0072: Thirty Days with Agentic AI, From Whispered Prompts to Working Systems

A lot of the ideas that I'm talking to AI about are
things that I've done in theindustry.
Like, hey, I need to make thiscomputer act like a certain way
or configured in a certain way.
And I would normally have to gowrite code that would actually
have I would have to do that.
Now what I all I have to do istell AI is like, hey, I want the
computer to do X, and then AIwrites the code.

And that right there, when Ifirst started this project,
really opened up how we aregoing to be using something
called agentic AI, which Imentioned a few times on the
show before, where you just giveAI a task and it just basically
keeps going, keeps going, keepsgoing until it figures it out
itself.
Without me actually having totell it how to do it, I just
tell it what I want it tocomplete.

And the cool thing about thisagentic AI that I found out in
the first few days is once I gotto the point where I could
whisper to the AI in a senselike giving it instructions and
then it was able to successfullydo the task, then all I had to
do was tell it even moreinformation and then just let it
even do more.

And what I mean by that is whenyou're writing code, and this is
for those that haven't writtencode before, it it's alright.
When you write code, you don'tjust write code that does one
action.
You actually have to write code,but you also have to write code
to test that the code does whatyou said it does.

Um, but for the past year or so,um, each of my episodes,
especially when we're talkingabout tech talk, I've been
talking about AI.
And this one's a little bitdifferent because I'm actually
going to uh be talking about myuse case for AI for the past 30
days.
And this has actually happenedin August, where I took 30 days

um basically just trying tofigure out uh what tools I can
use as an engineer to developbecause I have this project that
I've been working on, and Iprobably mentioned it here at
the podcast a few times too,where uh more or less I'm going
to be building out computingresources, potentially on the
edge of the internet inside ofsomething called edge data
centers, uh, which if you'veseen some old episodes, you

definitely heard me talk about afew times.
Uh but uh the technology itselfdoes require me to develop some
software, develop some code.
And nowadays, as much as we'vebeen talking about AI, I'm like,
yo, why in the world would Iactually write any code um and
not actually have the AI writecode?
And that's where codecs comeinto play.
Um like I said, I've definitelytalked about it in the past in

terms of what tools I'm using,mostly using GPT or ChatGPT.
Uh ChatGPT released somethingcalled, or OpenAI released
something called Codex,C-O-D-E-X, and I'm basically
re-using that and I label it myown version of a codecs.
Now the 30 days itself uh reallyentailed not just um figuring
out the tool, but using it toactually develop.

And the cool things that Ireally figured out uh and
learned from this article that Ireally wrote, and this is only
the first chapter of many, so Idropped it inside of Discord so
you can see it, but it's titledUh Let's Talk About My Last 30
Days in AI, uh, day zero, um,and basically giving you like a
recap of what that adventure uhentail.
So the 30 days itself startedoff with me first having to

(05:55):
learn what use cases or whattools I could use to actually
implement the the thing, theproduct, the software that I
wanted to build.
And what I found out over thetimes is that a lot of the tools
that are available out there, Ithink that a lot of engineers or
people that are thinking aboutusing AI may not be using them
to their full potential.

(06:15):
And what I mean by that is mostof the time, even some of our
audience members and most peoplethat use AI are more or less
chatting with it, right?
Um you have a question, itreturns us a response, and or
you have uh an idea, a businessidea, and you actually have the
AI to develop a whole businessplan.
But one of the cool things thatAI has the ability to do is also

to write code, but not justwrite code for you to just copy
and paste it, but in a sense,write code in a in a way that it
works on the code just as ifit's a junior engineer.
Now, the reason why I bring thisup is what I found out in the
first few days of this projectthat I've been working on is how
effective AI is as a juniorengineer.

(06:56):
And I know that most people arejust using it to chat, but it
actually has the ability towrite code and work as if it's
working on its own computer.
And the thing that I found outis that it actually has the
ability to recreate some of thesame things that I can verbally
give it and build it inside ofits own workspace, and then I

(07:17):
can take that and reuse itagain.
And what I mean by that is a lotof the ideas that I'm talking to
AI about are things that I'vedone in the industry, like, hey,
I need to um make this computeract like a certain way or
configure it in a certain way.
And I would normally have to gowrite code that would actually
have I would have to do that.
Now what I all I have to do istell AI is like, hey, I want the

computer to do X, and then AIwrites the code.
And that right there, when Ifirst started this project, it
really opened up how we aregoing to be using something

Uh the cool thing about uh whenyou have that type of process in
place is that you basically havea lot of tests and then you
write code that passes the test.
And some of you might not becatching it yet, but what that
really is is is a practicecalled test-driven development,
where you're writing tests andthen you're writing code to
develop the the or to pass thetest.

And once I started to do thatwith AI or with codecs,
basically telling it test-drivendevelopment mechanisms, it
actually started to print outsome really cool, cool code.
So much so that the code that itwrote within two days took me
almost two years to do in mylast job.

That's basically what I havewith Codacs, and I talk about it
extensively through this uh 30days worth of um blog posts and

talk on topics that I've beentalking about, and more or less
I just want to encourage y'allto check it out.
Um it's uh leading into uhreally giving uh people uh the
insights into what the TechHustle Academy that we've been
pushing from the beginning ofthe year and actually just
putting it into practice so thaty'all can see how it's being
used and how it's being done.
Uh the project I'm working on,um I'm I'm really getting

excited about it because uh I II I have not been able to
generate and create this muchcode ever in my life.
So in 30 days, I literallyrecreated about 80% of the stuff
that I worked on at Twitter withKodak, writing code.
Now it's not in terms of as umuh how can I say heavy as what

we worked at Twitter becauseI've only made it do the certain
pieces that we needed to do.
Um but I can tell you right nowthat um I'm extremely, extremely
proud of what the AI has uh whatKodaks has been able to create
so far.

So, as you can know, it's gonnabe a new meta glasses coming out
with a nice, beautiful, wornwrist.
So, basically, it the it thewrist basically inter interpet
interrupts your with yourmuscles by your fingertips so
you're able to control theglasses uh with it on your hand.

Uh, also basically hastransition uh glasses, so it can
turn into a beautiful nice shadeof color, which up to your
preference of color, whatever itmakes you.
The meta A glasses, AI glasseshas a visual response, so you
can see it on your glassesinstead of hearing it.
So this is the new upgrade thatthey did uh on it.

Uh, you can also compose andcapture new pictures, caption
your own conversation, captionyour own conversation, two-way
video calling on your glasses soyou can see the person uh while
you're speaking, and also youcan also take that option out.

You know, adjust to what toplay, a lot of charging, a lot
of lot of goodies.

You can get the normal Joe likeI have, uh, which is I was only
$400.
Um, but I I guess you're reallypaying for the experience with
AI.

Uh, and then you get to seeeverything through your glasses.

Uh, which is pretty cool becauseI've seen old movies that had
that type of function and tookthem what 15 years, million

years for it finally to comeout.

Um, I like it.
Uh I'm very like the Americanway, stoked about it.

Uh what do you feel about this uh wrist thing that
they have?
I feel real good about it.

Yeah, I feel like I can just control everything by
my hands.
Um, it's more it's moreartificial intelligence, you can
say.
Yeah, it's really, really cool.
Um, the price, I'm not big aboutit.
Here's my thing.
I have no problem paying the$800.
I just have a problem is nextyear if you come out with
something better, nah, it's that$800 out of my pocket.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to go up.
But all you people were iPhoneusers, you know, you're all used
to all that shit.
So I mean uh every year the samemobile.

Let me ask you this, because that's actually a really
good uh question.
Do you think this could could uhreplace an iPhone?

I think it can.
Yeah.

Especially with it now that it has a little screen
that you can see.

Yeah.
You can see everything, you cansee the map to your screen, so
you really don't have to pullout a phone or anything like
that.
You can just walk and it tellsyou make a left turn, make a
right turn.

Um but here's the catch.
Um Meta right now is the numberone as far as the glasses.
But I don't know if you knowApple's coming out with one.

Ah okay.

Uh Samsung is coming out with one.
Yeah.
So now we have competitive, uh,which not this year, 2025, comes
out 2026, 2027.
Uh Apple, we don't know what'sgoing on with you, so we're just
gonna we're just gonna take youout of it.
We hope.
Uh, but yeah, there's other onesthat I will be reading about
more, but as of right now, weget to that later on.
Right now, the main concern isRayban, uh, which started off.

Oh, and Snapchat.

Snapchat is uh just confirmed that they're coming
out with one also.
Ah uh no more just for the thedevelopers.

Yeah, because when we was at theI believe it was Afrotech last
year, we got to test out theones from Snapchat, which I
thought they were really cool.
Um, but this right here is uhlike regular life usage, right?
Like I'm I'm like eitherdriving, walking, interacting
with somebody.
Um, first of all, the theglasses, like the ones you're
wearing right now, it just lookslike normal glasses, right?

Normal glasses.
It doesn't look like it's likeI'm wearing like a visor or or
like a space helmet or somethinglike that.
Um but I don't know about theprice tag though.

The price tag, it's it's uh I I wouldn't mind paying
for it, but if you look at theglasses, as you can see that I
put it on in this course, it'svery bulkier than the one I have
now.
Yeah, so it looks almost likethe uh Snapchat one that we we
went to over there.
Yeah, I just not feeling howthick it is.
Yeah.
Um it is very nice as you cansee on there.

If you look at the new picturethat that I have up there, you
can see how everythingpopulates.
I don't know if you if I'mlooking at you, am I able to see
the screen?

Out of curiosity, or is it forthe public or is it just
visualizing just for me only?

I I think what what I seen um online um is that uh
it it should only be from yourangle that you see it.
So if somebody's looking at you,they shouldn't be able to see
it.
But I also read that um you'llsee people's eyes go from
looking at you like this andthen looking down like that,
looking down at the this imageand then looking back at you.
So you'll definitely have likethat eye type of going back and

Um but I mean I'm I'm I'mactually ready to go to the
store and go try it out so I cansee.

It it reminds me of the iPro version.

Uh the thing that gets me hereis the heart rate sensoring.
I'm just trying to figure outhow the heart rate sensor is
going to do on your ears.

What's the point of having yourheart rate on your ear and then
having it on your watch?

So that's something that we needto figure out what's going on.

I mean, I've always enjoyed thethe AirPods.
I didn't really like the therubbery piece.
I actually like the old versionone, the one that just sits in

doesn't hold the the ear rubberything, or it gets waxy and then
all of a sudden it slides outand all kinds of I just feel

when you put it in it with therubbery piece, it just locks in.

Yeah, like it I think for me, maybe I'm thinking
crazy, maybe it just likeexpands into your ear.

I don't know.

You would know what that remindsme of.
Um don't you remember thoseearplugs, like you gotta twist
them a little bit and then youstick them in your ear and then
they expand like that?
That would be cool in terms ofuh making sure that it snuggles
and fits really good.
Uh but hey, hey, they theydefinitely are doing well on the
airpod AirPods, um, and itdefinitely is within the price

range, um, AirPod 3.
So I might actually be gettingsome new ones myself too.
