Speaker 1 (00:01):
Good afternoon and welcome to everybody.
The podcast which sharesstories that highlight people in
life, that make the world aninteresting place, which
ultimately ties us all togetherin unique and wonderful ways.
And who am I, you might ask.
I would be the headwrappedsocialite Weith mom,

(00:23):
micro-influencer in the fashionand etiquette world, but on this
podcast I will be introducingyou to some people who I've had
the opportunity to meet along myjourney, who have helped enrich
me in my life in beautiful waysand who I hope will do the same
when you are.
I do remember looking at yourpost on Facebook.

(00:47):
Could you tell us a little bitabout the magic that you were
doing, because that was superfun.
I could watch it all night.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yeah, and that seemed so many years ago.
One of my job descriptions isto go to the classrooms and talk
about our program, talk aboutwhat we do in the school lunch
program, and the first time Iwent in as a chef with the
elementary students, they werenot engaged at all.
They were just looking andyawning and they didn't want to

(01:17):
hear about food at all.
So, I remember saying to myselfhow can I engage these students?
And I remember I used to domagic as a child.
I was probably the only blackchild in the projects who was
doing magic.
And at that time I remembersaying to myself I have to take

(01:39):
all of my talents, combine themand use them.
And so, with magic being soclose to food service, you're
going to say, okay, what youmean is so close to food service
.
Well, they always make anapples appear.
They also use rabbits you knowwhere rabbit is.
And so they use eggs.
They make eggs.

(01:59):
And I said, well, there's closeproximity, I make some apples
appear or something like that.
That's going to wow them.
And then I could talk aboutvegetables.
I have their attention, but toan elementary child, wow, I had
their attention.
And then I was able to impartwisdom and knowledge of that
food product.

(02:20):
And that tickles me that youwere bringing that up, Because
during that time this waspre-COVID and I had a blast.
I did not know it was going totake off like that and I had a
blast.
I was known as the magic chefat that time.
And then, of course, COVID cameand kind of shook up everything
.
But yeah, it was fun.

(02:42):
The students still see me todayand they say well, you know, do
a magic trick, so I know Iengaged them and so that was fun
.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Right, you made it memorable.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
I made it yet now Exactly.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Thank you.
