Revelation Within On the Go!

Revelation Within On the Go!

Revelation Within equips people with life-giving, grace-infused mind renewal tools to deepen their intimacy with Jesus so that counterfeit comforts (like overeating) lose their allure, and the joy and hope of Jesus fills their lives, satisfying their souls. In our podcast we talk about mind renewal, tips and tricks for getting and staying free from counterfeit comforts like overeating (over-scrolling, over-drinking, over-anythinging...) We began as Thin Within in 1975, a pioneer in intuitive, mindful eating back when diets were in their hey day! Thin Within has taught people how to tune in to their body's natural signals of hunger and satisfaction, remaining present with their meals and delighting in tastes and textures--and the Lord! In the 1980s, Thin Within became a Christian ministry, showing people that the emptiness that they have felt and often filled with food that their bodies don't require, was really placed in there to be filled full with God through Jesus. He wants to set us free from all strongholds! We rebranded our ministry and our podcast in 2023 to Revelation Within. Join us! Visit us in our RevWithin.Team community as well! What if intuitive eating feels impossible not because of a lack of willpower, but because the body is trying to stay safe? Together, we unpack how trauma, chronic stress, and shame can reshape hunger cues and turn food into a fast-acting signal of relief. We talk honestly about why “just listen to your body” can backfire when the nervous system is stuck in survival mode, making cravings feel urgent and satisfaction ha...

We ask a simple but searching question: is a date on the calendar quietly running your spiritual life? Together, we talk about the common habit of waiting for January 1st—or Monday, or the “right time”—to finally change, and how that delay slowly erodes peace, fuels numbing behaviors, and keeps us distant from God. We explore the hidden costs of postponement during the holidays: overeating that dulls awareness, scroll...

As we talk through this topic together, we name the tension we’ve both felt: wanting to lose weight while also craving real peace. We explore what we’ve believed weight loss would give us and what God actually says about those longings. Instead of rigid plans or giving up entirely, we look at how inviting God into our food choices, body image, and emotions brings a kind of freedom a number on the scale simply can’t. W...

As we talk together, we share how movement has shifted from pressure to something much lighter—more like worship than work. Drawing from Acts 17:28 and Matthew 11:28–30, we open up about seasons of over-training, comparison, injury, cancer treatment, and the slow courage of recovery. Instead of chasing steps, calories, or performance, we describe what it’s been like to listen for God’s daily invitation: walk with Me, ...

What if your strongest cravings aren’t about food at all? As we talk through this topic together, we admit how often our cravings have nothing to do with actual hunger. We share openly about the ways we’ve reached for food, scrolling, or constant busyness when what our hearts really needed was comfort, truth, or simply God’s presence. We walk through the lies we’ve believed—“I deserve this,” “This will help,” “I’m on ...

We reframe emotional eating as a short-term comfort that limits long-term growth, and then share a practical toolkit ...

Perfection cracks fast during the holidays—one party, one plate too many, one “I blew it” moment—and shame rushes in. In this episode, we take that story back. We talk about why God doesn’t turn away when we stumble with food, and how His Word re-frames failure through compassion and truth. Psalm 103 and Psalm 32 remind us that God meets us in honesty, not disappointment. We also look at Colossians 2 and Titus 2 to se...

Everywhere we look, someone is selling the next way to change our bodies. We slow down that noise and ask a better question: what does it look like for us to make weight-loss decisions with God at the center—not guilt, fear, or marketing hype? We talk through GLP-1 medications, intermittent fasting, bariatric surgery, and spirit-led eating, exploring the promises, pitfalls, and the steadier peace that comes from hones...

What if peace with food doesn’t start with more rules but with a renewed mind and reordered love? In this episode, we sit on the porch and wrestle with a question many of us face: does focusing on mind renewal mean we get a free pass to eat anything, anytime? As we unpack Romans 12:2, Galatians 5:13, and Colossians 2, we talk about how real freedom grows—not from control or indulgence—but from connection. Together, we...

In this episode, we wrestle with the question, “Is overeating a sin?” and talk about how God isn’t counting bites, but instead inviting our hearts to trust Him more. In this episode, we ask an honest question: is the real issue about losing weight, or about why we want to lose it? We share personal stories—from the stage to the infusion center—about how numbers can become idols, how church culture sometimes mirrors the world’s standards, and how our bodies carry layered stories of illness, medication, and seasons of life. In this episode, we talk about how real change doesn’t begin with food rules or iron willpower, but with what’s happening in our minds before a craving even hits. We open Romans 12:2, Romans 8, and Colossians 2 to show how renewing the mind reshapes our desires at the root, breaking the old cycle of restriction, rebellion, and shame. What drives your everyday choices? For many of us, particularly when it comes to food and our bodies, the answer involves some combination of guilt, shame, comparison, and a desperate desire to measure up. We’ve spent years caught in cycles of dieting, comparison, and feeling like our bodies—and our choices—were never enough. Guilt and shame often drove what we ate or how we cared for ourselves, and deep down, we carr...

We’ve both known the heavy weight of shame—the kind that tells you not just that you’ve failed, but that you are a failure. In this episode, we open up about how shame has tried to define us and how God’s Word gives us a different story. Hebrews 12:2 shows us how Jesus “scorned” shame as He faced the cross, counting it insignificant compared to the joy before Him. That perspective gives us hope too. We talk about the ...

As we reflect on Peter’s story, we see ourselves in his struggle. He promised loyalty to Jesus, only to fail when the pressure rose. That moment of brokenness—when the rooster crowed and Jesus looked at him—reminds us of the times we’ve denied or distanced ourselves from God. But what grips us isn’t Peter’s failure; it’s Jesus’s response. After the resurrection, instead of rebuke, Jesus made breakfast on the shore. Wi...

When we hear the word “repentance,” many of us think of shame, guilt, or fear. But as we explored King David’s story in Psalm 51, we discovered something much different—repentance as an invitation into God’s love. David’s raw prayer after his failure with Bathsheba isn’t self-loathing, but a cry for God’s mercy and renewal. When he asks God to “create a clean heart,” he’s asking for something brand new, the same creat...

For years, we carried the heavy misunderstanding that repentance meant shame, guilt, and trying to punish ourselves into change. We even believed we could “hate ourselves into holiness,” but that never worked. Over time, God showed us the truth: repentance is not about condemnation—it’s about kindness and freedom. Romans 2:4 reminds us that it’s His kindness that draws us close, not fear or punishment. We’ve seen firs...

    The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
