In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I go deeper into one of the simplest but most powerful nutrition principles I’ve ever learned — addition before subtraction. Before you start cutting out foods or restricting yourself, focus on what you can add. Add more nutrient-dense foods. Add water. Add balance. When you start there, everything else begins to fall in line naturally.

I also talk about a question I’ve asked coaching clients for years: “How’s that working for you?” This one question can completely change how you look at your weight loss process. If what you’re doing is bringing you both results and happiness, you’re in the right place. But if you’re hitting your goals and still feeling guilt, shame, or anxiety about your choices, then it’s time to rebuild your foundation around your preferences.

Your preferences are your puzzle border — they’re what hold everything else together. When you build your eating, movement, and mindset habits around who you actually are, instead of what you think you should be doing, you create something sustainable for life.

I also open up about how my own journey with cerebral palsy shaped how I view fitness and body image. For decades, the industry has told us to fix ourselves, to chase someone else’s version of “fit.” I’m telling you to do the opposite. The real change happens when you remove the guilt, stop chasing perfection, and learn to enjoy the process of taking care of yourself.

This conversation is about rebuilding your foundation — physically, mentally, and emotionally — and stepping off the weight loss roller coaster once and for all. You already have what you need inside you. Now it’s time to build from there.
