WWE podcast show.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
The one that Everybody wants me sixteen. So guys, just
we your asks, this is mind. You're going to acknowledge me.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
What is going on?
Speaker 4 (00:33):
Everybody, and welcome to another episode of the Main Event Review.
Thank you very much for tuning into this week's episode.
Lots to get through today. We got the Monday Night
Raw segments as well as the two Men event matches
that we're going to review right off the bat, and
wherever you're tuning in from this, thank you very much
(00:53):
for yeah jumping on the podcast and listening to this
as well. We're just under three weeks away from Crown
where it's coming to my home country Australia in Perth,
though quite far from where I'm from, so, as mentioned before,
unable to make it. However, we'll try to do the
best to sort of bring out the reviews and also
(01:14):
the house show that's coming in on Wednesday, which I'm
excited for so I'll be able to see some WWE
superstars as well, so yeah, really looking forward to that.
But again we'll get started with the first match. We'll
jump out the bat with Candice Array taking on Zelena Vega.
So two superstars who are probably in the mid card
(01:36):
tier but haven't been getting any TV time as of late,
so they've found themselves on main event as well, and
they're both SmackDown superstars, but they don't seem to get
anything on SmackDown at the moment, which is quite crazy,
especially given that we do have a United States Championship
(01:56):
or champion at the moment in Julia who's not really
getting any opponents. You look at one side of raw
where the Intercontinental Championship or Women's Intercontinental Championship is doing
such a good job, and then you've got the women's
United States Championship that's not even getting defended.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
And Julia is a big standout.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
In the women's division at the moment, especially when it
comes to the mid card, but it doesn't seem as
though that these two are even getting a chance at it. Well,
Zelena did have a chance before, but probably not going
to get one again anytime soon or be serious enough
contender for her to take the title back. But in
this match, we did have Zelena Vega take the victory
(02:34):
with a Code red, so to me, it sort of
just indicates that they're going to continue running with Selenavega
and giving her the momentum.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Canus Array doesn't.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Seem to get any victory here, any momentum going forward.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
I think she would just remain as sort of the
manager for DIY. I don't know where they've been, actually,
they haven't been on the scene for a while.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
But yeah, Zelena Vega's the victory doesn't really do too
much for these two, given that we don't really see
them winning a United States Women's Championship, especially with Julia around,
and that's kind of I think the issue at the
moment with those two, They're not really.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
Doing much and it doesn't really help their cause.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
Hopefully maybe they put a more TV time for Zelene Vega,
But yeah, she's been struggling, Like she's really good on
the mic, but I think her size sort of just
puts her off, and I think a change of music
is much needed.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Like her song is No Good Again.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
I always say this, it sounds exactly like the SmackDown
entrance theme, So it's really hard for people to get
into her as well and really like rev up when
her music comes out. And even for Candice Lay there's
just not really much going on for her either. But
they're both sort of compelling characters but not good enough
at the moment to really push for anything, so they
(03:52):
stay on main event. Maybe they'll continue to be featured here,
who knows, we'll have to Yeah, wait and see it
for that. And that wraps up the first match. Then
it gets sort of projected into Raw. We have Seth
Rolins and Cody Rhodes pretty much pulling a promo against
each other on Raw, So Cody Rhoads makes an appearance
(04:14):
on Monday Night Raw, and yeah, basically we have the
Crown Dual Championship match between Seth Rolins and Cody Rhodes
for the Ring.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
It seems as though they continuing the tradition, which is good.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
It makes the event much better for us in Australia
that it's not just exclusive for SATDA Arabia. But again,
the match doesn't really mean much. It's just to determine
who the champion, the best champion is, and if Cody
Rhodes gets a two time champion in a row, I'm
going to be pretty upset about it because I think
Seth Rollins deserves it given that his vision and I
(04:49):
think the way he's been going with the title and
his story has been more compelling.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
But again we have Cody in the ring.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
He is about to ask what they want to talk about,
and then Seth Rollins comes in makes an entrance.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
He's joined by the Vision who come to the ring.
So it's the first time that they're all together in
a while. They've probably split apart.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
They obviously split apart before, so now they're all together
at once. No Vicky Lynch, which probably isn't surprised, but
she doesn't walk out with Seth Rollins. We did see
her backstage when they opened the show with those sort
of like camera angles when they come into the stadium,
But basically Rollins comes in and says it's champion against champion.
(05:29):
He said that it's bigger and deeper than just their
one on one. They were seeing Pumpy Chas rolling in
and the best thing saying son about him.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
Cody does say that their story is complicated.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
Rolins also asks the question is what the Zach obviously
Cody Rhodes think of him, and Cody Rhones mentions that
he basically changed his life.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Obviously, Seth was basically the shield.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
That WrestleMania forty pretty much helped him win the storyline.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
He was the one that brought him back.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
So these two are actually have a really long history
together since Cody Rhodes made his return. You obviously talk
about the Hell in the Sale match with him when
he had a talk a tour Peck they had that match,
and basically they continue and going on about the fact
that Cody is the right person, and Seth says, like,
(06:20):
Cody says he's the quarterback, but there's no one better
suit than the job than Seph And basically he brings
up his watch and says that Cody Rhodes gave him
this watch and.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Pretty much says like that, just just.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
Mentions his watch and says that it says forty on it,
and that's when Cody gave him the rest of the
watch of WrestleMania, and this is the first time Seth
Rowlans actually wore it since. And then he also said
that the vision is an idea of what the future
of his industry looks like and it runs through Seth
Rowlins too. Cody Rose then replies, basically, there's a lot
(06:55):
of questions, and they basically said the three matches they've
had they've all been one on one and every time
Cody Roads as verse sep Rollins one on one, the
score was obviously three and zero to Cody, so that
was the way to sort of close that off. And
then Rolands waived off the vision from not attacking Cody
(07:17):
Roads to let him walk in safely backstage.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
So I guess this is one way to hype it up.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
He obviously talks about that history, talks about the fact
that Cody Rhodes has the upper hand on Steph Rowlins.
But it's basically a match determined where the direction of
the future of the company is going to be. And
if you're gonna build up stars, if you're going to
promote the bronze and set them up for the future,
then it would make complete sense for Seth Rollins to
win this match, So then that can be propelled and
(07:45):
that can be factual. If Cody Rhods wins it, it's
quite selfish victory because again, as Seth Rowlans mentioning his
promo that he is quite selfish, So again that's something
that it would be really compelling, and we'll have to
wait and see what happened with with that match as well,
and how they'll go, but I'm wanting Steph Rolins to win.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
To win the match there. We then have jay Uso
taking on La and I. We had some.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
Backstage back and forth with with Jimmy and Jay.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
And the match didn't go for too long. We had.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
The Bronson Reid come into the ring where and Knight
tried to knock him down off the floor, and Jay
pretty much hit the spear on night based on that
distraction and won the match after the USO splash once
he hit the spears. So bit fishy this one because
Bronson Reid came into the ring and so did bron Breaker,
they pretty much helped ja Uso win the match and
(08:41):
Jay us just left and they obviously went to attack
or al n I got attacked by the Vision.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Jimmy comes out and Jay Jay leaves.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
So are they teasing a potential new acquisition in jay
Uso that that's going to be quite interesting. If that's
the case, it's probably not the case. Jajus is obviously
fighting demons at the moment, and given how he's gone
this year, this is probably the perfect sort of mode
he needs to be in right now. He obviously lost
his world title he's lost a few important matches and yeah,
(09:14):
he's struggling at the moment, so this sort of heel
tease is good.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
Whether he turns hill or not, I don't know, but
I do really like when Jayus is kind of aggressive
like this.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
He kind of reminds me back in the days where
he was fighting with Roman Reigns, as he was just bossing.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
Him around and stuff. So yeah, let's see what happens
with Jay.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
I do like it, but again I don't know where
it's going to go, whether he joins the Vision or
whether he just has a straight up hill turn and
just changes his character. But whatever happens, it's probably something
that they're trying to get a reaction from Jay and
the fans and just really see whether he can be
a single start. I think that's probably the most important
thing that happened in this situation and probably what's going
(09:55):
to be important moving forward to We then get the
second main of It match, and this was an unbelievable display.
It was a Kurra Desa taking on Dragon Lee, a
very good match. Like you had the crowd saying this
is awesome, and I wouldn't say it was awesome, but
I would say it was a very very good match,
probably one of the best matches I've seen on main
(10:15):
EVET for a long time in terms of just in
ring chemistry and just some of the move sets in
the spots that they had in this match, and the
pace of the match was really good. We had, obviously
Dragon Lee, who the right person, got the victory for
given that Akira Tza is just an just a joke
at the moment in terms of his character, and also
(10:36):
the fact that the Alpha Academy I'm really doing much
and Dragon Le's got that stuff with the Americanos, which
they did mention backstage that we obviously have three Americanos.
It's Tyler Bait and Pete Dunda at the two and
three Americanos obviously trying to give them something to do.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
So we'll see what happens with that one. But yeah,
Dragon Lee gets the victory here, the right decision.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
But I'm gotta give credit for both both guys as
they really performed very well for this match, and it
definitely hyped the crowd up. This is obviously before Raw,
so the crowd would have been really excited looking into
this main event, and sometimes main event matches are just
great wrestling displays and that's not a bad thing, and
this was one example of that. There isn't obviously much storyline,
(11:19):
as we all know, but when we get to see
a good match here and there, it's great and also
the opportunity just to see where the characters go from there,
where they're pushing, and obviously Dragonly is someone that they're
they're trying to build momentum for to take on these americanos.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
So yeah, a great display overall.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
We then had the final match on Raw, which was
the main event, Oscar taking on Rear Ripley. The way
the match ended was that basically Oscar told Kyrie Staying
to attack and saying went for a spinning backfist and
then re Ribly caught the attack and as she caught
(11:59):
it went to go for a hip attack, Ripley moved
out of the way, Askar hit Kyrie saying off the
apron and that's when Ripley rolled Oscar up for a
pin and took the win.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
There.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
It was a great back and forth match as well.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
Oscar's just amazing and ringing, so it's just always good
to see her in.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
There as well, and I'm really liking.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
Her jump to her character and her just hitting this
sort of heel run and and yeah, she might be
bossing around Kyrie too much. I do think that, and
Kyrie just looks very scared, which I don't really like.
But again, Askar is just doing a really really good
job here and it obviously leads up to what happens later.
We have Ascar missing rear Ribley, which was which is cool,
(12:43):
nice surprise. You could see that the blue and green
myss went right over Ripley's face and she couldn't see anything.
Then we had Sane getting the getting asked to attack,
or Oscar telling Sane to attack Rea Ripley, So she
did that.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
She punched her a few times.
Speaker 4 (12:58):
That's when Ersky came into the ring begged Oscar to
stop this, and Osker acted as if she was sad,
and we all knew what happened at this point once
she hugged Sky to let go of the hug and
then hit a switty backfist to.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
Ear Sky, so Oscar turns on er Sky. No surprises here, something.
Speaker 4 (13:20):
That I think is going to be very good for
er Skuy being able to have a few that's not
involving the title.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
And Rey Rippleer being involved.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
For me, I think it's gonna tee up a potential
Wargames women's match. She had Nikki Balla being Stephanie va
Kers lawyer in the backstage, which is like, why you
need to do that. Stephanie v Ker obviously involved as well.
Askar is just having a goal with the four of them,
so it looks as her that they're going to set
up wargames. We had Kyrie saying though before we wrap
(13:50):
up that wargamest chat, we had Kyrie saying, go to
the top and hit an insane Albert on sky obviously
with Asca forcing Saint do that, but yeah, this is
the whole turn of ASCAR, and it looks as though, yeah,
they're setting up war games. I think this is the
one that makes sense Team sky Verse team Asca. They
(14:10):
might have a match before that, but I think this
leads up to Wargames Winners war Games where I don't
know who's going to join Aska, and Kyrie is saying
because it doesn't seem like they have many friends, but
we already know the opposite side that we have rear Ripley.
We have Nikki Bala, Stephanie v Ker, Eosky and I
(14:31):
reckon they're just going to add Ajly in there for
the fifth because it's been a while since you've been
in the ring.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
It makes sense.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
And then Becky Lynch will make the third member up
for Team Ascar. But again there's no official sort of
War Games teas, but you can see that they're slowly
building up to that. Even on the other side of
the card and the men's match, you've got Paul Hayman
team like teaming up with brock Lesnon as well and
(14:56):
being his advocate. I think he's going to go into
a War Games match with Vision as well, and you'll
see like a crazy stacked baby faced lineup with maybe
c and Punk Roman Reigns.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
John Cena, Randy Ordan, and Cody Rhodes. You never know,
it could be that, but John.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Cena will definitely make an appearance at Wargames and that's
for Surders.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
So yeah, lot's happening.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
But before that, Crown Jewel is coming across in two weeks,
and this wraps up the main event review for this week,
But next week we'll obviously go back to another review
and then that will preview Crown Jewel. As these PL's
are really fast approaching which they always seem to do,
and then main events coming up as well, and then
(15:38):
obviously wargames, which is what we talked about there. But
that's a nice quick main event review for you guys.
Once again, thank you very much for tuning in and
I'll catch you guys next week.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
Cheers, horrible.
