Have you ever chosen to ring in the New Year in solitude? That's exactly how I welcomed 2024, in this latest podcast episode, I share why this solo celebration was anything but lonely. It's a reflection on the transformative power of solitude and how intentional isolation since last June has been instrumental in my personal development. This episode isn't just about my story, though—it's a conversation about setting boundaries, crafting the life you want, and the importance of consistency in growth, even when it's accompanied by the inevitable ebb and flow of life's challenges.

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Good morning everyone and welcome back to this Is Me
podcast.
First and foremost, happy newyear.
I hope you all enjoyed theholidays with your friends and
family and brought in the newyear.
Bless you.
So I hope you brought in thenew year filled with love, joy
and positive moments.
I brought mine in by myself.

(00:23):
The kids were with their dad, Iwas home on my couch and I
wanted it that way.
Throughout the day I cleaned, Ijust felt amazing and you know
I'm not going to lie Like, bythe time it got to like 11
o'clock, I'm like man, this ispretty sad.
And I think that because I wasspeaking to some of my friends

(00:44):
and they're like you're going tobe by yourself.
They were just so confused butI'm like, yeah, like what's
wrong with being by myself?
And then, when it got a littlecloser, I'm like man, is this
sad?
Is this like pretty patheticthat I'm by myself?
And then I thought about it.
I said no, it's not, becausethis is exactly how I wanted to
bring it in.

(01:07):
I have, I think, since June oflast year, of 2023, I have
really been intentional andfocusing, doing the work
regarding my surroundings, whatI want for myself, being really
unapologetically myself, settingmy boundaries.
And you know, with that comesisolation, and I think in order

(01:33):
to really get an understandingand clarity there, it has to
come with some sort of isolation.
And it doesn't mean anythingagainst anyone, but in order for
you to really hear yourself andhear your thoughts, it's going
to require a moment of isolation, because if you're distracted
by the noise around you, youwon't be able to hear yourself,

(01:57):
you won't be able to understandyourself, you won't be able to
really get that clarity that youneed in your life.
And, yeah, I'm looking forwardto January, to the year 2024,
for more clarity andunderstanding.
I think that with each year, you grow as a person and I

(02:19):
honestly believe that if you'renot growing, you're not living.
I am entering my 40s this year.
I am very excited.
I feel better than ever, although I do get my moments,
which is normal because we'reonly human, but I really, I'm

(02:41):
really focusing on having greatmoments all the time, and I know
it's very difficult.
I think exhaustion really takesover and I'm just trying to
really be consistent, because Itend to be consistent, fall off,
be consistent, fall off, whichI don't beat myself up about it.

(03:03):
However, when I get back on,those days of falling off are
decreasing, and that, to me, isgrowth.
So, again, this word grace Iknow I've mentioned it before
giving ourselves a little bit ofgrace, giving myself some
gratitude and saying to myselfthat I'm proud of myself for

(03:25):
staying 10 toes down and beingintentional with who I am and
really honing in on my worth andbeing proud of that.
So yeah, you all, if you didn'tstart in 2023, it's all right.
There is no playbook to thisthing called life.

(03:45):
You just have to do what worksfor you.
Don't allow for anyone to tellyou how to live your life or, if
it doesn't make sense to them, great, because it's not supposed
to.
I just pray that God continuesto guide you, lead you, remove
that negativity that surroundsyou and fulfill your positivity.

(04:06):
I pray that anything thatyou've asked God for, that he
gives it to you and fills upyour cup so you're able to fill
someone else's cup.
I hope this word today helpssomeone.
I hope you all make today yourfirst day to be the best version
of yourself and, as always, make sure you like, subscribe

(04:30):
and share my podcast if youthink that someone can benefit
from it and I love you all.
I will talk to you soon.
