SPEAKER_00 (00:01):
So I've been
watching a lot of Isekai lately,
and mostly Hulu is just keepsrecommending it to me.
But I am so tired of Isekai.
Like I'm serious.
There's so many Isekai.
Oh, they got died or they gotsummoned to another world and do
this and do this and do this.
After a while, it felt so playedout.
And the thing about it is thatIsekai was the most popular
(00:22):
genre of anime.
Even now, it's still one of themost popular genres of anime.
Now I'm not gonna sleep onreincarnate as a slime,
reincarnate as a sword, wiseman's grandchild.
I love those series, but itfeels like it's a whole lot.
I can reincarnate as avillainess and um villainous and
redid the hero the villain, fellin love with the villain, or
(00:42):
something like that.
Like, I mean, I've done reviewson some of those, and those are
good, but it's just it's so muchhappening, and it's like, yo,
what in the world?
Even when I say this, I'mreviewing this one right now,
how the realest hero wound upsaving the kingdom.
And I was I'm actually excitedto work to review this one
because it is so different fromevery other Isekai, but
(01:04):
definitely gonna look out.
I have another one I'm gonna bedoing a review on so Professor
Tuck says that he wants to goahead and hop in on one with me,
so we got a range of time thatwe can go ahead and do that.
That one's supposed to be um myinstant death abilities of
power.
So if you definitely seen that, look out for that review.
But in Surrealist Hero, like Isaid, this is one that is very
(01:24):
different from every otherIzekai that you've ever seen in
anime, and I literally meanthat.
This isn't one of those oneswhere it's like, oh, the
character is overpowered.
This isn't even one where oh thecharacter is building up his
power, he's like the underdogand then kind of moving his way
up.
This doesn't focus on power asI'm super strong and can take
(01:45):
out my enemies with a strong hitand strong fight.
This is like cold Gias, LelouchBritannia style.
This is light yagami death notetype style.
Our main character Soma is ananalyst, he thinks things
(02:11):
through.
In fact, his magical abilitythat he gets in this other world
isn't even one that's primarilyused for fighting.
It can be now, it can be.
You could you can easily see itbe used for that, but he uses it
in a political aspect.
He's a poltergeist, he's able tocopy his subconscious into
(02:31):
another object.
You can easily see him like, oh,he could fight with multiple
swords type of thing.
Instead, no, he uses it to puthis consciousness in different
pens so he can fill outpaperwork at the same time, so
he's able to experience like ashadow, it does have shadow
clone jutsu properties.
Like he did make a puppet and heput his subconscious inside the
(02:54):
puppet.
The puppet was able to go on anadventure for him while he was
busy doing what he was doing, and the puppet was able to kind
of go out, experience thethings, but the puppet's not
overpowered, it's not like asuper strong thing, it's it's a
puppet, so it gets it's durable,it's durable because it can't
die, but still, it's just one ofthose ones that's like, okay,
got you, and he can relive thoseexperiences.
(03:17):
Well, he as the puppetsexperiencing things, it's like
he's there living it, he getsall of that experience to
himself.
So it does have that goodqualities into it, but he uses
it as a political aspect.
You see, Soma is different.
Soma, like most main characters, lost his parents at a young age,
(03:37):
like every anime protagonistever.
So he gets summoned to anotherworld, but before he does, what
happens is that is we have tounderstand his coping mechanism
for this.
His coping mechanism is keepingpeople away by protecting them.
He protects himself by notgetting close to anyone, so he's
(03:57):
not having to be afraid oflosing them, like how he lost
his mom and dad.
His grandfather was raising him,and before his grandfather died,
told him that's not a goodcoping mechanism.
You need to build a family.
So family is the best thing thatyou can do for yourself.
Don't keep everything toyourself.
Build a family, love them.
You're gonna have someone youwant to protect that's gonna
(04:19):
give you a good purpose.
Not having your family just kindof staying to yourself all the
time is not good for you.
Now, granted, real life-wise,there's some people that thrive
better by themselves.
Hey, if that's you, do you sayhim?
But for Soma, that's not thecase.
He's like seeming like a boringguy.
He he's bored with life andeverything, so he needs
(04:40):
interaction.
That's the thing.
He needs that.
So, at the time when it finallycomes time for it, his
grandfather dies, he's living onhis own, and he gets summoned
into another world.
He's living in school, a giantmagical portal pops up below
him, and he falls down and goesstraight into this magical
kingdom.
Now, this is where things becometwisted.
(05:03):
Because those of you who havebeen longtime listeners of us,
and thank you again so much, know that there's an anime that
I actually really do like, andit's a very gory, gruesome
anime.
And it is how the healer getsrevenge.
Um, that's not the actual nameof it, but as to know if you
know what I'm talking about, youknow what I'm talking about,
anyway.
But how the healer like gets hisrevenge and stuff.
(05:27):
This is a very similar aspectbecause you see, Soma winds up
getting summoned to this magicalkingdom.
The kingdom is in debt, it'sbroke, the people are starving.
So, what the king did was heordered the hero ritual to
happen, and the plan was to sellthe hero to another kingdom that
is currently fighting the demonking right now, so that way they
(05:51):
can kind of get past this wholemoney situation that they're
dealing with.
And so, as soon as he finds thatout, like almost immediately can
get in there.
He's like, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
You're trying to sell me to makesome money?
Yeah.
Hold on a second.
Let me see.
If y'all got some financialtroubles, now I'm I'm a realist,
(06:12):
I'm an analytical person.
I think things through.
Let me look at y'all kingdomfinance stuff and maybe I can
help y'all out.
You know, he starts us offbecause he's trying to save his
own bond.
He like, hold on now.
I'm not a fighter, per se, I'mnot that type of that type of
guy, and I'm not feeling thismagical powers that y'all talk
about that I'm supposed to begetting.
(06:33):
And so it's like, so let me dowhat I do best, let me figure
things out for y'all.
The king, after three days ofSoma looking through finances,
makes an announcement, goes upand says, Everybody, listen up,
ton up.
He's your new king.
Me and the queen is steppingdown.
(06:54):
He's betrothed to our daughter,so you can't uh say nothing
about it.
I deuces and just bounces.
Literally, just like that.
Happens just like that.
Nobody knows what happened.
In fact, everyone starts goingafter Soma, like, did you do
something to the king?
Did you like brainwash him?
Did you do this?
He's like, No, I don't know whatyou're talking about.
I was literally reading up, andI was told the king had a
(07:15):
special announcement and I hadto show up.
I'm half asleep, I'm tired.
I ain't slept in I don't knowhow long.
And I'm here, and all of asudden I'm told I'm your new
king.
I found out the same time y'allfound out.
Like, I don't understand what'sgoing on.
The king just dumped this on ourhero and left and just bounced.
Every single time people aretrying to find a way to talk to
the king, get some information.
The king and queen both like, nope, not happening.
(07:38):
But this is where it becomesvery a lot more interesting.
Because this whole story is allabout plot twist, of course.
But the king, even though he'sthe king, isn't the rightful
person to make this type ofdecision, and this is why it is
that Soma getting the kingdom, why it is that nobody could say
anything about it.
Because Soma is betrothed to theprincess.
(08:01):
Okay, Lisa Elfredan, she's theprincess of Elfredia, this name
Kingdom.
Uh, the thing about it is thatLycia, her mom, is actually the
rightful ruler of Elfredom.
So the thing about it is thatshe married the king for the
king to become in power, andthere's a twist into that as
(08:22):
well, too.
But I'm not gonna spoil thatbecause that is one of the
biggest plot twists that happensat the end of season two.
And I'm gonna do a quick runthrough of season one and season
two.
I'm not gonna spend too muchtime on this.
So the thing about it is that isa huge plot twist there that
pertains to the queen, andeverybody has their own special
magical power, but nobody knowswhat the queen's power is, and
(08:47):
there's a reason for that, andthere's also a reason why it is
that she married this king aswell.
Too all of that pertains and isimportant to our hero later on.
Just gonna mention that, butgoing back into it, because
she's the rightful ruler and shemarried the king, is why the
king is able to make thatdecision, but even then, he
(09:08):
still can't make a decision likethat without the queen
accepting.
The queen accepted this.
In fact, they made this plantogether to give the kingdom to
the hero and the both of themstep down and not tell anybody.
That's where it became a bigthing.
And you're like, wait, what?
Something seems really weird andreally off, and I don't
(09:31):
understand why, but okay, sothey're gone.
The princess has absolutely noidea about this.
She was gone, she came back asfast as she could, and she's
like, What did you do to myparents?
And he's like, Look, I have noclue, okay?
I just got the kingdom dumped onme.
Y'all in the worst financialbind that there is.
You have people starving rightnow, your kingdom's about to
(09:52):
fall apart, and you guys arelike the second biggest nation
in the world, and you're aboutto be completely decimated and
destroyed.
And the neighboring kingdomsknow this as well, too.
And there's a demon king on therise trying to take over
everybody.
I got too much on my plate rightnow to be like doing all this,
okay?
I didn't ask for this.
I got brought to this worldagainst my will.
(10:14):
I didn't ask for this, and nowI've been dumped this kingdom,
and now I gotta fix everything, and it all falls on me.
So look, you can either help meor you can leave me the fuck
alone.
One to two.
I just need you to pick it up.
Tell me what you're gonna do,girl.
And I love that he's justrealistic like that.
He doesn't say it like that, butstill, he's realistic like that.
Like, look, girl, I'm justtrying to figure things out.
(10:36):
And she's like, Well, if my dadtrusted you, mom trusted you,
there must be a reason.
So I'm gonna watch you and we'regonna see what we're gonna do.
But if we find out that you didsomething, I'm gonna kill you.
And he's like, by all means, byall means, now please let me get
to work.
There's some paperwork here thatneeds to get filled out.
If you wouldn't mind sittingyour behind over there and help
(10:58):
me out, that would be great.
Because he's already got everyhigh priest working paperwork,
everybody's working paperwork.
They're trying to find money, they find there's money being
laundered in the kingdom, there's a bunch of rich people,
a bunch of nobles that's takingmoney like normal, of course.
And so the poor are starvingbecause there's no money, the
poor are starving because theking, even though he's a great
(11:21):
king for peacetime, he's not agreat king for wartime.
For you see, there's this theother thing about this story,
and I love this story becauseit's a so much world building.
Every kingdom has their ownstory, every person has their
own story and how it all meshestogether.
It feels so holistic.
Go figure, anyway.
For you see, what's going on isthat there is like six or seven,
(11:44):
seven kingdoms.
Let's say seven, seven kingdoms,I don't remember exactly how
many.
Um, but right now we only mainlytalk about three in season one
and season two.
So there's seven kingdoms, andwhat it is is that a new portal
popped up out of nowhere, anddemons started rising out of
from it.
Now, demons, when I say thatterm, I use that term loosely.
(12:05):
In fact, even Soma would use theterm demon loosely because it's
very different here, and we getto that.
You see, demons poured out thisportal, and they started
overtaking everything, and nowthere's a war of humanity versus
demons.
So there is one really bigkingdom is financially well and
(12:27):
also is military wealth, butinstead of trying to force
everyone to join the fray, theydecided to create a contract
called the contract of humanity, where every kingdom is supposed
to sign and says, Hey, we're notgonna go to war with each other,
but instead we're gonna helpeach other so we can take down
the demons.
Once that's done, the contract'snot avoid, we can go back to do
(12:47):
what we're supposed to what itis that we normally do.
The thing about it is that somekingdoms like that, some
kingdoms didn't.
And so what happened is that theking never signed the contract,
which is also important.
There's a reason he didn't doit, but we don't know that.
The king never signed thecontract, he handed the kingdom
over to Soma.
(13:07):
Soma saw the con saw the treatyand also refused to sign.
But Soma said he refused to signbecause he saw a bunch of plot
holes in it.
You see, the contract only hadthree things.
You're not gonna go to war withyou.
If you go to war with eachother, you're not you can't take
over another kingdom.
You got to share resources, andit's just I can't remember
(13:29):
exactly all three, but the thingabout it is is that any con is a
contract, there's only three.
I'll be honest with you.
Any contract that we sign here, whether you sign a contract for
a job, you sign a contract asfar as selling things, or you
sign a contract for somebodyelse, whether you're doing a
contract child support, orwhatever the case may be, no
matter what contract it is yousign, there is because of
(13:49):
legality issues, there usuallyis no less than 10 to 12
sections or bullet points thatyou have to pertain into because
there's so many differentdetails, and even those are
broken down further.
So you made a super simplecontract of only three things,
it was easily, easily able toexploit it.
And a lot of other kingdoms knewthat, and Soma saw that.
(14:13):
The other kingdoms signedbecause they knew they could
exploit it to their own game.
Soma said, No, we're not gonnabe that type of kingdom and
refused to sign.
In fact, he does we get anopportunity to meet, and I'm
kind of skipping ahead intoseason two, but it's okay, that
we wound up meeting a characterJune, Jean or John, um Euphoria.
She is the sister of the queenof of the the other super big
(14:37):
kingdom, um Alicia.
Uh so what happens is is thatshe and this is so interesting
into this.
Um sorry, not Alicia, Maria.
Maria, sorry, I'm mixing this upanyway.
Maria, Alicia's the queen.
Um, Maria and John Euphoria.
So, what it is is that theirkingdom, they're the ones that
help create this contract.
Maria, she's known as the saintof the people, which actually is
(15:00):
a big issue because a lot of thereligious people hate that she's
called that.
She does not give her that, giveherself that name.
The people gave her that namebecause she is such a kind,
sweet person who does things forher kingdom and for the people.
Like I said, that kingdom isdoing well, not just
financially, but alsomilitary-wise, because they take
(15:21):
care of their rich and theirpoor.
They have a good balancedsystem.
Now, Jean also has a good reasonfor that, too.
She is the head of the military, she does not like taking any
type of slack.
If she knows some people isdoing some bullshit, she handles
that situation.
Understand that she is thatperson, but she's also
reasonable and understanding aswell.
Too, these two are the perfectsisters, the perfect dual queens
(15:44):
to have ruling the kingdom.
They do a fantastic job, butthey're not the best when it
comes to working alongside otherkingdoms.
That's where it becomes a biggerissue.
Soma realizes this when he seesthe contract.
He says, I can tell y'all don'tknow how to work with other
kingdoms.
You're great at working yourkingdom, but not other kingdoms.
(16:04):
There's no balance here, andthat's where it becomes a big
problem.
So Soma works out his ownagreement with them.
But if we get an opportunity ofmeeting with Jean, there's a lot
of information that happens whenwe finally get a chance to meet
her, and we'll get to thatmomentarily.
But they're the kingdom euphoriais the one that's primarily
handling the main assaultagainst the demon king, they're
(16:24):
keeping them held back, but itdoesn't mean that the war hasn't
caused a lot.
There's refugees in every singlecountry, every country handles
things their own different ways, and it's just it's so much chaos
that happens everywhere.
Soma sees all this, and he'slike, and I have to balance out
all of this and take care ofthis kingdom.
So much that goes into it, andso because of that, when he
(16:47):
season one and season two goesinto a lot of details, but
there's so much that getsmissed.
Soma admits that he admisses somany things he misses.
Now I want to dial back realquick.
Humanity.
I said that we're using thatterm loosely and demons loosely,
what you see in this magicalworld is very different from
Japanese society.
You see, in Japanese mythology, not just Japanese mythology,
(17:10):
Greek mythology, all of that isthe fact that gods, monsters,
demigods, demi-humans, demons, only all of that stuff.
Every religion pertains the sameway.
You have humanity, which isprimarily just people like us.
That's it.
If a person is a mixed blood ofany type of mythical creature or
(17:34):
any type of animal, per se, likeif they're a furry, uh, animal
person, whatever the case maybe, you are no longer considered
human in our world.
That is not the case in themagical world.
You see, human to them, humanityis what we would consider our
normal people.
(17:56):
Furries, yes, I'm talking aboutstraight up animal, walking
animal people who are like walkand talk like regular humans and
stuff, and you can mix breedwith them as normal.
There is the mixed, there is themixed bees, they're beast men,
they're called beast men, butthe mixed breeds, which are from
the furries and the humans thatput the elves together.
(18:19):
So we get them as well, too.
So, because of that, there's somany different varieties of
human elves are considered humanin this world.
We don't consider that here inthis world at all.
Very different, very different, and that's one of the things
(18:41):
that's most important here.
It's like, oh, okay.
So humanity is used very looselythere.
They consider all of themhumans, and Solomon makes a good
point in mentioning this when hefinally gets an opportunity of
speaking with Jean.
Because Jean winds up making avery good point that she
mentions.
She has eaten demons before, butit's one of those things that
(19:02):
why it is that she's done so.
You see, she ate what theyconsidered a wild demon.
There's some demons that clearlyhave some form of intelligence,
and there's some demons that donot.
So, you see, in other anime thatwe see here, a lot of demons can
talk to each other.
That is one of the mostinteresting aspects of it.
(19:24):
The reason I say that is becausethe fact that demons can talk to
each other and can talk topeople is usually like, oh, we
hate humans, we want to eat youand stuff like that.
You guys are so weak, you havesuch weak magical powers.
In this world, humanity, theloose term, all of humanity
cannot speak to the demons, andvice versa, the demons cannot
(19:47):
speak to the humans.
Every those two races speak twodifferent languages, they can't
understand each other.
It's not possible, and that'swhere the discourse comes from.
So they're constantly at warwith each other and they have no
idea of what's really going on.
No one knows what the other sideis really thinking.
(20:07):
And so the thing about it isthat the wild demons, when Soma
had a chance of listening to thestories and getting an
understanding, he says, So, um,these wild demons versus the
intelligent demons, what if it'sthe same thing as you and I
here?
He said, What do you mean?
What if the wild demons, whatyou guys consider wild demons,
to those intelligent demons, those are their animals, those
(20:31):
are their livestock.
They don't command them andcontrol them, they're they're
not working alongside them, they're just animals to them.
What we consider birds, cats, dogs, if you decide to have a
pet, or maybe just wild deer, wild boar.
(20:53):
And you said that you taste ademon, you ate a demon, it
tasted no different than theanimals that we had here.
That pretty much sounds to melike they're the same.
You didn't eat an intelligentdemon, you ate an animal demon,
and because you saw theintelligent demons cook and eat
the wild demons, that's why Ithink that you went further to
(21:14):
explain to them about how it isin the world he comes from,
which is very based on ours, that the term demon is used very
loosely, and humanity is usedmore tightly.
That in our world, we would notconsider the beast men to be and
the elves to be human what'swhatsoever, you'd be considered
something different.
(21:35):
And so he's like, That's justhow it is in my world.
He says this big difference.
I have to think about it sodifferently in your world.
But how many years I've lived inmine, and it's just that's just
how it is growing up.
That's what we grew up, that'swhat we learned.
So it's it's so different.
He's like, Oh, and I'm like,Okay, now we have a chance of
opening up from your mindset andwe see how you look at things,
(21:58):
it actually makes more sense.
We're fighting against thedemons, and we have no idea
what's really going on.
They're fighting against us, andmaybe they don't know what's
going on.
Exactly.
That might be the case, andthat's important to understand,
and that's one of the ways thatit really breaks it down into
(22:19):
the series, and you're startingto understand the way I'm
talking on the forest, why Ilove it so much.
You covered not every singlebase, but you covered a lot of
different details.
Okay, we do have little one-offlittle story missions here.
There is a moment where theelves wound up taking a huge hit
because a bunch of elves wind updying in a massive landslide.
(22:40):
Soma realizes the fact that he'sbeen focusing so much on trying
to focus on farming and foodbecause he had to fix the
kingdom's farming issue, he hadto fix the kingdom's food
supply, he had to fix thekingdom's military, that he
realized he didn't take care ofthe security, he didn't take
care of the support, theemergency services, he didn't
take care of those things.
(23:01):
So a bunch of people died, andhe blamed himself heavily.
They're like, Well, no, you didwhat you could.
He said, No, we had to march ourmilitary here.
Our military was all the way onthe other side of our country,
fixing up roads, trying to helpexpand to a new kingdom, and we
had to put that on pause to comeall the way to the other side of
our country to fix this issueover here because I didn't set
(23:27):
up a proper emergency situation.
I put up all of our militaryhere when I only should have put
a portion of it here and shouldhave left some back at the
kingdom, they could have gottenhere faster.
More people could have beensaved.
That's my issue.
He takes this job veryseriously, it becomes a big
importance.
(23:47):
In fact, it's so important.
Let's talk about more into thekingdom of Euphoria.
Not well, not Euphoria, sorry, into the kingdom of Amadonia.
Amadonia, neighboring kingdom, and this is one of the biggest
crucial points of this series.
It's probably the only fight,yeah.
The only it's the only fightthat we actually have in the
series, really.
Um, Amadonia is a neighboringkingdom, it's a military
(24:10):
kingdom, but their people aresuffering heavily.
People suffering because theking he is strict on his
military.
80% of taxes goes to themilitary, and only 20% goes
towards the kingdom.
The streets are not taken welltaken care of, the people are
devastating poor.
(24:31):
Amadonia has a big issue withthe kingdom of Elfredia because
you see Elfredia had a quickpause.
I'll get to edit it.
So Amadonia with a neighboringkingdom had big issues with
Elfredia because they Elphridiaacquired for this contract, of
(24:55):
course, a piece of land that wasoriginally Amadonian.
Amadonia hates that.
They absolutely hate Elfrediaand been constantly looking for
an opportunity to take war andtake over, which they finally
got an opportunity because whenSoma ascended as the new king, a
civil war wound up breaking outinto the kingdom.
(25:16):
And as is a very interestingcivil war, I will get into that
in a moment.
But first, before I go into thatcivil war, I also need to talk
about more into the charactersso we get an understanding.
So coming back, and Bedoniawinds up finding an opportunity
to try and infiltrate theKingdom of Elfredia using that
civil war that was taking placeto try and usurp Soma and try to
(25:40):
get things taken care of there, and it could wind up claiming
back that territory and destroythe Kingdom of Elfredia.
It didn't work out specificallybecause of one specific person.
You see, this one specificperson also knew of the secret
that the king and queen washiding, and he took that secret
(26:01):
to his grave.
He still refused to give thisinformation, but used it instead
to become one of the greatestheroes that Elfredia will ever
have in history, while alsotaking the blame of the biggest
traitor of Elfredia.
(26:23):
But I'll come right back tothat.
Um, if you can't tell, he is myfavorite character in the
series.
Anyway, coming back.
Um, so Amadonia winds up havinga big issue.
Um, the war winds up failinghorrendously, of course, because
Soma is a good strategist, andbecause of that one person that
wound up helping him take careof the Civil War, they were able
(26:44):
to not only take care of theCivil War, they were also able
to take care of Amadonia andsecure Amadonia.
Now, that's the reason that wewound up meeting Jean later,
because uh for Euphoria later, because of that contract with
humanity.
You're not allowed to take overanother kingdom at this time.
Now, had this not been the case, had they not been fighting the
(27:05):
Demon King, then it'd have beenwhatever.
But because of this contractthat's been signed, Amadonia has
the protection of Euphoria, soElfriega still had to return the
kingdom back.
It was very interesting how thisworked out because Gene knew
exactly what was going on.
So the king, he died, he wentdown fighting.
(27:26):
So the king is dead, and theprince winds up ascending as the
new king.
Well, he becomes the new king.
What happens is that Soma takesover the land, but what he does
is that he pauses therestoration of Elfredia, sends
his army, his military, and hisrelief over to Amadonia, and
actually helps fix up thatkingdom.
(27:47):
He takes the tax money that wasused for the military,
distributes it out to the commonpeople so that way people are
able to eat again.
The people who constantly feellike Elfredia was the absolute
enemy.
It's their fault that they haveto deal with high taxation, it's
their fault they have to dealwith all this nonsense.
Now understand that never mind, the kingdom is not that bad.
(28:08):
It was actually our previousking to blame.
He is the issue, and he was thereason.
We're glad he's dead.
Elfredia is actually taking careof us.
That's where it becomes morefun.
You see, not maybe more fun, notin the fun way, but you know, I
mean military way.
Well, you see, what winds uphappening is this because
(28:31):
Euphoria stepped in, they had toreturn Amidonia back to the
prince, who now ascends a newking.
But the prince is exactly likehis daddy, and when you have a
group of people finallyexperience freedom from their
military rule to actually havetrue freedom, now being forced
(28:52):
back into servitude into amalicious military society
again, things don't tend to gowell.
Amadonia had a civil war,Amadonia reached out to Elfredia
and asked for help.
Elfredia said, absolutely.
Because the people specificallyrequested Elfredia take and
(29:16):
annex Amadonia and make it apart of their kingdom.
Because of that, the contract ofhumanity is null and void.
That was one of the loopholesthat Amadonia was planning on
exploiting.
Because Amadonia didn't saybecause the old king of Amadonia
did that.
(29:36):
He tried to get the commonpeople, to get the nobles, to
get the rich, to hate the newking Soma.
And if they requested theassistance of another kingdom,
that is a loophole of thecontract.
Amadonia had an opportunity ofseizing back their territory
again.
It was all part of the plan, butit wound up being the biggest
(29:58):
UNO reverse.
Because Soma used that exactexploit right back against them.
And then explained to Gene ofthe exploit and how it was
easily able to go through.
And she understood at thatpoint, oh, our contract is
filled with plot holes.
He was like, exactly.
That's why I never signed.
(30:21):
But your contract is absolutelydirt poor.
I'm not signing that.
So that was a whole thing there.
But she respected that.
She understood.
She said, Okay, I can see.
I can see it now.
We have a lot that we need todo.
So after Amadonia winds upgetting annexed and becomes
Elfregian, Elfredonia is now thenew name of the kingdom because
(30:42):
they mixed in the name.
They even took in a lot ofAmadonian customs and mixed it
in.
So that way that areatechnically still being part of
Elfredonia is they still havetheir own culture per se.
You know, you're a part of it.
It's like think of an like uhI'm in America doing this
(31:03):
podcast, but uh we have likeChinatown and stuff.
You know, we respect a lot ofChinese cultures and stuff
there.
Hey, in this area, you do asChinatown says there's a lot of
uh a lot of Mandarin people herewho follow their own customs,
you're gonna follow what theysay.
And I say Mandarin because mostChinatowns that I've seen, at
least personally that I've seen, are generally Mandarin, and it's
(31:25):
more Chinese is so generic, there's so many different
different specific sections ofcultures in China.
Just let's not be rude there.
So Mandarin is mostly what I'veseen.
There are other ones, it's justmostly Mandarin, but anyway, so
it's kind of like that.
That kingdom there still wereable to maintain their culture,
but they still had to followElfredonian rules, but that was
(31:47):
fine, they were able to workwith that.
Now, of course, it means thatSolomon has a lot more to deal
with because they only had threeneighboring countries.
Now that they took on Amadoniaand made Elfredonia, they now
have five neighboring countries, and one of those countries also
does not like Elfredia.
So that's gonna be more fun forseason three.
(32:09):
Anyway, let's dive back to theCivil War.
But like I said, before I can gointo the Civil War, I need to
talk about some very importantcharacters.
So I've given the all this I'vetalked about before is mainly
just the background of thestory.
I've talked about Soma, but I'vemostly just talked about the
background, and there's so muchbackground to this anime in just
(32:33):
the first two seasons.
There's so much to appreciate, there's so much detail that's
put into this.
Absolutely love this series.
But now we're gonna go ahead andtalk about these characters
here.
So, for Soma to be able toacquire Amadonia and be able to
change the name to Elfredonia,he had to get the permission of
(32:55):
the proper bloodline royalty.
Now, Lycia, um Elfredia, well,Elfredonia's queen, she had no
issue with this.
She was perfectly fine.
After she saw what was happeningto Amadonian people and saw that
they can make their livesbetter, she had absolutely no
issues with this.
She was perfectly fine with it.
But you need a bloodline ofAmadonia to do that.
(33:16):
Well, it just so happened thatthe king of Amadia that the late
king of Amadonia not only had ason but also had a daughter.
He did not like his daughterbecause his daughter was a
little bit sleazy, she focusedmore on money and handling the
money aspects of stuff insteadof the military, like how he
wanted her to be.
So he wound up just abandoninghis daughter.
(33:38):
But technically, she's stillbloodline, and because she's so
great with money, because she'sreally just an underground
merchant, but because she's sogreat with money is the reason
why 100% of the funds never wentto the military, and there was
still at least 20% to keeppeople alive.
That was her doing.
Solma recognized this when helooked through the paperwork.
(33:58):
He found that out.
He was like, Hmm, you see, whenwe look at the treasury, look
through records and stuff, itwas additional money that was
clearly been put to the side.
So it was either a rich, wealthyperson that did it, or somebody
who had some smarts.
And considering the fact thatthe people were not fully turned
into military, somebody wassmart.
He recognized that had to havebeen princess.
(34:20):
So he now has a princess as hissecond queen.
Actually, I think she's third,if I'm correct.
Yeah, if I forget, I think she'sthird queen.
Anyway, yeah, yeah, she is.
She's third.
Because yeah, uh, there is aharem into this series, but
we're gonna get to that.
This is there's a little storyinto that one too, but whatever.
Um, I might talk about it, Imight not, I'm not sure.
(34:41):
It's not majorly pertaining tothe story, but it's it's pretty
cool.
Um, um, we'll use how it goes.
Because Soma only doesn't hedoesn't like having a harem, he
really only wanted one person, but you know, at this point he's
like, I care for all of y'all,so we're here.
Um going back into it.
So Ramoa, Amadonia, she is thebloodline of Amadonia, so she
(35:07):
marries him, and now they alsohave the now he has the
permission to change both namesof both kingdoms and properly
meld them together, and he hashis two queens there.
Now let's talk about some of theadditional characters with the
Civil War.
Now, the Civil War, Elfridon, like Elfridonia, well, Elfre
back when it was Elphridum, theyhad a special policy in place
(35:28):
for this specific kingdom.
You see, because I mentionedabout that humanity being kind
of loosely.
Well, the thing about it is to alot of the older people, they
knew racism existed, theyweren't stupid, so they set
apart a very special systemhere, and you could count the
(35:48):
system very similar to whatwould have been our checks and
balances of democracy here inAmerica.
For you see, what it is is howwe have the executive branch to
do the judicial branch,legislative branch.
For them, it was a little bitdifferent because it was the
democracy along with themonarchy.
So, you had the monarchy, theyrecognized that there was at
(36:10):
least four different types ofhuman humans per se.
They recognized that there washumans who just looked like
regular people, had noanimalistic um specific uh
specificities of to theirbodies.
So, those are the most humannormal looking people because
they were most of abundance, they ascended as monarchy.
(36:35):
However, to make sure that therewas still checks and balances,
in fairness, they created whatwas called the Dukedoms, and it
is hilarious.
That word is funny as shit tome.
Anyway, they had the Dukedoms.
So, with the Dukedoms, you hadbeast men, elves, and all other
(36:56):
manners that were just notconsidered the most human
humans, you had them brokenapart into three different
factions.
You had the one of the navy, which is also their military as
well, too.
So you had the navy, who was runby XL Walter, uh sea dragon.
So she had most of the beast menwho were more and more water
(37:21):
animalistic, dolphin people, fish people, things like that.
Um, and like sea dragons andstuff.
You had XL's brother, PastorVargas, who was a fire air
dragon.
He was head of the air force.
Well, not so much fire dragon, air dragon.
He didn't really breathe fire, but he did use a little bit of
(37:42):
fire magic.
Um, so he was head of the airforce, him and his daughter
Carla.
So what wound up happening isthat you have the navy, you have
the air force, but you alsostill need to have your ground
militia as well.
Too now introducing, and I'mgonna go ahead and say this, my
favorite character, GeorgeCarmine.
(38:05):
Now, George, George was one thatwas very weird at the beginning.
So George is a lion beastman, and he, unlike unlike the the
brother and sister, Carla andSL, he is a full beastman, he's
one, he's a straight up lionperson.
Okay, and the thing about it isis that he put on this persona
(38:28):
that he absolutely hated the newking, he hated someone.
You see, George is also one ofthe eldest, not actually one of
the eldest, actually, he was oneof the youngest of them.
Because you see, Car Castor andExcel are both hundreds of years
old.
George is nowhere near that age,but he's kind of an old, he has
(38:50):
an old man mentality, and thething about it is that he's also
one that's very, very wise aswell.
Too, because you see, he putthis whole persona on.
He hated Soma, he hated the newking because the new king keeps
breaking tradition, he keepschanging the rules, he keeps
changing this and changing that.
It's not tradition.
(39:12):
I understand that you're makingthings better for the people,
but you're also trying to say, forget tradition, forget how
we've normally done things, andyou're slapping us in the face.
You're making these decisions,but before a king makes a
decision like this, he'ssupposed to meet and discuss
with the dukedoms, and he'smaking these things, he's making
these changes, but he's nevertaught us.
(39:34):
We don't even know how he looks,he doesn't even know how we
look.
How is that fair?
So he makes a good point, hemakes a very, very good point
into it because Soma actuallyhas purposely avoided meeting
the dukedoms because he realizedthere was bigger issues that he
had to take care of, but he wasbut he already had an
understanding that they did notlike him, and he had not had an
(39:58):
opportunity of being able tounderstand them a little bit
better yet.
He was still planning to meetwith them, but everything he
kept hearing was that theydisliked him.
So each of them had their ownway of handling things.
He immediately says, I don'tlike the new king.
(40:20):
We're gonna go ahead and takethis over.
We're gonna go ahead and spark arebellion because you see that
is part of the checks andbalances.
If the king becomes toohot-headed and is not doing he's
supposed to do, the dukedomshave the right to band together
and take down the monarchy andestablish a new one.
(40:42):
It is for the betterment of thepeople and the betterment of the
kingdom.
So the monarchy does have thehighest power, but can be
overthrown legally if thedukedom say that there's an
issue there.
Now, granted, they also stillhave to win that fight, too.
So, but still, they have theability to do so, it is their
right, it is within their rightsto do it.
(41:02):
So, you wind up having the twodragons and the lions and
beastmen.
Now, clearly, him being the umpart of the land, you would
think his power his element isgoing to be land.
Actually, no.
You see, every every piecefaction had their own special
private army.
The monarch actually had theearth um magic users.
(41:23):
George, on the other hand, hadthe fire users.
So they wound up staging a civilwar.
So, what happens is that Somafinally gets an opportunity to
meet the three of them, and hegets a chance to talk to them.
George straight up makes itsound like he's just not
listening.
Nope, you don't do tradition.
We're going to war with you.
(41:43):
I can't agree with you.
Castor's like, yeah, you kind ofdidn't you failed to convince
me, so I'm going sign withGeorge here.
We're gonna do civil war.
Excel on the other hand, shesays, No, I see you're making
changes to the people, and eventhough it is changing
traditions, some of thosetraditions aren't that great.
In fact, they need to change.
I like how you're doing things.
I'm gonna side with you.
(42:15):
One of the changes that Somamade is that he realized that it
was nothing but a bunch of oldpeople that was running the
kingdom with the king, and abunch of these old people were
still stuck on tradition and wasnot actually helping people.
So, what he did was he wound uphaving them step down.
He says, I need some new people,I need some young, fresh minds
(42:37):
to help me with this land.
So let's talk about thesepeople.
The first one is Excel'sgranddaughter, Juno.
We did not know that Juna washer granddaughter at first,
though, because her colorpalette changed from the manga,
which I will mention about thatlater.
Um, her color palette did kindof change a little bit from the
manga, just a little bit.
Um, it makes it more obviousthat she's related to Excel.
(43:01):
So just to go ahead and mentionthat.
But Juna, she has the bestsinging voice in the kingdom.
In fact, she used it so wellthat Soma, when he was
transported from his kingdomover, she wound up bringing his
MP4 with her, with him, and hehad her listen to a song in
Japanese.
Now nobody speaks Japaneseexcept him, but he magically can
(43:22):
speak other languages too, andit was just one of the magics of
being summoned, of course.
Um, she listened to it one time, sung it perfectly to everybody,
so proved herself to be the bestsinger.
No issue, good to go.
Um, we wound up meeting theAisha Utgard, who is who is
Soma's second princess.
(43:42):
Um, well, second queen, notprincess, sorry, it's the second
queen.
She is a dark elf, she is one ofthe greatest fighters of the
kingdom.
Straight up, her skill is nearunmatched.
The only person that has evencome toe-to-toe with her has
been Lisha.
Licia trained under the Dukedomsto be one of the strongest
(44:03):
because she was the princess.
She had to be a great fighter tobe able to do so.
Um, so the thing about it isthat both them, both her and
Aisha both like to go toe to toeto battle each other.
But the thing about it is thatrealistically, Lisha has better
control of her magic.
Aisha has extra control of hermagic.
We're not gonna say she doesn't,but Aisha is significantly
stronger, so it's one of thoseones that's just like they have
(44:26):
their way of balancing eachother out, but we have to really
acknowledge that Aisha isactually stronger.
So she's a dark elf, and thething about it is that she's
different because she broketradition already by showing up
to being one of the newer peopleto help out the kingdom.
You see, the dark elves tend tojust take care of the forest and
the forest creatures, but shenoticed that there was an issue
(44:49):
going on.
She asked her dad about it.
The dad was like, No, we gottastick with traditional ways, and
she's like, tradition's nothelping anything out.
She winds up asking Soma.
Soma's like, Yeah, uh, actually, your issue can be quickly fixed
if you just kind of do this.
And it's like, well, that goesagainst our tradition.
Tradition says we are neversupposed to touch the forest,
we're never supposed to cuttrees down.
He's like, No, I get that, butyou're having an issue with the
(45:10):
trees overgrowing each other.
There has to be some thinning tohappen so that way everything
can be healthy.
If you have stuff that'sovergrowing over other things,
it causes them to die becausethey're not getting enough
sunlight or they're not gettingenough moisture from the rain.
So we're not saying to hurt thetrees, in fact, you're helping
them by doing so because sometrees can overgrow and actually
hurt themselves because they'rehaving taken too much nutrients
(45:33):
and it causes them to rot andbreak.
So, you know, the stuff that welearned here at pretty young
age, actually, he took thatknowledge over because that's
something that they did not knowover there, and it winds up
helping out.
So he is he's breakingtradition, but it's helping,
it's not harming anyone, it isactually helping, and she
appreciates that.
(45:54):
She winds up becoming secondqueen, she admits the fact that
she absolutely loves him.
She keeps mentioning all thetime that she wants to bet him
and have a child with him, whichis it's pretty normal for their
magical kingdom.
I'm just gonna say that.
Um, and we do get a chance.
I I'll go ahead and mention it.
So, uh polyamory is very commonin the kingdom, and very common
(46:14):
in this magical world.
In fact, it's highly encouraged.
Unlike here, where it's like youwant to be with one person,
there you want to be withmultiple people.
A woman can have multiplehusbands, a husband can have a
man can have multiple wives, specifically saying he can
increase the bloodline becausethe bloodline continues with the
male heir.
They still typically do it thatway, where the male heir carries
(46:35):
on the name unless the maledecides to relinquish his name,
like the king did.
The king, remember, he was notan actual Elfredian, but he was
the king of Elfredia.
He changed, he lost his familyname and took on the kingdom's
name.
So you can do that, but mostcases it's the male who wants to
continue things on.
In fact, Soma allowed um Roa tokeep her name as well, too.
(46:59):
Even though he wound up marryingher, she didn't have to change
her name to Elfredonia orElfredia.
She didn't have to do that, shestill kept her last name for
Ambedonia, so that way she couldstill keep the family bloodline
per se of things, and that'sstill perfectly fine.
Uh, the next character that wewound up meeting is I'm actually
wait for Hakuyu.
I was about to say Hakuyu, butI'm I'm gonna wait first because
(47:23):
this character is important forHakuyu.
Uh, Poncho, Poncho, who winds uphaving the best palate, he is
able to create special dishes.
You remember there's a start, the kingdom is starving right
now.
Well, the reason being is alsobecause they're not very
creative on how they can eatthings.
Well, Poncho has traveled toother kingdoms, he's traveled
(47:43):
all across and he's tried alldifferent types of dishes, and
because he's tried those things,he can exp his palate is more
expanded.
He's able to eat things thatmost people don't even think
about eating, and so he developsnew recipes and new things like
that.
And he they actually have theirown special cooking show in this
world where um Soma has amagical crystal that he's able
(48:05):
to portray to expand informationto talk to his people, and he
wants to talk to his peopleevery week.
He he unlike some kingdoms, it'slike, oh, you never see your
king, or the king only you onlysee when he has to make a
special announcement.
He makes an announcement everysingle week, they're always
seeing his face.
He's like, I'm listening to youpeople, I want to talk to you
people.
I got something new for youguys.
You're our people, you're mypeople.
(48:26):
Come on, we got this.
So he regularly talks to them, and Poncho's job is to create
new recipes for different thingsto expand and to and show people
that way they can stop starvingbecause it's like you're so used
to just simple basic meals.
But some of those things arehard to come by right now.
We're gonna get them, but untilthen, here's another way to
(48:47):
prepare dishes, here's anotherway to do these things.
Um, Soma immediately recognizedPoncho's ability as soon as he
saw him.
Poncho's like, I've tasted abunch of foods everywhere and I
have a really good palate.
And Soma immediately, like, perfect, you're exactly what
I've been looking for.
That's what we mean.
Our people are starving becausethey don't know how to cook,
they don't know how to makedifferent things.
He says, I know stuff from myprevious life, from my other
(49:10):
world that I came from, but it'shard to recreate some of those
things here because I don't knowthe stuff here.
But since you do, I can describeflavors to you and you can
create these dishes.
And he does that because Somarecognized Poncho's abilities
instantly.
Hakuyo immediately acknowledgedSoma as a great king.
(49:32):
Where you see Hakuyo is also avery, very intelligent person,
but a little bit different fromSoma in the fact that while Soma
is still learning this kingdom,by the time we get to the end of
season two, he's only been therefor about two years.
Hasn't even been a full twoyears yet.
But um, by the end of seasontwo, it's been like a little
over a year.
So the thing about it is is thathe still has so much knowledge
(49:56):
about this world, about theworld that he doesn't know.
Hakuyu has the same likestrategic level of intelligence
that Soma has.
In fact, probably greater.
I think Soma even said that hemight be smarter, but um, he has
the same level of knowledge, butby using the knowledge of that
world, whereas Soma is stilllearning this world, Hakuyu
(50:17):
knows everything about theworld, so he's like, You're
perfect, you're my right handman because you and I we play
off intelligence with eachother.
But if there's something that Idon't know, I can trust that you
know it.
And Haku does.
Haku is actually known as theright hand of Alfredi Elf
Alfredonia because of hisextreme intelligence that he
(50:37):
has, he's able to help planthings out.
In fact, he's one of the onesthat was able to help point out
that something was differentabout George.
In fact, he was one of the onesthat was also able to point out
how it is they could better helpElfredonia.
He was the one that helped get abetter understanding of how it
(50:58):
is that they could take down thekingdom of Amadonia and bring
them in, and was also able tohelp Soma expand to create new
kingdoms, new navy, and to beable to expand things further.
He's one of the main ones thathe doesn't get a lot of credit.
Soma tries to give him hiscredit, but dude's like, no, no,
I kind of step back a littlebit.
It's you, your king, you takethe credit and stuff.
But Soma really wants to getthis guy credit on the stuff.
(51:20):
He's like, you literally are themain one that's helping me out
in these things.
Not saying nobody else istrying, but you have such
excellent strategy.
You think things through.
I am so happy to have you as myadvisor.
So it's just one of those like, how can you he acknowledge he
has deep respect for Soma asKing?
He didn't necessarily like theprevious game, but he respects
(51:43):
Soma as King.
The last person that weintroduce really quick as far as
characters, before we canfinally talk further into the
Civil War, she's not pertainingimportant to the Civil War, but
is someone that's going to be ofgreater importance in season
three, and if we have a seasonfour and season four as well,
and that would be Tomoe anyway.
Tomoe, she is a refugee.
(52:04):
Her land that she had iscompletely destroyed.
The issue is that she's a veryshy girl, kind of shies away
from things.
They were able to work it in tothe point where she is now the
quote-unquote little sister ofuh Soma and Licia.
So, what it is is that Tomway'sspecial ability is that she can
(52:26):
speak to animals, but not onlythat, that's why I say it'll
become important for much lateron.
She's the only person so farthat we know of that is able to
communicate with a demon.
And not the wild demons, atleast I don't know.
She hasn't shown her to be ableto do that, but she can talk to
(52:47):
animals, but she's able tocommunicate with a demon as if
she's speaking their language,as if they're speaking her
language.
She ran into a demon, she ranaway because she thought it was
gonna kill her, because shethought that he was gonna kill
her, and he stopped and he waslike, Wait, I understand what
you're saying, and she says,Huh?
I understand you too.
And he's like, Whoa, wait asecond.
(53:08):
That's someone I can speak to.
It's like, no, no, no, I can'tkill you.
You go, go, run away.
I'm gonna pretend like I neversaw you.
And he let her go away.
Clearly, he saw that there wassomething important in her
later, but um, which the writer,of course, too.
But um, she's the only onethat's able to do so.
So she's under specialprotection, secret protection,
(53:29):
because no one can know that shecan speak to a demon.
In fact, that's one of the onesthat Solman makes sure that
nobody knows that.
Very, very, very few people knowthat she is able to do that.
I think it's only like fivepeople out of the entire series.
The other kingdoms, absolutelyno idea.
If I'm correct, even Roroa, yes,if I'm correct, even Roroa
(53:50):
doesn't know that she can thatTomway can speak to demons
either.
I think he's purposely kept thathidden away from everybody.
As far as anyone's concerned, she's just a little sister.
That's all that there is.
So, like I said, for her, it'sgonna be important much, much
later on.
Now, let's talk about the civilwar so we can go ahead and end
this review.
(54:10):
Been on here for a lot longerthan I expected.
Like I said, I'm not taking along time, I can make hours long
videos onto this series, butwe're not doing that.
Um, so let's talk about thecivil war.
So, George knows a secret thatnobody else knows because the
king trusted George the most.
(54:32):
It's one of his absolute mosttrusted people.
Even though the king had anadvisor, the king never told the
advisor his secret.
Even the advisor does not knowthe queen's magical ability.
Everybody has a magical ability,no one knows the queen's magical
ability except for George andthe King.
And at the end of season one,Soma.
(54:53):
Well, you see, I am not going tospoil this for you.
I like this series so much, I'mnot even gonna talk about it in
this particular review.
I may talk about it for seasonthree because it may be
important for season three'splot point, but at least for
this review, I am not gonnaspoil the ending of season two.
So the last episode, I'm notgonna tell you about it at all.
(55:18):
Anyway, going back to the CivilWar.
I want you to watch it foryourself.
Going back to the Civil War, soGeorge and Caster wound up
forming their own militia, theycombine together to go ahead and
take down Soma.
Now, the thing is, Soma is sucha great strategist, and again,
he's got Haku on his side.
(55:38):
So Hakuya and Soma wind updelivering a special plan
because you see, what happens isthat Soma has a little side
adventure, runs into a guy thatabsolutely that absolutely hates
him, and because he breakstradition as well, too, and he's
siding with his dad, who's onthe side of George.
So what happens is the dad windsup uh punishing his side.
(56:01):
But the thing about it is is thefact that before he does that,
he requests a very specificprivate audience with Soma.
He lets Soma know that George isactually um planning the Civil
War as a fake civil war.
But he's not planning, but heneeds this to act out like a
real civil war as much aspossible.
(56:22):
So you see what happens is thisGeorge knows the secret.
Because he knows the secret, heknows that Soma is supposed to
be king of this kingdom, and heacknowledges that Soma is
supposed to be king of thiskingdom, but he can't let Soma
know that.
He can't let anyone know that.
(56:43):
He plans this civil war openly, specifically outright states it
because you see what's going onis that Soma managed to find a
whole bunch of money that wasbeing laundered by rich people.
He had them taxed, he had thempunished, and he thought that he
did enough, but he didn'tbecause rich people still had
(57:04):
extra money to decide, becausethey not only were laundering
money in the kingdom, they werelaundering money money to other
kingdoms like Amadonia.
Well, you see, remember I toldyou that the old king, the old
king's name is Gaius.
Gaius had a plan to take overAmadonia, but to take over on
Elfredia and claim back the landof Amadonia.
(57:27):
He did so by getting the moneyand convincing the nobles to
stage a coup.
George openly admits that he'sgoing to go ahead and do a coup.
He hates the king, specificallyto get the nobles on his side.
Every single person, if you hatethe king, we are going to take
(57:48):
down the king.
We're going to bring the oldking back.
This new king needs to go.
He needs to die.
George does this, plants himselfas the ultimate traitor to get
every single person out ofhiding.
Every single person out ofhiding.
So there were some that wound upgoing alongside with him, and
(58:12):
there were some that saw thatthere may be a chance that
George couldn't win, and so theystill remained a secret, but
they got the names of everyone.
They know exactly every singleperson in the kingdom, every
rich person, which unfortunatelywas every single noble there,
literally.
But every single person that wasactually the cause that the
(58:35):
kingdom was dying, that thekingdom was broke, that they
were dealing with all thisburden.
So there's a two-part plan here.
George stages the coup, stagesthe rebellion.
He knew Soma was gonna win.
Now he didn't give him the war,he didn't give him the victory,
he didn't do that.
(58:56):
But he knew Soma was gonna winbecause he knew Soma was very
intelligent, because he got thisinformation from the king and
queen.
So he winds up seeing thebattle.
The battle is in very quickly,is lost.
Soma manages to end the civilwar with very minimal people
dying.
There was still unfortunatelysome deaths, but very few people
want like a lot less people diedthan there could have been.
(59:18):
So Soma did a great jobstrategizing that out with
Hakuyu.
And so what happens is thatGeorge winds up seeing that the
battle is done because Castorwinds up falling.
Castor become winds up having toput on a special slave caller,
same as George.
George willingly hits what hasone put on to him.
Castor winds up falling inbattle.
His daughter Carla winds upbecoming a servant.
(59:40):
She's stripped of her title, shewas one of the higher ups, you
know, the daughter of a dukedomwho's second to the king, and is
now reduced down to that of amere slave.
But is kept alive.
She's kept a slave kingdom, andshe's still in close re um,
still very close to Lycia and toSoma as well.
(01:00:00):
Too, she's very well aware ofdifferent things that are
happening and stuff like thatbecause they still want her
wisdom and her powers there, because she's also an excellent
fighter as well.
Too, so there's like even thoughyou're a slave, it's just kind
of just because we have to makesome type of public thing to say
this.
Because Carla quicklyacknowledges that Soma was very
intelligent how he did this.
(01:00:20):
When you see what he did was isthat he created the biggest
trick if possible, he staged theTrojan Horse, but a reverse
Trojan Horse, he winds up takingthe boat, one of the boats from
the Navy, because like I said,Excel, the Navy decided to sign
to side with Soma.
So he takes the boat and he useshis puppet magic to make the
(01:00:42):
boat, put some wheels on it, andhas it drive to drive straight
into the castle of the AirForce.
And so while they're attacking, they're putting all their
militia to take down this giantboat because the boat's
attacking.
There's still like tanks andstuff on it, there's still
gunfire coming from it.
And yeah, that's the other thingas well, too.
They have guns and stuff in thisanime, in this magical world,
(01:01:03):
and they still use magic, butthings are also still very
remedial.
They don't have cars, they haveguns, but they don't have cars.
Everything's still like almostlike horse and wagon drawing
type thing.
But they use magical, like themagical animals to draw stuff,
anyway.
So what winds up happening isthat they realize that the boat
is empty after they wanted tohave him take it down,
(01:01:24):
specifically so that Soma,Alicia, and Aisha are able to
secretly get into the castle andwound up taking down Castor
before Carla's able to make itback.
So she instantly sees her dadloses and she's like, great.
Well, we lost, okay.
I was right, he's actually verygood strategist.
And he's like, okay, well, Iguess we wound up losing.
(01:01:44):
And it was so quick that ithappened because George saw this
happening.
He was like, Yeah, yeah, he's agreat strategist.
That was a smart plan.
Sees that sees that they failed.
He wound up stay um staging afight uh to attack into one
particular city, but the city, the fight was just a ploy.
Even though Xcel didn't knowexactly what was going on, she
(01:02:06):
had a feeling something was upbecause George didn't do a full
assault like he could have intothe city.
So Amadonia winds up showing up.
Gaius shows up, leaves the king, leaves his kingdom because he's
like, This is the perfectopportunity.
So he leaves the kingdom withall of his military.
So Soma, three-part plan.
I said two part, sorry, it's athree-part plan here.
So first he took down Castor,George surrenders, then goes to
(01:02:31):
Amadonia, seizes the kingdom,kills Gaius.
Then he comes back.
Winds up happening is Euphoriawinds up showing up.
Um, you know, Jean shows up,she's like, You gotta get the
kingdom back.
That's fine.
He gives the kingdom back.
The kingdom has their own civilrebellion, the king, the new
prince, new king is down, is uhhas has now had to retreat and
(01:02:51):
gone into hiding.
So now they wind up annexing andfully taking over the kingdom.
Then the third part plan is hey, even though you guys didn't side
with George, we got the names ofevery single person that
actually is the reason for thatthis coup started.
And we pulled and they pulledevery single noble, every single
(01:03:12):
high priest there, in order toact as judge over to what should
happen.
So Castor and Carla had theirshad a trial as far as like what
was gonna happen.
And I felt real bad into thisone because Castor thinks that
by the end of season, even bythe end of season two, Castor
thinks his daughter's dead, andthat's one of the scariest
(01:03:33):
things into it.
At least that's how it seems tobe written.
He may he may have found outthat she's not dead, but he
doesn't know.
He was pulled out the courtroomspecifically as that.
He was put into a slave, he wasreprimanded and imprisoned
because of his hundreds of yearsof service.
And so he's reprimanded and isdragged out the courtroom while
(01:03:55):
the sentence for his daughter isgiven.
So all he thinks is that hisdaughter died.
And he's like, please, I wouldtake my life instead.
And he's like, You can't dothat.
You have hundreds years ofservice, I can't kill you.
You need to keep putting servicein for us, drags him out, and
then Carla winds up becomingslave.
But what happens is that he usesthis opportunity, Soma uses this
(01:04:18):
opportunity to kill every singlenoble there, except two.
Where you see what happened isthat all of these nobles they
didn't side with George andCastor, but they were also the
main reason, one of the mainreasons they were still
embezzling money.
They were one of the people thatwere hiding money as well, too.
So even though they were gettingtaxed and had to give money
(01:04:40):
back, they still seemed to liveextremely rich lifestyles.
As if they still had some money.
One was a guy, he was an oldguy, he just decided to change
his mind.
He said, You know what?
I'm just not gonna do this nomore, and decided to actually
pay taxes and give money back.
The other noble, his father, wound up being uh reprimanded
(01:05:04):
and gave it to his son.
The son saw how his father wasdoing things and said, No, we're
not gonna do this.
So those are the only two thatsurvived.
Soma had each of them, had allthe other nobles immediately
executed at that exact moment.
Because Soma realized at thispoint he can't be a nice king.
He can still be a kind king, hecan still be a wonderful king,
(01:05:26):
but you can't be too nice.
If you're dealing with themajority, some people have to
die because some people are justnot going to reform.
That's just what it is,unfortunately.
So there's the third partplaying into it.
George was happy to know thateverything went according to his
plan.
Soma was pissed because he'slike, How dare you make a plan
(01:05:46):
like this and not talk to meabout it?
He said, But the plan worked.
If you knew about it, it mightnot have worked that well.
He said, No, we probably couldhave worked something better.
You said no.
If you knew about it, itwouldn't have worked.
I had to hide it from you.
Can you at least tell me why?
No, I can't tell you why.
(01:06:07):
So George is executed.
Not because he wouldn't tellhim, believe me, Soma didn't,
because Soma absolutely hatedit.
He was like, You literally aremarked in history as the work as
one of the worst traitors in thekingdom, but the kingdom will
never know that you are one ofthe best saviors of this kingdom
(01:06:28):
because of your secret plan thatyou had.
We were able to eliminate all ofthe issues that was there.
He says, Yeah, because not onlywere these nobles issues for the
kingdom, these nobles would havebeen the reason that Soma would
have been killed, and probablyLisia have been killed as well.
(01:06:50):
These greedy nobles would havesold out the entire kingdom
underhandedly to make sure thatthey stayed rich, they would
have gone to another kingdom andjust been rich there.
The rich do what rich do, youknow.
So yeah.
But there's a whole bitreasoning into it.
(01:07:10):
Thing about it is that becauseof the queen's special power, is
why it is that things were ableto plan out the way they were.
Soma and Hakuya just real thatknew this throughout the series.
They kept making quick mentionsof things, and like it's like
things are going too wellaccording to plan, almost as if
there's a secret hand guidingus.
It's like everything is tooperfect.
(01:07:32):
I don't understand.
It's like I don't I'm notentirely sure why it's like
that.
But I mean, it's glad thatthings are working, but it just
seems too perfect.
Both of them is like we'retrying to plan for every
possible negative outcome, butthere's no negative outcome.
Or if there is, we're able toquickly handle it.
It's just really weird.
It's really weird.
(01:07:53):
But that's what we have inseason one and season two.
There's a lot of breakdown, alot of different things into it.
Like I said, I could go for daysmaking hour-long videos of each
character and all this differentstuff into it, but I'm not going
to.
I absolutely love the series,it's a fantastic series.
If you listen to this entirereview, thank you so much for
your opportunity to listen.
Thank you so much for your time, for your patience.
(01:08:16):
So, until next time, stay nerdy.
Great things are coming.
I'll talk to y'all later.
Bye.
