Episode Description
In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast I walk you through some simple nutrition tips that you can always fall back on. No hacks. No perfection pressure. Just practical steps you can try today even if you feel like you cannot get a handle on eating.
We start with slowing down. I talk about how taking three deep breaths before you eat can pull you into the moment so you are actually present with your meal, instead of rushing and inhaling the whole plate in fifteen seconds. I also explain why I take my first bite and chew it for about fifteen seconds. Not to be fancy. To set the pace for the entire meal so I am not stress eating on autopilot.
We also get into some super tactical additions you can make at almost any meal. Add a serving of produce. Fruit or veggies. If you eat bigger meals a couple times a day, try one to two servings with each plate. If you eat more often, work it in where you can. Over time, those little additions add up and you might find yourself regularly eating five to seven servings of produce in a day. Which puts you ahead of most people, honestly.
Then we talk about water. I am not telling you to stop drinking caffeine, soda, diet soda, any of it. I am telling you to drink water in addition to what you are already drinking. When you do that consistently you naturally start choosing water more often without forcing it. I also share one way to get ahead on water first thing in the morning. Drink water before your coffee. Even one glass. Stack that habit early and it makes the rest of the day easier.
The bigger idea here is addition instead of subtraction. Add water. Add produce. Add presence. When you build your foundation around what you are adding instead of beating yourself up over what you think you have to cut out, everything feels more doable and more sustainable for life.
