I'm going to the
library.
I finished my open booksreading challenge, so I'm going
to go get my cup.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Okay, what exactly is
the open books reading
challenge?
Speaker 2 (00:53):
It is 15 categories
of different types of books that
you read starting January andyou complete those.
You take your completed form tothe public library and they
give you a mug.
So every year it's a differentcolor mug.
How long?
Have you been doing this.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
This will be my fifth
one.
Wow, that's cool.
Is it like book theme mugs, orit could be anything.
I'll send you a picture, okayawesome.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
They're just
different colored.
That's so cool though that'sreally cool and there are
different categories.
Like read a book with a statein the title.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
So could it be any
book with a state in the title
yes.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Yeah, so it just
really opens you up to different
types of books that you don'ttypically read.
You can read a book in a week,or whatever, too, for sure, and
just finish the 15 categoriesfor the whole year till December
31st.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
January 1st it starts
, and then till December 31st
you might see me join you onthis challenge.
These are all my books that Ihave going on and I have books
in my car.
I mean yeah, yeah, it's justlike, at any given, yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
I have books.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Yeah, 500 books at a
time.
It's so ridiculous that's fun.
I like book clubs.
Are you a book club?
Okay, you know what?
I used to be in the book club, okay, but life got so busy and
then I just kind of veered awayand then we started up a book
club again and we would meetlike Tuesdays and then all of a
sudden COVID hit and then thatwas, like you know, kind of
(02:22):
fizzled out.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
It did a lot to a lot
of stuff.
Are you one of the clubs?
I have two, so one's with thechurch and then one is with the
Chattie Chicks running group.
There's a bunch of us that dobooks.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Oh, that's so cool.
So, thank God, I knew you werebusy, but now that puts like
your business for me like awhole new level.
How do you see yourselfevolving and pursuing new
passions in the future?
Is there anything that youwould like to do?
Speaker 2 (02:50):
I have a lot on my
list.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
I want to hear some
of your bucket list.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
I do want to read all
of the presidential biographies
, all the presidents.
That's always been on my list.
I've been reading those,probably about 20 years.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Could you recommend a
book that has had a profound
impact on the way that you liveor move within the world and why
there's so many?
Speaker 2 (03:15):
different ones To be
one type of book?
I don't think there's just one.
Have you read lessons inchemistry?
Speaker 1 (03:26):
You know I saw that.
I saw that because I liked thecover.
It's probably on my bookshelfif I didn't already pick it up,
but I said I want to read that.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Anything with David
McCullough.
He wrote John Adams Everythingbeautiful in its time.
That's by Jenna Bush Hager.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
That was a really
nice book Does she share quips
and life lessons that she'slearned along the way?
Speaker 2 (03:50):
It was more about her
relationship with her
grandparents.
Just so impactful because, withboth of them passing very close
together, it meant more readingat that point.
So, very cautiously, I readAdventure North.
This was a true story aboutcanoeing up to Canada.
(04:14):
I'm like, okay, I'm not goingto try that Because the joke was
I got.
Do you remember the book Wild, where she hikes?
That was when I went andtrained for the ultimate hike,
so I could say that book wasimpactful.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
For sure.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Because the way
things so, I do the $5.00 5Ks at
Terra Local and one Monday Iwon a pair of hiking boots.
So it came right at the sametime that I got the gift of the
book Wild, and so to me that wasa sign to go do this train for
(04:55):
this hike, because in the sametime one of the current hikers
had they weren't able to do it.
He's told Andy that he needed areplacement and Andy said oh,
tammy, I'll do that, okay.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
So Andy, for those
who don't know, is your husband,
so Tammy will do it.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Oh my God, because
the whole joke was you got to
find your replacement.
That is so cool.
So everything lines up and youjust have to keep your eyes open
for those opportunities.
