Speaker 4 (00:34):
Well, here we are, everybody, welcome back. I apologize for
the delay here. As I mentioned earlier this week. Last week,
I was traveling and there was just no way to
do a show. It took me a while to catch
up on Russell Palooza. This is what that show is
going to be. We're going to go through it and
match by match and the overall thoughts I'll start with
(00:54):
in a moment. But if you're joining me here on
Spotify or Apple podcast, thank you so much. And if
you're listening to those ads and you want to get
rid of them, Patreon dot com slash WWE podcast and
it's a great place to go for other connections as
well as a discord server that you can chat with
other patrons of the show during any event or any time.
It's just for you if you join us at Patreon
(01:15):
as well. So wow, all right, I've seen so much
of the backlash for Russell Palooza I've seen some positive results,
some positive reviews and reactions, but the vast majority seem
to be underwhelming. The vast majority of people are saying
this is an embarrassment. It was a Saturday night main event,
(01:39):
and I would say I fall somewhere kind of in
the middle. I don't fall on the side of it
was a B plus pl those are kind of the
extreme reviews on the positive end and on the back end.
On the other end, I mean people saying this is
a flat out f of a show. I fall somewhere
in between. And it's not the cop out or to
play Kate both sides. It's simply because I feel that
(02:00):
it was a in between show leaning towards underwhelming. So
I'm like, the show did not excite me. And to
be honest, I think a lot of it is because
we expected more from this Wwe hyped it up, Triple
H hyped it up. They hyped it up to a
level of you know, this is a going to be
a WrestleMania light type of pl e. There's going to
(02:23):
be surprises. Well, I don't know what's surprised, as Triple
H was talking about, other than the fact that we
saw a squash again of John Cena. That really looked
like the Summer Sam twenty fourteen match that they had
a lot of people angry about. That will open with
that again. In a moment, I really thought it was okay.
It was okay, leaning towards the side of disappointment. I
(02:44):
mean I even said in my previous show that hey,
this is a this is a going to be a
big pl e. There's going to be some big, you know,
big big moments or a big return or a swerve
of some sort or something, because WWE likes to make
sure that they make a big impact when they changed,
like they did with Netflix. Anytime they returned to the
USA network or changed from USA to TNN or whatever,
(03:08):
they need to make a big splash because they have
to justify the change, especially when it's from a cable
package to a streaming service. They have to justify it.
Get some excitement. And they got some excitement, but not
in the right way. They really did. And I don't
know if you can justify the nineteen ninety nine price
(03:28):
tag for ESPN Plus to have to watch these pls.
I highly recommend people get a VPN. Yes, we're taking
Stephanie McMahon's advice, and hilariously, they also announced the undertaker
did that he or they will be inducting Stephanie McMahon
into the twenty twenty six Hall of Fame during the
same timeframe in which she said, Hey, get a VPN
(03:50):
so you don't have to, you know, deal with the
subscription the various subscription model issue that so many of
us deal with. So it's kind of funny. I'm sure
that there's executives that are like, uh, you know, we're
gonna induct her into the Hall of Fame, and the
same time that she essentially tries to subvert a lot
of subscriptions, which is funny. I mean, Stephane McMahon is deserving,
(04:12):
no doubt about it, But that's not what this is about.
This is about this this pl e. There's stressal palooza
that if anybody went and spent their money for an
overpriced ticket that WWE has admitted that they do now.
I mean Mark Shapiro, the president of the company, has
blatantly stated multiple times, Hey, no, we friz McMahon price
for families, and we're not. But the ticket prices are
(04:34):
astronomical these days. I don't know why anybody or how
any money can afford to go, especially if you have families.
There was a sign in the audience that was hilarious
that said, I think I said, I sold my house
for this seat. I bet you there is a grain
of truth in that. For some people, you know, taking
out a loan or doing the affirm to pay overtime
or whatever it is, it's brutal and the only way
(04:57):
to push back again is to not go if you
if you really want to send a message tow Now.
Let's get into it, though, because there is a lot
to be said about this, and I'll start with the
brock Lesnar John Cena matchup that went eight minutes and change. Yes,
disappointing is certainly the word. It was underwhelming from a
(05:18):
length perspective. I thought they could go fifteen twenty minutes.
I really did. I know. That's not Brocklesner's style. He's
kind of a Goldberg esque type of match or a
type of you know, type of wrestler in that his
matches are usually short. Not that Brocklesner is equivalent to
the skills of Goldberg, but it certainly was underwhelming. With time,
(05:40):
they could have at least done fifteen minutes, and the
people in the audience were pissed off, and so were
some of the kids. The kids were crying, and I
actually felt bad for them, I really did. I really
felt bad for the outcome. Granted, most people did believe
that John Cena was probably gonna win this because he's
(06:00):
on his way out and they want to give a
feel good moment, and if Brock loses, who cares. But
most people did believe John was gonna win, and he didn't.
Brock Lesner beat John Cena. Now, I don't believe he
beat him as decisively as the twenty fourteen matchup with
John Cena and SummerSlam. I can't believe those twenty fourteen
It feels like, yeah, two years ago, but I don't
think it was that much of a squash. But it
(06:21):
was certainly a squash by any definition, and having John
Cena hit the three AAA's Brock kicks out not really
a shock. WWE, whether it's veterans or whether it's rookies
or anybody in between, continues to use the finishers as
a transition move in wrestling. The finishers are being diminished
by the day in wrestling, where they don't mean anything
(06:44):
anymore at all. You know it's going to be now three,
four or five finishes to end a match, which is
just it's patently insane. It doesn't add any excitement to
the matches anymore. It's an expectation by fans that it's
going to take several and it shouldn't be. It should
be one and done with the rare exception to multiple finishes.
(07:05):
If it's a big moment, a big match, there's a
reason for it, not just a standard part of the
match for everyone. It's it's so infuriating. And I don't
let John Cena or brock Lesner off the hook on this. Sorry.
I know they're legends, but finishers have to start with
someone to mean something. But that beside the point of
that where you know it was just going to be
(07:26):
F five City and it was. We got the German
Suplex's brock Lesner got beat red faced real quick, and
I thought he I mean, I don't know if he
was out of breath quick or what the case was,
but he looked great, no doubt about what Pat McAfee
on commentary that was cool again, you know, saying that
Brock looks better than he ever has and then how
crazy it is and how long you know, he's looked
(07:47):
like this is pretty impressive. To stay like that is
pretty damn impressive. So brock Lesner brought it. You know,
the effort was there on both men. The you know,
I don't think brock Lesner was lazy in the match.
You pay him, he'll do the work, and he does.
He busts his ass. This is not their fault. It's
not Brock's fault. It's not John's fault. You put it
(08:08):
at the feet of creative, you put it at the
feet of Triple h. And if the story here is
that brock Lester is going to be world champion, if
that's what he's chasing next, then I mean, I guess
this makes sense. Also, the fact that brock Lesner is
going to be here a little bit longer than John
Cena is. With John only having four dates left, we're
(08:30):
not going to see him until Crown Jewel. We don't
know whose next opponents are going to be. Could be
Brocklesner again, people are floating brock is actually going to
be his final opponent, which would be a big womp.
It can't be Brock, It just can't be. But we'll
see where that ends up. Brock Lesser being introduced by
Paul Hayman at the beginning of the match was kind
(08:51):
of cool, but also kind of a bit of a
a wasted opportunity here with Paul Hayman and Rock Lesnar reuniting.
I think they should have kept him apart on TV
for as long as possible until you're going to bring
them together for some reason. And maybe that reason is
already here, but they could have done it a little
more interestingly where you know, it looks like Seth and
(09:12):
his vision are on a totally separate storyline, separate world
that Brock's doing his thing or he just disappears, and
then the vision er I don't know, working with l A.
Knight or whatever, and I don't know where here comes
Brock Lesnar to come face to face with Seth and
then again Paul Hayman. What does he do? He's the
he's the Oracle, but he's also an advocate. What does
he do? And that would have been much more exciting
(09:34):
than just having them I don't know. I think it
could have been introduced in a much more dramatic fashion
of the reuniting of those two than just having him
coming out to announce brock Lessner in the match, which
again was cool, but I was waiting for him and
hoping for a bigger moment when they finally met, and
now it's just I don't know, kind of it kind
(09:54):
of washed that away a bit. But the manch itself,
I thought was fine. Again. I mean, it's it's the
power for power move that you're going to see with
these two, and that's it, and you get an F
five I think it was a total five six f
fives and he referee. The referee got it as well,
which is also really funny. Anytime brock Lesnar attacks somebody
(10:16):
that's a tenth of his size, it makes me laugh.
It's just inherently entertaining. So the referee got it. John
Cena got it six times and Michael Cole is shouting
for his suspension or whatever, which again brock is probably
not going to appear again till maybe ground Jewel, who knows.
We know the expectation for brock Lesner is at a
(10:36):
basement level when it comes to him at his appearances,
and I'm sure some people are just flatly pissed off
at WWE for their the result here in this match
an essential squash of John Cena. Where does John go
from here? Brock Lesner moving up here? Maybe the world title.
(10:56):
I'm not sure you still have gun there floating out
there when he returns from his nose injury. You know
you have other opportunity, maybe bron breaker. Of course that's
gonna be fumming. A bron breaker and brock Lesner go
face to face, so that could be the next step here.
But I'm interested to hear what you guys have to
say about the the brock Lesner squash of John Cena.
(11:19):
And by the way, we do have an email or
two that we might get to, maybe a voicemail on
the back end of this show, so we can get
your voices on the show. They may be a little
bit late to the party. I apologize again, a bit
of a weird week for me last week. But we're
back in the saddle because this week I am on
a normal schedule for those of you that care. All right,
let's move on to something else here. Another matchup that
(11:41):
was the Vision taking on the USOS Jimmy and Jay.
The match I thought, I mean, I enjoyed the match.
I thought it was a little bit slow at times
a little bit too chaotic at others, so kind of
opposite problems. What was the time stamp here? Seventeen minutes
and twelve seconds with Reid finishing off Jay with the
(12:02):
tsunami and got the victory and Jay usso got cut bad.
It looked like he might be suffering have suffered a concussion.
The bump he took at the end through the table
was just it almost looked like nobody was home. He
didn't land right. It was just kind of like a
lazy fallback, which I'm not faulting him for if he
was actually hurt, I mean, you take care of yourself,
but it looked like it wasn't a bump he took correctly,
(12:25):
so hopefully he's all right. I don't know exactly where
the cut happened on Jay though, I'm still trying to
find out where and how that happened. All of a sudden,
he just was bleeding and I'm like, well, where what spot?
I'm not sure how that happened. But it was a
match again, violent fun. It was the outcome that you
should have expected though, because the vision, especially Brondbreaker and
(12:49):
Bronson Reid, which are two thirds of the vision, they
are the focal point of the group. They're the reason
for the group even existing to begin with, because you're
trying to get over new talent, create new stars. And
I thought it was again a decently well done match.
There was no missteps that looked really bad or anything
like that. It was about putting Bronson, Reid and Brown
(13:10):
Breaker in the spotlight again, beating one of the greatest
tag teams of all time. And let's see, I'm looking
at some of the spots here I might have forgotten. Oh,
with La Night as the special referee, I mean, it's
nice to see Night out there doing something at least
on the pl you were hoping, maybe for a bigger role.
(13:31):
I think that La Knight still is probably going to
be working with the Vision for the foreseeable future. He
works well. I was wondering if we would have had
a heel turned by Night here. I actually thought it
was possible that Night turns heel. It would have been
a good platform for him to do it. I don't
know if it's the right time for La Knight to
turn heel because he's still rolling pretty well as a babyface,
but there is a case to be made if you
want to shock the world and maybe go a different
(13:52):
direction for La Knight to turn heel again. It's just
a conversation that I think could be had. Both sides
could have an argument, but you know, if I were
leaning towards it, I'd say no, keep him as a
babyface for the time being. And yeah, overall, it was
a decent It was a decent match up here with
the vision winning and that was that Eosky and Stephanie
(14:14):
Vecaier for the Women's World Championship. This match was long,
twenty minutes and eleven seconds and this was I mean,
I really I enjoyed this match. I know the crowd
didn't seem to be too into it to begin with
because of the slow opening minutes, but that's how longer
matches start, and that's always an indication of how long
and how much time the wrestlers have when they start
(14:37):
off slow chain wrestling, move for move, counter, submission, chinlock, reversal.
You know, if the match starts out like that, they've
been given a significant amount of time. And that's what
happened here. Is twenty minutes is pretty long, especially for
a women's match, and it was it was I thought
well executed it was well executed, and Eoski continues to
(14:59):
show you how how damn good she is, and every
time you see her you're reminded of it. Stephanie did
her part as well, no doubt about it. Stephanie becomes
women's World champion, and that's the right move because Eo
Sky we kind of know and have seen what that
is and what she can be as a women's world champion.
She's really good. She is right now and intertwined in
the Oscar and the Kyrie saying drama of you shouldn't
(15:23):
be talking to them, Why you talking to them, Oscar,
I'm the leader, like all that kind of weird stuff
that eventually Oscar's going to turn on her with And
I thought it was fine, actually good again. I really
enjoyed this match might have been one of the best
matches of the night by some standards. Here in the finish,
if you didn't see it was EO delivering a double
(15:44):
knee attack followed by another running knee. She then went
for another moon salt. Stephanie moved out of the way.
EO had rolled down her knee pads and took additional
damage when she missed the splash, which actually must have
hurt like hell. And then Stephanie climbed out to the top,
lended a spiral tap borrowed from AJ styles, and got
the victory. So both women had respect, celebrated with each other,
(16:08):
and then that was it. So it was good. It
was good. I had no issues here with this women's match,
solid twenty minute performance, and I think Stephane Vicors Women's
champion is going to be It's gonna be interesting because
she has become champion in a short order. She hasn't
made a main roster very long. Most people still, if
(16:32):
you're a casual fan, have heard the name. But I
bet you she You know, if you put her face
in front of the just the average wrestling fan, you'd
be like, oh yeah, what's your name? Oh yeah yeah,
Like I know the people I watch an XT You're like,
what are you talking about? She's been there forever. But
for the main casual viewer that tunes in occasionally, you'd
probably not recognize her if she walked past you on
the street. So she's got some brand value work to do,
(16:54):
she's got some name recognition to do. I'm not saying
she's gonna fail. I think that she's more than capable
in the ring. It's just a matter of connected with
the audience and continuing to build that relationship. But hands
or hats off to both women here, okay, here comes
a j Lee and Ciampunk versus Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins. Okay,
(17:15):
this match went way too long. It just did nearly
thirty minutes, and I look, you knew who was going
to win this. You knew who was going to win this,
and it's exactly what she thought it would be. That
doesn't mean it's wrong. I actually think the outcome was
exactly what it should have been. Thirty minutes around the
time is too long, but aj Lee winning and she
(17:40):
aj Lee is still I think, kind of shaking the
ring ross off here. She didn't look impeccable, but she
looked more than Okay, it takes a while after ten
years to make sure that you knowing what you're doing. Also,
the standard of women's wrestling has increased since she left,
So what we would have looked at ten years ago
when she was wrestling and had if you just saw
an ag Lee actually be like, wow, she's one of
(18:01):
the best on the roster. But now today you look
at it and you're like, yeah, she's not bad, but
there's definitely women that are better. And that's also what
she's fighting against is the standard has been raised, so
she has some work to do, but that's she didn't
have an embarrassing performance by any stretch. Her and Seampunk
worked well, the hot tag worked well as expected, and
(18:23):
as I am just totally turned off by the men
are just cowering to the women. They can't retaliate. Aj
Lee putting a submission hold on Seth Rollins with Seth
actually selling the move was an embarrassment of epic proportions
and I don't want to hear, well, it's a submission
he couldn't get out. Aj Lee is a twenty five
percent of his size. Seth Rollins is incredibly strong, stronger
(18:44):
than most people realize. And you're telling me he had
to sell a submission move from a woman who's one
hundred and five pounds. Get the f out of here.
I'm done with this crap. Sorry, but not sorry, because
it's embarrassing. I will continue to spew this until people
are sick of it because it's it continues to happen
(19:07):
and it's inexcusable. Again, if this is by the way,
in the context of a mixed tag match, if any
of the other genders attack the other gender, you know,
it's a disqualification. So there should have been many multidisqualifications
because that's a mixed tag match, it's not intergender. So
(19:27):
it's ridiculous. They're all just cowering, getting slapped, getting put
in you know, submission moves and jumped on, and they're
all just, oh, I can't do anything. The hell with
that shit, I'm done. It's so embarrassing. I watch it
and I roll my eyes. I mean, I understand it's
pro wrestling again, but that makes it worse. It makes
(19:49):
it worse because you have control over this environment, or
you can protect your opponent. That's what your whole purpose
of being in the ring is. That's your main priority
is to make sure your opponent is safe. That's number one.
I'm not a wrestler and I know that, and I'm
supposed to believe that in a pro wrestling environment, the
men are in a controlled environment that would ensure their
(20:11):
safety almost because things happen that we can't have the
men stand up for themselves, and they're just like, AJ's
just too strong, I can't get out. This shit needs
to stop. I don't want to hear any more from
anybody about this, Okay. It's embarrassing on a level that
I can't just it makes me want to stop watching.
(20:35):
And I'm not just saying that to get attention. Go
ahead and say it. Just that's how I feel, and
I gonna stop watching. No, No, it's an empty threat,
but it's the feeling that I get watching that, okay,
And it's just it's absurd, it's embarrassing. It makes me
roll my eyes. If I was watching, was one of
my friends that you know, didn't really watch wrestling and
only comes back for the big events, I would be embarrassed.
I would want to turn the off the channel. Okay,
(20:57):
it's that bad. And some of you are whatever, it's
wrestling exactly, it's wrestling, so it should be something that
the men are able to do in a progrestling context
for the aforementioned reasons. But beyond that, okay, because you
knew that rant was coming. Beyond that, the only other
downside of this match, which again was the right outcome.
(21:18):
The crowd was into it. It was fun, you know,
on some levels. The other part of this was that
there was too much coordination too much. A lot of
the spots felt very rehearsed, like everyone had to be
in just the right position, just so everyone had to
do everything in stereo to show cohesion, like there was
(21:42):
too much of that that didn't feel organic and felt
very set up. And I know that they needed to
get some of those spots in because it's cool husband
and wife. I get that, but there were times where
it just it felt too coordinated and it just wasn't
organic at all, So that that also took me out
(22:02):
of the moment. And I was also disappointed that after
the match, seth Rollins didn't stomp aj Leaf's face into
the mat to hear the crowd's reaction to see what
Sampunk would do, and that would ratchet this up to
a billion degrees. It would get the crowd going. You'd have,
of course, you'd have the the fake outrage mob on
Twitter talking about how, you know, w WE promotes you know,
(22:24):
sexual or promotes you know, interracial violence or you know
whatever that they'll they'll they'll claim all that kind of crap.
But that would have been, I think, a big moment
and people would have got you up in arms about it.
Of which of course is absurd because aj Lee in
a progressing context, absolutely deserves it. So does Becky Lynch. Okay,
(22:47):
let's continue here, because this is just gonna send me
down a spiral that'll keep repeating myself, and that's one
of my downfalls, no doubt about it. All right, Jumaca
tiring Cody Rhoades for the w W A Championship. This
match went seventeen minutes in seventeen seconds, and I thought
the match was good. The match was good. It was
exactly kind of what I figured it would be with
(23:08):
Drew mcatyre losing, with Cody Roads retaining. And yes, Drew
Mcatyre can chalk another one up to the lost column.
When he has a big, you know, a big moment,
can ever seem to align himself at the right moment
for the world title or the w W Championship doesn't
seem to ever be happening. Drew just can't get it right.
(23:30):
And the moment he does, seam Punk is the one
who screws him at WrestleMania last year. He just can't
seem to time it out right. And I thought, again,
this was good. Drew mcatyre, you know, doing his clay
more into the announced table boy, the announced tables get beating,
just get take such a beating here.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
And.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
You know Cody Rhads by the way hitting his super cutter,
which was I mean, I didn't actually make that his
finish and one crossroads? Did he only get one crossroad? No? No, no,
he had more than one crossroads, because the crossroads is
the weakest looking finish in the history of wrestling, So
I think he Yeah, there was one kick out of
a crossroads, which continues my narrative of finishes me nothing.
(24:13):
And then he did hit a Cody Cutter or a
supercutter whatever they called it, and got a Crossroads for
the victory, and it didn't You know, Drew did look
a little foolish here when he attempted to give some
cover by taking the loss, and perhaps this is something
that he will continue to pursue with Cody. I don't
(24:33):
know if this is Drew's final title match for a while,
but Drew is long overdue for a long title reign,
like years overdue at this point. I know it's all
been all about Cody all the time for everything. I
get that, and then John Cena, you throw him into
the mix for a year long retirement tour that has
been very self serving. I think that's another topic print
(24:56):
of the day. And Drew just doesn't seem to ever
line upright. He can't ever time it right. But I
say it f the timing. Drew is deserving of the
damn title and a long time of run six to
twelve months, and we just can't seem to get it.
And it's a damn shame because he is he is
as polished of a wrestler, a best, he's one of
(25:16):
the best all around wrestlers at ww has he has
to look. He doesn't get into the company or himself
in trouble outside of the ring. He doesn't hurt people,
he doesn't get hurt a lot. He's very good on
the microphone. He just he's he's got that intangible that
draws you to the screen. He's got a he's got
the heel personality that has suited him very well. It's
(25:40):
he's got it all and right now like it. They
just they just, for whatever reason, are still going to
go with Cody Rhodes. And I know that. For me,
it's it's you know, I understand it, But at some point,
can we just pull the trigger with Drew. All the
stars don't have to align. Sometimes you just say f
it and you go all right. That's my review overall.
If I was going a great from an A to
(26:00):
an F, probably C A C C minus for a
pl Here again, the women's match Sephanie Vicor and Eosky
really really, I mean that was one of the shining
lights of the show. And then other than that, Yeah,
the John Cena brock Lesner matches, I said, meh, I
(26:21):
don't I actually don't agree. Again, people are outraged by
brock Lesner winning, but you have to understand the logic
of where they're going. And that would be what w
W would say, is, hey, you don't know where we're going.
Just hold on right, you don't know where we're going
with this. But a lot of people don't even care.
They just are looking at John Cena and he's leaving
and they're like, what the hell are you doing? Another squash?
I actually the one part of this was the squash.
(26:42):
I actually don't disagree with the outcome. I disagree with
how it was done. I would have done again fifteen
twenty minutes and then have them back and forth and
build up and have the finishers mean something. If they
had done that, I'd give this I would have given
a good grade. But because of the squash and the
just complete abuse of finishers, I would yeah, I'd give
(27:05):
that a match like a D plus C minus. Again.
So there, all righty, let's get to your emails. I
do have a couple here because I promised that we
would get those in if you sent them while I
was away over the weekend. So let's see here. This
is Blair and this was again prior to the pl
(27:26):
e with predictions from some of you. So this is
the Wrest of the Blues predictions from Blair, and Blair
says Cody's gonna win the mixed tag team match. You
had Ceampunk and aj Lee win. You had John Cena
winning the brock Lesner match. You had Eo Sky winning
the Women's World Championship, and the USOS winning against bron
(27:47):
Breaker and Bronson Reid. So you got two out of
five there, two out of five, which you know mathematically
ain't great. But I see why you chose those, you know,
those other ones. I get it. I mean I expect
I think most people expected you on Cena to win
and the USOS winning. You could have made a you know,
a case for that too. This was in some respects
this was a very difficult Poe to predict with especially
(28:10):
the the usos and Bronson read and bron breaker. That
was a difficult match to pick as well as honestly
John Cena bron breaker because both both men you could
have made a case for. Thank you, Blair. Let's go
to uh, let's see here, let's go to DJ and
he says, hey, Matt, since I missed the cutoff for
(28:31):
the frictions attaches my Joe Hendry report that have received
uh or that I recorded in a variety of locations.
Can you guess how many? Oh gosh, I don't know,
but we'll listen to it in short order. So let's uh,
we'll get there. But all right, Bill, that that might
be I thought I had more. I thought I had more.
I might have accidentally deleted. If you sent in an
email and I didn't read it, I apologize. Let me
(28:53):
know again, and if you are on Patreon, you can
send me a message directly in the in house messaging
platform that they have. So yeah, all right, we'll get
to that Joeandre report. Actually, uh, let's do that. Let's
do that right right now.
Speaker 5 (29:06):
This is DJ Coles melt Back added again on your
Mailback show records. You live on a Wednesday board, and
you know what time it is. It's time to see
his name man, he peers.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
I believe in Joe Hendre. I believe in Joe Hendrey.
Speaker 5 (29:24):
That's right, folks, Joe Hendry is his name. As I
take you to my sixty second episode of the Jeerge Report,
l I always coming to you live from an undisclosed location.
But before I begin, let me take you back to
what took place last night when I went to see
the Mets versus the San Diego Padres larve from Cityfield
in Queens, New York. So let's go back last night
(29:45):
to a pass DJ Cousbo take.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
It away, DJ, Well, thank you, DJ, and I am live.
This is Tuesday night. I am live from the parking
lot of.
Speaker 5 (29:55):
City Field as the Mets had a thrilling victory with
a score of a to three over the San Diego Padres.
And this was Hispanic herriage this night. If you hear
my voice kind of a little bit slurred. I had
a little bit of alcohol, but anyway, this was a
big win for the Mets, as right now, they are
still with that final wildcord spot in the National League.
(30:18):
Hopefully they'll be able to get to the playoffs as
we come down to the end of the season. We
got a score of eight to three as the Mets
skirt early and often doing a course of the first
and second innings with a lot of contribution from the
offense from Peter.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
Alonzo from Soto.
Speaker 5 (30:34):
If you can hear the people in the background as
they're channing, let's go Mets. The Mets continue to go
forward with this game and they have never lost the
lead as they maintain this game with a score of
eight to three. Anyway, I'm gonna take you back now
to DJ Cuzmo.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
Live from the undisclosed location. Take it away, DJ, as
I try to compose myself here. Thank you, DJ.
Speaker 5 (30:58):
Now, let me take it back to a TV tapping
of TA Personally from last week in which we were
supposed to have the matchup of Joe Hendry versus Eric
Young and how Eric Young was talking about how TEENA
needed a cleanse. However, we did not get that matchup
of Joe Henry versus Eric Young at the last minute.
The matchup was chained. As we now had Joe Hendry
(31:19):
versus Eric Young's Young Protege and Travis Williams of the
Northern Armory tag team. This match lasted three minutes and
eighteen seconds. During the course of the match, the referee
bandit Bot, Eric Young and the other tag team member
missed Judas Icarus from ringside, so it became a one
on one match with no distractions as Joe Henry got
(31:40):
the victory over Travis Williams via the standing ovation choke slam.
But after the match we got something very interesting as
Eric Young attacked both Judas Icarus and he attacked it
Travis Williams with the pile driver, the sit down pile driver.
What is going going on in the mind of Eric
(32:01):
Young as he attacked bolt proteges. Let's see what happens
as that story continues as we go now into what
happened this past Saturday at an NXT Live event, as
we had Joe Hendry, Shiloh Hill and Hank Attack as
Day one up against all four members of Dark State
in an eight man tag team match.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
In the main event.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
By the way, this NXT Livenman from Saturday, September thirteenth
was taking place at Orlando, Florida. However, Joe Hendry and
his team did not get the victory as Dark State
once again stands tall to get the win over Joe Hendry,
Shadow Hill and Hank in Tank and He appeared last
night on NXT on a special episode we had NXT
(32:44):
Homecoming Live from Full Sale University in winter Park, Florida.
We get a backstage segment of rensint Clair and Charles
Dempsey of the Now Quarter Catch Crew. She mentions to
Charles that the group needs a fresh start, whether it's
new music, new jackets, something big. Charles said, we don't
(33:04):
need any of this.
Speaker 5 (33:06):
The No Quarter Cash Crew has fallen on hard times,
but all we have to do is refocus. Charles says
that he plans to go to Japan for a month
to come back a new man. But then he said
something very interesting. He finally says, I know with me
being gone, it's going to be and then Wren says glorious.
(33:29):
As she says that word, we get the appearance of
Bobby Rude. That's right, folks, Bobby Rude, who's also known
for his cashphrase glorious. He made an appearance. Wren actses, Bobby,
can you do the thing. Bobby says, sure, he raises
his hand and the chorus Sondbite says glorious.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
Ren saind Claire says to Charles, that's so cool.
Speaker 5 (33:55):
Then she said his name, Joe Hendry, saying was just
almost like saying Joe Hendry.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Joe Hendry randomly appeared from behind a door as his
music plays.
Speaker 5 (34:09):
Then we get an interesting conversation of Bobby Rude as
he talks to Joe Henry and he says, as a
former ten A world champion myself, I gotta tell you
seeing you walk down the aisle with the TNA world
title in your hand at Rustlemania.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
Was absolutely glorious.
Speaker 5 (34:27):
However, Bobby continues to say to Joe, but now that
you're in NXT, there's another championship that I once held
that you need to focus on, and that's the NXT title.
Just know that when that day comes, I'll be rooting
for you. Joe says to Bobby Rude. The fact that
someone of your stature things that I can do, it
(34:50):
means the world. We didn't see Joe and Bobby Rude
shake hands as now this segment comes to a close,
but it's very interesting to see that there's a possibility
that when the dust is settled, Joe Hendry could be
in an NXT championship opportunity against Obafemi.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
When will that day come? We shall see.
Speaker 5 (35:11):
But always remember this very important question, what random place.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
Will he appear? If you just say his name?
Speaker 5 (35:18):
Always remember to believe say his name, Always remember the
words that Joe Hendry says anytime, any place, at any show.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
And most simplely, most simporly, always remember do do this
strong sight science we believe to.
Speaker 5 (35:41):
Susteg Once again, this is your guy, DJ Coulsmo, have
a blessed week, be kai to one of those stays
in my friends.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Believe and peace.
Speaker 4 (35:51):
DJ. Did I hear three or four four four locations? Perhaps? Yeah?
That was. I'm glad you enjoyed the Mets game. I
appreciate you know, alcohol induced calls are I want to
say they're welcome, But then I could be opening up
a door, a very messy door, the door that I
don't know if I can close, So appreciate it. I
had a few drinks this weekend myself. I'll leave it
(36:13):
at that. But the Mets. Yeah. Again. Here's my MLB
segment for the week that if you don't like MLB,
then just you know, turn this off. I'll be brief, though.
The Mets are in trouble, my friend. I know that
you call me after they won, but they just as
you know, yesterday, they dropped out of the wildcard race
because of their loss, and they cannot be tied with
(36:33):
the Reds because if they are, they lose the tiebreaker.
So really they have to outright beat the Reds. They
if they tie with the Giants and the third wildcard spot,
they have the tiebreaker there. But either way, it's either
going to be the third spot or nothing. And if
the Mets do not make it into the World or
into the World Series, that's a pipe dream at this point.
But if they don't make it into the playoffs, it's
going to be just an epic collapse, you know it,
(36:57):
just especially when you look at the payroll. Three hundred
and forty million dollars payroll. They added Soto, the best
hitter in the world, and they don't make the playoffs
with three wild card spots. I actually, I mean, I'm
a Yankees fan, but I actually don't hate the Mets.
I don't understand the hate for the Mets because They're
just a co you know, They're like they've always still
(37:17):
kind of been living under the shadow of Big Brother
Yankee fans. But I don't have any hatred for the Mets.
I really don't. I invite a World Series that is
a you know, a rerun of the two thousand Subway
series of Yankees and Mets, at which point then I'd
root against them. But I don't hate the Mets. I mean,
I have much more dislike for other teams like the
Red Sox and Astros, among others. So I'm actually I mean,
(37:41):
I'm rooting for you because it's the National League, and
I really don't care what happens with the National League
until we get to the World Series if the Yankees
are there. So man, I hope the Mets make it
because they are on the fringe of a complete collapse
and embarrassment. How could it not be an embarrassment With
the largest payroll in the world of any profession sports
team and you don't make the playoffs, it would be
(38:04):
It's horrible. Now they still could and this could all
be for nothing and everything gets reset when the playoffs
start in a couple weeks. I get all that and
hopefully that is the case. But boil boy, they are
flirting with complete disaster right now, complete disaster. They need
to win their next what I don't know how many
games I got left, like ten games, whatever it is.
(38:24):
They gotta win at least go you know, seven and three.
They have to. You can't do five hundred at this point.
So all right, thanks so much, DJ, and thank you
for the update on Bobby Rude as well. Wasn't really
paying attention there, which is why we have you with
the Bobby Rude, you know, telling, telling Joe Hendry where
(38:46):
he should focus next, which of course is the NXT title.
That'll be interesting again making baby steps to the main roster,
continuing to make those baby steps, which I think will
happen before WrestleMania season. If I was to give a
time frame, I'd say, well, rumble he'll be back or yeah,
for the for the foreseeable future, like actually place himself
permanently in the main roster. I'm guessing end of the year,
early next year. All right, thank you, my friend. Enjoy
(39:09):
those beers and the Mets hopefully in the next couple
of weeks, and we'll talk next week. Let's go to
our next voicemail.
Speaker 6 (39:16):
Heyes, Kyle, So I wanted to talk about the situation
between you know, the women's division on road right now.
Feel it's kind of all over the place here Stephanie
and EOE, the States here for the championship to come
out of you know that show Who's gonna come out
as a champion, But it's like all the ten is
(39:37):
between Becky and and a J. I feel like that's
the most intriguing story that they were doing with the
four of them. And I think it doesn't matter to
me who has up becoming the women's world champion because
a lot of Becky is doing what she's been doing
since she came back from you know, from russele May
to now, it's been awesome. It's been flaws for are
(40:00):
the amount of work you've been doing in the foreign
promos and either substitute with ATLA even with eighties return
as well, it was completely it's just changing, you know everything.
It feels like everyone else's second is everyone else is
the secondary in the women's division right now. So you know, yes,
Ria's super over and you know, I love EO, I
(40:21):
love Stephanie, but it's gonna be interesting out Dross up Paloza.
How they go up to capitalize on whoever walks out
the boy's champion, because it's gonna be still a lot
of focus on a J and Becky for the rest
of the year for the icing title. So I will
it's gonna be interesting and what's gonna happen. How could
they chose the momentum into Stephanie or EO to whoever
(40:48):
watch out as the champion? Bake them that to make
what they make the rain interesting to everyone else. I
DAEs it's to be a triguing because again Becky to Dagny,
I think Ralph the matity for the rest of the year.
So that's it. They throw off that, Kyle.
Speaker 4 (41:09):
Yeah, the women's division right now is it is? Right now?
The focus is aj Lee because she just returned. She's
the fresh hot face. But you know, we do have
Ria Ripley finally taking a backseat to the women's world title,
and I think she should. I know, Rhea could get
involved here, and if they do, they do because she
is incredibly over and arguably the face of the whole company.
Is the women's division, they could have Rea Ripley kind
(41:30):
of insert herself once again back in the picture, but
I would actually argue that she stays out of it
because there's more to be had for the women's division
than just Ria Ripley as champion, a re Ripley challenging
Rea Ripley chasing, chasing, chasing the women's title, and I'm
all for people focusing on that as a as a goal.
That's that their character is stating that I want to
be champion. But you can't have everybody chasing the title
(41:51):
or the same people chasing the title all the time.
So who could be challenging now that we know Stephaney
Bmakoror has won, Well, I mean you have EO Sky,
you have I mean, i'd say Kyrie saying, but she's
again the little doggie that follows Osco around. So you know,
probably not, but Osca and EO probably are going to
really come to blows here and then you're gonna have
(42:12):
Osca and EO in a triple threat with Stephanie Viccor
possibly at the next pl or you could have it
a raw main event or something. That's probably where they're
going is Oscar in EO with Stephanie. But Stephanie's not
gonna lose it, you know, Stephanie is gonna keep that
belt for at least the next several months. I'd be
shocked if they have her drop it. It would be
shocking in a lot of ways, because she's the up
and coming talent, you know, highly rated coming out of NXT.
(42:35):
Has done very well since she got to the main roster.
But she needs that time to establish herself. And I'm
not suggesting she have a long run. I think she
should hold it for at least three months, at least
three months if things are going well, continue it, but
at least the next several months, maybe to close out
the year. And if she drops it at the Rumble
or something like that, that's fine if they want to
go a different direction for WrestleMania, but we don't know
(42:55):
how the things are going to be lined up and
stacked up in injuries or you know, you also have
Live Morgan floating out there. Don't forget about that Live
Morgan floating out there, who could easily come back to
reclaim her belt because she had to relinquish it since
she didn't lose it she got injured. So I think
Live Morgan is likely if she's ready to go, and
I don't know her injury status. Live Morgan is a
perfect contender to Stephane Vicorre's title, and Live Morgan is
(43:19):
super over. I think when Live Morgan comes back, despite
how they try to position her, fans are going to
cheer her. She is one of the best, the kount
of redemption stories that the women's division has had going
from remember if she was in the riot squad getting
squashed by Ronda Rousey for months and months and months
and months just being a complete non factor to where
(43:41):
she is today and upon her return, she's going to
immediately insert herself back in and she should. There's a
good good case to make Live Morgan champion if she
comes back in you know, in short order. Now again
that also spits in the face of well Stephanie needs
to have a longer run. But I don't know lives.
(44:01):
I don't know lives injury status. That that is something
only they know and Live knows. But she's certainly a
contender upon return among EO Sky and Osca that are
going to probably insert themselves in, and a good case
to be made there to also have you know, EO
Sky and and Oscar finally come to blows and then
where does Kyrie's where do her loyalties lie? And have
(44:22):
a kind of like mini story there, but that's probably
where I think they're going. Yes, So thank you Kyle
for bringing that up. And I appreciate all the all
the calls, all the emails, and hope you guys enjoyed
this review. Despite all of my rants and comments, I
get about my rants, It's going to be the way
