In this episode Fatua shares her experience of Amazonian plant dietas within the lineage of the Shipibo, a people native to the Peruvian Amazon.
The plant "dieta" or "diet" is a shamanic healing practice that allows one to merge consciousness with a plant in order to receive its healing, wisdom, teachings, songs, and more. However, the plant will only share and open to the person who diets it if they follow a strict dieta, a protocol of restrictions that serves as an energetic exchange and forms a bridge of trust for such a connection.
Dietas offer physical healing, insights into the personalities and teachings of the plants, entryway into new realms, and profound miracles.
They are an integral part to the shamanic and medicinal healing way of the Shipibo people, and used in congruence (most of the time) with ayahuasca.
Show notes:
For clarification, a traditional dieta in the rainforest requires isolation as much as possible in private accommodation. When the term "social" dieta is spoken about, it does not mean to diet and live a regular social life, but rather one is dieting outside of the jungle and still carrying out daily life but with as many restrictions as possible.
