Speaker 1 (00:07):
What's up, everybody.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Welcome to the WWE After Dark Show. This is the
show where we talk about things in the darkness, just kidding.
I'm your host, Luis Gonzalez, and today we're going to
talk about Triple A Mania. I was able to check
it out on YouTube. There's a partnership between Triple A,
Lucha Libre and WWE. I was able to watch that
on YouTube. You know, they're joining the big global market,
(00:32):
so I got some thoughts about that. But before we
do that, I'm going to talk about LFG. You know me,
I'm an LFG guy. I watch it on A and
E every Sunday.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
That's not true. I actually just caught up on LFG.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
I missed like the past two Sundays or two or.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Three, so I cut up on all of them. Cut up.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
I caught up on all of them, and a lot
easier to catch up on them too, because last year
was an hour and a half. This year it's an
hour long with commercials, so a little bit less than that. Anyway,
let me get to my point. The point is is
there is some drama happening on LFG. Again, if you
don't know, this is about four Hall of Famers teaching
(01:15):
young bucks how to wrestle, and in the end, one man, one.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Woman will get a contract. NXT.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
This is the second season and we have people who
are returning from the last season, so you know, they
got a little fire in them. They got the iead
the Tiger, they got some grit. They have a little
bit of feelings about not being picked last year. So
we have a little bit of that past drama carrying
onto season two. So that's the idea. There's I believe
sixteen quote unquote future greats. Those are the rookies and
(01:47):
four legends those are the Hall of Famers. We have
Bubbare Dudley, Undertaker, Booker T, and Michelle McCool who Michelle
McCool is Undertaker's wife or significant other or something like that.
Before it was Mickey James and Mickey James is gone
and now Mitch Mcmichelle McCool is there and started to
(02:07):
cast some dram in the beginning of the season, where
Booker T didn't really like that because he said, I
don't know, you too are going to start teaming up
against all of us, so he started to sniff it out. Well,
as the season has progressed, Uh, there reached a moment
when you know, they all vote for their one person,
like today, this week, we're going to give a point
(02:29):
to this one woman and this one man, and that's
how the kind of competition goes. In the end of
this they all voted for this one particular person, and
this person's pretty good, but there's this one standout person
who is kind of expected to possibly win this year.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Anyway.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
More importantly, Bubba Ray Dudley stands up and basically says,
there is a conspira see going on. Okay, that this
is the third time Undertaker and Michelle McCool have voted
together on the exact same thing and throughout the and
(03:13):
a side note for me, throughout the season, you start
seeing Booker t eyeing Undertaker Michelle McCool when they start
doing votes, and I first caught it, and I was like, Okay,
this is a little suspicious. But when I caught it,
Bubba caught it. And then again the next episode they
both teamed up on voting for the same person.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
And because of all that, you know, they're voting for
kind of each other.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
To be honest, they're own each other to each other's teams,
and you know, Bubba Ray Dudley was calling out, like, listen,
you guys are voting for somebody who you think did
pretty good, but you're completely ignoring the person who's been
killing it this whole time, and the only complaint you
have against them is that they haven't been improving even
though they're the best, and there's no one else to
(04:00):
take them on kind of situation. So Bubba's got a
little heat on those two, and Booker T is just
not digging the situation at all. So there's a little
bit of drama, and then Booker T Bubba Ray Dudley
rock walks away from the scenario, and Undertaker says under
his breath, yeah, i'd walk off too, And then Michelle
(04:22):
McCool says, yeah, that's laughable. And I don't know, I
think I'm seeing too much of Undertaker. I liked it
when he's a little bit more mysterious. Now I'm seeing
his human side. Uh. It's fine, I suppose, but it
is funny to see this kind of go down. They're
not wrong. They have voted the last four times for
(04:45):
the same person. I mean, you know, you forget in
that situation when you're with your signific another or your
wife or whatever, and you watch a movie.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
You I mean, sometimes you agree.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
You know, you both you both creating a together when
you experience something together. And I don't know, it is
kind of shady that that's happening.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
So we're halfway through LFG. We're gonna see how it goes.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
I mean, I guess I'm gonna keep counting how many
times both of them have agreed on the same vote.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
So this is.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Four four weeks now that they've agreed on the same vote.
We'll keep the count going. We'll see how it shows
up next week. Is this conspiracy real? We'll find out.
We're gonna talk about Triple A Mania. This is kind
of the WrestleMania for Triple A started on YouTube three
hours long. Okay, I'm just I got some notes down.
(05:41):
We're just gonna go through it. Okay, first things first,
we had an introduction, We had this big announcement. We
had WWE with the chairman and the CEO, the president
of Triple A all in the ring together, and you know,
we have smiles coming from Triple H smile from Sean Michaels,
(06:01):
and you look to the Triple A leadership on their side. No,
smiles at all. Huh, I wonder why. I honestly don't
know anything about Triple A. This is literally my first
time I missed out on the World's Collide video event.
So I thought, this is what the Russell mania for them.
This has got to be big. Let me tune in
(06:23):
I can talk about it. And so my first introduction
to them. I don't really know the drama that's happening,
but it can't be good, even Triple A. Kind Triple
A Triple h looked over to the President and looked
at her, kind of touched her to kind of.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
I guess, maybe get her to smile.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
I'm not entirely sure, don't read into it that much,
but trying to connect with her, I'd say. But then again,
you see them throughout the show, and they just do
not seem happy about the situation. Possibly, you know, I
I should have researched more into it before I came
into the show.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
I know they're in a partnership.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
As far as ownership goes, I'm not sure, but I
do think that they have some sway in how things
go and are said. I'll do a little digging and
come back with a bit more report, But that was
very interesting.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
The match.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
The WrestleMania started off. Triple A Mania started off with
almost a royal rumble of sorts. Fourteen men are called
out instead of thirty, and it's every ninety seconds. And
this is a strict ninety seconds, y'all, Like it is
not Oh, now it's time to bring the other person.
They are locked in, and you know what, I respect
him for it.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
It was a great way to get introduced to a
lot of.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
The cast of people. Seems like we started with some
older legends or things like that. Then things started to
pick back up. Started off a little slow, but then
it got going. Things started. Things are very fast in
this but it was nice to jump into something again
blind where I knew nothing about no one and I
(07:59):
just had to go off instinct. And that's kind of
a very cool feeling to get off some to get
to go off of sometimes just to have no expectations
and just see somebody and then you know, you immediately
judge them, and then you change your judgment and then
they win you over. It's so cool when they when
they win you over, and unfortunate when they when they
(08:20):
lose you a little bit.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
You have high hopes of them, but funny enough.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
You know, this is a partnership between w W and
Triple A, so you know, royal roumbers are crazy for uh,
you know, Rando's coming in, uh out of nowhere. Otis
is called in the Alpha Academy music kicks in. Where
here's Otis been. He's been out right uninjured and he
(08:47):
comes out. What a surprise, What a way to find
out that he's back. The crowd loved him, and the
crowd was calling Otis, Otis, Otiz, It's a of Otis,
So that that was fun, you know. Then had they
had all the sorts of people, lots of energy, lots
of masks, obviously different kinds, like how many ways can
(09:09):
you make a mask? A very dramatic, very and very comical.
You know that we had Microman come out. This is
the tiniest luchador I've ever seen in my life.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Let's see how tall he is?
Speaker 2 (09:25):
He is twenty six years old.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
How tall is Microman?
Speaker 2 (09:30):
He is three feet and three and a half inches.
They're like, hey, we're fighting for that half inch and
I get it. I would too, three feet and three
and a half inches. Microman comes out to take on
these people and him and Otis. They just cling together
like a fun little group. But then this guy named Ozmost,
he's like the largest man ever. I think he comes
(09:52):
from the new Japan wrestling thing. Let's see, Ozmo's a WWE. Okay,
he was in WWE. Okay, so let's see. I missed
him when he was with w but now he his
tenure in pro wrestling. Noah a Japanese professional wrestling Okay,
(10:17):
so you guys know him.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
Uh, let's see how tall he is? Height?
Speaker 2 (10:25):
Seven foot three Okay, So seven foot three man going
into a three foot man and what do you expect?
Just the man just put a he just he just
lifted his foot and put it down and that knocked
the little Microman down.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
You know.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
He used one rope, the bottom rope to get some
momentum and couldn't do it.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
But very funny, you know, they know what they're doing here.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
There's also a guy named La Parkas, La Parkas, La Parkas,
And what's crazy about I was Lopodka Lapodka, and I
was trying to get some information about him, and I
was like, oh, this man is dead, so what's going
on here?
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Why is he back?
Speaker 2 (11:11):
Apparently this is the third lapodka, laparca. I'll say it
for the English way, but it's lapodka. It's the third iteration.
And I guess Triple A owns it. And I guess
he quote unquote came back from the dead to fight again.
He was the iron Man person. He was the first
to come out and the last one to get out
(11:32):
and to leave, to lose, to go over the ropes,
and uh, that's crazy to me. I guess that's like,
is that disrespectful? I mean, like, you know, if the
Undertaker passed, then you have another Undertaker. I mean, I
guess it works out because they're all in masks. But
you know, I found that in to be interesting and
(11:57):
interesting about this rumble too, is that you get a trophy.
But also you don't just get out by being thrown
over the.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Top rope. You can be called out by pinfall or
by submission.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
So that's actually what happened with Otis is he got
knocked out by Osmos and Microman took advantage and just
got on top of him and pinned them and thus
ended their fun little relationship. They're a fun, great way
to start it off, a lot of energy. I originally
(12:32):
started to listen into Spanish. I was like, Okay, how
much Spanish can I actually listen?
Speaker 1 (12:36):
What's the vibe? You know?
Speaker 2 (12:38):
And then flipping back and forth, I decided, now I'm
gonna speak to English because I want to be very
much in the dark.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
I understand Spanish and I can get pretty far.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
But it was late and I just needed to be
comfortable and understand what was going on. Okay, let's move
keep moving on. Guys, the LWO and La Garsa, like
they aren't silenced in WW. They they don't come out
a lot, they don't have a really good story they are.
They seem very generic. You know, it's like, what's their deal?
(13:14):
Let me tell you them showing up to Triple A
you see the WWE difference, or you see why they
got called up to WWE. Not to say people at
Triple A aren't good. I think they are. And I
think there are people in WW who may not be
top tier either. But when you see them bring the
(13:36):
intensity to the matches, you're like, oh, I see, yeah, yeah, yeah,
I understand why you got pulled into it. Now, like
you just bring it up a notch higher. I think
the Lucha's are doing some crazy stuff, very creative, things
as far as intensity and hard hitting, they were really going.
(13:57):
And again there are some people who matched them as well,
but they just really shined there, and and Otis really shined.
Although they did try to wrap one of La Garza's
with a bar wire or on their face and their body,
and I'm like, okay, if that happened, he would be
(14:18):
severely injured, loss of blood, probably going to die.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
That's a little too unbelievable. And there was no blood.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
They put a Spanish fly on him with the barbed
wire over his mouth and his body.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
That was the craziest thing. But everything else was pretty cool.
You know.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
Again, the production value is not the same as WW.
Not to say it's not equal. You can just feel
a little bit of a difference. Major thing is the
microphones were peaking. It's when it gets very distorted when
people are screaming, especially the Grande Americano. And let me
tell you that man, Grande Americano, he is committed to
(14:57):
speaking Spanish. Who is I wonder, but Grande is very
committed to speaking Spanish, and I love that that he's
It's not just one or two words like see no
yo kierro vamon nos vama nos Maxico, like, no, he
is saying full sentences, so I commend I commend you
(15:17):
for that. We're gonna get back to La Grande American.
On a second, there was a uh we had judgment
day with Oh my god, why am I say Rachel
Raquel versus Iguana somebody else?
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Know? Is it iguana? Man, I'm getting it all confused.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
Yes, Iguana somebody else and a Lola Ice. I didn't
see many other women there, so I guess it was.
I mean people people love Lola Ice to tell you that, Uh,
not as much as when you see WWB matches. It's
like every other match is kind of a woman match.
(16:05):
Here was this one. But then so that was cool,
But then there was it was also a fun match.
But they also had what's it called a Women's Championship
with Natalia for some reason, she's she's there if you
say it sounds Spanish Natalia. But what's funny about that
match is that I've never seen, or really remember or
(16:28):
you know, experienced a heel ref. The ref very much
was on the side of the champion, who I think
was also a heel. The ref was counting very very
slow when the champion was a pot to get pinned,
and when the champion was pinning someone else, very very fast,
(16:49):
super funny, different way of kind of seeing the matches,
like oh wow, yeah, now you have to.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Fight the ref as well.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Of course you have celebrity refs that come in that
tried to mess with the match, but you know, going
into it fresh, I didn't see this coming. When you
have a celebrity refue, you do have like a suspicion,
but you didn't hear.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
Very fun.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Also, sometimes just like normal people are wrestling, you know,
you have the americanized version where people are kind of
like super legends, gods looking, you know what I mean,
who just look like at their top basique whatever, which
is cool and fine obviously because it's like, look at
(17:36):
these gods.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
Going at it.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
But it was also nice scene like kind of normal
looking people fighting. Yes, yes you had your buffed you know,
two percent fat people as well, but for the most
part you have some people who are just normal looking
and that was also fun. It's fun to get different
tastes and you know, it's we're an interesting time where
you know, Teena's partying with WW and yes, there may
(18:01):
be some bad things about these partnerships. But it is
getting eyes to these people that you know, I would
never have seen before. I wouldn't have seen Triple A.
I wouldn't have known anything about TNA, and you know
they are they have WBE is giving these people the
Midas touch where you know? If yes, you know, does
it ruin it that now that there's like more WWE
(18:22):
people in these Triple A matches, is it watering it down?
Speaker 1 (18:27):
Is it not giving opportunity to other Triple A people? Possibly?
You know, And again I don't know.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
If historically WB has showed up. I don't know what
their relationship has been. It was suspect the way leadership
was acting at the top of the show, not happy
unless that's how they are, But it's you know, things
are changing, and so I saw it.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
It was interesting to see new people.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
And you know, it's seeing WW twent and there does
make you want to see it. Unfortunately, maybe they'll cool
off and they'll give it have some pls that are
just for Triple A where people after a year they've
kind of acclimated it, they know who some of these
people are.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Now they'll get excited. They can give that room. But
we'll see.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
So that was the Natalia that match, and then we
had the main event, and what a main event it was.
I think we had Grande Americana coming out singing in
Spanish the a ya ya yai gni noyoris borg. Anyway,
it's like a Spanish, very popular Spanish song.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
I feel like Americans, some Americans know it. Ah yah ya.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
Ya don don done. He comes out singing it with
a mariachi band. Mariachi band comes out and he starts
singing it the whole thing, and it's like, this guy
is really committing to being like I am the people,
I am with Mexico.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
I love it. It's so funny. The crowd was behind it.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
At some point, his tempo was a little bit off
and he was out of sync with the audience, out
of sync with the band, and you just see the
band kind of be a little confused about everything. They
were just like, what do we do now? But you know,
commitment to the Grande American they didn't stop. Followed up
(20:26):
by Dragon Lee and he had these kind of dope
dragon wings that expanded when he came out. Now, like
you know, you have Cody Rhodes who has that mask,
that Iron Man's to the face comes off, which I'm
not a big fan of. But when Dragon Lee came
out and he was just standing there and then wings
(20:46):
popped out of his back, I was kind of here
for it. The way it worked with the music, I
was like, man, now we got some little personality behind
this guy.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
He looks he was.
Speaker 2 (20:57):
Kind of pretty cool. He got a little bit of
I think he should have got a little bit more.
I mean, my god, he's part of the community, right,
but then comes dominating Mysterio and he comes he gets
a hell of a pop, very big him and El Grande.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
He's got Live Morgan.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
Uh on on. He's got Live Morgan's face on top
of on top of a painting of Jesus on you know,
he has his shirts. That's been like a trend lately,
whether you put Live Morgan into historical figures. Live Morgan
was also on uh the Mona Lisa, So you know, listen,
he's got Live Morgan on the mind. Still he still
(21:37):
loves his weaditah, So I'm happy to see that. I
kind of don't want to see him turn on Live
and go for rock stand because then if he does
it twice, then that makes him a sleeze back. If
it happened once, then there was relationship problems. All right,
that's my head cannon, okay, me defending dom No, okay,
(21:59):
so let's talk. And then we had okay, then we
had this last guy named Kingo.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
I think his name is Kingo Kingo triple a wrestler.
Looking it up.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
I don't even remember his name, Eliko Kingo. He's supposed
to be the Kingo, He's supposed to be a face.
But almost immediately this man has bood he before he
even walks out. They have a camera in the back,
you know how like Cody Road sometimes walks through the
back before he walks on the ramp.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
You know, this has a whole walk path.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
He's like kissing babies, saying hello, saying goodbye to his friends,
saying goodbye tos trainer, things like that.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
They're doing the.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
Same type of treatment here, probably something they never did before.
WW immediate boo. I've never seen anyone more booed in
my life. Like everything he did, he bowed. He would
do a cool ass move, boode, he'd do a jump boo,
he would uh everything. I've never seen someone so systematically
(23:02):
booed before, and I looked it up, and I guess
what happened was there was a controversy with him taking
up the championship belt.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
There was another person who had the belt.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Here here, I'm looking it up because I went on Reddit,
and okay, this is what it says. He is the
corporate champion Mexican fans. This is from burn five x
on Reddit. He's the corporate champion. Mexican fans really love Alberto,
Alberto del Rio, Alberto Patron and Triple A. They could
(23:44):
see right through what was happening and essentially seeing VI Kingo,
the guy who is now the champion and was booed
as Sina the baby face that's going to be pushed
no matter what, which is a shame because he can
go in the ring, but they hate him so much.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
They're not even good. Good in ring work makes the
booze go away.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
Also, they mentioned on commentary he was championed for like
eight hundred days last time he held the title, so
that probably doesn't help.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Another comment by.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
Uri Puppies sounds like it's a big dog Roman type situation,
and from sounds like a big dog Roman type situation.
And I read the past comments and they were saying,
this is a twenty fifteen Roman situation.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Okay, back to the quote.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
Where people feel he's Overpushed's key Fabe ended the career
of the super popular previous champion, Alberto Del Rio. Honestly,
I can't imagine anything worse that they could have done
to the poor kid right now than to expose him
to an international audience of haters who won't be happy
we lost double belt dom. Who won't be happy we
(24:47):
lost double belt dom? Yeah, so yeah, so it's very interesting.
I've never seen him a boo in my life before,
Like that's crazy. Overall, I think very entertaining. It was fun,
it was entertaining, and you know, I think it's different,
and I think difference is good.
Speaker 1 (25:07):
Different is good.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
You don't go to the same restaurant, you know, so
trying something some trying something else out.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
I still haven't seen a T and A match.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
Would love to, would love to experience that. I mean,
I've seen them compete in like NXT and things like that,
but I feel like Triple A is different. Like that's
a whole culture thing, that's a whole history, that's a.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
Whole way of like there's.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
A whole system and there's a whole leaving cultural and
system that's different, and I like just as like I
don't know, personal likes different cultures to experience that, Like,
I love to see I would love to go look
at the new Japan wrestling and see how that is.
I think, just wrestling in different areas of the world.
(25:56):
They focus and have different strengths, so you know, wild, theatrical, crazy, faster,
you know, impressive.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
Different.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
So well, I see it again, Maybe maybe I will.
I don't know yet. It depends on the card, depends
on my gut, depends if I saw I see a
favorite that I saw from this show back up again
and I'm like, you know what I did like that guy?
Speaker 1 (26:28):
Let me see him.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
There are some people who were intense and throwing themselves
out doing old school wrestling, you know, big hits, slow movements,
things like that. So you do get a little bit
of everything. It's just not to the level of WWE.
If that makes sense. You'll get it when you watch it,
you'll understand it a bit more. But if you do
watch it, give that Royal Rumble just a few seconds
(26:52):
to get a couple more people on there, and then
we start rolling fun to see.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
Oh and I forgot what a surprise.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
Ajson Styles shows up out of nowhere to take down
Dirty Dom and that was so awesome.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
That was so fun.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
It was great to obviously come from the WWE into
Triple A. I feel like they made this for someone
like me to have a good time. Whether that's ruined
past Triple A's it got more eyeballs, you know, I
have to imagine. But very cool to see aj just
