The decision to go to therapy is not an easy one. In addition to figuring our how you are going to afford it, there is also many other emotional barriers to overcome like overcoming the social stigma, facing your sense of failure or embarrassment, not to mention all that goes in to choosing the “right” therapist. With all the effort and vulnerability that goes in to merely making the decision, the last thing you want to experience is therapy “not working.” When people have the experience in therapy, it can often leave a stain on their perception of therapy and its efficacy that ends up being just another barrier to overcome.
In this episode of Therapists’ Take, Carrie and Josh are going to address this issue and discuss what they believe people can do in effort to get the most out of therapy. Their discussion will be broken down into the following segments:
- The Search: Finding a Good Fit
- The Session: What to Do While in Session
- The In-Between: What to Do in Between Sessions
- The Follow-Through: What About When Therapy Ends?
