Are Dental Implants Dangerous? 🔹 Infection Risk?"Like any surgery, there’s a small risk of infection. Biocompatible – Fuses with bone through osseointegration, creating a strong foundation. More durable – Can last 20+ years with proper care. Two-piece system – Allows for customization and better angulation. Potential Drawbacks: Rare titanium allergy (less than 0.6% of people) (Müller & Valentine-Thon, 2006). Can conduct heat, which may be uncomfortable in some cases. 🔶 Zirconia Implants (Metal-Free Alternative):100% metal-free – Ideal for patients with metal sensitivities. Aesthetic advantage – White material blends seamlessly with natural teeth. Hypoallergenic – No reported allergic reactions. Less plaque accumulation – Some studies suggest zirconia collects less bacteria than titanium (Rimondini et al., 2002). Potential Drawbacks:Newer technology – Long-term studies (20+ years) are still limited. More prone to fractures – Zirconia is more brittle than titanium, especially in one-piece designs. Limited angulation – Since most zirconia implants are one-piece, adjustments are harder.
