Speaker 1 (00:02):
Listen WWE superstar Drew mcintyr, and you're listening to the
WWE podcast, the one that everybody wants me so light

(00:26):
welcome as this is my you're gonna acknowledge me.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. Hello, whatever time it
is with you and wherever you are. Thank you for
downloading this SmackDown review as part of the WWE podcast.
As always, it's an absolute pleasure to have you listening along.
I am Amanda at your host of the SmackDown Review,
and as you all know, I am back on X.
Please give me a follow. I am at Amanda SD review.

(00:56):
So before we get into it tonight, let's talk really
quick about raw from Birmingham. What a crowd. I absolutely
love it, but I guess I'm British, right, So I
go to football where we chant for ninety minutes straight.
That Becky comment. The heel thing is to talk down

(01:17):
the city, whatever city or town it is you're in.
I get it for me. A bit too soon for
the old Ausie Osborne comment. And I guess his family
are within their rights to speak out if they aren't happy,
but to get her to apologize I think is a
big extreme anyway, a good raw in terms of promos,
but for content, I think we're on rinse and repeat

(01:40):
over there before we get into our main event, which
is SmackDown. Let's talk really quickly about Clash in Paris
and some predictions. Sina versus Paul. Let's start off there.
Am I allowed to say? I don't care Sena win?
Please God? The four way for the titles, that's Seth

(02:00):
A's Champion versus CM Punk versus Juco versus l A Knight.
I think Seth retains, but there is some significant shenanigans
obviously with the Vision, and maybe do we get a
new member of the Vision. There's a lot of rumor gossip, etc.

(02:22):
Around on X and various podcasts there might be a
new member in the wings and so maybe this is
when that person gets introduced. Could be male, could be female,
could be Becky, don't know. Rains versus Read. I am

(02:42):
praying for a win for our OTC win for Rains,
and I'd like for him to get his shoes back
because I'm sure they look expensive, right Seamous versus Russeth
in a no Deh match whatever they're calling it a
Donnie gor match, or some think again, I'm really sorry,
but I don't care. It's terrible. I literally don't care

(03:08):
who wins that, and that would if I was in
the stadium, which I'm not, that would be my toilet
brick match. Becky versus Nicky Bella for the Intercontinental title.
I think possibly a Nicki win. I think some shenanigans here,
possibly involving a new Bailey character. I have everything crossed.

(03:29):
Come on for the Demented Hugger. That is where I'm
hoping we're going listen. All in all, quite underwhelmed by
this card. Obviously I'll be watching it because it's wrestling,
but I do feel a little bit for the Paris crowd.
I suspect though, they are going to make the most
of it and have an absolute ball Before we start

(03:51):
on some very important business. Yes, most people in the
UK call it Telly. Let's watch Telly. What's on Telly?
We also call the remote control the hoof of doofer
or the detonator. So what's on the Telly? I don't know.
Pass me the hoofa dufer and I'll check the TV guide.
So yes, we do call it Telly and wanka. What's

(04:13):
the wanka? Well, what would the equivalent in the USB.
I'm not sure, but I guess he's a dick would
be the closest. But there you go. Let's get to
it and review the SmackDown that aired on the twenty
ninth of August from Leon in France, and we start
off with Cole telling us that we are live from
the City of Light. I don't think they are. They're

(04:36):
in Leon, which is not the City of Light. The
City of Light, it's Paris, so we are actually in Leon.
And we get our arrivals. That gives us Solo and
his MFT. He's got a match tonight against Sammy for
the US title. Tonight. We've got Cole with Wade on Comms,
and they tell us that we've also got Drew on

(04:59):
the show tonight. Go straight into a reminder of last
week's Killer segment with Seena and Logan. Paul, I actually
missed a vital part of last week's show. I missed
the subject that Nick was going to talk to Seena
about last week before seeing it got laid out by

(05:19):
Logan and he said something like I've just had Brock
on the phone and he wants to something something something,
And then we get the Logan Paul blindside, so at
least that is still happening. At some point we get
Logan arrive into massive booze and he makes his way

(05:40):
right to the ring and the boos are even more massive.
This guy has got so much I hate you heat.
Pausing the ring and Wade is explaining that Logan did
take some shortcuts to get where he is over the
last four years, which I'm not sure what the point
of that was, but there we go. He's got the
mic and the boozer deafening. He says Scenic called him

(06:03):
a parasite, and he says it sounds like the French
crowd think he is a parasite too. He says he
doesn't even know if they understand him, but he's going
to stick to English as he is an American. Sigh.
Just really, He says, it's not him they have a

(06:25):
problem with. It's change they have a problem with. He says,
he isn't a parasite, He's the opposite. He's a disruptor.
I'm not sure technically speaking if disruptor is the opposite
of parasite, but I guess he's making a point. The
crowd of chanting f you logan, and like last week,

(06:46):
he seems to be quite annoyed by that tells the
crowd to shut up, and I think it's because, genuinely, honestly,
he knows that the F word is getting bleeped out,
which means that basically no one is hearing his promo
at home. He says he was hired to shake up
the WWE, and that's what he did. He goes on
to list the facts that have happened since he signed.

(07:07):
He says he put WW on Netflix, he brought WW
to ESPN, and the value he brings is incalculable. He says,
you're welcome, Tao. The crowd start up the fu chant
again and they even boo Prime. He says the WWE

(07:29):
is becoming the ww ME and he is the future,
if they like it or not. He says, the outdated
one who's keeping them all going is John Cena. He says,
last week Tina Sina told him to bring his a
game and that's a joke, as he as an athletic phenomenon.
He tells Sena that he's an impostor in French and

(07:52):
says when he beats Sina Sunday, he will show everyone
here is the future, and if you can't change with it,
you'll get left behind. Thankfully, seen A's music hits and
the crowd go absolutely nuts for the first of many
times this evening. I mean talk about a chalk and
cheese reaction, and I guess this is the pure good

(08:14):
versus evil and what wrestling at its core is all about.
We've got the goodies and we've got the baddies, and
that is what this is. Sena has the mic and
only after his special ring announcement, he says to Paul
that he's stupid. He tells him that you can't do
it alone and if they don't have the fans, they
don't have a show. He says, they won't get left

(08:36):
behind as they are the ones that set the pace
and hold the keys to whether or not Paul gets
accepted by the WWE family. Sina says he's sees so
much potential in Paul and that's why everyone gets so
frustrated with him. He says, everyone knows that Logan won't

(08:57):
put in the effort of trying to understand what actually
goes on around here. He says, if Logan did his homework,
he would see that he isn't a disruptor, He's a wannabe.
He says that Logan is standing in the ring with
one of the original disruptors who wore jawts and sneakers,
even though they said he'd be fired if he did.

(09:18):
A man who changed championships. I'm guessing that's a comment
about the spinny belt that he had and pissed off
the fans. He tells Logan he's trying to be him
knocking people out with brass nuts. He was doing that
twenty years ago and they said word life on them.
He tells him that this is his first lesson in

(09:39):
basic psagonomics and Logan Paul is no more than a
dollar store John Cena, which I thought was an excellent
little passage of promo. I really enjoyed it. He says,
you claim to have done all these achievements, but his
influence isn't what it once was. He says, yesterday he
saw a list of the twenty five best influence in

(10:01):
the world, and Paul wasn't on it. Sena says, you're
pasted it. You made prank videos and disc songs in
your teens, but now you're in your thirties. You aren't
here to save wrestling. You're here to save your own ass.
He tells him. They don't feel fear change, they just
see through his bs. Sina tells Logan everyone is sick

(10:24):
of you. We give you all the opportunities and you
give no respect. At that point, Sina leaves the ring
and tells Logan that he will show him how he
shows respect. And then he walks up the ramp and
he finds in the crowd the crying kid from Brussels.
He is in my hug, and he apologizes to him,

(10:45):
which is just completely adorable. Logan starts being a douche
scene and tells Sina to wrap it up. Sina says,
find dickhead, you ask for this match, bring it on.
He says, you have twenty four hours to sort out,
sort yourself out, or you won't save wrestling or even
ruin wrestling. Wrestling will ruin you now. I think this

(11:09):
was a pretty strong opening segment tonight. Paul's promos are
predictable and a bit dull, but once Sena came out,
it absolutely lit on fire. Genuinely a very cute moment
when he apologized to that kid in the crowd and
again the best bits of the story set in truth
with the top twenty five influencers thing which I went

(11:31):
away and checked, and yet it looks real. Don't you
think Sina is going to be a huge miss when
he does finally go, If he's really gone forever and
it's not one of those I've retired, No, I'm back.
I think he is going to go go. I think
it's going to be a massive miss. And I think
maybe he is the last world champion, or maybe I'm

(11:52):
going soft anyway, hoping he gets the win and shuts
Paul up. On Sunday, I bet we see Brock and
what next for Logan? Honestly, who cares? I really have
no time for the guy. I think he forces himself
into storyline after storyline, and I don't think anyone really cares.

(12:13):
As I've said a couple of times many times before
on the show here, I think he makes good moments
and he does good spots, but not good matches. So
that's my opinion. Let me know what you think. We
go backstage to Kathy Kelly. She has the profits and
beefab with her. She asks them how they're going to

(12:36):
navigate tonight, and they say missus all talk and Mellow
isn't him, so they are confident. We then get Bo Dallas,
who says, is the blood running through your veins the same?
Are you family? Because the Wyat Six are, and when
you come for us, you will understand. This is a
fun little twist that we've not seen before. Even though

(12:59):
the Six are currently the tag team champions, they don't
tend to get involved in any of the shenanigans apart
from showing up and sitting ringside. So I think this
is good. We've got some mind games from Bo Dallas,
playing with the idea that one or the other of
the profits may turn heel on the other. And haven't
we been waiting for that to happen for like the

(13:21):
last eighteen years. Why I guess we have. Color me intrigued.
Now back in the ring and we've got the women's
tag title match and it's the tag champs, Bliss and
Flair versus the Secret servis This might be a good one.
Did you guys see the news this week? I saw

(13:41):
an article I don't remember where or who to credit,
but it suggested that Bliss has said that she knows
she's going to join the White at six when the
time is right, I'd love to hear your thoughts on that.
I'm okay with it. Once these two drop the belts,
I think I would like to see Bliss and Cross
and Bliss generally in with the wire six. I think

(14:03):
that would be quite fun. What do you think? Flair
still getting absolutely brilliant reactions from the crowd and looks
to be loving it. And as they're in the ancience way,
we get a blind side attack from Chelsea Green and
they have to be dragged off Charlotte who has been
battered here As we come back from a promo video
about Wrestle Palooser, I mean, what the f even is that?

(14:27):
Let's stick a pin in Wrestle pal Looser and come
back to that another week. Jesus. Anyway, the match has
been changed to a one on one at Chelsea versus Bliss,
and Bliss is off to a flyer whilst Cole explains
that the Secret Hervis have lost their championship match due
to their actions. That's not something we see very often ringside.

(14:52):
Shenanigan's from Albert trying to help Chelsea out, and Cole
says Piper isn't here either, as she's not medically cleared.
So wait, if Piper isn't here here, then what Chelsea
and Albert aren't a team and they weren't the one
who earned the opportunity, So this was never happening, was it? Anyway?

(15:12):
Back to the match and the crowd not surprising the
firmily behind Bliss as she gets the upper hand back
on Chelsea and takes out Alba for good measure. Bliss
gets the first close pin of the match as the
crowd start off this is awesome chant. Chelsea counters sister
Abigail and gets herself a close cover. This one ends

(15:32):
in a flurry of counters to finishers and Bliss gets
a sneaky roll up and takes the win. There is
afters as Albert attacks Bliss and Chelsea joins in flair,
comes down on one leg to make the save and
she does well, also doing her popularity no harm at all.

(15:54):
Being the hero. Green gets the best of her hitting
the pretty hair, leaving Chelsea Bliss laying in the ring.
So I guess a rematch for the secret hervis whenever
Piper Niven is cleared, Let's have Chelsea's band from ringside,
or we are just on at infinite rinse and repeat.
So let's get this match done. Either take the titles

(16:19):
off Bliss and Flair, although that wouldn't be my preference,
and give him to the secret hervis or leave them
on Bliss and Flair and let them move on to
a new set of competitors. But let's not get stuck
on this one. Backstage again to Kathy Kelly, who has Sammy,

(16:40):
she asked him how he's feeling, what he thinks the
eals are for tonight. Sammy says he feels great and
so confident. He says he feels as good as when
he main invented Mania. He says it's the time and
there's no better place than Leon and he tells them
in French that he will be the new champion tonight.
We then get news from Cody and his wife has
had a baby, which is great. There must be something

(17:04):
in the water backstage at WWE all these babies anyway,
I guess that's why we didn't see Cody for a
few weeks. We then get a promo from Alistair Black
pretty much of a much ness spooky wookie candles and
saying how dark I mean he is and how he's
going to do naughty things to Priest. He says he

(17:24):
wants to show the world who Priest really is. And
he says he is leaning on his chest whispering I
warned you metaphorically. I presume. Well, that's a new level
of weirdness. We go straight back to Kathy Kelly. She's
the busiest girl in WWE. Tonight. She's got Priest with
her and asks him his opinion of what he just watched.

(17:46):
He says that Black comes across very educated, and he
says that he thinks he wants to be like Priest,
but he isn't and he should know better than to
make threats. He says he's going to teach him a
lot about pain and he's going to enjoy all of
the violence when they have their match. Now, have we
got a match in the books for those two or

(18:06):
are we still just talking about it? It might have
passed me by, but I don't think so. We've now
got meeching. She's facing Keana James, and if she wins,
she gets a title shot against Juliet for the Woman's
US title. Now, I think this will be good. I
haven't seen any of Keano James. She brought her handback
with her though perhaps she's going on somewhere after no

(18:29):
judge and this was not what I was expecting. The
bell rings. Keana tries to use that handbag to Meeching,
but Meechin uses her momentum against her, gets a quick
roll up and the win. BlimE me, Charlie. After the match,
Julia and Keana start to beat down on meeting. I mean,

(18:51):
it's a shame. They are dressed up in their in
gear with no one to fight, so here we go. Surprisingly,
no one coming out to make the safe for meat,
no sign of beefab. They seem to have forgotten that
their best is and the beat down goes on. Juliet
and Keana have gone full heel and that's okay by me.
So I guess this one goes on and Meeching with

(19:13):
the US title shot at some point. I'd really like
them to keep the title on Julia for a good while.
I'd like to see I get a nice long run
with some interesting opponents, and this Keana Angele is interesting
in her management advisor role whatever she's going to be,

(19:34):
So yeah, like this one. Let's get the Meeching title
shot done and dusted and then let's have Juliet move
on some new competitors as well. Up next, we've got
Drew apparently to address Randy, and Drew gets a massive
pop from the crowd. To be fair, he asked if
Randy is around, He's checked under the ring. He looks
in timekeepers. He asks Cold if there's a medical update

(19:56):
from Cody, Well, I mean work. You're listening, Drew, there's
a baby. There's not an update officially on Cody's medical
I suppose. He speaks to Randy and says, face me
like a man, give fans what they want and get
out here so they can sing your song. Randy obliges,

(20:17):
and the crowd go absolutely nuts again. He takes about
three go throughs of his song to get to the ring.
Finally gets to Mike and Drew tells him if you
attacked me for you, that's fine, or if it was
because of SummerSlam, that's fine too, But if you did
it because you think Cody is your friend, then you
were wrong. He doesn't have any friends. He then says,

(20:41):
when you were out for two years, I bet Cody
checked on you every day, and that wasn't because he's
your friend. He was gathering intelligence. Did you notice he
didn't hesitate to hurt you At King of the Ring.
He tells Randy he is an idiot if he think
Cody is his friend. Tells him that he makes a
complain compelling argument. But if you think I dropped you

(21:04):
last week because of Cody, you're wrong. I dropped you
because you are a prick. I have to agree. I
think Drew is a prick. He leans it in to
deliver that line, and as he does, Drew delivers a
Glasgow kick, goes for the claim or, but Randy dodges,
setting him up for a draping DDT, which he hits.

(21:25):
He's just about to hit the RKA when security comes
out and breaks it up. Randy gives rkos to everyone
who who've tried to stop him, and he's got Drew
lined up for the punt, but he manages to slide
out of the ring. So this was an interesting segment.
Randy does seem to maybe be hearing what Drew is

(21:49):
saying about Cody, and perhaps this is a bit of
a setup for the eventual Cody turn. I definite think
it's brewing, especially after the booze for Cody on Raw
this week. If you guys heard even Roman commented on it.
He might be on the turn already, like an old
point of milk. So that's on this bit of the story.

(22:12):
I think Randy stays face as he's so over right now.
The other element here is Randy think Drew's a prick,
and I, for one agree he is, and there is
clearly something brewing between them which would be a pretty
epic match in my opinion. So is that being lined
up also for a wrestle paloser, And again, let's stick

(22:35):
a pin in that and revisit it another week Wrestle
po looser. Backstage, Now we have Meares prepping for his
tag match. Mellow says, what's happened in the last two
weeks can't happen tonight. You can't steal my wins. Miz says,
it's not like that. We have to win tonight and
get a title shot, and then again we get both
Dallas he says, perception isn't reality? Can you handle that?

(22:59):
And he shuffles, I'm enjoying this Bodallas stuff tonight, just
interjecting himself into people's brains. Very good. That much is
coming now we've got so this is street profits versus Mellow,
and wez for a number one contend the match against
the White Six, and as we start off, Miss and

(23:19):
Mellow once again don't seem to be massively on the
same page. But we have Ford and Mis in first,
and we've got Ford showing off his amazing athletic ability.
We get a blind tag as Mellow comes in the
Dawkins is also in with all his power on show,
smashing up Mellow pretty good early on. Some shenanigans from

(23:43):
Mis allows Mellow to hit nothing but now on Dawkins,
but the rally doesn't last long as Dawkins' power pays
off again right on cue the Wyat Six appear and
just stand at ringside, causing the distraction to me is
who was just about to get the tag in This

(24:04):
allows the Profits to hit the revelation off of that distraction,
getting the win, pinning Mellow. So Profits are number one
contenders and they will get a title shot at Clash
in Paris, so that's an added match, and for me,
I've got the Wyat six retaining the tag titles at

(24:26):
Clash and going on perhaps working their way through some
other teams in the division. Hopefully that's the end. Of
the road for Mizz and Mellow as a team. I
am so over them. Should be a good match at Clash,
two very different styles in the two teams we've got.

(24:47):
We then go to Tiffy backstage. She's got Jade Standard
behind her, who says, have you heard the news? I'm
the number one contender for my title? It's weird that
she's calling it her title. Surely you can only call
it your title if it has at being your title
at some point, like Nia Jacks. Yeah, Like she's annoying
as hell and I really hate her, But she can

(25:07):
call it her title because it has in fact been
her title. Jade hasn't had the title, she can't call
it her title anyway, so Jason number one contender. Jade
says she's going to snap Tiffy in two. Tiffy tells
her that she's undefeated in twenty twenty five. Jade says,
when she beats her, all that ends. I can't even
with this. There's no way they can be thinking of

(25:30):
putting the title on Jade, not from Tiffy. It would
be an absolute crime. I bet they do, though, I
feel like I can feel it coming. It feels like
I know I said this before, but it feels like
the big, mindless push that Roman got throughout his Big
Dog years when he was Big Dog and he was
being forced on us and no one was really having it,

(25:52):
no one was really enjoying it, but they kept pushing,
they kept pushing, they kept pushing, and he only really
got over when he became the OTC. That's what I
feel we've got here with Jade. I don't think we
want it up. Well, I'm not going to speak for
you guys. In my opinion, I don't want it. I
don't want Jade's champion. Don't think she's there in terms

(26:13):
of her ring capabilities. I'm sure potentially at some point
she might be. She certainly seems to have a lot
of potential and she's definitely got the look and all
that stuff. But is she ready for the big title
right now? I don't think so, let me know what
you guys think. Backstage again, and we have Solo with

(26:35):
his MFTs and he is talking down Sammy, saying he
doesn't believe Sammy thinks he can take his title off
him and it won't happen. One spike to the throat
and it's all over, and that match is up next
down main event, which is Solo versus Sammy for the
US title. Both guys get the appropriate crowd reactions. Sammy

(26:58):
absolutely off the chart, does him no harm that he
speaks in French to the crowd. I think they really
like that. This one kicks off pretty even with Sammy
chucking Solo over the top with but the massive talatonga
protecting Solo from a flying Sammy. We then got Sammy
getting the upper hands, smashing Sammy in the corner with

(27:20):
his arse and gets a two count. Sammy starts to
get a bit of a hold on the match, but
behind the rest back the MFTs make their presence felt.
Solo hits spinning Solo and gets a super close count,
and then get Jimmy showing up at ringside, followed by
Jacob Fattou who are out apparently to even things up,

(27:41):
taking out the MFTs at ringside. Off this distraction, Sammy
hits Blue Thunderbomb getting an even closer to count was
like nanosecond in it. We've got carnage at ringside as
the MFTs brawl with Fatou and Jimmy. Several close covers
here for both guys, and this really is an excellent

(28:03):
match and well worthy of the title main event. This
one ends somewhat surprisingly when Solo goes to hit the spike,
which Sammy ducks, delivering a kick to Solo, sending him
to the corner and following up with another full on
Halluvah kick, getting the pin and winning the title from Solo.

(28:27):
I thought this was an absolutely brilliant match, the best
one on SmackDown for a while, and we have a
new champ. I think Sammy is absolutely the right person
to have it. We go off air with Sammy celebrating
with the crowd masses of Pyro and I think again,
we've got the US title elevated. We've got another title

(28:49):
on Sammy, which is fantastic. Pleased obviously that he's come
over to SmackDown. And as I said, yeah, US title
elevated with someone the stature of Sammy holding it and
hopefully getting a good run. I thought, all in all,

(29:10):
this was a decent show tonight, another excellent Sena promo
and one hell of a main event, including a title switch,
so the French crowd must be delighted at that. And
the MFT is getting neutralized by Jimmy and Fattu could
we be shaping up for something war game Z possibly,

(29:32):
although I can't really see not intended past the vision
being involved as well. That was all great stuff. A
little bit disappointing that we never got the women's tag
match we were hoping for, but we lived to fight
another day with that one, I guess. And although as
I've already said, I'm not super excited about Clash in Paris,

(29:55):
I'm not excited. I love the European crowds, appearly with
them in full voice is going to raise it a
couple of notches anyway, So I'm sure what it lacks
in decent matches and well told stories it will make
up for in atmosphere and I'm sure the Paris crowd

(30:19):
will absolutely make the most of it. So guys, listen,
reach out to me on X, let me know your
thoughts and feelings on where we're going. Let me know
what you think about this. Russell Palooser, I'm guessing this
must be an American thing. I've never heard such a
word before in my life, So yeah, if anyone wants

(30:40):
to reach out and give me a bit of info
on that, that would be great. So that just about
does it for this week's show. Thank you as a
way to having me in your ears once again, and remember,
until next time, be kind.

I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
