Hey, writers, it's Sandy.
I'm coming to you from StudioCity, California, the jewel of
the San Fernando Valley.
And we're in the first quartermoon.

(00:55):
There was a breeze, at least inmy part of Studio City this
evening, so I poured a glass ofwine.
I'm laughing at myself, wine, soI poured a glass of wine and sat
outside with Sophie, Joe.
And it was a perfect eveningWriters.
I handle social media for thepage awards.

(01:18):
In addition to the writershangout, I exchange dms and
comments with you all, You guysare so smart, funny, you make me
laugh and you're kind.
A writer commented on one of myInstagram posts today, And I
felt like they were on the vergeof giving up on writing, so I

(01:41):
responded, offering Myperspective on the discussion
and acknowledging the challengesof the writer's journey, the
writer wrote back saying, myresponse sounded like chat, GPT.
then went on a disgruntled rant.
I don't usually respond to rudecomments.

(02:01):
in fact, I don't get rudecomments.
But this time I decided to writeback and say, next time an
industry professional, engage uswith you online.
be respectful and not a jerk.
Yeah.
Writers, sometimes you're infront of your moment and for
some reason you you fumble theball because you're being

(02:25):
defensive and you're angry.
When your moment's there, youcan take it or you can read.
Reject it.
No one owes you anything in thislife.
And I'm not saying that ourinteraction was this big
interaction and it was gonnachange this writer's path or
course, or it's gonna changeanything but.

(02:50):
I would've gone above and beyondto help this writer.
And it's not every day Somebodywith over 20 years of experience
in this industry gives you time.
And when you get it, take it.
And again, you guys are the bestI just love.

(03:32):
Raising my hand?
Let me know.
At the Writers Hangoutpodcast@gmail.com, it's just
spelled out the Writers Hangoutpodcast@gmail.com.
It'll be fun to read some ofthem on the podcast and let me
know if you wanna be anonymous.

(03:53):
Okay, let's start the show.
You've been asking me for anupdate on Blake Lively and
Justin Baldoni, and recentlysome new and interesting events
have come up.
I'm gonna go over three of themhere.
I have covered this lawsuit inover five episodes, and if you

(04:13):
wanna go into a deeper dive intothe beginning of this case,
please go back and listen.
But I'll do a quick recap of thecase, It All started way back in
December, 2024 when Blake Livelycame forward with accusations of
sexual harassment against.

(04:34):
Justin Baldoni, when theyco-star in the romantic drama it
ends with us.
I watched it on Netflix.
I th.
Think it could still be there.
It ends with us, was directed byJustin Baldoni with a screenplay
by Christie Hall, based on the2016 novel by Colleen Hoover.

(04:56):
It tells the story of LilyBloom.
Played by Blake who moves toBoston to start a new chapter in
her life.
There she meets Riley, played byJustin, a neurosurgeon
completing his residency.
The two are drawn to each otherand begin a relationship.
Lily's first love appears andbrings up her traumatic.

(05:20):
Passed back to the recap, BlakeLively shared those misconduct
claims by Justin with the NewYork Times.
Blake's publicist claimed Justinorchestrated a public smear
campaign to damage hercredibility.
In the wake of the harassmentclaims Baldi.

(05:43):
Tried to hit back with a 400million defamation and extortion
Countersuit claiming Blake andher husband, Ryan Reynolds,
tried to destroy him and hijackthe premiere of it.
Ends with us.
Unfortunately for Bald JudgeLyman, the judge in the case

(06:06):
dismissed the lawsuit in June.
This just past June now since welast talked about.
That's the end of the recap.
And since we last talked aboutthe case, three things have
happened.
July 31st, just a few days ago,Blake Lively sat for her
deposition, Let's step back fora moment.

(06:28):
A deposition is a pretrial oraltestimony of a witness taken
under oath outside court, recorded by a court reporter.
This happens during thediscovery process, allowing both
sides to gather information, identify case strengths and
weaknesses, Spotinconsistencies.

(06:52):
And potentially lead to asettlement.
Yeah, that's not gonna happen.
Blake gave her testimony in herlawyer's office.
Not unheard of.
That was me commenting.
Not unheard of.
And there was a surprised guest.
Can you take a guest who it wasneed a hint?

(07:13):
He likes to leave long voicemailmessages in a husky voice.
Still don't know.
Come on down Justin bald andtake a seat.
Although you are not legallyrequired to attend this meeting,
staring down the female who isaccusing you of sexual

(07:33):
harassment is not a move.
Most would make brave choice.
I don't think so.
Reality t reported.
Baldoni said, if she's gonnaaccuse me, she's gonna have to
say it to my face again.
My opinion, not a good look.
Given the case.

(07:55):
Read the room.
Reality T goes on to sayLively's deposition lasted for
several hours, aside from thetwo actors.
It was attended by legal teamsof both parties, a videographer.
Ooh.
That means we're gonna see thevideo at some point.
A source noted that the37-year-old actor, wait, did

(08:18):
they put the ages of anybodyelse in this article?
Gotta do better.
Okay.
Where were we?
A source noted that the 37.
Oh, my year old actor didn'teven flinch with belt's.
Sudden attendance.
Okay.
I'm not familiar with realitytee's standards.

(08:41):
things like how many sourcesthey require before printing
something.
So I think that report I mightlook at with a grain of salt.
Number two, the second thingthat has happened.
Wayfair Justin Boone'sproduction company that produced

(09:01):
it ends with us and backed by Abillionaire is going after some
of the biggest insurancecompanies in the world for
denying them coverage to fight.
Blake Lively.
Writers, when you are.
Shooting a tv.

(09:21):
When you're shooting, filminganything, you have to have an
insurance company to back theproduction.
Now, when I worked at DavisEntertainment, I remember
dealing with the insurancecompanies and getting
certificates and I was a baby.
I had no idea what I was doing, but it all worked out.

(09:44):
There was no issues.
the insurance people I spoke to,they were all really quite cool.
I remember one of them took meto lunch, but I can't remember
his name.
Okay.
Where were we?
So they are going after some ofthe biggest insurance companies
in the world for denying themcoverage to fight Blake Lively.

(10:11):
And basically the insurancecompanies are coming back with
you, the production company didnot inform us the insurance
companies that Blake Lively andothers complained of sexual
harassment during pre-productionand production of the film.
So I guess they say you screwedup.

(10:32):
We can't help you.
Now this gets complicated withNew York Mariners.
Oh.
I can't remember.
I think it was Mariners.
Anyways, Harko, nationalInsurance Company, Lloyd's all
being involved.
I'm gonna keep my eye on thisand I will update you as the
story unfolds.
Okay, up next, number three.

(10:53):
On the last content creators arefinding their way into the legal
clash between Blake Lively andJustin Baldoni as Blake Lively
subpoenas.
Drew mentions of Candace OwensMegan Kelly and Perez Hilton.

(11:15):
Wow.
Isn't that an interestinggrouping?
Now, what is a content creator?
content creators.
They live on TikTok, Instagram,Facebook, and online.
They share various videos orimages to.
Educate entertain, they'repromoting what they want to talk

(11:37):
about, what they want to presentto the world.
Be it pop culture politics, family knitting.
Shout out to cousin Molly.
They craft content that connectsto their audience.
The popular content creatorshave millions of dedicated
followers.
Their reach into your algorithmis powerful.

(12:03):
Now I'm going to read to youfrom an article I found in
Courthouse News online, and Ijust thought that this article
laid it out, really clean veryclean, Chris, very brilliantly
and very quickly.
and I'm not gonna read the wholearticle.
It starts Lawyers in a livelybaldoni feud.
Spar over subpoenas of CandaceOwens, me Kelly By Eric Lacer,

(12:29):
and it's came out on July 30thof this year.
Content creators are findingtheir way into the bitter legal
clash between HollywoodA-Listers, Blake Lively and
Justin Baldoni.
Justin Baldoni as a Wednesdayhearing on Lively's subpoena

(12:50):
Drew mentions of Candace Owens,Meg Kelly and Perez Hilton.
Okay, I have to interrupt.
Right here.
Candace Owens, Meg Kelly, obviously I know who they are.
We're gonna put them off to theside.
Perez Hilton, he took that name.
It's a takeoff on Paris Hiltonbecause this is the early 2000

(13:13):
when Perez is coming up.
He's online and he has a blog, vlog, whatever it was called.
It was just a site.
That he updated constantly allday, and he sat in a coffee
shop.
I don't know, a legend has it inon Sunset Boulevard.
I really don't care.
But this man would draw the mostdisgusting amateurish drawings

(13:37):
on young Hollywood women's facesall day long, every day.
Hour after hour.
And it doesn't surprise me thata Perez Hilton would, no, he's
cleaned up his act.
He has children now, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
He's always trying to clean uphis act, but it does not

(14:00):
surprise me that Perez isallegedly involved in any of
this.
Okay, back to the article.
Lively wants to subpoena LinerFriedman Cooley, the law firm of
B'S attorney Brian Friedman.

(14:20):
She suspects now Brian Friedmanwas also in the Diddy trial, if
I remember correctly.
Oh man, break your heart.
That trial.
She suspects that Freedman ispart of b's supposed ongoing
smear campaign against her, andthat Freedman is using his deep

(14:43):
Rolodex of influencer clients tocirculate the campaign online.
I am sure Brian Friedman spelledB-R-Y-A-N, has a very deep
Rolodex.
Kids back in the day.
We didn't look up people on thecomputer.
We wrote their name on a cardand put it in a Rolodex.

(15:08):
And when you were looking for aname, you would flip the
Rolodex.
And, one of my favorite linesfrom Cynthia Ti was way back in
the day, best improv teacher whotaught the best of the best in
la.
You name them, from Conan andBrian to Peewee Herman, to Lisa
Kudrow, to Phil Hartman.

(15:31):
Legends.
But she would yell from you'dband stage and she would say to
you, if the subject matter ispizza, you have to flip through
the Rolodex of your mind ofeverything you know about pizza.
And that works with writing too.
If you're writing a scene andyou're writing dialogue.

(15:52):
And you don't know what to donext, and you're in a pizza
place.
Just flip the Rolodex in yourmind of every single thing you
know about pizza, and trust me,your next scene is going to come
to you.
Where were we?
Attorney Ellen Garaffo arguedLively subpoenas, which seek

(16:13):
information about agreementsbetween content creators and
freemen are overly burdensome tothe firm risk, breaching
privilege, and should besquashed.
Grapho also complained.
I hope Janine Graffo does get toplay this part in the movie.
Grapho also claimed that no suchagreement exists.

(16:37):
Prompting the judge to questionwhy he need to rule on the issue
in the first place.
This is what the judge is sayingback to Garaffo.
Why are you asking me to writean opinion saying you don't have
to answer the question thatyou've answered here today.
In front of this assembled crowdasked us, district Judge Lewis

(16:58):
Lyman a Donald Trump appointee.
I agree with the judge.
In addition to Friedman Lively'steam, also subpoenaed right-wing
influencers, Candace Owens, andMegan Kelly, as well as Gossip
Blogger Perez Hilton, all ofwhich purportedly have working

(17:20):
relationships with Friedman andproduce content.
Criticizing Lively over the feudwith Bald Lively's attorney
Michael Gottlieb pointed to pastcomments from Friedman quoting
him as saying Lively has.
reputation for being a bitch andis a narcissist who cannot
accept how she has behaved.

(17:42):
That's either here nor there.
You don't get to sexuallyharassed bitches or narcissists.
There are the things Mr.
Friedman says.
When he goes on his clientshows, Gottlieb said, arguing in
support of the subpoenasGottlieb added that it is a

(18:02):
misrepresentation to suggestthat No agreements were made
between Freedman.
And his content, creatorclients, he argued that by his
account Hilton posted Perez.
Hilton posted more than 500times about the SPAC between

(18:25):
Lively and Baldi on his gossipwebsite with the post skewing in
B's favor.
we'd like to know about Perez.
Hilton Gottlieb said we'd liketo know if there's actually an
agreement in place between thetwo of'em.
Owens Gottlieb claimed hasshared an exclusive scoop about

(18:49):
Lively and Baldon that usedinformation from Friedman's
affidavit.
Interesting.
Gottlieb also argued that he wasrecently made aware of a text
chain in which Friedmanintroduced belt's team to
another content creator clientof his, who then went on to

(19:09):
disseminate content attackingLively.
I am unable to say the name ofthis person in open court.
Gottlieb said, Lyman didn'timmediately rule on whether he'd
quashed the subpoenas, though hedid say that he found one which

(19:30):
seeks freedman's communicationwith various meaning sources.
Tremendously broad and actuallyquite chilling.
still, the judge's ruling isstill unlikely to end this saga
with both sides apparentlydisagreeing on whether
agreements were made betweencontent creators and Friedman's

(19:52):
law firm.
Gottlieb acknowledged he maymove to compel discovery in the
not so distant future.
Lehman previously quashedsubpoenas from Lively seeking
B's phone records, finding themoverly intrusive.
Just in case you're new to thesereports about Blake Lively and

(20:14):
Justin Bald, I don't think Ihide it or I'm not trying to
hide it.
I am on Blake Lively's side.

takes I've really enjoyed thatcommunication.
