do the climbing. Most importantly she talked about how even now she has to make self-care as part of her daily routine. And if you stay around to the end you will learn a really cool exercise called MMWW. Now On To The Show Please Visit My Sponsors This podcast is supported financially by the great folks at blubrry.com They provide both financial and technical support to my show, Shredding For Gold, and The What's Your Excuse? Network. And while they aren't a sponsor, I have personally benefitted from CBD sold by Crystal Creek Organics. About Linda Linda Bjork is a best selling author, speaker, host of "Linda's Corner" podcast, and the founder and executive director of Hope for Healing. She is a gifted story teller who shares her experiences with honesty, warmth, and humility. I hope that you will help me thank Linda by sharing her interview with your friends, family, and coworker. As I have often said it doesn't matter how powerful the story is, people's lives can't be uplifted, improved, or even changed if they never hear it. I would love it if you would leave a rating and review on my Apple Podcast page. I realize that you have lots of options for how you spend you time, and I appreciate that you continue to decide to spend some of that valuable time with me. Thanks so much for your support. I couldn't keep doing this without you. Take care out there, Max
