Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey runners, welcome back to the Wrinkled Runner
channel and the podcast as well.
I'm recording this at the sametime, whether you're tuning in
on your run during your morningcommute or watching on YouTube.
Today, our episode is all aboutyour favorite videos of 2024,
and we're going to be countingdown the top five.

(00:20):
So running on vacation wasnumber five, and when you're
away from home, sometimesbalancing training and
relaxation can be a littletricky.
So this video resonated with alot of you because it tackled
the practical tips like planningroutes in advance, packing the
right gear and also knowing whento push versus when to kick

(00:42):
back and enjoy your vacation.
It's about keeping that runningstreak alive or continuing your
training, but still making themost of your trip, and running
in a new place is one of thebest ways that I have found to
explore.
So I'm leaving for Vegastomorrow and packing my running
gear, so I'll be taking my ownadvice, and I've done it before

(01:04):
in Vegas, and if you go outearly in the morning, here's a
tip you actually get to run alot of the strip by yourself,
because a lot of people areactually just going to bed.
So I also wanted to mentionthat I had a comment on the
video about finding a collegecampus to run in if you're
training in the US, which Ithought was a great idea, both

(01:25):
because you're probably going tobe able to get some distance in
while running around the campusand there's usually campus
police to keep you safe.
So I thought that was fantasticadvice and I'm going to follow
that when I travel At.
Number four is the top videos of2023.
Four is the top videos of 2023.

(01:49):
It seems like everybody loves agood year-end review, so that
video reflected on all thelessons and tips and
breakthroughs from 2023, provingthat sometimes looking back can
actually push us forwards.
So it was a good way tohighlight some training advice
and it reminds me of how farI've come as a runner as well.
Number three is are you readyto run a marathon?
This one was popular because somany runners are eager to

(02:12):
tackle the 26.2 miles but aren'talways sure if they're really
ready.
So in the video, I broke downthe key readiness signs, like
consistency and training.
I went over mental preparationand understanding the commitment
a marathon truly requires.
So if you missed this one andyou're playing with the idea of

(02:33):
running a marathon, definitelygo back and give it a listen.
It could be the nudge that youneed if you may be on the fence
about it.
At number two, we havestretching for runners dynamic
versus static.
So stretching is a hot topicand in the video I attempted to
clear up some of the confusionabout when and how to stretch

(02:55):
for performance.
My advice, after looking at thescience, is that dynamic
stretching before a run andstatic stretching afterward is
what I use as a guideline and Italk about some of the reasoning
behind it, so you can watchthat video if you're curious

(03:15):
about reasoning why.
And finally, the number onevideo of 2024 was rest versus
run listening to your body.
So a lot of times when you see atitle like that, the
perspective is from the injuryprevention side, which is
encouraging a rest, which isvery important, and hopefully I
was clear in the difference inthe video, because sometimes the

(03:37):
answer to our perceived crappyruns is to actually run more.
So watch that video for someguidance on when to rest and
when a crappy run means youactually might need to run more.
So there you have it, your topfive videos of 2024.
Whether you're a longtimefollower or just tuning in,

(03:58):
thanks for being a part of thisamazing community and be sure to
subscribe to the YouTubechannel, follow the podcast.
Let me know what you want me tocover in 2025.
